He believes studios need to see a few other R-rated comedies do well first to get excited about the idea again. Scott explained that the industry might change his mind once those films prove audiences still want that kind of humor. Right now, executive seem hesitant without fresh proof. The original American Pie hit theaters back in 1999 and kicked off a popular series. It starred folks like Jason Biggs, Shannon Elizabeth, Thomas Ian Nicholas, Eddie K. Thomas, Chris Klein, Allison Hannigan, and Eugene Levy. The main movies wrapped up with American reunion in 2012. Fans have been hoping for more ever since, but the box office hasn't cooperated lately. For now, the wait continues as Hollywood test the waters with similar comedies. If a couple hit big, it could open the door for the Pie crew to reunite.
