what's up everybody and welcome to the core podcast my name is Kathleen I am
here with my co-host Brian to finish out our shrinking season three coverage we
did it in chunks so this one we're covering episodes 10 and 11 the
penultimate and the finale and yeah had me crying I can't lie there were tears
not until the end of 11 but really good I thought some of the B&C plots you
know really don't matter it's funny when you're taking notes I feel like it's
like these ones like the Charlie and the Brian it's like where they even
fleshed out of them going to Tennessee it's like not really but it's still
cute to watch and I thought they did a really good job of bringing everybody
together in these episodes especially since it's really to me felt like a
serious finale I think they could have ended it here but of course there's
still stuff to explore but if they really wanted to this would have worked as
a serious finale to me so interested to hear what you think I'm thinking the
same exact thing I almost would go as far as to say they should and here because
I just don't see where it goes I don't know we pick up in a new season and it
everybody's leaving you know and maybe the point of the show they they like
want to set it up that Jimmy finally does have to like go through life a little
bit alone and not with his people around him Alice is in college and they can
explore that but at the same time I kind of like having it ambiguous you know
like Paul set him up with Sophie at the very end and it's just like hey kid
like it's on you if you want to be happy you kind of have to like go out and
take it like and you deserve that but and I'm sorry to skip right to the end of
our two episodes but no I completely agree this had all the makings all the vibes
of a series finale do you watch the pit I don't okay so there's a little bit
tangent tea but the pit is an entire season based on one day so it's like a
15-hour shift or a 12-hour shift with the oldest day after whatever it is so
you're only in one day that means you get all the same characters all the same
storylines for an entire season that's the way I think that's like a
genius way to do an ER show specifically maybe for next season they could do
something like that not in a day but maybe like Paul's in town for something
for a week or two or like they're all in Connecticut for like yeah I'm trying
to think of how to get everyone together where it's not like you know we're
following everyone in their own different storylines for episodes at a time
and then we finally get the ensemble together because this cast and this show
works so well as an ensemble like my favorite scenes are when everyone's
together like when they're in the inner circle for Gabby and you get the
little quips of everybody because they're they're all their own characters
obviously but when together it's just it's electric so I'm trying to think of a
way they can do it moving forward since you know Paul's in Connecticut
Ellis is at college John is down the street which is fine but you know it's it's
just feel like everyone really grew in these episodes and then went off to do
the thing like I'm getting engaged just feels like huge big monumental things for
some of these characters and I'm just yeah I mean I'll take more of course
shrinking is a great show I'll take it yeah I agree the character interactions
like face-to-face or kind of the heart and charm of this show and like I was
saying like I don't know they could follow more extensively like Jimmy and Sophie's
relationship but I don't know if I would like the stick of like Alice is still
involved but like she has to zoom call in every morning and stuff like that's
like I don't know if I need that and I don't know it it kind of ended at such a
good point I know bad podcasting on my end has it been confirmed for another
season do you know yeah yeah oh okay so we are getting more shrinking yes interesting
well they're gonna do it well I'm sure like you said like I I will never say no to
more of this show because it is a good show but it will definitely just change
all the dynamic although I guess like Liz and Derrick will still be around
yeah and Derrick will still be around Sean still around so maybe it is just
Alice and Paul but Paul's the heart yeah they're kind of the heart I mean he's
like the patriarch of the show I don't know it like the whole thing revolves
around his gravitational pull yeah I yeah I would just think that some of my
favorite scenes are one Gabby stuff but Gabby and Paul Jimmy and Paul like you
know that that's where all the like really emotional stuff comes from yeah yeah
but let's get into it yeah let's get into these episodes do you want to start
with the storylines that we could just kind of rip through like Charlie going away
to Tennessee yeah so he's going away for three months and of course Brandon's
like I'm not doing that because why would he want to do that I don't want to
like I mean unless it's like in Nashville but it doesn't
if he was in Nashville they would say Nashville they're just saying Tennessee
which probably means middle and nowhere Tennessee and of course Brandon's like
I'm not doing that but eventually it gives in there's it's not much more
that's really it no it's and I mean that's growth for Brian because he
previously would have just been the guy that says no and that's the way it's
