Scottish Teachers Call Off Strikes, Workload Deal Reached

The Educational Institute of Scotland called off planned strikes at schools, in places like Glasgow, East Rinfru Shire, Dundee, Five Perth, and Kinross, and Morei. Earlier this week, unions struck a deal with the Scottish government on cutting teacher workloads. Council leaders through Kostla gave it the green light, ending months of tension. Union members had voted overwhelmingly in favor of action, with 85% backing strikes over broken promises to reduce maximum class time by 90 minutes. The push stemmed from a 2021 election pledge that hadn't been met, affecting teaching hours across the board. Now with agreement in place, workload should lighten up, opening doors for more jobs for newly qualified teachers, and keeping classrooms running smoothly.
