Seven Arrested for Breaking into Dangerous Supermarket

0:00On March 10th, seven people face arrest after breaking into a derelict supermarket building in Mansfield. Police took in the custody to 26-year-old men, a 27-year-old man, a 23-year-old woman, and three teenage boys aged 15. And two 16-year-olds. All were released on bail while investigations continue into burglary and handling stolen goods. The site housed a B&M store, a food shop, and a charity outlet on the ground floor. It shut down after part of the walked-in street car park above collapse at the end of August. Mansfield District Council inspections in September confirmed the whole structure needs demolition to avoid more risks. Local leaders and officers stress how dangerous the place remains. The council chief praised police for quick work in tracking a suspect vehicle to a home and nearby Stanton Hill. Counsel Tains and Police keep patrolling the area themselves despite the hazards. Now, workers are clearing out leftover stock, and the safety zone surrounds the building until demolition starts.
