The Bleacher Report app is your destination for sports. Right now, the NBA is heating up, March Manus is here, and MLB is almost back. Every day there's a new headline, a new highlight, a new moment you've got to see for yourself. I could follow the teams I care about, get real-time scores, breaking news, and highlights all in one place. Dallow the Bleacher Report app today so you never miss a moment. Not a tick in the newsroom, listen today.

You know, then she has the glow-up, which we're used to seeing on Survivor Island. It's not just taking off your glasses, it's, I'm ordered a boar, and it shows. Greetings and salutations, and welcome to Thundermore, I'm Jason. I'm Rachel. Today, we are talking about Send Help, directed by Sam Raimi. Yeah, it's been a while since I've delved into Raimi's world. You're back in Raimi's world. I'm just making me want to dig up some old Zina clips and get right back into that series. His brother, Ted Raimi, is a Ted, Ted Raimi. Every time I see him interviewed, I think, oh, it's that guy from Zina, because he's in Zina, but he looks just like his brother. All right. I'll know who it is. You'll know as soon as you see him. Yes, of course. Who's his name in that show? It's Joffer, peppering you with questions right out of the gate. I, as usual, have done zero research as usual, joxer.

So close, joxer. How do you remember this, Joxer? I didn't remember. I was off. Yeah, but you weren't that far off. He does look like a twin, almost. Yeah. Jeans. Hey. Siking. Yeah, so we're a little bit late on this one, because of life. Oh, yes. Have you ever heard of it? Fucking bad season for viruses, too. I got a week off in between the flu and a fucking head cold. Anyway, where, where, where, here we are. Nobody wants to hear any of that. Said help. How do you want to do this? Well, first of all, let's say we're going to spoil this movie as we always do. As usual. I did not realize there was a movie out there that this is almost a little successor to the movie. Send help is, say, 2009, was it? Oh, are you talking about a Dragon in the Hell? Yes. Uh, main, main character in that movie, lady working in an office.

Good guy, boss is a dickhead, and she gets cursed by a woman who she has to basically say, no, we can't extend your, your mortgage payments by another month, because she's listening to her dickhead boss. Dragon in the Hell, I never saw because of one thing that happens in the trailer, and it has to do with I stuff, and I was just like, I, I can't, I can't. I love Sam Ray, Sam Ray, but I can't. There is so much I stuff lately in the gory movies we've been watching. It's like, has it always been like that because it feels like every horror-ish movie, they're going for the I got what else do we see? We saw an I pop out in Game of Thrones or a knight of some kickers. Yeah. And well, send help. There was an I, I gouge and barbarian, I mean, it's just like coincidence, I assume, because that's an older movie trying to think of the I thing. How can you forget it? It's like, we already covered this movie, but you should see it.

Anyway. Yeah. Okay. So you avoided the I gouge and now I just bombarded my I gouge. Just stupidly, you know, I don't love horror movies, but I do love Sam Ray. He's one of our best directors, I think, across many, many different genres. Now look, I did not like Dr. Strange, a universe of madness, sort of the hell was called. I was fine with it. It was fun. Yeah. I didn't overthink it, though. And I like Rachel McAdams, and she, I mean, I like her, and pretty much, of course, yeah. So she was a great addition to that. Yeah, absolutely. I was touched on it is always fun and weird and totally, totally, but my point is, here's another director of a later stage, Marvel movie that comes out with a banger right away, like, yeah, and it's awesome. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. We, I mean, I really enjoyed this. Very fun. It's not winning any awards at the Oscars, but that's why not. Why not? I mean, it's just a fun movie.

It's good. It is. It's great. Normalized putting fun movies in the Oscars. Let's have a fun movie category. Yeah. Why not? The no-brainer category. No-brainer. How dare you? How dare you? This is a very smart movie. Oh, I'm not saying it's not smart. I'm not saying a no-brainer is not a smart category of movie. It's just, you don't have to do anything but sit and just meld into the chair and let it take you over. You're not. They're just taking care of you. Right. You don't have to think about it. They've got it all covered. I hear what you're saying. On the surface, it works on multi-levels, this movie. But yeah, this movie, you can just sit down, eat your popcorn, do the 4DX because, well, we didn't do that. We should have done the 3DX. I don't know if you could have handled it. I did a lot of that anyway. The Borsnot flying at you with the spritz of water that might have been a little too visceral for you. I had a barf this week that involved Snot.

