Search and Rescue Dog Handler Attacked in Bangor

0:00On March 28, a surgeon rescue dog handler and his canine partner got jumped by a pack of youths in Bangor Town Center, Kodown, last Friday night, around 7.50pm. Ryan Gray from canine search and rescue in his dog Max were just out socializing off-duty when about 15-20 teens turned aggressive after a verbal exchange. Gray took multiple punches to the face and Max got kicked several times. Police rolled up to the high street area to find the group scattering in dark clothes. They've got video footage showing the attack and a follow-up assault despite some folks trying to step in. Gray ended up in an ANE for treatment and Max saw of that right away. Locals are fed up, calling these kids feral and pointing to a string of chaos, like abusing families near play parks, soaking elderly shoppers and...trashing property. A community group posted online worrying about safety, especially for women alone, while North-Down MLA Stephen Dunn slammed the attacks in damage, to shops and churches.

1:02K-9's search and rescue confirmed the assault, thanks supporters, but asked everyone to let cops handle it. This hit right after they celebrated opening a new base in town earlier that week. Police are probing multiple anti-social reports over recent weeks, boosting patrols with partners like the council and street pastors. They're urging anyone with info or footage to come forward to help nail those responsible and keep bang or safe.
