This is ready, set bet with Matt Brown and Mike Sommage on Fisand. These force betting networks. Hey, is running that bad here on a Sunday, Matt Brown. Joe Seralo in, Joe, we got Sommage just all you know, doing whatever he's doing up and down the California coast right now. But it doesn't matter, you got us for the next three hours. Of course, we have a couple of final four teams. We'll talk about those games. We have two more to be decided today. We've got Major League Baseball to talk about some games when as we expected. Some games got a little interesting. And of course, we'll preview going on everything going on today. We got NFL Draft Talk, a great guest list. Greg Peterson is going to join us. We'll get his thoughts. We'll get Adam Burke's thoughts as well. And then James Anderson is going to join us as well to talk a little Major League Baseball. Joe, how are you feeling, baby? You know, Matt, we lost Iowa, but got back by Nuking Arizona. I got a half a pot of espresso in my system right now in five hours. There we go. It wouldn't be better. Absolutely love it. So as we said, so Illinois did pull away from Iowa late there, 71 to 59.
Iowa had the four point lead at half. If you're holding the seven or the six and a half, you're feeling great about that. And then you look the two minute mark, getting a little dicey, but you're like, okay, not that bad at 63 to 59, two minutes left in the game. What could possibly go wrong? How about Iowa not scoring again the rest of the game in Illinois going on an A.O. run to cover this thing? Any and all numbers got home for the fighting a lie and I you and I did see a little bit of money coming in late on Illinois from some people. And you know, we just, we held, we held strong to our position there on Iowa. And again, they just couldn't make any shots down the stretch at all. Illinois just shot 18% from three in this game. And at 17 more boards than Iowa did, including 16 offensive rebounds over the course of the game in this thing. And so at the two minute mark, yeah, you're like, okay, we're down four, but I was hanging tough. They're not going to get outside of three possessions of this. And instead the A.O. run for Illinois and all of those tickets go up in flames and Illinois
moves on to the final four. Yeah, well, you hit the nail on the head right there, man. I mean, those last two minutes were really just a microcosm of the second half. It was like death by a thousand paper cuts for us Iowa backers there. Illinois got everything they wanted in the paint. Now, this is a team that on the years of whole has shot pretty efficiently from outside. I mean, all of their offensive metrics, 2.3 point doesn't matter. They've been absolutely fantastic. But yesterday, the threes weren't falling. So they adjusted and that's what great teams do. They played absolute bully ball in the paint. You mentioned plus 17 on the glass. How about points in the paint? 40 to 12 over the hawk eyes. And when you attack the paint like that, you're going to get to the free throw line. And that was another thing Illinois did great in the entire second half, but especially in those final two minutes, of course, you can argue that they earn those trips. You can argue there was an element of desperation with Iowa fouling when they felt the game was still within reach, obviously. But the the line I really separating themselves in those final two minutes, but it was really
the entire second half that they just dominated in the paint and the hawk eyes couldn't catch up. Yeah. It's the first half. I think we were probably both feeling pretty good about the position we had and about two minutes into that second half, I'm like, oh, something's changed. I mean, this doesn't feel good. And then even though they kept it tight and they kept it tight and they kept it tight, I almost did when it got to four points, I'm going, oh boy, this is like, this is prime. Like this is prime to get like kind of bad beat, but instead what a bad at least it wasn't a bad beat. It was just, hey, they didn't score again for two minutes. And then I didn't have to sweat that one. So it is what it is. We move on. Illinois is in the final four. We get a massive second half from Arizona. They head to the final four for the first time since 2001, 79, 64 win over Purdue in this thing. Arizona down seven at the half. They outscore Purdue 48 to 26 in the second half. And Joe, this is not a, like I said, this is not a pad on the back. This is just how the game went.
