Saints Restructure Contracts, Gain Cap Space

The New Orleans Saints kicked off March 5th with a pair of contract restructurs just like they did last year. First, they reworked Chase Young's deal, which saved the team about $10.9 million and pushed them right to the edge of salary cap. Compliance Later that same day, they restructured Justin Reed's base salary, converting most of his $9,250,000 into a signing bonus. That move frees up $6,360,000 in cap space for this year. This keeps Reed locked in for another season, even after a down year in 2025. With promising safety, Jonas Sanker stepping up, and Julian Blackman back on the roster, the Saints now have a crowded room at the position. Overall, these changes flipped the Saints into positive cap territory by about $5.6 million. It's a shift from past years when they were always scraping for room.
