This is ready. Set bets with Matt Brown and Mike Sommage on Fysand C sports betting network. Ready to bet here on these sports betting network, Matt Brown in with Joe Seralo next two hours, one hour down. Boy, where did the time go? Flying through here. It's flying. It is major league baseball is back. We have a lot of stuff to talk about. By the way, we talked about Dylan Cease's performance yesterday. There were some other performances that were at least of note. I would say Joe, as we just kind of tuck it away. Let's follow and see what happens with all of this. We did get a Taj Bradley nine strikeout start out of him. That being said, he only lasted four and a third innings because he did have three walks to go along with that. But again, a guy that we know, the talent is there. It doesn't always show up. But in four and a third, we get nine Ks out of Taj Bradley. So at least someone to kind of monitor and see where he is at over the next few starts.
Yeah, absolutely. It's funny. The final lines from the starters in that game, Bradley and Bradish. If you had flipped them, that would have been more, but I expected. Bradish didn't really wow me. I believe you only had three strikeouts. His number was coming in around five and a half and it was juice to the over. Brad Lee's thing has always been he's a strikeout pitcher. It's always been the case with him. However, usually he'd never last long because he gets hit around and shelled early. He usually is pretty prone to one good implosion around the third or fourth inning sometime in that second time through the lineup. Didn't happen yesterday. He looked great. You mentioned didn't qualify for the win, but a surprising win for Minnesota. That was my only loss. Two out of three on the diamond yesterday and the Orioles to not bat in the bottom of the ninth was the one loss. A team that is in full rebuild and they'll let you know they're in full rebuild that said they have started the season undefeated here in this Cardinals team in Michael McGreeby through six no hit innings yesterday for this team. Not a lot of swinging miss stuff from him yesterday, Joe,
but again, just things that we're trying to kind of like tuck away. See if some of these guys found some stuff in the off season. See if they found some stuff in spring training, Joe Boyle, another guy went six innings in a guy to kind of like, okay, let's keep an eye on what's going on with him with all of this main takeaway from him. And he's always been a super high walk guy. He gets to the six innings without a without a single walk yesterday. Does Joe Boyle? So early on, some of these dudes that are like fringe guys, I'm more not necessarily running to back them. I'm saying, hey, they had an interesting start. Let's tuck it away. Let's monitor the next start, maybe even the next two starts. And maybe they become someone that we can get ahead of because so many people are going to rely on old statistics, old things, old perceptions of these guys and all of that. And like sometimes with pitchers and specifically, they can find a new pitch, they can hone in a new pitch, they get a little bit better with their control, whatever it might be. And they can actually make a pretty decent jump from season to season. Yeah, it's a good approach to have. You know, we spoke about it earlier with the Red Sox game, right?
Two young starting pitchers, five and six starts in their careers respectively. Maybe there's value on the board for me. That's a game that I just want to watch, enjoy, monitor these guys. And that's a great approach with what you have going on for the St. Louis Tampa series. I mean, look, Cardinals 2 and 0 on the season. St. Louis has produced some offense thus far. Do I think that they're going to be one of the higher scoring teams in baseball this year? Absolutely not. They're win total 69 and a half. Tampa's right around 76 and a half. These are two teams projected for last place. So, you know, I'm looking at St. Louis and Tampa right now. And I'm going, okay, are the Cardinals sneaky good? Are they overperforming? Or is Tampa already a projected last place team maybe even a little worse than we thought? So, not trying to jump into any major conclusions here. McGreevy did look good. Boyle also looked pretty good. But these are two teams that I'll probably be in fade or pass mode here for most of the season. The injury note yesterday we did mention the DeGrom scratch.
Maybe we see him Tuesday, Wednesday, something like that. It was a neck. It wasn't an arm. So, nothing to panic about quite yet. Andrew Vaughn did break his hand. Pretty solid little contributor last year was Andrew Vaughn. Again, another guy that came up to that White Sox organization, super hyped prospect that never really lived up to anything. He gets shipped out of town and actually has a couple of good seasons. He broke his hand probably four to six weeks for him. So, no Andrew Vaughn for that brewers team. Yeah, you know, Milwaukee is such a next man up squad. Like last year Vaughn was simply the next man up. You know, I mean, he wasn't projected. Well, he wasn't even on the team opening day. But I don't think when they made that trade, he was projected to be as much of a contributor as he was. Wasn't that the trade that Aaron Savali, they were going to move them to the bullpen. And he said, I'm not a reliever if you're going to do that trade me. And then they said, okay, go from first place to the basement of the A.L. Central. We're sending you to the south side of Chicago. And they get Vaughn and returned. And, you know, he was a little MIA in the playoffs, but he had a good run there. A lot of power, especially against lefties.