going to be because I don't want to but now he's like I got a family I got
something to think about I really love Charlie like this is cool I can do this
adventure I did get a kick out of when he was like talking to Jimmy I think it was
about reasons why not to it's like ah dude like you could easily leave your job
he's like yeah I haven't been to the office in like four months are you kidding me
hey look I think my boss forgets I exist but there was another scene
within this bucket where D1 someone makes a so it makes a Walmart joke
and then D1 pointed Gabby's outfit and Gabby saying my outfit's not from Walmart
the way she said it I was like the actresses actually laughing during this
because I would like if anyone hasn't seen it yet or gonna rewatch it
watch that moment because you could tell that Gabby was like about to break
during that moment and then right after Sean walks in and was like I was just
at a wake what's the emergency yeah no it wasn't an emergency I thought that was
like a really just golden shrinking right like bang bang bang
couple jokes right in a row it's that's why you watch the show absolutely yeah
I guess the other one is and there was some growth here for sure this wasn't
as a nothing burger but Sean and Jorge still fighting just got to say like I
don't really care about Jorge it's just not someone I care about but you know
like I kind of do I feel like they could have flushed him out a little bit more
and maybe it's just I care about the relationship between Sean and Jorge like I
kind of like that he has a friend outside of like the main shrinking therapy
group but they didn't really flush Jorge out so at the end of this statement I
will say I wound up not caring terribly much but exactly I'm glad they kind of buried the hatchet
and he got his tooth knocked out I would never square out with Sean personally even if I was
mad at him and I knew he wouldn't go hard against me because he's big dude speaking of the pit Sean
was just in the latest episode of the pit and yeah and I was like yeah that's my boy it was good
to see a patient no he's a doctor like a good one okay cool nice good one but yeah so this
just ends with Sean taking the apartment from D1 and like we said having to fix up some of Matthew's
repairs because we said I'm in a previous podcast we're like who would ever let Matthew do the
repair yeah this place the craziest and this the sink is facing upwards apparently it's a bidet
there's some all kinds of janky stuff happening but it's nice that he's getting out it does just
make you feel bad for Jimmy that everything is piling on all at once like Paul leaving Sean leaving
Alice leaving everyone is just evacuating all at once for sure Sean's still gonna be like a
blocker to away which I thought was funny funny reveals that and Jimmy's like don't ruin it man
this is this is still a big deal but I mean Sean he's got such a good network obviously with these
friends but he looked into like this awesome full house situation and now he's looking into this
like amazing apartment that he's probably getting for a song in California through Derek like oh
my gosh but no it's great he deserves it he's been through some shit so all this is just good karma
and Sean put in the work I'm proud of him even in the moments where Sean and Paul are in front
of the food truck and talking it out and Paul's like I'm not handing you this one buddy like I know
you're smart enough to figure this one out on your own like a couple seasons ago that would have
never worked and we've seen Sean grow we've seen him not beat the shit out of people when he would
have seasons ago and I just love Sean he's like he's the other heart of the show it's it's
that's a good thing about this show you could say that about anyone really yeah and the character
growth has been so tangible because like in season one one of like the big issues was how problematic
he was and just like yeah the mental stuff he was going through and now he's like I don't even
think about that as a part of his character because I I can tell he's just put it all behind him and
no he's such a great guy he's on the come up he's got his new job I am happy for a man I never
found myself like I'm so happy for the character they deserve it he's one of those characters he's
a teddy bear he really is he really it now he is yeah yeah just don't cross him because he can
still he can still throw a heymaker wait I'll take your tooth out ask for him for sure
whiz and D1 all the kids are home and then you find out that I think it's the oldest son will
will yeah what we don't know as much will map you Connor that's what I assumed and the girlfriend
is pregnant and you know they sit him down both of them they have this conversation and then as
soon as they leave both of them being so excited to do grandparents made me so happy like that
was just so sweet I loved it I mean Liz needed this let's be honest because Brian and Charlie were
finally like we kind of have to pull away but yeah she needed to can her life I like this arc
we're like they're trying to fit in the Barcelona trip before all this baby stuff happens and it's
kind of like Derek and Liz that was like a good little conflict where Derek was like I want
adventure I want to turn the page on the next phase of my life and Liz was like no I'm ready to be