I'm just going to say that. So you're right. It was your own Snot, though. Let's get that out there right now. I'm not good with mucus. Some people are eating their breakfasts, listen to this, and so. Speaking of barfs, how many barfs were in this movie? I'm mixing it up with another thing. Okay. I haven't seen a lot of barfs this week. Was there a barf in this movie? There was two barfs in the night of the Seven Kingdoms. No, there's three of them. Definitely. Well, okay, look, there's two characters that barf in this movie, but it's actually the same barf because the fiance and the dream sequence is barfing, and then it turns out to be Rachel McAdams barfing on his face. Has anyone ever done that? Has anybody ever done what? A barf done somebody's face? In a movie, a barf, like that extensive of a barf, it's actually, it's going, going all over someone's face. It's happened. It's happened. I'm sure it's happened. That was never ended.

My friend one time, sorry for the breakfast eaters out there. This is a bit of a tangent. He was helping his girlfriend like she was barfing after a very long night. It was booze inflicted. She was just like, did one of these, don't touch me. Her barf caked hair flipped around and all that right in his mouth. Oh my God. Oh my God. God. I love that story. I don't know why. You love barf scenes though. It makes you laugh. It's always funny. Always funny. Now what do you like better? I know like a fall down scene is your ultimate laugh. Like if somebody falls down, you can't help yourself. Is barf below that or on par? Power rankings of unfortunate events that I find hilarious. What's your levity snippet list? Somebody falling down is always funny to me, but it's also the risk factor is high.

And I don't like it when people are hurt or actually hurt, but I'm going to say barf. Barf is higher? Yeah. Your creosal in meaning of life is one of my favorite scenes in any movie ever. I don't know how you enjoy this stuff. It's beyond my brain comprehension. I get nothing but shooting pain through my legs for barf or falling down. Yeah. I guess falling down, but this I get I can't. I have to block the screen. Okay. There's too much potential mucus risk with a barf. Right. Okay. But there is mucus in this with the with the board. There's a lot of blood. It's very gory, hilariously gory I found. I had to ask Jackson today because Jackson's our son. The last scene I did so much of this at the theater, did she kill him with the golf club? Well, it's you don't see it. I didn't see much. Well, it cut away as she swung the club and it cuts to the ball.

But the implication is yeah, yeah, she can't. Yeah, yeah. Which I mean, again, here we are jumping to the very end. It was the best way for her to end it because he basically killed her dreams by putting Dono, his golf buddy, friend in her her position that was well deserved. Right. So he killed her dreams and killed his killed him literally with the the golf club and just how she embraces golfing her new persona of this norm life, normie life she's taken on when she goes back as a pseudo celebrity. I think that's her deciding to play the game. She's basically accused of not playing the game, right? You don't golf, you don't, you know, dress the part. You don't do this. You don't do that. But I don't think that's a choice for her because she's one of those neurodivergent geniuses that, you know, she is so good and so focused at what she does, beginning dressed and keeping

tuna off your face. Well, trying to have a social interaction with someone that matters, it doesn't even occur to her. You know what I mean? Yeah. Yeah, she's under the impression that if she works hard, that will in itself be the reward. That will get her to the next level, you know, but she's not willing to play the game and she's a woman who's underestimated constantly. And so by the end of the movie, she has become this ruthless, corporate and literal killer. And they've trained her to do so. Even when she reveals this terrible relationship she had with her ex-husband that ended in, I don't know, don't really think she killed him, guys. I think she just didn't act to save him. Well, I was still on her side and I didn't think she was a psycho. Right. Like I was... So you think that she just passively, aggressively gives him the keys and is like, whatever happens

happens. Yeah. And why wouldn't you do that? Fuck you. Right. Yeah, yeah. I mean, any sane person would do that. So I didn't... Well, hold on. I don't... I'm saying you don't have to be insane to after being abused for so long to just go, you know what? Yeah. You're doing it to yourself. Totally. That part of it, for sure. There are reddit threads out there that are... That theorize that she did more than that though. Right. Like, fucked with the car somehow. Well, she seems like such a psycho in the end that it's like, okay, well, maybe she wasn't as not crazy as I read her to be from the get-go. Right. I think she... That was the first step, you know what I mean? Like that was the sort of, here I'm going to just give him the keys and, you know, what... First of all, A gets him off my back. He did something terrible that night, according to her. And whatever happens happens and then he gets killed and she basically got away with

it or she, you know, it was completely hands clean. And also her life improved greatly by that. By her negligence at the, at the most, right? Exactly. So she is being taught through these life experiences on how to make her life better. And this fucker who from the get-go, you want dead. Right. Because he's such a scumbag, Remy does such a good job at making him as hateable as possible. We're talking about the, the possible. Okay. We're doing not a very good job of setting this up. Let me just give you the Rotten Tomatoes explanation and send help to colleagues. I'm stranded on a deserted island. The only survivors of a plane crash on the island, they must overcome past grievances and work together to survive. But ultimately, it is an unsettling, darkly humorous battle of wills and wits to make it out alive. The audience, 87%, critics, 93%, this is going over very well. And understandably so. It's very entertaining.