So, you know, unfortunate situation. Better it happens in March than in August. Yes, no, absolutely. There without one, I guess one last little note that I got yesterday was if we look at Carlos Estevez and he got rocked like six earned for him yesterday. And this is something for just kind of the monitor. But I was like, what happened? Like, you know, you kind of go in and you look. He was sitting like 91 yesterday, Joe, where he was averaging about 96 last year. Maybe nothing to panic about. Maybe it's just something that happened early on in the season. Maybe he was just tired or whatever it is. But one of those things to definitely monitor because it's different if it's like a tick down, maybe even two ticks down. When you start talking like five miles an hour, that's something we need to monitor for sure. Yeah, it wasn't that the case with Aaron Nola last year right out of the gate for Philadelphia.
Like spring training. It was like, whoa, this guy was pumping 95 a year ago. Now he's pumping 90. And I'm gonna try to really quickly pull up his numbers from last year, but it did make a difference. Aaron Nola last year, he only made 17 starts. He was five and 10 with an ERA over six. So, you know, Estevez obviously coming in in a different role relievers 10 to throw harder because you're just typically given it for an inning, not trying to stretch it out to six or so. But there, I think is a correlation and a cause for concern between that drastic of a dip in Velo and performance because Aaron Nola last year was the prime example. He went from 14 and eight with a three five in 2024 to five and 10 with a six in 2025. And the Velo dipped about five miles per hour. We mentioned that there are some games that are going to be first pitching here. In about 30 minutes, the Rangers and the Phillies, Mackenzie Gore, versus Jesus Luzardo. Of course, Gore now over with this Rangers team, another guy that maybe the change of scenery could do him some good as well. Certainly get more run support there in Texas and Luzardo. Guy that's always been at the very, very top of stuff, just the stuff sometimes gets in the way of the strike zone. And he can't really hit that too often. So we'll see what we can get here. It's all the way out to minus 163, though, in favor of the Phillies, plus 135 with the Rangers. A flat eight is our total there in that one. Yeah, I think it's safe to say to quote forest gum.
Both of these guys are a little bit like a box of chocolates, right? I mean, Luzardo last year, he got off to a better start than anyone after his May 25th start against the athletics. He was 5 and 0 with a 2 1 5. Next start against Milwaukee, 12 earned. Next start against Toronto, 8 earned. So it's like, what Luzardo are you going to get? And similarly last season, you know, with Gore, this is a guy Matt who's already 27 years old, he turned in a month ago. And we keep waiting for him to have his breakout season. It looked like last year was going to be it when he was an all star at the break. Pay no attention to the record. He was 4 and 8, but the ERA was 3 flat. And he had some of the best strikeout numbers in Major League Baseball. Well, he went from 4 and 8 with a 3 to 5 and 15 with a 4, 2. By the time the year ended. So his second half he imploded. He's got the strikeout stuff. Last year, if you remember, he got the opening day nod for Washington, six scoreless innings of one hit ball against Philly, 13 of those 18 outs
recorded with a strikeout. So, I mean, look, both of these guys, their numbers, I believe Gore is 5 and a half. Luzardo is 6 and a half. I looked at both of these. Last year, Gore was 80th percentile in K-rate and with rate. Luzardo, 87th percentile in both of those numbers on the season as a whole last year. But I'm going to try to be patient. I could easily fire and over on both of these guys and they could go four or five innings, walk a bunch, give up a few hits and just not get their due to longevity issues. I'm going to watch this game and like we've been discussing with St. Louis Tampa, with Boston Cincinnati. I'm going to watch this game and file it away and see the vibe and the read I get off of these two lefties. But they both have great strikeout stuff and kind of low totals in that market. The twins and the Orioles Bailey Ober versus Shane Boz who gets rewarded, I think yesterday with a five year extension or something like that there with the Orioles. They are minus, they are also minus 163 and a plus 135 line here in this one.