grandma right now 24 seven like yeah that's my next phase alive but they struck this this nice
in between I think it's gonna be great for him but I loved the scene at the table where the three
boys are talking and they're like uh Connor's the new Matthew because Matthew's like sneaker business
on the come up and stop and then summer was like hey who uh raise your hand if you thought I
would be the first one to get pregnant and everyone's like yeah Connor was taking L's left and right
in this he was taking L's from his brothers he was taking L's from summer and Alice just
absolutely destroying him and any they're like you ruined us but um you know what I didn't like is
the summer's mom with Connor being creepy lines they're saying basically that like summer's mom
is like touch you to Connor and like unzipped his pants or something I was like okay okay I don't
like that no that sometimes they take it like an ounce too far in certain things and I'm like no
no pull that one back pull that one back but the overarching theme of all of these B plot storylines
is just compromise right yeah Liz is compromising with Derek Derek wants adventure she's gonna go do
it Brian compromising with Charlie and going to Tennessee Gabby which we'll get to with D2 and
getting over her kind of stubbornness and her like past trauma and her past you know habits and
things to move forward with him and so that's the most ridiculous one like I get it but I don't get it
and I'm glad she brought what is she she called the inner circle and they're all just like dude he's
like the most gorgeous man ever and treats you like a queen like what are we overthinking here like
and he wants to get married oh what was you I feel so bad for you Gabby get over it
you know what I love about Gabby is that they stick with the dorkiness of her 24-7 they never
like the my precious which really hates because guess what I just watched Lord of the Rings the
first one for the first time in my life this past weekend interesting yeah well now I got to ask
what were your thoughts on that so I don't have the nostalgia piece like my wife I'm saying my wife
of course you know her name is Alex yeah she loved it she watched it as a kid it was kind of like
Harry Potter for for me for you I'm sure you're a Harry Potter kid too yeah that feels nostalgic to me
if you were to put it on it would it would make me feel something so I don't have that piece
that aside I thought it was really cool that was very long like extremely long I thought
there was one part that I was like that's kind of the coolest thing I've ever seen which
will take off lines I don't want to spoil let's kind of at the end but you know I don't know
that I would ever watch again but I'm gonna watch the whole thing like I'm gonna keep going with
all the movies I think fellowship of the ring is fair game for spoilers at this point but
I'm sure our audience appreciates you there's someone who's like yes I'm glad she didn't spoil it
I'm gonna watch it tomorrow yeah totally y'all should watch it no um but I thought it was good I
have like longer of course thoughts but I I did like it I did I wasn't like that was the best
thing I've ever seen it was just like so much happening for a three hour movie it felt very fast
paste in like we're here we're there we're here we're there oh issue here issue here we're like
just running all around the town and I'm trying to remember everyone's names and like these are
crazy so you know it was good um I'll keep everyone updated on another podcast on my Lord of the
Rings um watch because I figured I could pull on that thread because of the in through Gabby that
exactly sort of relevant to a shrinking podcast yes my gosh is good and it sounds like
Ferg likes uh Lord of the Rings in general so I'm sure she'll make you watch the other two
loves them like she was upset she was crying during it like she she has big emotional ties to it but

in the dark anyway stuck on her finger classic stuck on her finger trope right like happens all
the time love the ring though my wife herself has a green ring love it love the coolness of it
but yeah i'm glad that they ended up going for it i thought the proposal itself was divine
i love that they brought it back to that cornhole bar that they're always at yeah i thought they
did that really in the right way and was proud of Gabby for for pushing through and going for it
and then were you were you surprised at all that D2 is like endgame for or is that do you think that
no not at all i know like the second he walked into the show because he's a Derek i mean
you don't get better than a Derek plus he's like a good looking dude they just clicked i don't know
and when she was going through her little spell after losing a patient like he was so supportive
in all the right ways like you could just tell they're a great match another comedic beat that was
beautiful and perfect was right before Gabby gets to the cornhole bar and Liz is there being like
like she's mad at you she found the ring blah blah blah Gabby comes storming in and D1 goes
here she comes run and it was so funny like the delivery was perfect and maybe like
buckle out loud so funny so good it was a good proposal that's another if the ring stuck on the
finger wasn't a good enough trope like the wife proposing to the husband is another trope that's
been done to death but no it was great yes the hey i know a lot of people here and that is like
