Save Campbell STEM: Assembly, School Board Seek Funding Boost

Leaders from the Anchorage Assembly and School Board say they could save Campbell-Stem Elementary School from closure, but only with a permanent boost. Campbell-Stem stands out as the state's only accredited STEM Magnet School, with a waitlist despite the district's budget woes and families had just three days to react when the closure was announced. Meanwhile, community councils are urging the assembly to reject the district's $604,500,000 budget to force a, rethink, but City Code requires approval leaving little room to maneuver. State lawmakers have introduced bills for more school funding, and board members say action must come fast before staff assignments start next month,