It's also very satisfying, pretty much every step of the way. Yeah. I mean, it's brutal. The office scenes are brutal and actually hard to watch, you know. As hard as the gore scenes, honestly, the tune apart. This week's movie on Instagram. What is this week's movie? That's an account. On Instagram, which is where I saw that Sam Remy likes to put his first car in, I think, all of his movies. Oh, really? So, it's a 73, ultimate meal. And it was in Spider-Man movies, it was in the Dr. Strange. And when she's in her car and she is very upset and crying, it's no, it's behind her. Oh. So I was like, oh, there it is, okay. Just these things that you really got to be a Remy head to pick out. But yeah, anyway, it's fun to just get a taste of Remy, the hand poking out of the sand.

The ring is still on the claw like hand sticking out of the sand. It's ridiculous, because there's no way in that period of time. The tides would have buried her, but I'm okay with it, because it's perfect. Of course. It's hilarious. And it's exactly the pose that she had in showing, and you know what it is right away. That's the great thing. Who it is, what it is, because he does such a great job setting it up at the beginning of the movie. It's awesome. Right. Because when they're introduced, like you said, she's doing that. And then it's kind of sad in the end when you realize, oh, this, this fiance of Bradley is actually kind of nice, or at least conscientious, because she knows Linda's name. She remembers her name, but she's kind of a bitch to her when Bradley is giving her the pep talk or whatever, and she's like, mm-hmm, that kind of thing. That's true. And I was fine with her getting killed. That's true. I mean, there is no point along this that I'm not on Linda little side, no matter what

is happening. Right. By the third act of this movie, it kind of becomes a slasher film, and she is the killer, right? She's the one that's sort of torturing Bradley, right? So we're talking about it, the climax of the movie, Linda has an unloaded shotgun. We don't know it's unloaded. And he sort of confesses his love for her confesses in her quotes, right? And he's basically telling her what he thinks she wants to hear. Does she want to hear that? Like what does she actually want? She wants to stay on the island and just be the two of them, and they have this love affair, and they're just live as island people for the rest of their lives. My feeling for it is that she has been held down for so long that she's really intoxicated on the power exchange between them. I don't think she's in love with him, because how could you love him?

He's such a piece of shit, unless it's like that toxic relationship is what she goes for, and she had it with her ex, the back and forth. But I feel like she... She does sort of like, lear at him, or like, you know, she admires him when she sees him naked, nude, right? That's true. There is that weird point where she throws the quote at him that he gave to the admin assistant. He was interviewing, which what was it? It was like... How far above and beyond are you willing to go? Something like that. The mind game she's playing with him, the castration scene. Oh, yeah. Okay, this is where she is peaking and showing her crazy. She's out of the closet. She's a psycho. Right. But then I was, like, such... I'm like, wow, I didn't see that coming. Did you see it coming? No, I thought she was castrating it. And it was just a rat, right? Yeah. It was a fat rat, both flat and blue. A bleeding rat, yeah. Her sense of control through it, keeping it together the whole time while he is falling

apart. And that's part of why I think she was addicted to the power. Yeah, I agree with you. She was cheating, right? Because she had access to the house. That's where all the fruit's coming from. That's where this awesome sushi platter is coming from. Like, she is showering. Well, I can't be where the fruit's coming from. No, it is because there's no fruit around them. Like, where else is she giving it? Oh, so it's getting the fridge docked for whenever these people are coming? 100%. They must be coming soon. Maybe. How long is the fruit going to last even in the fridge? You... Who knows? It's a billionaire's getaway who basically sounds like has abandoned it or is just not... Doesn't come to it very often. So she happens to see the boat. That's not a rescue boat. That's a... Which we think it is. When we flash back to it, it's actually just supply. So we have a freshly stocked air conditioned sort of oasis that she can get to that only she has access to. That's where she gets the knife, obviously. Yeah. You know?