why is my podiatrist here shadow my podiatrist now it was great yeah yeah it was funny and
we'll get back to Gabby when you know we kind of talk about Paul and Jimmy's big fight or really
Jimmy's big fight because Paul was just taking it and being like bro what's going on yeah let's
kind of start the Jimmy's self with Randy his dad yeah so Randy meets Paul and I remember
us saying in a previous episode that we kind of want to Randy and Paul to have it out yes but it
didn't happen Paul was perfectly respectful to him and says like oh the tea a thing that must have
been really hard for you right and they kind of have this conversation I wanted him to beat him up
I want it Paul to beat Randy's ass yeah I didn't I mean I just don't think Paul needed to intervene
like that I think it was just he's been talking to Jimmy and probably reading between the lines
over the years whenever he talked about his dad I'm sure he knows what like the issues there are
I took it as this might have been the first time they met face to face like actually so I think
this was just the proof that Jimmy everything he thinks about his dad and kind of the issues he has
like he just got to see where they all came from with Randy and like in this two-minute thing
he downplays Jimmy being a therapist says oh yes just like whatever you can tell Paul's piss but
I just don't think it was his time to like unload on the guy or anything because what what are
you gonna change you know you're 100% right but in my heart I wanted him to beat his ass and that
would kind of show Jimmy how much Paul cares about I don't think Paul's in the position to beat
anyone's ass right now well yeah in theory you know Paul's got that like he could beat someone's
ass verbally with his words absolutely I wouldn't have minded that I wouldn't have minded that
this was such like a slimy episode for Randy too because like he takes it up until the morning
of graduation or like the day before graduation to tell Alice it's like I don't know he might have
been my least favorite character in the show and that's obviously by design but like I hate people
like that I mean the batting cage scene and seeing we've seen Jimmy really sad in this series right
of course yeah but you've never seen him so deflated as when he's talking to his dad and his dad
is just like actively letting him down this batting cage scene was so sad I mean this guy is the
worst he says what do you want for me and Jimmy says it plain as day cancel the trip go to the
graduation and he says I'm not that guy what do you mean you're not that guy you go on your grand
daughters thing it's like not even a question not even a conversation I can't imagine a grandfather
the mental gymnastics to get to the point where it's like yeah I need to take this fishing trip
and it's such a shame because we didn't really say after the Randy and Paul conversation I think
Jimmy and Paul talk about it where Jimmy's like frustrated and Paul's like we'll have you talk to
your dad about it right and he's like no and Paul's like you can't really get that angry at him if
you haven't like explicitly told him what you want and what like why you feel frustrated
which I think Jimmy knows it's a useless effort like even if I do talk to him he's going to let
me down again like I've played this game but he swallows his pride and tries to have the conversation
like Paul instructed him to do and again it's like the guy let's him down in real time let's him down
none of this like ah maybe I'll make it like he says I need you there he says I'm not that guy
and not only that he says and I'm tired of having this conversation like I'm done with it as if
to say Jimmy you're the bad guy for inconveniencing me and putting me through this conversation it's
like yep and you could tell that Randy still treats him like a kid that he can talk down to like that
because he's like let's go get some ice cream I'll go buy you an ice cream and it's like yeah
you could just imagine Jimmy's childhood and he's like you know your mom's the one who would
deal with all the emotion stuff oh so icky you're right it's so icky god yeah and I mean Paul obviously
gathers everything that happens with Randy and this scene and he has the context of years of
like talking to Jimmy and I just think like this probably validates the relationship that Jimmy
has always needed from Paul like kind of that fatherly figure that he clearly never had and this
like this was a great way to get us to the final final scene when Paul is finally there for Jimmy
and like lays his heart out and it's like I should have said all these things like years ago but
I've always felt this way like it you have to see him go through the the ringer with his dad
to then get to the set up with Paul and yeah and we we will get there because I have so much to say
about the the downfall of Jimmy and Paul at the end of episode 10 but first let's I want to talk
about the graduation really quickly because one Alice seems to take it okay from the grandpa right
there doesn't actually seem to be any any issues later in the episode I thought she was going to say
yeah it's okay don't worry and then later be like I really wish grandpa was here but no we don't
we don't really get that but my issue here cannot believe that the entire crew was not at this