Though the total is at nine as opposed to eight with that one, this Orioles team trying to lock up some of those arms, trying to get a rotation that they know they'll have for the next few seasons as they try to build around all this young talent in the lineup. Yeah, so this is my third and final MLB play today. We gave out the McLean six plus strikeouts, met the money line, same game, Parley, added the Cubs Nationals over nine and a half there and Bazz at six or more strikeouts. This I saw minus 125 on draft Kings. I got it at even money on Colchee. So when I saw the disparity in price there, 25 cents by going the prediction market route, I had to play it because I was already on the fence that minus 125, you know, six strikeouts for a guy who pumps 98 and who last year was 67th percentile, not elite, but still way above average in K-rate. It was something I had to do. We talked about the twins yesterday. They're a pretty high swing and miss team that didn't translate with Bradish on the bump. Also with Bazz though, the difference between him and Bradish, like you said, he just anchored that five years,
68 million dollar deal the day before opening day. If that doesn't juice you up, I don't know what will first start new uniform, new threads, new contract, got to give me six strikeouts. An awesome spring training for him as well. We are talking at K-rate at 34%, a sub one whiff, so a guy that was just absolutely dishing there in spring training as well. So let's hopefully, let's just get that one home for you as well. All the baseball talk here today. That's pure automotive joy. I'm Peter, the owner of Muscle Car Junior. Welcome back to Ready, Set, Bet with Matt Brown and Mike Sommage. On V-Syn, please force Betty Network. Put it that back here on V-Syn Matt Joe, as we looked in a cease trying to get to the final four for the first time in program history. We have lost the hook at circa behind me. We have lost the hook at Caesars as well. So the flat eight now at circa in Caesars, you can still get eight and a half at Draft King's Fandall MGM. If you're in a fanatics market, if you're in a score market, don't call it ESPN.
You can get that out there at eight and a half. But we did get the the hooks gobbled up behind me here at circa and at Caesars Joe. So some Tennessee love coming in here as we still have about an hour until tip. Yeah, you know, I think eight's appropriate. It was probably just a matter of time. I mentioned this one, you know, for the contest that Circus running, it opened seven and a half. That was the case at most shops. Got moved a full point in favor of Michigan. I think the balance at eight is probably around correct. I did lay seven and a half with the Wolverines. And we've talked about this trend and Greg Peterson came on a half hour ago and really reaffirmed it. The favorites Michigan included in their sweet 16 tilt with Alabama have been falling behind early, but more than making up that ground as the second half progresses. You know, they were down 11 to two to Bama. Iowa was up big against Illinois right out of the gate. We saw it again with Purdue and Arizona. And then all of those favorites, all of those higher seeded teams, not just one, but covered. And frankly, if you just look at the score and not how they got there,
they covered with cushion, you know, like relatively easily. Even though Illinois was on the wrong side with two minutes to go, you'll look at that box score and nothing else. You're like, oh, wow. Yeah, the align I ended up covering with a little bit of cushion there. And same with Michigan against Alabama in the sweet 16. So ultimately, look Tennessee ferocious on the offensive glass. They're generating second chances about 45% of the time when they miss. It's not just the best number in the country this season. It's the best number we've seen in 25 years, Matt. But can Tennessee play volleyball against a Michigan front court? That's three studs, six, eight, six, nine, or taller deep. One of them in Laxonburg is also like their best score. You've got Mara who's seven, two, seven, three. I mean, I don't know if you can bully this Michigan team. And at the end of the day, if the big is somewhat cancel each other out, Tennessee just doesn't have perimeter offense. Michigan has great perimeter offense. That could be the X factor here. And those threes could add up to a double digit win for the Wolverines. Yeah, it's, I'm not going to say that they,
that Tennessee doesn't have a chance to win this game. Obviously they are talented team. They can win this game. You're going to kind of going to need like an all-timer from Gillespie and a minute at the same time. You know, you're going to need both of those guys to kind of have like the game in a list. And then certainly this could be interesting at that point. But I just think if you don't have both of them go off, I just don't know if it's going to be enough for all the reasons you just stayed it over there on the Michigan side of things. Yeah, I just think Tennessee needs a perfect storm. You know, look, I mean, they got away with some mistakes. I believe they'd sit, what, 17 turnovers. They lost the turnover battle. Against Iowa State also no Joshua Jefferson for Iowa State in that one. You know, the cyclones couldn't buy a three. They're not the best three point shooting team, but they're competent from beyond the arc and they just couldn't buy one. So Tennessee did not play a perfect game against the cyclones and they, you know, caught a couple breaks, but they bullied them. You're not going to bully Michigan physically in this one. You know, this is a Wolverines team that I was on the wrong side. I took them against Duke in DC and I thought Duke did a pretty good job
at holding those bigs at bay. Duke's better than Tennessee, right? And that was still a really tight game. I don't think the Vols are going to be able to get 45% of their misses for an offensive board for a second chance against these Wolverines bigs. So I do think Michigan will control the tempo and thus control the game. Second game will be Duke and Yukon. This is five, five and a half. If you're in a circa market, you can get five. If you're in a Caesar's market, you can get five as well, five and a half everywhere else, one 34 and a half to, well, actually there's flat one 34 at Caesars all the way out to a flat one 35 out there in the market. So do shop around if you want to play the total here in this one. Don't have to say anything about these two programs here, Joe, two very storied programs in the over the course of college basketball. I mean, I guess a lot of this is going to come down to who can stop Cam Booser down low. And the other thing is that he is elite at drawing fouls. I mean, he is one of the top guys in the country at drawing fouls.
