I am Brian Nemhouser, and I love the fact that the guys still don't know that when I say, okay, we're going to get going, and I click that it records the first few things that you say before the countdown. So, hopefully everyone got to enjoy Evan telling Jeff that he should add his tag to his handle. And then here we go with Nathan Ernst joining us. Late, he had his Microsoft problems. It's the only thing I can genuinely call them.
2:02But, dude, let's hear if your sound is good. I don't know if it's my sound good. I wonder what it could show. It's like synced up, too. Good job, dude. I got on 4.45. I was like, I don't have my normal setup. I want to do a little testing. Surely, Brian or someone will be on with plenty of time to test and get it all taken care of. Not, y'all jumped on at 559, and then I had a minor technical difficulty. Now, I'm the late one. Wow. We see you in 4K, too. This is like a premium subscription. I feel like I'm paying or something. We'll see how long it lasts. This episode is brought to you by Pemko. It's taken care of Northwest Homes for 75 years and by PrizePix. Jeff Simmons in his new digs up there in Canada. Jeff, how are you hanging out in your new place? You ready to watch Siox Football for the first time, really, in your new spot?
3:05It's still so weird. I think Evan put it a tweet today that just like his brain can't process. That there's a game in three days. Two days now. I think the game's in. It's just so weird still. The whole summer just flew by and I busted out some of my Super Bowl gear again today for this show. But it just doesn't feel real yet. I don't know. Maybe it'll be Wednesday, Brian. You're down there a little time. So you probably feel a bit differently. But like, I'm still like struggling to process that there's a game this week. It is weird. Evan, you know, you've been randomly texting that you can't believe the Siox won the Super Bowl throughout the last few months. Yeah. Two days from now. It's a new season. How are you handling this mentally? You know, if you'd asked me this question 24 hours ago, I still wouldn't have believed you that there's like a football game in three days. But I woke up this morning with some anxiety. I was like, oh, we're two days away from this. Like, Super Bowl banners being dropped. I have a little bit of anxiety about our injury report and some players who may or may not play.
4:07I think I'm starting to see some of the media glazing. Just get to new levels with the Rams. And I think that's starting to irritate me as well. But I think my anxiety returned today for the first time to be frank. Am I in a different spot than you guys? I don't know. I mean, Nathan, if I don't know how much you've been keeping up with the injury report, this current state of affairs is Tio Cotta almost certainly is not going to play. And he didn't practice for the second straight day. The game's like two days from now. So it doesn't seem likely. Nicki Minaj or his Jones kind of let the cat out of the bag. Not going to play. You're already having some question marks at cornerback. And we'll see what happens there. So, I'm not going to worry Horton while he's practicing. Probably, you know, pretty unlikely to play in this game as well. How much do you think that matters? I mean, the safety situation, I think, definitely matters.
5:09That's some, I mean, because there's also Bud Clark on top of that. None of New injury, obviously, but you're now three safeties down. So that's concerning, for sure. But I am not yet stressing. And I kind of need Mike McDonald to give me a reason to stress before I'm going to have a lot of anxiety about this team. Because they've just been a machine and like, they're not going to win every game. They could definitely drop this one. It's a good team and they're a little banged up. But I just, I don't know, this team just takes care of business. And I don't have any reason to think that they're not going to go out there. And at the very least, make it a really good game that is going to come down to the wire. Jeff, where are you on that? Look, I think we all would admit the safety position is like, pretty perilous right now.
6:09It's super thin. I'm not that worried about it. I think Ronnie Thomas has played before, like, he could play a game if he has to start. And if O'Cotta had like a long-term injury, they got 10 days off after. I'm more looking at this as like a sprint. And I mean, not the sprint, it's like the full marathon. I think they weren't pretty good position where even worry will be back in the next week or two. O'Cotta should be back soon. And they should be able to just play a game. But yeah, there are DB situation. If you just look at what the Super Bowl was, you're talking about a team that won't have this week, probably even worry, Wulin, Bryant. And those were a bunch of starters. Like last year, they played a bunch of games with that witherspoon and Julian Love. And they were able to win. And those were their two best DB's name. Even Nick was probably on some of those games. So I think they should be fine. I felt a little better seeing the Patriots' ed rush group. I felt a little better seeing that. I didn't know when we did our preview Bryan on Saturday that Harold Andrew was on the public list. And when there ESPN writer put out to say what their depth chart was at Edge,
7:11it is like, it's, I think the guy in your show this week, Bryan said it's probably the worst position group in the league for Edge. And it was pretty shocking to see a group that week for a Super Bowl team. So I felt a little better. Overall, I think the Ceeox are pretty good shape, health wise. But yeah, if you're a thing here, the safety's are not a concern. You're pretty bold right now. Evan, we did see some of the injury stuff early last year, but we also saw some tough games defensively. The Tampa Bay game, for example, they were missing a lot of guys. And it was not just the secondary. They were missing the Marcus Lawrence in that game. And they ended up going down like a bunch of players. And the Bucks won that game. In Lumen Field. Now, Sam Donald played really, really well up until the very end, when he threw a pick that ended up being the end of that game. And it's kind of an interesting thing going back to that Tampa Bay game. Because at that point, that was the second home game out of the first five total games,
8:15where Sam had a turnover at the end. And the storyline was starting to build, right? It's kind of crazy how things ended up going from there. But what do you think? Like, where do you think this offense is in its ability to maybe pick up a defense that is going to be missing some pretty key guys? Yeah, it's interesting. Because when you look back at, I think the parallels compared to the Super Bowl and what's changed since then, the spot that immediately kind of jumps out to me is the Super Bowl MVP is not a seaawk anymore. Kenneth Walker had a massive game in the Super Bowl. And now they've replaced that unit with a, replace that position with the first rounder running back. I do think there is some potential actually beyond just JSN and the explosive threads across the board. I think Shaheed actually could be in for a big game. Carlton Davis, I don't know if you