graduation like I don't understand how it was just Jimmy in the crowd I think they were the show
is trying to show us like it's just these two like the dad didn't show up like meeting Randy it's
just Alice and it's just but that's not true the show has gone above and beyond to show us that
Alice had her soccer game she's she filled the entire stands with people screaming her name yelling at
the raft so you know what I mean like she has a crew and it's not always your blood relatives but
it's your chosen family they go above and be and of course everyone's at the party but I do think
they were just trying to show us like it's just those these two in the house these of the last two
left took type of thing but another side tangent have you ever seen Gilmore girls no actually that's
yeah yeah so in Gilmore girls when Rory and and the whole thing is like Lorelai and Rory right single mom
whatever when Rory is graduating high school she's a valedictorian and she's giving a speech
they have like the chosen kind of family like Lorelai it looks there and Sukis there and everyone's
there and everyone's weeping in the crowd whatever it's such an emotional moment like it's
incredible it's one of my favorite Gilmore girls moments and I'm like why is Liz and Gabby not in the
crowd weeping like filling the crowd with their tears I just don't understand why they did that
they made that later in the later in the episode at the party they're like given Alice stick for like
oh so you just bought that dress without letting us take you shopping and I'm thinking to myself
you guys didn't even bother to show up to the graduation can you get whatever dress you want
I love that even her that that stick but like I was like yeah where you at and I totally think
it's it's what you were saying I think they made that choice just have this moment be Alice
and Jimmy like kind of a turning of the page uh yeah so I can't knock him for that and the Jimmy
with the sign was was cute and it's really cute yeah and the conversation about Tia and the car when
she wasn't like letting him finish the sentence but knew what he was gonna say and they were just
kind of like nodding being like okay yeah you know was the biggest shocker to me is that
I was confused about Paul moving to Connecticut I know that Meg told us but then they never
talked about it again they never had a moment of Paul telling everybody I'm moving to Connecticut
I was like is he is he going on a trip to see Meg is he moving I was confused and I thought maybe
I missed something and I get it Meg told us but I thought we were missing a scene somewhere where
they're everyone was sad that he was moving away hi I'm Brandy Pissante for the last 15 years I've

conversations with all your favorite actors and filmmakers from Andrew Garfield and Scarlett
Johansson to Christopher Nolan casting what ifs backstage stories and much more listen to happy
say confused on Apple podcasts Spotify or wherever you get your podcasts yeah we could have had it
but also that's not Paul's style like he's not one for pomp and circumstance and having a party
thrown for him and in fact I think at the graduation party they said this is also Paul's good
by party right so that I was like to use yeah right I'm like oh okay confirmed because but I
agree the whole stuff with like Gabby taking over the practice and turning it into the trauma center
is Paul retiring right like it's not like they were like he's retiring and moving away it's like he's
retired so yeah I don't know it's not that big of a deal but I was like oh okay we had to make
that jump we had to make the jump that that's happening it's happening right now it's not that
big of a deal but it's still a deal it's still a deal yeah sure okay I want to hear your thoughts
on Jimmy picking this fight with Paul I don't know it's like I get it and I think this was
just he needed a release of emotions like you were saying earlier so many things are happening like
right at the same time and there definitely is some abandonment stuff going on his dad was
just in town and brought that whole whirlwind that's clearly a trigger for Jimmy like his dad
and that relationship is one of the biggest things that like sets him off as we've seen and I just
think he's not going to blow up at Alice he's not going to blow up at like Sean or anything like
he needed a release of emotions to Paul and it like even mid-argument he admitted that some of it
was illogical because he was yelling at him so what you're just giving Gabby the practice and Paul
was like I thought we talked about this I didn't think you had any interest and he was like I don't
have any interest still would have been nice for you to tell me and fill me in you just like so many
people are leaving and you know it like he doesn't resent anybody for like Alice is graduating
going to college what are you gonna do Paul's moving back with his family for the last however much
time he has left like what are you gonna do that's but I don't know he just he just needed a
release of that emotion and I don't think it was targeted at Paul I just think he's the only one
that would be there to listen and could take that the right way in a constructive way and then kind
of bounce it back to him with some good feedback as we see later what I didn't appreciate was someone
even I think Gabby even says yeah y'all are fighting like some middle schoolers right now giving