I am sure that he will continue that here in this one just so long. If you're Yukon, you just can't get your dudes in foul trouble, right? You can, you can try to limit Booser. You can try to send him to the line, not give him the easy stuff down low, but you just got to make sure that you don't have one of your stars end up. And next thing you know, there's eight minutes left in the first half and somebody's got three fouls. Yeah, I mean, I think for Yukon, you know, we talked, I talked about it with Michigan and Tennessee, right? If Michigan controls the tempo, controls the pace, they'll control the game. Yukon's really good at dictating tempo and controlling the pace. You know, I mean, the only game in recent memory, I can think of where they didn't do that was the biggest championship against St. John's. They did it in their most recent prior to that game, tilt with the Johnny's in Connecticut. They controlled they dominated, they beat him by 32, right? I'm not saying they're going to beat Duke by 32 if I control the pace here. And we saw some flaws against Spardy where they let Michigan state get back into the game despite like a 20 point lead right off the bat. But what did Michigan state not do? Shoot well from three and they had been phenomenal all season long from beyond
the arc. Yukon's defense is suffocating. Their perimeter defense is extraordinary. And they're also shooting the ball better from three in the post season. Then they did in the regular season around 50th percentile. It's average in the post season. But Duke is only about a 60th percentile team from beyond the arc. Yukon and the regular season could have buy a three. They were doing all their damage inside the paint. And they're still doing that 91st percentile in two point field goal percentage in the post season. So their paint scoring, their two point scoring hasn't suffered from this emergence in three point scoring. Offense is better than I think it's been most of the year. Defense is just as good. I think they'll keep this one close. I didn't have an official play on this one in the contest. But as we get closer to game time, especially if I can get a five and a half I think I'm going to take the points with the Huskies. Yeah, I mean, this it's small sample size stuff for sure. But we know college college teams can be streaky. And since the ACC tournament, Duke's only shooting 30% from three Joe. So it's like they are relying on those paint points from boozer.
They are relying on getting to the line and getting those home because they're not hitting it from deep. And so if you're Yukon and you kind of continue to hold them to 30% or maybe even better sub 30% from three and have them have to make twos as we know, which is less efficient than making threes. I think so too. I think this could be a closer maybe than some people expect. Yeah, and look, boozer's phenomenal. Don't get me wrong, right? Like I feel like yesterday, you know, I might have sounded like I was down on him just because I don't think he should be the first pick in the NBA. When it comes to his NBA career, different discussion. I'm curious how it's going to pan out. I think he has a really high floor, but that the ceiling might not be as high as some people are making it out to be because you won't bully NBA bigs the way he is in college. He's not going to bully Tara's read junior, the Husky 611 center who put up and albeit it was against Ferman 31 points and 27 rebounds in that game against Ferman. Like read is a beast. This guy was starting at Michigan before transferring to Yukon.
Took a gut humbled took a roll off the bench last year, 20 minutes per game. Now starting every game this year as a senior and he's just a stud in the paint. I know that his immediate primary matchup is likely going to be Gangba, but when he has to help with boozer or when he has to guard boozer, boozer's not getting too close to that rim against read. I think Yukon might have the remedy here against you. Yeah, there's a 135 at circuit out here behind me. I kind of a little bit lean towards the under like said, the defense here, the fact that Duke's not hitting the three, all those things like that kind of leads me to think that this could be kind of a rock fight. But again, not in the account yet, but at least wanted to explain my thoughts there with that one guy's founded in 2011 sharp plays, just another good season there in 2025 for them. This evening, we had a fairly short little slate yesterday. Clippers and the bucks are going to kick things off here. That's going to be a tip in about two and a half hours. And we said the bucks aren't trying to win games. So it is a 15 and a half to 16 and a half points bread. Do with that what you will. I hate playing these games. I have no idea what's going to happen in them. I just like, I just know interesting. Jay, I love the NBA. I like betting the NBA, but man, once you get these type of games, I mean, it's like does Milwaukee have even, even though they're tanking, have the talent to keep it within 17 points. Sure. How much motivation is there for the Clippers to actually win by 17 point like all of this. Like they just, they just need to win the game and move on. So I don't know. These games just aren't for me. Yeah. Look, you said you love the NBA. I have no problem saying I don't love the NBA. I love the nicks. I love that nicks thunder matchup that, you know, could potentially be a championship preview here. I think the nicks are getting too many points in that one. And I said it yesterday and I'm not going to contradict myself here.
