This is Corey, and here's what is making news across Tampa Bay right now. Friday marks day 34 in the search for Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of NBC Today show host Savannah Guthrie. She disappeared from her Tucson area home on February 1st, and officials believed she was taken against her will. The FBI has released video of a suspect at her door that night. Earlier this week, deputies conducted door-to-door searches in her neighborhood and asked residents within two miles to review surveillance footage from late January through early February for anything suspicious. Crews also used metal detectors at the home to look for small clues. Savannah Guthrie visited the Today Show studio on Thursday to thank her colleagues, though she plans to return on air only when ready. Her family laid flowers outside the home on Monday and expressed thanks for public prayers and support. A glove found just over two miles away had DNA from a nearby restaurant worker who has no link to the case.
Other gloves are under-testing at a lab in Florida. Meanwhile, TMZ reported a detailed ransom email demanding cryptocurrency payment, which they forwarded to the FBI. The family offers $1 million for information leading to Nancy's safe return. Contact the FBI at 1-800-call FBI or submit tips through the Pima County Sheriff's online form.
