On March 15th, here's the latest out of Birmingham, nearly 70 million Americans receive Social Security benefits every month. That includes about 62 million getting retirement payments and roughly 8 million on supplemental security income for disabilities, or low-income seniors. The average monthly benefit now sits at $2,075. This marks the first time averages top $2,000 back in May of 2025. Then came a 2.8% cost of living adjustment for 2026, bumping most checks up by around $56 a month. Payments roll out on specific Wednesdays based on your birth date. If you were born between the first and 10th, expect yours on the second Wednesday. 11th through 20th gets the third Wednesday, and 21st to 31st lands on the 4th. For March, that means the 11th, 18th, and 25th. Supplemental security income follows a different rhythm, usually the first of the month, unless it's a weekend or holiday.

March first fell on a Sunday, so those went out February 27th with nothing extra coming in March. Looking ahead, most SSI checks hit April 1st through July 1st, then July 31st covers August since that's a Saturday. September through December follow suit, with October 30th handling November and December 31st set for January 20th, 2026. Maximum's top out at $994 for individuals or $1491 for couples, though averages run 6, $100 to $800. D&N is brought to you by our sponsor link in the description.
