Siblings Fall from Balcony, Safety Checks Underway

The three-year-old boy and his seven-year-old sister dropped more than six meters when a glass panel broke. Both ended up in the hospital, but have since recovered and gone home. Waterford City and County Council jumped into action with a full investigation. They're now doing a thorough check of every balcony in the affected block, block C. People engineers plan to finish the inspections by the end of. This week, the children's father shared his relief that they're alive, noting his son had a brain bleed from the fall. For years, residents there have flagged safety worries about the balconies and other property issues. As a precaution, tenants in block C can't use their balconies right now. Meanwhile, the management company for the other blocks has started similar checks. Officials are supporting the family and stressing that safety comes first with the full report and fixes to follow soon after inspections wrap up.
