We open up about early challenges, the fear that shadows adversity, and the surprising freedom that comes from realizing your world doesn’t collapse when comfort does. From growing up around chaos to finding steady ground, we show how hardship can sharpen character, soften judgment, and build a calm kind of confidence that carries through every arena of life.

0:00Welcome to Let It Be Easy with Susie Moore. Benjamin Disraeli said, There's no education like adversity. Isn't this true? And yet we fear adversity so much? I had the gift of an early challenge in my life growing up with parents who had a very dysfunctional relationship. We lived on welfare. We lived in a series of domestic violence shelters. And guess what? My world did not collapse. Certainly there were difficult periods. There was sadness, certainly very present in my body during lots of different times growing up for me. But my life continued. And today I have to say, a lot of things don't scare me. I know how I've lived.
1:00I know where I've come from. And that gives me great strength. I was listening to a child psychologist recently say that when parents swoop in and solve problems, you're really doing your children a disservice. Because what that means is they never have to test themselves. They never have to figure something out. It's like the old saying that rough seas, sorry, smooth seas, not rough seas, never made a good sailor. We need to experience hard times and we don't need to shield other people from hard times. We can be there. We can support. We can be a sounding board. But adversity is part of the human experience. And I don't know about you. But when you've met people who've had hard experiences in your life, to me they're kinder. To me they're less judgmental. To me they're frankly more interesting. Whatever it is that you're going through right now, whatever feels hard, whatever's a struggle,
2:01whatever is making you want to go, I give up. What if one day that's your Oprah story? What if that's in your memoir? What if you take a snapshot of this season in time? And one day go, wow, I'm so happy I persevered through that. Even though I thought all hope was gone. My friends, adversity is your friend. This is where grit and resilience come from. There are no two ways about it. And all tomorrow, so much love and ease. Hey friend, I've got something really cool for you. I want to give you free access to my signature course called Slay Your Year, which typically sells for $1,197. You can check it out all the details at slayyouryear.com.
