Seahawks Weigh Coleman Draft, Prioritize Gaps

0:00On March 31st, the Seattle Seahawks moved on from Kenneth Walker III in free agency, signing Emmanuel Wilson as a backup option. Now they're checking out local running bag Jonah Coleman from the University of Washington, who's projected as the fourth or fifth back taken in the 2026 draft. General manager John Schneider has hinted running bags aren't a huge priority, but Coleman's strong season has them interested around there. 64th pick, Coleman just wrapped a solid meeting with the team, and his Washington roots make him tempting. He's a smart runner, with great vision, solid blocking, and past catching skills, putting of 1,811 rushing yards and 25 touchdowns over two years, plus 54 catches for 531 yards. That said, fans and analysts are split on the fit. Coleman's more of a short yardage grinder, without elite speed or big-play juice, sounding a lot like Zach Scharvenay already on the roster. Drafton Coleman now would waste a mid-round spot when the team could rebuild the backfield smarter next year. Bottom line, pass on the hometown hype and plug those real gaps. Seahawks stay ahead by playing the long game on this one.