9:19guys have been keeping eyes on this and training camp for the Patriots. He seems to have been struggling quite a bit. I'm just curious in terms of how that match up will look on Wednesday. I almost said almost on Sunday. But I know your question was about our offense Brian, but where my brain keeps going back to in this game, guys, is can this Patriots offensive line protect Drake May? You know, he will Campbell got absolutely abused in the Super Bowl. They're left tackle, highly drafted, gave up by 14, 15 pressures in the Super Bowl. Their interior offensive line is probably one of the worst in the NFL. Their center, I believe, is out, right for this game. No, no, no, that's a backup. The center is Jared Wilson. He was playing guard for them last year. I think is going to be better off the center anyway. So yeah, I say, so they have an injury on the interior already. I just worry, to me, it's like a prove at game for this Patriots offense. It's
10:22like there's so many doubts about that team and whether or not their path to the Super Bowl last year was legitimate or not. So many call it fluky, you know, Mickey Mouse type of Super Bowl run. I think it's as much as I'm a CEOX fan, obviously. And I'm thinking about this from my team's perspective. I think the Patriots have a lot to prove. So if you've ever furnished a restaurant, hotel, or an office, you know the drill, five vendors, five invoices, five delivery windows. But there's a better way to do this. Creighton Barrel contract is a business to business program that covers three brands. Creighton Barrel, CB2, and Creighton Kids with one account, one order, one delivery. 11:24Learn more at Creightonbarrel.com slash podcast. That's Creightonbarrel.com slash podcast. And I think they'll be judged harshly. Yeah, I actually I'm glad you brought that up because obviously we are steeped in Seahawks perspective on this. And I am kind of curious how Patriots folks are thinking it like you hear Patriots analysts and none of them are really expecting the Patriots to win this game. I mean I picked them to win this game in our prediction show. I might be the only person on either side that predicted them to win this game. And I do feel like there's a lot of folks that look at last year for the Patriots and like they played a shit schedule. And they are an unbelievable team to do it again. And they're going to fall back to the pack. I mean Nathan, he was the MVP runner up at quarterback. I yes, he went up against some bad defenses. But I don't I mean we've seen a lot of teams go up against bad defenses
12:27and not play as well as Drake May played. Usually a quarterback does a lot of heavy lifting to keep a team a good team. And especially when they also add AJ Brown and Romeo dobs and they improve their offensive line. So are you assuming that the Patriots are like a fluke from last year? A fluke as a Super Bowl team? Sure. A fluke that they're a good team? No, I don't think this was a like a below 500 team that just lucked their way into a Super Bowl run. But you know when you struggle with a Bo Nexeless Broncos team and you get creamed in the Super Bowl, yeah I think it's fair to wonder just how legitimate of a championship contender the Patriots are going to this year. Jeff, is there anything that could happen in this game? Set aside catastrophic stuff that we don't want to talk about. But like football stuff that would happen in this game that would shake your confidence in who the Cocks are going to be.
13:29Yeah, there's a few. I think the biggest thing I've been thinking about since really the offseason has been the third cornerback spot. And some of the guys who might end up playing down the stretch may not play this week. And I don't know what digs or tearing Arnold that end up playing. But that was a position where there's still going to be a lot of people who are going to be a lone Rik Wulin if that goes wrong this week. I didn't have a problem with that per se. I didn't love how they tried to replace him. And if that goes bad or Josh Job kind of takes a step back and that cornerback group is pretty bad. I think that's going to make me nervous about their ceiling because if they're going to go we're going to try to repeat they're going to have to cover the Rams and they couldn't cover the Rams last year when they had one of the best cornerback groups in the league. If that goes really bad, I think with Flurry that's the other one where if just if he looks like a total disaster. But like again Kubiak was a total disaster week one last year and they won the Super Bowl. So I think I'd have to give him some grace. But I think the cornerback one because that's the really the position on the team where you can argue that they are inferior at certain spots. That's that I think that would be the one that shook me. Can I just say something
14:35funny Brian? I've been noticing you've asked a couple of questions this past week about like the lack of play action and offensive sort of like strategy from week one of last year. And I think you even asked some questions of like what's different about this year? How would you start differently or paraphrasing blah blah blah? I thought that was funny. You asking that. Why do you think that's funny Evan? It's because you remember that. Well, Mike was pissed after that game. I mean let's rewind. Like we I mean opening day in Seattle. I was at that game like the team did not I think show up offensively. I think coaches didn't show up offensively. I really I I put a ton of that loss on the coaching staff, especially the offensive coaching staff. And Mike did the thing that head coach is supposed to do and you know he it's all coaches. But to your point after that game Evan, I asked I said Mike you guys had one play action past attempt. You were in shotgun the
15:41majority of the game. That doesn't seem like what you guys have talked about as your identity. He said this was last year. Yeah, like that's going to be a conversation. We're having those conversations now. Like it was it was like if you were Mike McDonald after going through the Ryan grub experience where the guy literally would not do what you have like he was period like going doing calling a game that you did not want to be called. And then you go through and you hire your first OC that's your guy and the first game happens and you're like what the bleep. I have to imagine there were some pretty tough conversations after that week. So I was like dude new OC. He's probably he is he going to get in his own head and start coming with some kind of crazy game plan and not just call the fricking game. Everybody to a man is like what are you talking about? Like it's going to be fun. I just appreciate that you have like a little bit of trauma from that though. Hell yeah, I've got trauma.
