Seahawks Overpay for Shaheed, Expect Big Returns

On March 10th, the Seattle Seahawks kicked off free agency by losing several key players

from their Super Bowl run, but they held on to White Receiver.

Rashid Shaheed, with a three-year, $51 million contract.

That deal averages $17 million a year, locking him in long-term after a mid-season trade.

They gave up a 2026 fourth-round pick and a fifth-rounder to acquire Shaheed, who knew

the offense from his time with the previous coordinator.

In Seattle, though, he managed just 15 catches for 188 yards and no touchdowns over the

rest of the season.

Fans and analysts see the price tag as a bit high, especially since projections pegged

him at $3.42 million.

His role was mostly as a decoy and special team's guy, with a couple stand-out play-out

plays like a 51-yard grab and a kick return score.

Now with that big payday, expectations are sky high for Shaheed to deliver more consistently,

especially building chemistry with quarterback Sam.

Darnold, under the new offensive coordinator.

The team likely overpaid partly because the old coordinator left for Las Vegas, making

other spots less ideal for him.

Marketcom show he's pricier than deals for guys like Deebo Samuel or Tyree Kill, but Seattle

bet big on his upside to bolster the passing game.
