Romance Fraudster Jailed for Devastating Scams

0:00On March 14th, a 35-year-old woman from Great Yarmouth in Norfolk has been sentenced to two years and nine months in prison for romance. Fraud. Liani Robson targeted lonely men she met on Facebook, dating, scamming nine victims out of more than 8,000 pounds over 14 months last year. She started with small requests for cash, like 10 or 20 pounds, then escalated to larger sums by spinning tales of hardship such as health, crises or family tragedies. Once she had the money, she blocked the men when they asked questions, and none of it has been recovered. The victim shared deep emotional pain and court statements, describing shattered trust, embarrassment, and withdrawal from dating. One man emptied his account down to his last one pound and seven pence, while others spelt unlovable and isolated after the betrayal. Robson, a mother of six, already on license for prior frauds with dozens of convictions, was caught after a victim's carer raised the alarms, uncovering the full pattern. She admitted to five counts and asked for two more to be noted.
