At upcoming NFL lead meetings, other owners will vote on whether he can create a succession plan. This would let Silver Lake co-chief executive, Egon Durbin, buy a majority stake if Davis steps down someday. Davis has no immediate plans to sell his controlling interest, but getting approval now would keep that option open for later. Owners will also vote on him selling about 7% of the team to Durbin and another partner, Michael Meldman. Mark Davis took over full ownership in 2011 after his father, Al Davis passed away. At age 71, he's an only child with no kids, so planning ahead makes sense for the franchise's stability. Raider's fans have only known Davis family leadership for decades.
