0:00Heads up, Sacramento drivers, a major connector on the highways is shutting down this Friday night. The link from Northbound Highway 99 to Eastbound Highway 50 will close for 15 hours straight. It kicks off at 10 p.m., Friday and stays shut until 1 p.m., Saturday, all to push forward construction work. Caltrans has a detour, mapped out to keep you moving, but expects some extra time on the road, so map your route early and avoid the hassle. The alternate pass sends you west on Highway 50, exit at 16th Street, loop through W Street and 15th, then hop back on Eastbound at 16th. This fits into the bigger Fix 50 project, with more closures lined up, so stay tuned to traffic apps and drive safe out there. I'm Corey with the story, that's your California news today update, AI powered and always on.