16:44That's such losing that game. No, but that's like ball. No, we're shit. Like like you you you you remember that moment and honest to God, I don't think I've ever seen Mike McDonald that angry in my life. Like that was bad. You I'm so glad you brought that up because he that whole week. I don't want to speak ill of my my counterparts in the media because they're it's not them, but it was such a Northwest media moment where they were like this guy's mad. I don't want to ask him a question. I might get yelled at and I'm like I don't give a shit like I'm used to conflict whatever like let's let's have a conversation. This is a big deal. But he was just radiating rage. Like he was like you can ask a question, but don't expect me to be nice about it. Yeah, okay. Like he was he was mad dude. He was mad and I think who knows how much his willingness to be that way was why they weren't that way the rest of the year. Like I didn't hate it. I see you smiling Nathan. What was your reaction
17:48all this? No, I mean I I 100% understand why that would stick with you and I'm it's a little I don't know how nonchalant they're being about it this year, but that's a little concerning. Like I'm sure that if you'd asked the question like hey Mike, do you think that Kubiak's gonna forget who he is in some of the world like the Ryan Grubb playbook in week one he'd been like no what are you talking about? So like hopefully internally there's a little bit more you know of an eye on that, but yeah I can suck last year and which is yeah I did it suck but with just such an aberration from the entire recipe. Do you remember the Jalen Milro like like experience there for a second? like I think he's a good guy. Yeah, they were great. They were really the past. They gave him a great to him. Yeah, I was great as great as Kubiak was last year. He
18:52wasn't idiot with his little with his gadget stuff. Like the Milro stuff at the start of the year was a disaster. He kept wanting to like ooh what a for shoes to heed lines up as a running back. Like I don't know it'll lose a yard like just like with like football dude like I just I guess if I was Mike McDonald that game would have been a little traumatic to me. Yeah, like I would have been like okay lesson learned as a head coach new play collar we're going to be eye to eye going because week one is weird right Jeff I mean we've talked about this and actually there there was a lot of folks like flurry yesterday. Mike McDonald said week one you have the least amount of information and you're gonna have to adjust to how the opponent's playing you you're not being able to go off of tendencies or anything like that. So I get that you're gonna adjust but shouldn't there should be a limit to how much you adjust away from like who you are identity wise.
19:53Yeah, I'll be honest. I was having doubts a little bit about Mike after that first game because I and it probably unborns it but I was just wondering like aren't you the head coach like can you stop this from happening like how does that possibly get through the whole game. We're just not like call for play action passes in a row like what are you doing because then the next week at half time if you remember they end up crushing the Steelers but that first half was pretty ugly like they were losing in a game they were just absolutely dominant and they had a couple goopy turnovers and I start to wonder if Mike is this guy in control of everything what's going on right now they're way too goofy and then lo and behold I was totally wrong and they went crazy from there so yeah that game stuck with me Brian like I definitely have from trauma from that first game because everyone was turning on darn old and everyone was turning on like the DK Medcap thing and I was like did you guys just watch the game they call I was like do we get sold a bill of goods here with kubiak and oh my god for sure I have the next game they go down the field and score so I'll never have to be crushed in comments I thought the other day but yeah I just we don't know
20:54anything about this guy. I'll never forget the arrogant tweets we saw after that game I'm not going to call anybody out but yes you are I was going to a lot of you talking about glad we saved how many million dollars like like what was it like come on guys what are we doing I tweeted that out a lot last year I thought that takes I um oh that's not what I wanted to do what does this look like oh that doesn't look good either oh there goes nice this look that's a little bit better okay so Evan I want to ask you a question here uh remember reek willen you you you heard him yeah super fun experience and a sea champion chip game how to block well he's also super fun in the first game he was he was he was he was he was he was so in the corner of the head zone there's a there's a brilliant screenshot of him by the way if I had made the same mistake I probably would have reacted the exact same way but like that was brutal so I will never forget that I walked out of the stadium that day and I someone was wearing a
21:57woolen jersey and someone else was like take that shit off and someone's like you can never wear a woolen jersey in this stadium again is there anybody that's you think on the sea ox could if they have a bad game elicit that kind of reaction um from fans like that there's that little like people are ready to pounce on somebody is there somebody that you think falls into that territory it's a good question I got a couple yeah hit us Jeff uh I think nea by a pritchet I think we see the ugly moments and if he comes out and like AJ Brown is just like dummying him and like we've seen and I think the other one Brian you're gonna get very angry when I say this one of the other ones Anthony Bradford I think he just gets like burned by Milton Williams like seven times in one game I think people are gonna go nuts I think Bradford I think the guy I'm wondering about a little bit is Josh Job I feel like the fan base is a little down on Josh Job and maybe I'm wrong but I
23:02I feel like people I see people kind of worried about him I'm not so I'm just kind of curious where you guys are on him that's interesting I haven't seen anything angst about him is it like what's the scoop I'm not I'm not I'm not tracking him there was a lot early in camp like I know cashman sent us a few things where they're clips of him like first week of camp just getting like like making plays on the over road and people were going berserk it's kind of calm down since then but yeah there were a bunch of games last year where he just looked lost and he could be a volatile player and yeah Brian I think that's a good call I think the other one is Evan's buddy Jason Myers I think that is a good call too probably like a good call out to be honest with you well and I'm also wondering anyone that got paid sometimes is a target for fans like is there a chance that if spoon gets beat by AJ Brown a couple times people are gonna freak out about him
