Sharks Stars Inspire Reading at Bachrodt Elementary

San Jose Shark star is Macklin Celebrini, and Will Smith joined Ford, Zach Ostubchuck and Olympic medalist Rebecca Johnston at Bachrat Elementary School on Thursday for reading across America Week. The group visited classrooms, read stories to excited students, and fielded questions from the kids. This event came through the Shark's foundations reading his cool program, which pushes literacy and good grades across Northern California. It uses school visits, assemblies, rewards, and game tickets to get kids hooked on reading. The players loved every minute, saying it reminded them of their own thrill seeing pro-athletes as kids. Celebrini admitted feeling more nervous reading than playing hockey, while Smith called the kids energy super cool. The program connects with tens of thousands of students each year. This season alone, it will reach about 27,000 kids in 1,000 classrooms around San Jose and
