Severe Weather Alert: Alabama Braces for Storms

0:00Birmingham's story is making news on March 15th, Alabama is gearing up for severe weather late tonight into Monday morning. The entire state sits under an enhanced risk for damaging winds, hail, and possibly a few strong tornadoes. Non-thunderstorm winds will ramp up this afternoon and evening ahead of the main storms. Expect sustained speeds of 10-20 mph, with gusts reaching 30 mph south of Interstate 20 and up to 35. North of it, higher spots in North Alabama could see gusts near 40. Storms were rolled in first to the northwest corner, including the Shoals area from 7pm Sunday to 1am. They will push east toward Huntsville and south to Birmingham and Tuscaloosa between 10pm and 2am. Southern Central Alabama, from Montgomery to the coast, faces threats from 11pm to 4am. Monday. A few supercells might spark ahead of the line, especially east of Interstate 65 and south of Interstate 85, with potential for longer track tornadoes.