24:04being the highest paid corner is there any gonna be anyone that's gonna freak out about I don't know who else she'd she'd probably not who else got paid Jackson and Jason Leonard Williams I don't think those guys I think they're pretty goaded for people but like I'm just thinking through now fans are like why are you talking about this I just I like anticipating where fans minds are gonna go depending on how it goes who do you think on the opposite side who do you think if they had a big game all the sudden like Jersey sales are gonna go crazy everybody's gonna be like this guys the next grade or like I love like who who's in that category price to target price right because we saw nothing from him in the preseason right highly drafted highly coveted yeah it's price it's gotta be who else is there anyone else that people could get really excited about like I've got one name that comes to mind I think a Roya Roya was one of them that's interesting spoon
25:05is on both sides of this if if he has kind of a sinker of a game that could be a lot of like we paid him how much but if he has another one of those games where he's kind of flying over and he gets a sack and he gets a pick and the teams committed to him long-term now then maybe he's a guy like not I mean he's already popular but maybe he's somebody that hit really kind of rock-aise popularity yeah I I feel like Riley Mills if he has another like Super Bowl like sack I think could get people pretty excited what do you think about Sam what's on is there anything on the line for Sam in this game I was gonna ask about him I don't I mean if he has like a four-pick game again it could get he's pretty beloved and how it feels like yeah I think he's more than like it would have to be a truly truly disastrous game I think it's gonna take him to burn through the goodwill you know what
26:07I kind of hope happens that oh go ahead yeah Evan you're gonna say something I want to hear you no no no I was listening to you one of the things that I would love to happen just because I'd be curious how everybody would react mainly the people like outside of Seattle but everyone is what happened in training camp Cooper Cup was like one of the best players offensively like he was noticeably better in this camp than last camp and was making tons of plays Cooper Cup all of a sudden had this huge game I think like national people would not know what to do with that and I think local people might be like I mean fantasy football people if JSN had four catches for 40 yards and Cooper Cup has eight catches for 130 I think people will be losing their minds for maybe sure the wrong reasons but I am wondering if something like that could happen he had a pretty good game in the Super Bowl by the way so I don't know I like he was really good in every playoff he was
27:08he could have had there was like four balls that Darnell just zipped way past him in the Super Bowl he was wide open I don't know if it was like a win thing but he played a level in the playoffs that was different than most of the year can I yeah let me let me let me broach a topic here because I've been thinking about it a lot this week um AJ Brown I feel like that's the one of the big names here that are obviously different between now and the Super Bowl is AJ Brown cooked or is he still good at football like I feel like there's a real question here after what we saw over the last year in Philly I know there were some like what's the word like locker room issues probably at play in Philly with this so I'm aware of that like there were clearly some like emotional controversial elements at play here is he gonna show up in New England and just be like the AJ Brown evolved a stud like I don't I don't know what to anticipate it's a it's a real question in my brain and I'm
28:08curious where you guys land on this Jeff what do you want to oh yeah go ahead Nathan I was gonna say he's still had a thousand years last year right like his no good terrible very bad year was still pretty dang good uh but yeah like I think the question is about like is he going to be the AJ Brown of old or is he gonna be a hothead who is pretty good I mean did it they ship a first for him or am I remembering yeah like it when I saw the comp I was like okay there because isn't he like 29 years old like he's on the older side I believe um he's been in the league for a hot second yeah I think he's 29 and when I saw I'm just rewinding my brain to the offseason and it's went when they shipped a first rounder I was like oh I mean everybody's assuming he's still like oh G AJ Brown maybe I'm still alone in this take am I pessimistic here guys like I think AJ Brown's still really good I mean I think he's also he's just big and strong and fast
29:15and unlike TK Metcalf he's good at contested catches so what worries me about big strong fast guys is when they get old slow and get injured and then if they're not contested catch people and you're not getting separation uh you're in trouble but he can body guys so I I think as long AJ Brown's got a chronic knee problem I think that's part of why I think the the Eagles not just the off field stuff but or the chemistry stuff but I think that's part of why they're willing to move on from him he's one of my biggest uh-ohs in this game right like people can say all that they want about Requel and he was 64 and he ran like a deer and there aren't a lot of those guys around and you've got nobody over what six feet in the cornerback room that's gonna play and Devin Witherspoon is your best corner and he's like 510 so like what is your plan for stopping AJ Brown
30:17it's probably Josh Job or Nea my a pritchet you know that's good I don't feel great about I don't feel great about that that makes me a little more nervous about this game I would spam the hell out of AJ Brown if I was a Patriots yeah well there's one way to not let AJ Brown get the ball and it's just just blow them up the line of scrimmage again and I still think that's very much in play because if they have time I think there's a lot of edges to New England to fake it and that's why I think I think I've been said earlier like Will Campbell those guys up front versus what's supposed to be the strength of the sea ox the defensive line I think that's how you neutralize AJ Brown you get after him like there's that picture on the sports illustrate cover where there's like seven guys and great maze face is that gonna go away like if these guys take over the game I don't think it's gonna matter that much if they can protect and that that matchup switches yeah AJ Brown is a scary freaking matchup for them I'll say this yeah go ahead. Trayvon Henderson being out too or most likely out is it I know that I know I do feel it's important like he's explosive like he's