You know, the NBA is meant to be bet live, not pre-flop, but it looks like both teams are pretty healthy. And that's always the issue with betting at pre-flop. Doos McBride could be, he's the one guy who's questionable, but the nicks haven't had him in two months. So he's questionable to make his return for the first time in two months. Eight and a half feels like a lot of points for two teams that could really grind it out that played a really close thriller of a game at Madison Square Garden not long ago. I might be leaning next plus the points there. And people who are looking at the slate today and you can look down and you go, wait a minute, why? How is Houston only five and a half over New Orleans? New Orleans is terrible. Yes, but they don't have their pick. So like they don't have incentive to like, to mail it in because they don't have their pick anyway. They can lose wind, whatever doesn't really matter. So New Orleans doesn't have their own pick, which is why despite the fact that they're terrible, you still see only a five and a half points for it. Adam Burke on the other side. Welcome back to ReadySetbet with Matt Brown and Mike Sommage on V-Syn, please force
Betting Network. First up in here on V-Syn, sports betting, network, Matt Brown, Joe Sorallo in for Sommage as he goes off and does whatever he does. I think he's visiting the horses. I think he's talking to the horses and he's trying to get some face-to-face time with him before the Kentucky Derby. So I think he'll be back next week with us in here. But joining us now, I don't want to waste any time bringing in Adam Burke so we can get all of his thoughts on everything that is going on out there in the sports world. Adam, what's happening today over on V-Syn.com? I'll tell you what, man, it's still a busy time here. You know, I know the college basketball is winding down here. We've only got a couple of games today and then a couple of games next weekend. So that is winding down a little bit, but hey, cover Major League Baseball extensively over there at the website, multiple articles per day with best bets, prop bets, all kinds of stuff. Not to mention, are up to AI MLB player props that dropped on Wednesday with opening day, the first three opening days. Those are available now over at V-Syn.com and because they're new, everyone can access
them. They will eventually be a subscriber-only product, but for right now, you can head to V-Syn.com and check out those Opta AI MLB player props and see what one of our most important and most prized betting tools can do for you over there at the website. Yeah, Adam, you're doing a phenomenal job with that site and the Opta Edition, man, you know, I was already leaning towards Nolan McLean, but this morning when I got up right and early, just to, you know, I wanted that confirmation bias there. I wanted someone else to tell me, hey, Joe, definitely bet, Nolan McLean, K-Prop. And Opta did exactly that. I think it was the most confident play from Opta in terms of the strikeout market today. So it's great stuff going there. We'll get back to baseball. Let's touch on some March Madness first, waiting around out half of the final four here. First game, tipping off pretty shortly, actually, in just about an hour or so. Michigan, Tennessee, we've seen the movement from seven and a half to eight and a half, settling at a flat eight at some spots. What's your read on this game? Yeah, I mean, you know, I think that seeing the pinball back and forth a little bit in
this game does make some sense. I certainly agree with Michigan, you know, going up a little bit off the opener. And then I understand why people were taking Tennessee, you know, I mean, Tennessee is a team that Rick Barnes has gotten over the hump now. You know, this is a guy who squandered a lot of really, really good Texas long horns teams, but turns out he's been a pretty good coach in the NCAA tournament here over the last few years with Tennessee. So, you know, Tennessee is a team that, you know, number one in the country and offensive rebounding percentage, they don't shoot overly well. And I think that's going to be their biggest concern here in this game is that Michigan defends both the interior and the perimeter extremely well in a Tennessee team that ranks in the 140s and 2 point percentage, 160s and 3 point percentage. I don't know if they're going to be able to make enough shots because Michigan's just so efficient offensively. They're efficient on both ends of the floor, but what they've done offensively in this tournament has been really, really impressive. And Michigan also is going to have more shot volume from three. And so I think it's going to be very difficult for Tennessee to keep pace in this game. I would lean towards Michigan minus the eight, but again, we'll see if Tennessee is able
to slow this game down. We got a big time difference in tempo between these two teams. If Tennessee can have success slowing the game down early on, that's going to help them hang around. If they're going to play at Michigan's tempo, then I think a live bet on the Wolverines is a good idea. Our second game, Duke and Yukon, it is a flat five out here behind me at him. You can also see the flat five at Caesars, five and a half everywhere else. You can find all the way from 134 to 135 from a total perspective. We've seen Duke start a little slower, a couple of different times here. We know the stories, programs, we know the multiple national championships, all of that. When it's all said and done is five too many. I think five is probably a little bit too many in this game. I would take Yukon plus the points. For Duke, I'm really interested to see how Foster comes back off of playing a couple of days ago. This is a very, very quick turnaround for him, a guy who I think they're kind of surprised to get back as quickly as he did.