each other the cold shoulder in the wake of this because I hated that Jimmy did not see him off
for the plane I was hoping that they would have kind of the the coming together before he flew away
but they have to make it even more dramatic and have to so but the actual blow up it was intense
but I don't know sometimes those emotional intense scenes are the good ones in the show so I
liked it it's just so upsetting to see and knowing that Paul's leaving Paul's also sick moving away
and to me it's like Jimmy I get that he's in this like highly emotional state but you're at Alice's
graduation party and you're gonna like kind of make it about yourself and just start screaming at
this like father figure in your life who has been there for you and he also knows Paul like he
knows that Paul's not the type of guy who's gonna say thank you thank you thank you I love you I
love you I love you like it's just he knows this guy with his whole soul and like he's expecting all
this stuff and I get it like you said there's so much going on but I don't know it just didn't sit
right with me and then the scene the ending scene of this show of this sorry of this episode 10
was Zach Bryan playing I think is um I think the song's called like I remember everything but
it devastating like Paul's sitting on all this stuff texting Jimmy being like I'm about to leave
my cars here and Jimmy is just ignoring it is I didn't love it but I get that you have to like
it's the conflict that leads us to the resolution but it's still like if it's me and I'm a very anxious
person and like Paul does that and then even if Paul comes or Paul leaves and we get in this big fight
and then Paul comes back for that one minute they had to have the conversation before he goes to
sit with Sophie I would never forget it I would never forgive myself for for blowing up like that
and I get they make up but I don't know it just made me sad but another big thing that kind of
happens in this fight is he admits that he slept with Meg which was yeah just such a Jimmy moment
to out himself in the middle of something and he's like oh damn it why don't I say that and
Meg cools a cucumber later when Paul drops it is like oh he told you huh okay
understood Meg's a cool character she doesn't like air and it's also the added layer of
Paul hates her current husband Dave yeah or whatever his name is so you probably wouldn't care
about that but I don't know so I'm I'm kind of hearing you you were a little upset at Jimmy
for doing this oh big time that really oh okay big time huge uh you you can say Paul isn't that
kind of guy but I also do think Jimmy was warranted and kind of calling him out for being a little
arrogant and a little unappreciative of everything that Jimmy has done for him we we sold like earlier
this season like Jimmy was just like running errands for him like just when he took a term for the
worst sick wise he was in like the storage unit like looking for his old notes and stuff like he's
driving him to work every day and Paul's not that guy he's not the thank you so much and to be
overly gracious but like throw the kid a bone especially you're a therapist you know that Jimmy's
the sort of guy that needs that and I don't want to call him weak or soft because that's he's been
called that like two or three times five fallen Randy and he's not that but he is a little bit more
needing of positive reinforcement sometimes and a lot of people just need that more than others and
Jimmy or rather Paul is not the person that's likely to give it to him so if you go through years
and years of years of a relationship like that I get it and again this is this is just the the
emotional release it wasn't all about Paul but a lot of it was about Paul and I it's even the
Gabby thing like even if they had that conversation years ago that Jimmy didn't want to practice a
heads up would be nice because they have planted these seeds it it is known that Jimmy is like the
protege like there should have been a conversation where Paul's like hey Jimmy we talked about this
while back but I really want to give Gabby the practice I think she would crush it and Jimmy would
have been like that's the most amazing thing I've ever heard yes do it but that didn't happen so you
could it's not like sneaky but it's just like give him a heads up well yeah and to be fair it's
Jimmy's job so you should tell him just to say hey you're gonna have to find another place to
work yeah he didn't seem to bother by that therapist in California look at the guys house he's
doing fine I know but there's a lot of conversations that just don't happen on the show it's like hey
FYI I'm leaving Gabby's taking the building you're gonna have to figure it out or hey I'm
moving a Connecticut which I didn't know about so um but yeah I mean this last scene with Paul
after you're you're watching Jimmy just be a sad boy right and you watch him with Alice and
planning her last day to have control and Paul lays it out for him like you had this really
terrible thing happened out of the blue right so now you try and control everything so there's
no more surprises and so you want everything to be perfect and you just you know that's just not
how it goes so we try to have a perfect day with Alice he ends up making summer and Alice make up
after their fight and then that in turn screws up Jimmy's perfect goodbye with Alice as well because
