New Orleans Saints coach Kellen Moore inherited a shaky offensive line and acted fast after training camp injuries sideline key backups. To shore things up, the team traded with the Dallas Cowboys for offensive tackle as in Richards, sending over a 2028 6-round pick and getting a 7th rounder in return. He's joined as a 25-year-old veteran with three NFL seasons under his belt, standing 6 feet 4 inches and weighing 300, 7 pounds. A former 5th round pick out of North Carolina, he brought versatility to both tackle spots and was set to back up Starter's Kelvin Banks Jr. and Tally S. Fawaga. Injuries hit early, thrusting Richards into action during the season opener when Fawaga went down. He stepped in for nearly half that game and earned 4 stars total over 15 appearances, often in jumbo packages or filling in for nagging, issues.

1:00His workload jumped to a career high 363 offensive snaps, mostly a right tackle plus 58 on special teams. Results were uneven though, with solid run blocking but clear weakness is holding up against past rushers. Looking ahead, Richards stays on a contract through 2026 at a low cap number, making him a likely swing back up again, but he'll need sharper play to fend off challengers in camp.