He had such an impact in that game against St. John's. Now it's a quick turn. I'm really curious to see how he comes out in this game. Cameron Boosers played a ton of minutes for this team throughout the course of the season. Had to do a lot in crunch time in that game against St. John's. I wonder if there's maybe a little bit of a hangover for him in terms of all the effort he's had to put out here all season long and then also in this tournament. You'll freeze the evidence. He hit most of his clean looks in that game against the Johnny's. I don't know if that'll be the case here in this game today with that quick turnaround that I mentioned. I like Yukon plus the points. I do think Duke probably ultimately wins, probably does enough at the end of this game to secure the victory and move on. But Yukon's going to keep this one very, very close, I think, throughout. And I do like the plus five in this one. Yeah, PTSD for me, you talking about Isaiah Evans hitting those open looks, man, watching the Johnny's squander, that 10 point lead with 15 minutes to go. Sting's a little bit as great of a season as it was. Looking forward, I know it's hard to look ahead.
We only have half of the final four, as I mentioned earlier. Do you see a team right now that is head and shoulders above the rest? Are you looking at Arizona saying no one has taken down the wild cats? We'll get our first, first winner, West of Baller, in 25 years. What are you thinking here about the futures market? Not that really anything is all that bettable around this time. But more so from a prediction, who do you like at this point to win it all? Yeah, I mean, it's, it's going to be one hell of a game if we get Arizona and Michigan. And I think that we probably will here. You know, this is just an Arizona team that, you know, the fact that they don't shoot three is at a very high rate has concerned me throughout the course of the tournament. And it hasn't made a bit of difference. Like they've just been so efficient offensively inside the arc. And they've made the three's that they've taken. They take one of the lowest three point rates in the country, but it hasn't bothered them yet. You know, it hasn't become a thing. Maybe it becomes a thing against Michigan because Purdue is not a great defensive team. Arkansas is not a great defensive team. Utah State isn't either.
Arizona's had a pretty favorable path offensively for them as a team that, you know, they, they haven't had to take three's. What happens when they run into a team where they do like Michigan? So I think it's Duke and Michigan in the final. I think Michigan will beat Arizona, but, you know, again, it's just one of those things where I don't really trust Tommy Lloyd either. And you know, he's gotten pretty far here. But again, I think the draw has been very favorable for them. So I think it's Duke and Michigan and I could talk myself into a Michigan position, but I'm going to hire a state fan. So I don't want to do that talking to our very own Adam Burke. Of course, head on over to visa.com, him and his team getting it done over there on a daily basis. Let's take the switch here over to Major League Baseball. And the ABS system is as obviously new for this year, Adam, it is. We were wondering as better as how this might play out. Still very small sample size for us to try and figure that out quite yet. But it was interesting early on here. We have seen, but here's a, here's a shocker. Old umpires are not good at this.
And but in younger umpires are better. At this 70% of the time, the 10 oldest umpires in Major League Baseball have been wrong. Whereas only 40% of the time, the 10 youngest umpires in Major League Baseball have been wrong. So far in the short season, this is something I'm definitely going to follow because we've been saying it forever. These old dudes can't, they don't know what the strike zone is anymore. And it is showing. It's playing out right now. Yeah, for sure. You know, I mean, I turn 40 this year. And every time I go to the eye doctor, my eyesight's getting a little bit worse. So, you know, for these guys, obviously, you know, every little change, especially with the velocity with which those pitches are coming. You don't have a ton of reaction time. It's not a big surprise that older umpires do struggle more than younger ones. But also these younger umpires, they've been calling games with elite velocity for several years now. You know, everybody throws hard in the minor leagues now. And when those guys come up, most of them throw even harder at the big league level. So it's something that they're just accustomed to. Whereas you're the older crew, you know, they're just kind of getting, you know,
to a point where the high Velo, I think is really catching up with them. So we'll see. I mean, here is to see too, you know, does ABS push some guys like C.V. Buckner, for example, into retirement. You know, I think that's definitely something that could happen here as we go forward to the reds. We're five and oh against him yesterday in challenges. Five and oh against C.V. Buckner yesterday on real and that's absurd. Don't let me get to right. You get to and then if you, if you're perfect, they keep renewing, right? Yes. Yeah. That's insane. Yeah. Let's talk about your guardians and the Mariners Sunday night baseball. First edition, first installation of a bit of a new Sunday night baseball format here tonight. What do you like in this game? And then, you know, in reference to your man crush, Chase Delatter, here, four homers and three games, is he still bettable plus three 20 for Al Rookie of the year? Obviously, that number has shortened substantially since opening day, but still the second shot. Yeah, there's no way I would take him to win Rookie of the year. I mean, he's on a significant heater right now, but this is a guy. He's only played about 130 some minor league games in his career because he's very,
very injury prone has kind of a chronic foot problem that, you know, I'm curious to see how the guardians are going to handle this because he's the only guy performing on offense right now. I don't think they wanted him to play four days in a row, five, six days in a row, stuff like that. At some point, they're going to have to give him a day off and just, you know, kind of hope that somebody else can step up at some point. But because he's so injury prone, it's great of a starters this is. And as insane as that home run was last night off of Andres Munoz going up all like that. The kids are great hitter, but I don't know that he's going to stay healthy. So that's not a bet that I would make in terms of Rookie of the year. But first tonight's game goes, I like the over seven and a half in this one. We've had 11 home runs hit in this series already. Slade Sikone and Emerson Hancock are both guys that have a home run problem. They don't miss a ton of bats. So they're both pitched to contact types of guys, both of them making some tweaks to their arsenal in the spring to Hancock specifically throwing more sliders. We'll see, you know, what that means going forward for him. But these are two guys that the command profiles are not super exciting for them.
