Here's the reporting project with local stories that matter in our community.
This is Nora Meeks from the reporting project with some news stories happening near you.
The Licking County Humane Society named Jane Tomsich as its new executive director.
Tomsich is taking over from Laurie Carlson who served as the Humane Society's first executive
director from 2011 to 2025. Also, Alexandria Village Council is considering cuts to its services
including closing the police department. The council met on March 3rd to discuss and finalize
a budget. The council will resume that discussion during its next meeting on March 17th.
The village will ask voters in the May primary to approve an income tax increase that would help
address the town's financial issues. And finally, in Buckeye Lake, the 200-year-old Holtzberry
log cabin was moved last week. This is the building's second move since it was built in the early 1800s.
With funding from donors, the village hired movers to carry the building through town to a park
near the entrance to the village. One resident called the cabin the world's oldest mobile home
as it rolled through town. I'm Nora Meeks and that's the latest from the reporting project.