31:20fast as hell like he's not he's not an all-round back like I know he struggles really bad in past protection but I'm glad he's not playing or most likely not playing I should say yeah I mean more explosive guys that aren't playing the better in my mind so like I agree but I was gonna flip it around because I do legitimately think this is a risk for the sea hawks and a matchup problem but if they do well against AJ Brown and Drake May without Nicki Minori without Tio Kata without like if they're putting out like Rodney Thomas and you know whoever else like me my a Pritchett like whatever else that would be really good sign man especially I think the number one thing is if Pritchett or Job show that they can they don't have to shut him down but if they can keep him from being like a hundred and forty yard receiving player in this game I would breathe a lot easier going into the rest of the season I'm not sure I'm feel like there's a real chance of that but if
32:23it did happen I would be pretty excited I'm just you know what I've been thinking about is like when we think about Okata when we think about that who's that white lineback here that we gave like a small deal to Drake Thomas I was forget his name he's so he's so funny to me if you him and Okata is like the same person in my brain for some reason it's like because of the way you started your description of him in the summer I love you you're a little transparent dude but it's it's just funny to me because like rewind like a year or two those were names that like nobody thought anything of and most sea hawks fans maybe I should say most an casual media and sea hawks fan probably didn't know their name super well yeah like McDonald turns those types of guys into somehow just like ball-hot contributing type players that outperform their talent and skill level somehow like I'm convinced if he if he had an off
33:23season with you or I like we'd be starting corners in college football like I don't know how he does it I don't know how he does it but and I'm just convinced that maybe he can do that with near my Pritchett and company I don't I don't think we've seen him do that with corners yet though I mean there's Joe I guess Joe was your success story there but like I don't think we'll in or I mean Pritchett looked like Pritchett lost to you for the most part whether Spoon hasn't necessarily taken any kind of big step not that he has a big step left to date but I think for linebackers and safeties it's maybe more true than I think we've seen for corners sure but that's a fair observation I'm thinking through I mean who would be the corners that they've even tried this with I mean they they drafted DJ James he didn't even make it to the 53 me my Pritchett did and and I think he's showing signs of improving but I would definitely not put him in like the oh he's been cured category yet but Joe is the biggest one and I think that's I think that's a pretty good feather in the cap and undrafted free agent that went through
34:26a couple teams and you turned into a super bowl starter so but yeah that was interesting what's the status on Julian Neal well he's practicing full okay he's a rookie that didn't play a snap in training camp pretty much and there I I would be shocked if they're like let's let him loose in game one you know that seems super unlikely he's just a name like I know he hasn't been active for most of training camp but he's a name that I was curious about exiting the draft and I just haven't we haven't heard a ton like I know I it was you or somebody else as John Schneider the other day about Julian Neal and it just felt short in response and I don't know like it was Bob condota and John kind of like I think he made either either misunderstood the question or was just clowning on Bob as he likes to do and he was like yeah we're not in the habit of cutting third-round picks Bob yeah Bob was like I that's not what I meant and it was kind of
35:31staggering it'd be like Bob's Bob's a very lovable dude and and so yeah Bob was just asking to say something about his third-round pick not necessarily that but is this not the type of game where you would and by being over ambitious with a third-round pick then like knowing that their depth is kind of cooked right now like is this not the type of game where you would hope to have him make some type of contribution I don't think so no no way he didn't play a snap in training camp he got a you got to bring the sky along a lot I think he needs and he was a developmental corner to begin with if it was your first round pick a guy you know can hold up I think that's like a recipe for disaster the guy I'm wondering about it it's probably too early is there any way like trivon digs gets called up for this week and maybe it's too early in his legs he's playing against a jbran for years and Dallas I don't know where he is physically but like I hate that like I'm kind of where I've been was where I'm kind of convinced Mike can turn him into something
36:31which is probably such a bad take it's it's probably disastrous way to look at things but I've kind of been the back of my head excited about him and I kind of like him over Pritchard and maybe I'm rich because I've seen just trauma with Pritchard over the years is there any way he plays this week I think that's a really great great question um I the reason I think it's a great question is because one I think yes there's a chance he comes up he's on the practice squad for people that don't know but they get to practice quad calls collabs and there is some question about whether the sea hawks because of the safety issue whether they're going to add someone to the 53 and then still have to practice quad collabs let's save for a second they pull up Rodney Thomas or Anthony Bell or whoever else on the 53 then who are your two practice squad quad cobs like one of them is the other another safety for sure and then the
37:36second maybe it's Trayvon digs like adding dirty sounded like he was ready to start having him out there it seemed like maybe next week was more likely I don't know I would be excited if that happened you know I just have somebody that's a veteran that you could turn to if you have to are we they think you're always like our our ballast in these situations because Trayvon digs has been really bad the last few years he's also been really injured would you feel more hope about Trayvon digs being out there than the am I a Pritchett or some of these other options I would like him as an auction as as something in the toolbox I don't think that's what you probably gain plan to go in and just start him and have him like trail a J Brown that's probably not the thing but if you're
38:37if he's if a J is eating you alive just having him out there with his experience against him and just kind of knowing him as a player even if digs isn't fully ready physically assuming there's like you know big injury risk isn't like that it's something to try like it's it's an option so yeah I I wouldn't be excited about it necessarily I wouldn't be like oh this is the the X factor but I think it would make me feel a little bit better that it's like hey if things aren't going good and and AJ Brown's a problem you got an option if if Trayvon digs played and did well and me and my Pritchett plays and does well which one of those is would be a bigger deal we get you feel make you feel more confident about the C-Ox the rest of the way Jeff I specifically want to know your thoughts on this one I'm just still not there on Pritchett I just don't know if he's like a top three corner in the NFL I feel like he's just a top oh you mean top three top three chart playing