summer it's just so annoying and I love her to death because they're her just popping in an
hour being like hey so this is coach right I have your card in my app so I'll just like run it
last time I was in an airport by myself I got taken to Bolivia or whatever Argentina
I love Morocco thank you I love that the the decoy to get summer to come to the ice cream place
he told sir that he wanted to like hook up with her mom or something like that so you are the
most gullible person in the world by the way yeah so easy to trick but I thought the Paul and Jimmy
stuff this was beautiful I was crying watching this because Paul finally says all the things that
he wants to hear but he says that you need to you need to knock it off you need to let go of some of
this old the past this old trauma if you want to move forward you got to make the right decision
which would you go with Sophie we will talk about this last scene I don't want to glance over the
scene in Connecticut where Paul needed to be pushed to read out to Jimmy by all the girls and I
loved how they just cornered him like four on one it was summer Meg Julie and Alice are just like
dude what are you doing that guy needs you and you're just like not gonna talk to him at all but
no it was perfect he calls him like want to get breakfast but how about we do it today and he's
there for him and he's like I only got an hour I'm like flying right back out but you're absolutely
right it's life gave you this curveball and it sucks but like you are equipped to deal with a lot of
this stuff yourself and if you keep like needing me and reaching out like I can't always be the one
that shakes it out of you like you got such a good support system you have all the tools sometimes
you just got to go for it yeah totally it was good this was really good scene
it's like cut it here honestly that's that's where I'm at like it it is a very important thing to
end a show on great terms yep if this was the lasting image of this show it would have enhanced
the overall experience for me and that's not to say that the next season can't add value and do
its own thing great but this felt like such a good uh ending of the show yeah I mean this show
is all about these big emotional moments so to end the show they're gonna have to do these big
type of things again right like we just had it everyone Paul or sorry Jimmy is in a really like
sad place right now and then he has this moment with Paul and it's big this big sweeping emotional
moment with Paul in order to have that again for the eventual series finale you're gonna have to
do this all over again so it's like the longer you have a show like this just the more
downs you're gonna have to give these characters to bring them back up yeah so it's just that's
what I'm thinking of when I'm saying like to to move forward with these characters who I love is
is to torture them a little bit you know yeah that's a good point yeah yeah I want to see you get
tortured no more it was just going back to like the actual quotes that we're saying they were talking
about scars and Jimmy's like hey Paul I got a lot of scars and Paul says what a shame to be 42
years old not be absolutely covered with scars they're the evidence of a life fully lived just
like Mike drop yeah I just I don't know they they crushed in this scene they did they did yeah it
was good I mean listen I'll have I'll take more shrinking we'll just have to see we'll just have
to see where they go and you know it's interesting because I'm just now remembering that the creator is
the same but this reminds me if you've ever watched scrubs which I'm not sure if you have but
this surely people have the Jimmy and Paul relationship is very similar to Dr. Cox and John
Dorian JD the main characters relationship where Dr. Cox is kind of this like hardass doctor
like emotionally unavailable and everything like that and JD clearly seeks out this fatherly
relationship and in the last episode of the season JD leaves the hospital and he says is good
buys and he walks down the hall and then he like kind of pays an intern to like trigger Dr.
Cox and be like oh thank god JD's gone like I thought he would never leave he wasn't that good
of a doctor and only when JD's gone and he's still hiding like in the hallway just Dr. Cox be like
actually he's one of the best doctors I've ever seen and I'm gonna miss him as a friend as a person
all of this and it's pretty much this exact same thing that Paul finally gives yeah give me what he
wants and he explicitly says it he's like I shouldn't even have to say this because I hope you
know but I love you you're not a burden to me you're like a son I don't know why I haven't said
that before I think you're strong I don't think you need me but if you think you do then I'm here
for you oh my heart yeah I was I was tearing up I had to go fine I had to go find my wife and
give her a big hug after because good good good now it was it was great I I can't claim to
actually specifically remember each of the season finale's but yeah I have to I feel like this
was probably the best one yeah I agree anything else on your side you got anything written down
you want to talk about not a gosh diggy darn thing that was good another season in the books
all right perfect so since this is ending just want to point you in the direction so on this