So she's literally just toying with him the entire time and, you know, getting off on it. So, yeah. I'm with you. Like, I think that none of this was meant to be permanent. She just didn't want it to end. Not just yet. Yeah. And the timing of the fiance showing up is terrible because it's right after she just pretended to castrate him, which is probably his lowest moment, you know. Yeah. The satisfying revenge part of this, I mean, for anyone who has been underestimated and passed over for someone else who clearly doesn't deserve it. Yeah. It's just such a satisfying watch. I mean, who hasn't felt that? Totally. Absolutely. The only person I feel bad for is the Thai boat driver. Yes. Poor guy. Yeah. Especially when you say I'm bludgeoned at the end as they're revealing. Oh, jeez. Oh, jeez. But I mean, from the get go, when she does say to him, when they're going on that hike,

do not go past that rock formation because there's poisonous vines and thorns. And I like, oh, fuck, there's something over there. And she, this is where I'm like, okay. Yeah. This is where I know that she's not quite being honest with him. The reveal of the house, the guy sitting next to me in the theater was like, I fucking knew it. I knew it. It was great. It was great. It is nice when you have that kind of audience participation and enthusiasm. Yeah. It was a nice full house. It was like three weeks, two weeks after it came out. And the place was full and a random, uh, was afternoon we saw it, right? Yeah. So Saturday afternoon, Valentine's day, it was packed and people were loving it. If I were to redo it, I would have seen it in 3D. I'm anti 3D, but from what I've heard, I heard the blank check guy's talking about it. I think Griffin saw it in 4DX. He said it was incredible. So are you getting, like, douche with water? You're getting, like, little spritzes of water and, uh, the, you know, moved around and

stuff. So the bore fight would have been incredible, but I think it would have been a bridge too far for you. I don't think you would have been able to handle it. All offense. No, I, I do think that I could just do what I always do. I know. Yeah, but you put up your hand and there's, there's, it's not spreading out. No, they couldn't be throwing viscous material at you at least. It's not. No, but it's still, you're looking at it's not, but it's, but it's, but it's, yeah, the last thing we need. Let's talk about the survivor part of the, oh, yeah. It was beyond hard to watch. I wanted them all dead as soon as they started watching her survivor application in front of her. I'm like, it's okay. Just kill them now. I will still be happy. It's crazy. I'll walk into the theater. What? 20 minutes in and it's over. Fuck it. They deserve to all die right now. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. As a survivor head, Linda little, not that weird to me, right? At all. Not at all.

Like, uh, I've drank an entire bottle of wine after a very hard day of work talking to my dog, not my bird, but my dog. My sleepy. Yeah. I enjoy a tuna sandwich at work, you know, I get shit all over myself. I do not pay attention to what I'm wearing. I am head to toe and fabletics most days. So it's, uh, I get you. And the survivor part of it is just, yeah, actually pretty good audition tape I, in my mind. Fucking great. From the survivor angle of it. Yeah. She got onto the survivor and at the end of the movie, she's like famous for being a real life survivor, like wish fulfilled times a million and you are on an island with what turned out to be four other people and you were the last one standing, the one soul survivor. It's awesome. No Jeff Probe, Stephen. That's an extra bonus on top of it with apologies to you, Jeff, but imagine Jeff being

there talking through every single moment of that. Oh my God, that would be a hilarious little overdubbed to do. Oh God. That would have been a great line if she, after she kills the bore, that's how you do it on survivor. You know, she just says, oh God, that would be perfect. Yeah. Seeing this fucker poison her with that dinner and then rushing out on this janky raft and she's like, okay, this is going to be fun to watch. Just so embarrassing and he's just such a shit. On top of that, he gets his face puked on over and over again as his comic reward. Right. I think that was probably the most psychotic thing that Linda does is rescue him while she's still poisoned because it's her perfect out, right?

Is like, let him die. Like he poisoned me and then got on a raft, tried to left me for dead literally and then drowns, you know, trying to escape. And then, you know, then she goes, feeling the way she's feeling for no other reason than to continue torturing this man. That's true. Just a chef's kiss, awesome. Like, this is one of the all time great villains, I think. Yeah. And you don't at that point, I still didn't think she was a psycho. But when you, when you think about it after, she's like, if we were to watch it again, it would be like seeing the buildup. Yeah. Which, yeah. That'll be a fun rewatch. Yeah. For sure. Now that you mentioned that part. Yeah. So did you have a favorite part of this movie? The bore fight I thought was awesome, in spite of the fact that it's clearly a CGI sort of ramped up version of a wild boar, right?