The ball's been carrying relatively well at T-Mobile Park here in this series. So like the over seven and a half in this one, because also both bullpen's have kind of had their hiccups and have had their issues as well at skating tripods over on the Twitter machine and of course each and every day over at bson.com. He is Adam Burke. Appreciate the time and good luck. Have a good one, gentlemen. When we come back, it's always football season here on Bson. Let's talk some wide receiver props. No one McLean can't find the plate so that's great so far for us. So we'll see if we can't figure out how to get it with making the run off the plate
and on the arm side there for for Nolan McLean. So Rocky start for him there as there are two on in the top of the first inning for the pirates. Lots of baseball to be played, but we're going to need to find the plate. Yeah, you know, the issue here with McLean. So 11 pitches so far, two walks. So that's eight balls, three strikes. He's throwing three pretty good curve balls and that's, you know, his like legend there. I don't want to say legendary for a guy making his ninth start, but his spin rate is astronomical. It's what he's known for is the spin rate on that curve ball. Last year he thrived on getting guys to chase that. No one's chasing it because his fastball like you said, he's running missing arm side. And you know, to get someone to chase your curve ball, you've got to establish command of the strike zone first and he hasn't been doing that. So, you know, not great. 11 pitches, no outs, two walks. You and I both know that's less than ideal. We'll see if you can get back and get us, you know, at least six strikeouts in this. Cash, the yes run first inning and also George Springer home run tickets as he leads off
with a home run there for the Blue Jays against the A's. So George Springer hits the dinger there. Hey, Sue Sanchez now in the batter's box. Second batter of the game there for Toronto against this A's team. I do want to monitor this A's lineup. Joe from a hitting perspective because they might just be a flat over team. If they if they can hit a lick, their pitching is so terrible that they might just be they might just be every single day look to play the over on this team. And it has nothing to do with what ballpark they're playing. I understand about the mind. I don't even care about that. It's like, I think they have some dudes who can hit a little bit. And then the pitching is just so bad. I might just be always looking at over so that team. How about this early challenge? Met's pirates. That's how bad McLean's been finding the zone on a one-one count to the third batter. The Met's felt the need to challenge. And they got it. Oh, there we go. Between a two-one count versus, uh, yeah, it was a great pitch by McLean 97 dotted the corner at the knees, low and away to Reynolds. I mean, you know, sorry to go on the tangent here with the A's and with the ABS.
But we've been talking about ABS so much. It's like you only get two challenges, unless you keep being right and then you keep being granted a new one. Picking your spots is important. We see a lot of teams reluctant to use them early, especially in a one-one count like the Met's just did. But they needed that. McLean gets to strike out on a wicked curveball in the next pitch. So that's, uh, that could potentially bode well for us that challenge. Maybe a turning point for Nolan McLean's afternoon. As far as the athletics in the Blue Jays mat, you're 1,000 percent right. The A's pitching is horrendous. That was my qualm with them coming into the year, because I thought that this team could potentially, and I still think they could potentially be a second-place team in what I expect to be a down year in the American League West. To me, to, you know, to quote former athletic GM Billy Bean, it's the Mariners and then it's 10 feet of crap and everyone else, right? So I think the A's could fight for second in that division. They certainly have the bats to do it. It's just that that pitching is a problem. So it was playing awfully deep there. I don't know. I thought that would have been catchable off the bat. So we'll see. But that is, uh, one across already here for the pirates in the top of the first. We'll keep you monitored there. Mets and pirates. So Mike Evans has a new home.
