Reckless Driver Charged in Fatal Crash

A woman in Jefferson County, Alabama, faces charges in a fatal car crash that took the life of 57-year-old Jody Lynn Owens from Cordova. The collision happened around 7.30 a.m. on March 21st, 2025, along the 2100 block of Alliance Road, where Owens died right there at the scene. Now, more than a year later, prosecutors have filed a formal complaint against the other driver, Stacey Thomas Mosley, accusing her of reckless behavior that caused the wreck. According to the court filing in Birmingham Division District Court, Mosley allegedly sped through the area, passed another car the wrong way, and crossed into oncoming traffic just before impact. This has brought fresh attention to road safety in that rural stretch, where locals have long worried about dangerous passing maneuvers.
