Red-Light Runner Kills Sarasota Man in Manatee County Crash

0:00In Tampa Bay today, March 2nd, a 53-year-old Sarasota man died after a two-vehicle crash in Manatee County on Sunday afternoon. Florida Highway Patrol says it happened just before 4 p.m. on 53rd Avenue West at the T Intersection with 20th Street West. A 19-year-old Bradinson man driving a Ford Mustang ran a red light while heading west. He slammed into a Ford F-150 that was turning left from Southbound 20th Street West. The F-150 had a green light and was driven by a 38-year-old Bradinson man. His passenger, the Sarasota man, suffered critical injuries in the side-impact collision. Both truck occupants were rushed to the hospital. The passenger later died from his injuries there. Meanwhile, the Mustang driver and the F-150 driver both have serious injuries but survived. This crash highlights dangers at busy intersections, especially with red light runners. No charges have been announced yet. Officials with Florida Highway Patrol are still investigating the wreck.