He is out in San Francisco and they have lined him over at the Draft King Sports Book Joe at 924 and a half yards. We did have some significant injury concerns with him this season. As he missed several games for the bucks. And I guess if we want to talk about concerns, it would be that whenever we actually play real football, he will be 33 years of age as he will turn 33 in August. So we don't normally see wide receivers perform at a high level. Once we kind of get past that 30 years old, you know, it's like the, the 20s are peaking 30, 30, 33 years old. We really start to see guys start to decline. Now Mike Evans is a different animal. There's no doubt about that. But do you see another thousand yard season for him? I guess we only need 925, not technically a thousand. But do you see a monster season for him over there in San Francisco? Yeah, to me, the only handicap here is does Evan stay healthier. Because Matt, if he does, I have no doubt we're going to get another thousand yard season.
Forget the 925. Like, I love this guy. And I think, I mean, you know, he's a first ballad, I believe genuinely should be and it's hard in the NFL should be a first ballot Hall of Famer when his time comes. But you look at San Francisco, right? Passing offense was a problem this past year. They just didn't have the receiving core, right? McCaffrey leads a team in receiving yards because the receivers were not there. 2024, Joanne Jennings had 975 receiving yards. Like, the offense is going to set Evans up to do this. IUK had 1300 in 2023. I would take Mike Evans if he's healthy over IUK in 2026. So I actually would go over here. I have no issue taking that. It's just a matter of does he say healthy or not? If he plays 15 games, he goes over this number. So here we go with another interesting one. And when this came down, there were a lot of people questioning the, the signing of Alec Pierce, 949 and a half for him as he returns to the Colts as seemingly.
Their number one, depending on what they ended up, end up trying to do in the draft or whatever it might be. But Alec Pierce coming in needing 950 yards to clear his mark. I'm tempted to go under here. I mean, he had a great year. He did barely crack, you know, a thousand yards for the first time in his career. Pierce is talented. He's got the big playability, but he's kind of too boomer bust. That's, you know, he needed, I mean, look, I'm not saying this cannot be repeated. But 21 yards of catch for him. I mean, like to get to the thousand yards, like he needed 21 yards of catch. Like, I know that that's his game. I get it. But he got there on 47 catches. I mean, I just, it's, I don't know, man. It just to me, the nature of the way that he plays. And then again, now if he misses any time whatsoever, you can, he is definitely cooked. Because he's just not a volume guy. I think that this is, I think they're baking in that he's supposedly the number one there.
Now I, again, I think they address this in some way, shape or form. This is definitely an under that I will actually probably play this. If this gets available, you know, in a market that I can bet I'm not in a draft king's market or whatever, but this seems like a playable number to me. Just betting on that he is not a true number one. He's a awesome guy for what he does, but I don't think that he is, you know, your typical prototypical guy that is going to garner 12 targets a game and catch eight of them, you know. Yeah, I'm right there with you. Now, you know, it's actually crazy. You mentioned the yards per catch. It was higher two years ago. It's over 22 yards per catch. He finished with 824 on the season. That's the thing. It's like, yeah, it was phenomenal. But what did he have like 37 catches on the years? A whole like, I don't know if the cult's offense. Now last year was such a tale of two seasons where they were phenomenal. The first nine or so games and then dreadful the last eight. I don't know if they'll be as bad as they were in the back end of last year, but I also don't think they'll be as good as they were in the first nine or so games of last
season. I think they'll be more balanced, but I think that skews probably towards being, you know, maybe like an eight and nine team. I don't love this team. I don't love the offense. I don't love Danny Jones. I can't get there on pierce. I'm right there with you. Romeo Dobbs is going to head up to New England and they needed a receiver pretty badly. They think that Romeo Dobbs might could be the guy 774 and a half attached to Dobbs. I don't love it. I don't love it. I mean, are we sure do we know that the Patriots are done adding receivers? I feel like they're not done adding and, you know, Dobbs on the depth chart right now is the number one guy. I don't know if he'll be number one in week one. And also, I love the chemistry with Drake May and Mac Collins. I think Collins might actually have an even increased role. And that could take away from Dobbs. Yeah, I look at Dobbs as probably a very solid number two guy in wherever he ends up. I can't imagine when the Patriots made this move that they were thinking that he was going to be the
answer to them truly needing a number one. And so I can't, it's, I know it's not that many yards, but also it's not really, you know, a super high potent offense either. And all of that. And so like, I think, you know, you've got the running back there. I, I'm going to go under again. I know it's like not fun to bet unders. But I mean, I think it's under again here on Dobbs. Like you say, you mentioned Hollins. I think they're probably not done picking up guys. This case on booty move into the number one role there. Is he the guy that's just kind of been waiting to be given the opportunity? So another under for me there. And I know it's not fun. Like we said, not fun to bet unders, but I think it's an under. Yeah, I mean, booty Hollins and Dobbs could all finish in the 650 700 yard range. You know, when we come back, we'll check in on those lines for the elite eight games and everything going on over Major League Baseball.
