Royce Lewis Returns, Abel on IL: Twins Update

He missed nine gains with his brain left knee after feeling a pop during a swing on April 9th. Before the injury, Lewis hit 222 with two doubles, two homers, eight RBI's, and an 822 OPS over 12 games. On his rehab stand with Triple A St. Paul, he smashed two homers in just two gains showing he's ready to roll. Meanwhile, the team put lefty reliever Cody Funderberg on the paternity list and called up Kendri Rojas from St. Paul. Rojas, a Cuban lefty, and the 10th ranked prospect in their system, came over in a trade last summer. They also placed starting pitcher Mick Abel on the 15-day injury list Monday with right elbow inflammation. Abel had a career high 10 strikeouts in a win over Boston on April 14th, stretching his score of the streak to 14 innings. Manager Derek Shelton calls a minor with no structural damage, so they're playing it safe early in the season to get him fully healthy for the long haul.
