Ryan Gosling's Hail Mary Mission

He's not a trained astronaut but ends up on a solo deep space mission to a distant star. The goal is to study some strange energy there and beam back data to save Earth from disaster. It's a desperate long shot effort, just like the football play it's named after. In the trailer, Grace makes an unexpected friend along the way. It's a rock like alien from another world, also trying to rescue its own planet. The two team up, turning a lonely trip into something more hopeful. Gosling drew inspiration from Charlie Chaplin's classic film, Modern Times for his role. He focused on the scene where Chaplin gets tangled in factory machines, all clumsy and chaotic. That shaped how Grace moves in zero gravity, full of mishaps and realism, instead of smooth space ballet like in older movies, these scenes show plenty of bumps and bruises.