39:41no certainly not the Patrick's or Tams I said that you should never have me on the show again but honestly I think my answer sticks I think because we've seen him play at a pro Bowl level before and he's not old like he's what 27 years old yeah he's a young guy still and he's been around these coaches and these players he's a very flawed player if you've ever watched him play he jumps routes he gets burned bad but he can make plays and the team this team just in the second year they're great but they don't have enough guys just picking off the ball having one guy who can do that you know who can do it at a high level I think it would match really well with what they have in terms of their safety and it's probably fool's goal but I think that would be my answer it's not the first time we would have had success with a Cowboys uh reclamation project yeah cast off is probably a better term to mark it's wasn't a reclamation project yeah Evan you know this because I think I texted you guys about it but like you remember when like Drake Thomas came
40:42back from injury like a year ago or two years ago and I texted like you and whoever else I was like man this guy his legs are like crazy and and you guys were giving me crap about it I I feel like I have that reaction when I saw Trayvon digs the first time like he is he's built like a very different athlete than every other corner that is on this team like he looks like a first round pick and so to your point Jeff I mean if his legs are back and he is able to play healthy it I love Interceptions man when they're when there are teammates getting them and I feel like we don't get a lot like as good as his defense is like the the leader was was uh Ernest Jones with five last year or whatever it was you know really yeah holy crap okay then I didn't really like where's the secondary member who's like Kobe Bryant was the other guy he had to get me like three
41:44like who's the ball hawk out there yeah how many did Julian love have last year he was injured most of the year yeah but I still feel like he had a few uh maybe I'm just thinking of the Super Bowl like as a recency bias Julian love had who like he had two or three maybe I'm wrong Interceptions and five Kobe Bryant had four Daryl on Kendrick had two nobody else had more than one Julian love had one wow so I mean Spoon had one recad one i o'cada had one the funny thing is I think Tio Cotta is going to be one of the guys that has more this year I think he could be like a five or six interception guy she has to be on the field to get picks but um all right let's let's check out our uh questions from patreon um chat for a second um I don't think there's a bunch in here this week so let me
42:49do we fall off no no I think you know I'm not sure well we did the prediction show last week so people knew not to you were gonna probably get to them there um okay this is from Jen and let's pull this over to the group what do we think is the first thing or most significant thing that Neil Coastal will do with the team like how Jen's decided it is just Neil Coastal who owns the team um yeah that's a good question what do you like that that's happening two days from now the press conference I'm curious as to why they called out Neil well I think I know why but I'm just there's a group of people that are pretty sure that daddy just bought son of a ball team to play with and so that's where this is coming from people think it's Neil's team to to make a break so what do you think what do you think the first thing or the most significant thing that Neil Coastal will do with the team bring back bittersweet symphony
43:51as the uh the anthem for the the sea ox and trash the neon jerseys and get something an actually decent alternative do owners have like is it owners that decide when you're gonna go back uniforms is it like do you have to pay money to have a uniform redesign is it I don't don't really know the economics of that do you guys oh that but I assume if it owner wants it they're gonna do it I didn't we sign like a deal with was it Nike or Adidas or something like and that's the I think so because we had those rivalry jerseys those awful like it's the first time in my life we got jerseys I hate cannot stand the rivalry jerseys um I think that's a good call though uh like the russians are there big companies no god damn it um white throwback jerseys can he can kneel to that white throwbacks be sweet I want the white throwback what about changing the field from turf to grass is commonly requested it feels like that can't happen during a season that
44:53would have to be an off season decision true true yeah yeah I guess she did say the first or most significant thing so that fits that fits the answer I wonder how many c-hawks if you pulled them would feel passionately about that like I really okay yeah there's a reason it got an F it was the only thing that got an F in the player report car for the FPA about the c-hawks was the field quality you know what the most significant thing you can do is hot dogs two dollars mind his business don't touch anything shut up watch watch your football games don't I'm nervous this is I am nervous about these guys they're so say more what are you nervous about they're busy they're active they're talking how how many times did Paul and Tweet like I don't like it I just it might
45:54be fine but Niels young Paul Allen was like an oldie I don't I don't care go home turn on the TV on Sunday watch your football team throw a bunch of money at it and don't don't then you ever think about you again please I don't need to I just don't need it and it makes me nervous it's real and it could it's meddling and it can metal some owners are the worst thing in sports how how most significant thing he can do is nothing that would be the most amazing thing he could do help how old is Neil how do we want to guess actually yeah I just saw the end of it was like mid 30s okay so what's the answer early 30s maybe late 20s even like early 30s 33 I'd say 34 just saying 34 Nathan what are you saying uh 23 no stop it I don't know I don't know third yes on the right one dollar one dollar no
46:54I don't know 36 36 Brian 33 correct answer Brian 33 years old man that makes me feel really unaccomplished in my life that's incredible come on man well why were my parents not billionaires yeah I was gonna say I don't know if that's you who isn't accomplished I'm a failure I'm not as worried about them I'm a little worried for them like I don't know like Vinod actually seems like kind of a fun dude to be honest I like the fact that he's got a little spined him I wouldn't mind like I I understand all the things you're saying Nathan and I actually agree almost wholeheartedly with that but there's another side of this where if Vinod started talking shit to Rams fans like if like he became like a troll like like he talks shit to other friends like that could be kind of fun man I love that I love that like he gets his step away from posting an apology on your scoreboard