It would have to be like, on cocaine, right? Yeah. Just in just even the look on its face was snarling and just the ferocity of it. I mean. What was that movie? The Coke Bear. A cocaine bear? A cocaine bear? A cocaine bear? Something like that. Bears on Coke. Does sounds like an afterschool special bear song coke? Cocaine, bear you're right. Cocaine bear. 2023. Yeah. That was really not that long ago. Yeah. Matthew Rees is in that movie. Kind of want to see it. But he's only in the first five minutes, apparently. That would explain the bore's behavior. That was. Right. But it even looked like deranged, right? Yeah. Like, you know, not that I've seen a wild boar up close or anything, but I thought that it was great. And it's one of those great Sam Raimi tropes where you think it's over and it's not over. Like, she has to literally bludgeon it to death and the gore is just so ramped up. It's almost kill bill level of, you know, spurting blood so much blood. But it's awesome, man, like, you know, and then, and then the very satisfying throwing

the boar's head onto the beach and it just happens to land perfectly to spray, Bradley, like right in the face, completely covered in blood, it's, it's awesome. I wonder if that, like, that gutter juice is flowing to really slip into psycho mode. Yeah. Maybe. Maybe. There is a transformation beyond the physical, right? I mean, like, I think they do a pretty good job of making Rachel McAdams look pretty frumpy in the beginning of it. It's still Rachel McAdams. Yeah. She's still fucking the smoke show, right? You know, then she has the glow up, which we're used to seeing on survivor. It's not just taking off your glasses. It's, I murdered a boar and it shows. That's right. And I'm thriving and I got a little bit of, you know, sand and whatever and a little tint to her hair. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. You know, and also it's Rachel McAdams, again, can a national treasured. They literally just used words to make her unattractive though as well. Because he's talking about her odor and you immediately go, oh, yes, she's, she wasn't

tied in the trailer. It seemed like she was talking about, he was talking about the odor, but he's specifically referring to the, the tuna, the, the tuna in the desk, right? It's still like somebody that reeks of tuna, you kind of go, okay. As someone who lives with people who eat sardines constantly, oh, my God, I can relate to Bradley in this case, and I started that trend. Yeah. Thank you for that. Thank you for that. It's really good for you, even if the entire house fucking reeks on the daily. It's pretty bad. It's pretty bad. Lincoln just went back to his flat house and you were like, oh, you want to take some sardines with you? And I was like, are you going to take the ball? Please take the ball. No, I was like, he takes them there. I know. I know. And he's like, yeah, give me those sardines. Like, this guy's going to get thrown out of that. He's got a little, uh, little, little, little, he does, he does. I'm happy with how it all works out. She is the hero anti hero.

What is it? Anti hero for sure. You're rooting for her the whole time, as you said, and it's, it's just great. It doesn't even matter how psychotic she becomes. Right. I'm still on her side, but I guess that maybe that's a female bias. Is that possible? I don't think so. I was just as angry as anybody I would think. The sad sort of undertone of it all is that she has to sink to that level to, to get ahead, I guess. And I guess that's kind of the dark message of this, right? She always seems to be the better person all the way through even after she pretends to kill that rat. Right. Okay. You're not stupid to his level. And you're like, oh, wait, she was the entire time now that I think about it. Right. And just she did such a good job of covering it up. Right. I mean, the, the, the Rubicon is obviously, you know, murdering the tight, uh, boat, the, boat guy.

That all the pieces stuck into place. Right. But I think that was, you see the hesitation, you know, everything, like she does say that great line after the fake castration, which is don't mistake my kindness for weakness. Right. Great line, a bit of a cliche line, but works perfect. So I don't think she's actually, I think she's still toying with him and having fun, obviously, and thriving. But the bridge too far, though, or the crossing over into actual psychopath is that moment where she can't just let it happen, right? And anymore, because there is a chance that the tie guy is going to rescue the fiance. So she has to actually actively murder them. Okay. Let's just pretend that this is a choose your own adventure and at that point, she does let them live. Like, doesn't, they go and they save him. This is right after the pseudo castration, I mean, they're pretty even Steven at this part, aren't they? Because she, he just tried to poison her to escape.

Like, what did she do besides when they were drunk together, say, I'd like to stay here forever that she would be somehow like she did something wrong. No, but that's not what it's about. It's, no, I know it's not what it's about, but would she look like the bad person if they were to save them at that point? I mean, he's definitely got strikes against her. But yeah, as you say, they are pretty even Steven, but the point is that the old world is back and the hierarchy is reestablished right away, right? Even if she decides she's going to, yes, and she's not ready for that and she doesn't want that. And so she does what she does. She keeps playing chess and by the end she is king. Yeah. Checkmate. Yeah. But we didn't see him die on screen. So who knows? And also, you know, there's some parts of this, which is like, okay, there's a guy that owns that house and there's a murdered dude who the world knows that they were together

on the plane. So somehow she must have, you know, cleaned up. Yeah. Yeah. I guess. It doesn't matter. The body, all those bodies are lost at sea. Right. Why wouldn't his be? Right. His fiance could have just gotten lost at sea, too, with her rescuers. You know, I've seen enough CSI to know that there's evidence always around. That's all I'm saying.
