Scorching Heat Wave: US Records Highest March Temp

A small desert town in Southern California called North Shore hit 108 degrees Fahrenheit on Wednesday that tied the highest March temperature ever recorded in the United States. Forecasts warn the extreme winds are heat across the southwest will last through the weekend. Nearby Thermal could reach 110 degrees on Friday. The North Shore mark matched a record first set in Texas back in 1954. Night time offered little break with Phoenix notching a March 19th overnight low of 69 degrees. Daytime highs in Phoenix will top 105 degrees Thursday and possibly more Friday. That's wild since the city's average first 105 degree day doesn't come until May 22nd. The last time Phoenix saw triple digits in March was nearly 40 years ago. Other spots shattered records too. Las Vegas reached 99 degrees beating its previous March high. Downtown Los Angeles hit 94 topping a 1997 mark while Palm Springs tied 104 degrees from 1966.