47:59like J. York did and that's several steps away from a hundred and forty dollars so I'm just like any bit of it well he was part of that ownership so yeah yeah I don't know maybe he can get like his AI companies to just like insidiously harass 49ers fans and and Rams fans online wherever they go like you can have like there's all the like the the ad targeting that like will follow you you find an ad anywhere on social media like let's just like have him just to mess with people just have it follow him follow them wherever they go so so this is where I have a take I'm going to be very curious to see if Neil relocates to Seattle to be close to the V-Mac I'm curious how much time he's going to spend onsite around the team doing Neil thinks in his vice chair role or whenever his official title is I think it's I think it's plausible I so that will be very interesting if
49:03if that happens I know he he's he runs like his own health carry AI here I yeah so like he does he does have like a day job right he's busy but what if he doesn't what if they what if he steps away that's where I get very interested is what I will say so you would be more concerned if he does not you you would be more encouraged if he moved here and was like in the V-Mac every day no the opposite okay okay we're same patient I I feel a little differently on that I know exactly why you guys feel that way but this is a family that does not live in the northwest that is not coming with clear connection to the northwest the community the team and there are there I know you guys don't fit in this category but I know because I interact with them there's a large portion of the fan base that is worried that this ownership group is not really committed to this team in this region moving here would be a very big sign that like yeah they're committed and you know there's ways to
50:09be part of the community that aren't just the football team and so Nero I think that was a quiet part of the announcements as well she's going to be running the the charitable foundation for the C-Hawks I don't know I I like the Paul Allen built like rebuilt safe center Rama a couple of times and I'm not really a big experience music project thing but like there's ways they could help the city that would also I think be cool so I don't think it has to all be about football and I personally would like to feel like they are connected the community a little bit more than they are so I think there's new wants to this right because it's like if if they're relocating to Seattle to just be like a supportive presence sign checks do press stuff and cheer on the Seattle C-Hawks that's all cool and great it I think we're the fear and concern potentially could be as if they show up and they start trying to tinker with day-to-day operations that would scare people and I think rightfully so be totally honest I want each one of you to answer this if you were in his position
51:14if you were in his position I want genuine authentic answers would you leave it alone and just have a call once a week and not touch it Nathan Jenner I would I would my name would be on John Schneider's office right next to John Schneider and Nathan Ernst and I'll be sitting in there and I'd be like you're you're teaching me this and I'm involved I pay the bills I'd be the worst I'd be terrible terrible yeah no I'd metal like crazy and want to run it like a madden franchise Evan go ahead hell no John Schneider would be my new Uber driver like that man he'd be getting a promotion to Uber driver for Evan roll like no I'd be I'd be crazy involved I'd be I'd be I'd be I would be this fan base this worst nightmare without question you already are for some I mean we love you but not everybody Jeff how about you oh I'd be meddling like crazy um I've always just
52:19wanted to know like how the draft works inside the room and how for agency worked and I would want to be like sitting in there I would be all not just sit there not give ideas or tell John what he's doing wrong and I would probably be so annoying to those guys but I would want to be around because I'm just we're all pretty big football fans I have no idea what it's actually like day to day in terms of like what the personnel guys are doing and I won't care as much about like what the coaches are doing day to day but I'd be so curious to like the GM side of things to the point where like they would for sure be talking shit behind my back all the time and I would be yeah I'd want to sit around those guys popping for an hour and then leave while they're working like 18 hour days and come and get my opinions and get out of there so it's probably be annoying as hell to them I feel like yeah I feel like I mean I love gossip like I love tea and I feel like the access to unprecedented unprecedented levels of like gossip you would get around the league that'd be like the true value for me oh yeah I don't think people understand how much of like
53:21a information trade there is that is going on around the NFL across the media across teams about agents about players about coaches about like like there's like a dossier on everybody and and like the Roussini's rabel thing by the way I am fully expecting some people to come to this game dressed up as Roussini like like I will be shocked if nobody trolls in that way in this game but my point then asking that question is if you love football like we all love football and you have a like it was your team that how could you not get involved and so as much as I've said the exact same words you guys have I think it's totally unrealistic I think it's I don't think it's even fair to expect it because this is a guy that was an intern for the 49ers like as studied football for a long time analytics
54:22loves all that stuff you really don't think he's going to have questions want to understand the game plan understand like the data model stuff going on for this that and the other like ask questions about like who what trade what positions are the highest priority like what how much more money do you need to do this that like I just can't imagine that they are really going to sit idly by that feels unrealistic Neil come on real hog talk let's have a conversation and exclusive chat what would you tell him what would you tell I'd love to pick his brain actually I'd love to learn from him seriously like I'd like to I'd love to learn more about him as a person like they have it I haven't seen a ton about Neil personally I've seen a ton about his parents but I'd like to get a Neil's brain a little bit by the way yeah go ahead go ahead they would typically happen is when new owners come in and when owners are new is they get very cozy with the GM and a lot of coaches and GM set to have beef because the GM sit with the owners in the box during the game
