Seahawks Hire HBCU Coach, Boost Offense

0:00On March 16th, the Seattle Seahawks, fresh off their Super Bowl victory, continue to build ties with historically black colleges and universities. Last week, they signed Running Back Emanuel Wilson from Fort Valley State, and now they brought on Jonathan Williams as an offensive assistant, Coach. Williams joins from South Carolina State, where he served as offensive coordinator under Chinnas Berry. Over the past two seasons, he helped lead the Bulldogs to back-to-back celebration bullwins and MEAC titles, with their offense putting up an average. Of 32.4 points per game, before coaching, Williams starred as a quarterback at Grambling State in the early 2010s. He topped the Southwestern Athletic Conference in several passing stats during 2014 and 2015, and earned three MVP honors in the Bayou Classic. The Seahawks' space challenges ahead, having lost Super Bowl MVP running back Kenneth Walker III to the Kansas City Chiefs in Free Agency. Williams steps in to bolster the staff, alongside fellow HBCU products, Quincheon Odom from Shaw University, and assistant head coach Leslie Frazier.
