Drew Goddard, the screenwriter behind the upcoming Project Hail Mary, just opened up about why his sinister six spin-off for the amazing Spider-Man. Series never happened. Announced back in 2013, the movie would have teamed up Spider-Man's top villains to battle Andrew Garfield's Peter Parker. While most folks point to Sony's deal with Marvel that launched Spider-Man into the MCU, Goddard says the real killer was the 2014. Cybertech by a group called the Guardians of Peace. He had an office right on the Sony lot and washed FBI agents swarm the place with helicopters buzzing overhead. That massive data leak threw Sony into chaos and killed the project for good.