55:24and they're talking about their opinions and that becomes their opinions and that's why GM's tend to last longer like that guy in the giants is still hanging around when he's been a disaster so I think Neil and John Schneider are going to be spending a lot of time together and I'm very curious and that's where I'm going back to Evan I think that's going to be a very interesting relationship I hope Neil likes beers because uh what he's gonna learn the craft beer scene real fast if he hasn't already I hope he likes walking on treadmills you know like they can just take walks together right next to each other well so we've got to make our picks we're gonna get to that in a second closing on this bit there is going to be a coastal oppressed conference the day of the game Wednesday morning at 11 so I'll be down there be really curious how that goes really curious what questions people ask and what they answer um I will not be asking about the Steelers but uh I am curious how how that goes but before we get to our predictions you guys had asked about
56:27Trayvon digs versus AJ Brown and thanks to our friends over at Sumer Sports look what I was able to pull up during the show this is all the snaps of Trayvon digs matched up with AJ Brown from 2022 to 2025 uh not that bad to be honest no touchdowns allowed no breakups no picks six catches for 106 yards um seven targets yeah so uh nothing too crazy um you know not a lot not a huge sample either but there's not like this game where AJ Brown just went went off on him um so I I think that's pretty cool that you can get that that quickly I love data I'm sorry I can't help myself um all right so I think we're at the point we should be talking about picks predictions for
57:28this this game feels weird I haven't even I haven't even I keep talking about writing my tail and I haven't done it yet I've got all the data but I have not written it yet I want to know you guys already picked last week but now we're gonna pick scores as well so Evan you start what is the score of this game gonna be and who wins yeah um good god I I knew you're gonna ask this question today and I've been thinking about it and preparing for it I I wonder if this is not going to be a very high scoring game and I wonder if Seattle's offense comes out a little flat I do worry new OC in the building unproven I I think this is going to be a lower scoring game
58:29I don't think it's gonna be um a wipe out like the Super Bowl was at all I think it's gonna be a lot closer I do think Seattle's going to win so I'm gonna stick with the C-ox winning the game but I'm gonna go something like I don't know if the C-ox score a ton of points in this one to be quite honest with you guys um I'm gonna go C-ox 20 Patriots 10 okay Jeff I think the thing that we're not talking about enough is frankly that I know I know there are some matchup concerns but I think that environment is gonna be crazy on what's in and we saw what happened the Super Bowl now you know Drake may have never played in Seattle before and this is a defense that's gonna benefit from the crowd and I think that along with the line of skirmish I think Seattle does win this game end up being pretty comfortably I'm gonna say I kind of initially my brain kind of went where Evan went in terms of like the offense and could be ugly we want
59:31tends to be ugly for the offense in general so I'm gonna say it's 24 13 and the game's not that close Nathan I I think Seattle's offense is gonna play well um I I'm kind of going in a different direction I think on that so I'm gonna say 34 19 Seattle I don't think this is a close game uh and I think the offense really just kind of cruises and carries them interesting well I did pick them to lose last week and I did say I'm not going to change my official prediction but I did reserve the right to change my mind on who I thought was gonna win this game after I did some more digging in the conversation that honestly swayed me the most was talking this through with Jeff on Saturday and
1:00:31the running game for the Seahawks and the pass rush for the Seahawks the pass rush like the running game in particular I've been so focused on the Seahawks pass the secondary problems that I think might happen in this game and the offensive play of the Patriots that I hadn't really put a lot of thought into what if the Seahawks run the ball well and then I dug into a little bit more the Patriots some of the challenges against defending the run and this offensive line that I think is probably one of the least talked about parts of the Super Bowl team that was also all five starters are back and it was the third youngest offensive line and they kind of got going at the end of last year so if they come out here and they run for 150 plus yards I don't think this is gonna be a really tough game for the Seahawks like that one thing would be a really big change for me so I actually feel a little bit the opposite of Evan I think this could end up being a high-scoring game and I think I'm gonna go 28 28 24 Seahawks to win this one so yeah I think I'll be a little
1:01:40uncomfortable but I do think Seahawks are just a way better team like you look at the roster they're just they're a way better team even with the injury stuff so that's where I that's where I feel like things end up so we've got a couple super chats let me pull these up real quick let's you guys go smoke hockey remember 23 months says Myers better get it right Evan could be ugly otherwise yes Seahawks fan 1993 says Evan drafting Christian McHathrey in fantasy equals the Niners downfall do you care to comment on your you know yeah I do we're uh we're a 12 team league we're redraft and I was 11 and he dropped to 11 I had to pick a metal 11 I had to I was a moron answer Tyler Moron has been remembered from 19 months says what was your favorite week one game
1:02:41in Seahawks history that is a tough question do you guys have any answer that comes to mind I'll go with the easy one which is the 2014 game against the Packers after they won the Super Bowl Ariana Grande opened with the National Anthem and then they just blew the doors off of the Packers that was fun I'm gonna go with the Gino over Russell game oh that was such a good game that was such a good game that was a team we all thought would just be so shit and for them to win that game against Russell you know that team didn't amount to much that was as fun as a week one as you can ever have was that the game we were together for no no that was that was the bone x right the year after the last fun game yeah yeah bone x is 0.8 different Broncos game uh Peter Gohox last one here says could they drop Tyree's night back to safety no they are not gonna drop Tyree's night back to safety he is doing very well at linebacker and and I think
1:03:45he's gonna get a lot of snaps in this one all right uh that'll do it for this real hawk tanks to Evan Hill at Evan Hill HB Jeff Simmons at Real Jeff Simmons and Nathan Ernst at Nathan E 11 be back to you tomorrow morning Matt Hasselbach Tuesdays with Matt is back so be back to you then Kwondray digs and I just talked we are gonna do post game so we're gonna do Thursday with Kwondray so we'll have Matt before love Kwondray after and we'll have probably a post game show with some of this crew after the game Wednesday anybody's a wait I'm sure I will be but we'll figure out who last have a great night everybody take care
