Resistance Responsibility

About this episode

We don’t just vote for policies. We vote for the people who decide who holds power.

The founders built a system to check power, requiring the Senate to confirm presidential nominees to prevent unfit people from taking office. But when we adopted direct election of senators, we didn’t just gain influence. We took on responsibility.

If senators confirm unqualified or unfit individuals, that responsibility doesn’t stop with them.

It comes back to us.

So the question isn’t just who they confirmed.

The question is: who put them there?
