About this episode
Episode 554
Nick the Rat comes at you straight from the sewer with a full dose of 2026 dread. Nick breaks down his new side hustle training AI (yes, he's literally getting paid to help the robots learn), reacts to Bill Gates' essay on which jobs might survive the AI takeover, and dives deep (CLANKER TALK!) into the World Humanoid Robot Games where China cleaned house with hundreds of competing bots doing everything from tug-of-war to breakdancing. From there it's a grim tour through a catastrophic Nepal glacier collapse, a stacked week of celebrity deaths, and physicist Sabine Hossenfelder's takedown of the quantum computing hype cycle.
Then the mailbag opens up: donations, snacks, a Dame Nancy shoutout, and a couple of unhinged voicemails including a surprise appearance from the sewer's least favorite squatter, Xindu. Nick riffs on AI art discourse (with an assist from Dr. Dre), reviews the dino disaster flick "End of Oak Street," previews GTA 6 and the Witcher 3 remaster, and closes out with some real talk about the job hunt grind. Grab a snack, settle into the sewer, and let's get depressed together... value for value, baby.
