Sanders Leads Browns QB Battle

0:00On March 31st, the Cleveland Browns kicked off the 2026 off-season with a new head coach, Todd Monkin, after parting ways with Kevin. Stofansky following a rocky 2025 season. Right now they've got a quarterback battle brewing between Shader Sanders and Dylan Gabriel, but Sanders is already turning heads with the coaching, Steph. Monkin almost coached Sanders in Baltimore last year when the Ravens eyed him in the draft and they built a real connection since. Sanders has been putting in serious time at the team facility these past few months, even hooking Monkin up with a special birthday gift not long ago. Meanwhile, Gabriel hasn't shown up much as far as Monkin knows. Last season, Sanders stepped in after Gabriel's concussion sideline him in week 11. He threw for 1,400 yards, seven touchdowns, and 10 picks over about half the games, still earning a pro-bowl nod for his flashes. Of brilliance, Gabriel had started earlier when Joe Flacco couldn't get it done, but neither fully sealed the deal.

1:01At the league meetings this week, Monkin dropped that off-season reps won't split evenly. One quarterback gets the lion's share based on what they've seen from last year and how it ended. Sanders clearly left the strongest mark there. The Browns might grab another arm in the draft, but with Sanders impressing early, he looks like the front runner to run the show come next season.