We talked about Arizona trying to attack this Purdue team down low, trying to get guys in foul trouble. That is exactly what happened early on now. It didn't matter in the first half because Purdue still took the seven point lead, but the strategy nonetheless was to do that. They get to the line 22 times, do the wildcats and make 20 of those 22 free throws. A huge part of this one, but really just the dominance in the second half. You kind of just saw it coming and then once they got out to the lead, it was game over. Yeah. You know, man, everyone likes to talk. And I think somewhat deservedly so about the Duke whistle this time of year and the Blue Devils getting a lot of calls and a lot of trips to the free throw line. And after the St. John's game, it was all over Twitter was the Duke free throw differential. Arizona has the biggest free throw differential this tournament. Now, I'm not saying the wildcats are getting calls. I think in their case, a lot of it is earned. And like you said, they just attacked the paint. They bullied Purdue in that second half. We talked about this game and we both laid the five and a half with Arizona. I said yesterday that I expected this thing to be tight within the number for the first
30 minutes. Forget a tight game. Purdue was in control for the first 20. And then Arizona just slipped a switch at half time and they went nuclear in that second half. It was great. I didn't watch a minute of the second half, which I also loved because I watched the first half. I was down seven. I shut the game off. I come back and I've got a 15 point when it was a beautiful feeling to come back to. Of course, we will get Greg and Adam's thoughts on that game. Of course, the two games coming up as well over in the association. The spurs go. They destroy the bucks. We talked about that massive spread in that one that got home. Defond Castle, a 22 10 and 10 triple double Wimbee, just a casual 23 15 and six for him. Yet again, by the way, I'll check out those MVP odds that are shrinking right now for Victor Wimbee. The spurs won eight and a row 24 of their last 26. They are just two games back of OKC. And I know it seems crazy to think that SGA might be able to lose this MVP race. But if there is a world that exists with the spurs overtake, OKC and this thing and they
are able to win the number one seed in the West, I think they're going to be a pretty big call for Wim and Yama to get some MVP votes. I don't know if this thing odds are kind of dictating it right now down to kind of minus two 60 estranged to 40 estranged depending on where you're looking in favor of SGA where this was 10 to one 10 days ago. This first team just absolutely rolling right now. Yeah, I mean, I'll tell you what when I look at those odds and it's too late in the season, I don't think it's realistic, but I'm like for the Lakers who were looking like they were going to be a play in team a couple months ago to be up to the three seed right now. I think Luke at 15 to one is a little bit mispriced. I think he probably deserves a more consideration than he's going to get that said, I don't see it happening, right? The odds are indicative of it. Yes, maybe that's a better price than he should have attached to his name, but it's a two horse race here. I just struggle to see the thunder not getting the one seed, not that I don't think San Antonio is the better team.
I actually do think San Antonio right now is the better team, but you just you're running out of time, right? Now, here's the deal. OKC has the nicks actually today and then a back to back they have the nicks and pistons today and tomorrow. So then they have the Lakers twice. They're at the Clippers who have been hot at the Nuggets and they close with Phoenix. OKC's schedule is not a cakewalk. Now is there a world where maybe they go five and three San Antonio goes seven and one? If you believe that, I would bet Wembee at two to one. If you believe that San Antonio, because remember, they just have to be tied. We talked about this yesterday, first of the tiebreaker. If you believe San Antonio is going to get the one seed, can get the one seed, then maybe Wembee is the right play because I think ultimately that's what it's going to come down to. No K cutting hand there for the pistons. They get it done anyway over the timber walls, 109 to 87 wolves still for clear the suns for that seventh spot over there in the west. So nothing to really worry about there from that standpoint, the sixers put it into the Hornets five game winning streak a 118, 114 victory, Mb 29, Maxi 26, George 26, sixers
just a half game back of the Hawks and the Raptors for that six seed to try to not have to be in the play and they don't have any head to head games with those teams though. So they will have to get it done with their final eight games of the heat wizards, timber wolves, pistons, spurs, rockets, Pacers, and bucks. Now there are three tanking teams in those final eight there for the sixers, but you get the big three back out there for this sixers team, Joe, and you see it and you just kind of go, man, could this team actually make a run in the post if you have Mb, Maxi and George all on the court out there and you got edge comb as you're kind of fourth option. I mean, it's a pretty good team. I know this is a record doesn't say it. He hadn't then been out there very long, but I think the sixers might be a team that people do not want to play in the playoffs. No, I mean, dude, does anyone want to play them in the first round, like if I'm Boston or the Knicks, and that's your two seven, you're a thousand percent right now, I have a feeling that they're probably going to end up with a five or six seed down the stretch here just because we've like you said, watched a lot of basketball without Joe LNB and Paul
George this year. It seems like barring anything catastrophic. They're all going to be playing down the stretch alongside Tyrese Maxi. The thing is, we've seen the sixers at full health in the playoffs before. I mean, we've seen Mb out there with Maxi and company and they haven't gotten it done. So I really struggled to have faith in this team in the post season. Can they take you to six? Maybe seven? Absolutely. Do I think that they're going to prevail over the piston Celtics Knicks? Maybe the Cavaliers? Maybe not? I mean, not too long ago Cleveland was a hot ticket. People were betting on them to, you know, outside shot when the one seed. Maybe they can overtake Cleveland, but I still don't think even when healthy, they're going to overcome the piston Celtics Knicks. The Hawks beat the tanking kings, the sons beat the tanking jazz, everything falls into place for those teams as they race to the bottom as we talked about yesterday. With all of that, we'll talk some major league baseball when we come back on the other side here. What went down yesterday? What are some things that we're looking at today as well? And let me tell you, we were wondering about that ABS system there, Joe, I got some numbers
that I think might be pretty interesting for some people out there. And it's going to sound a little for people who are getting up there longer in the tooth. Fandool. It's time to dance. 21 plus and president selects seats. Bonus bets are nonwithdrawable and expire seven days after receive. Tokens are received in increments of one per day. Restrictions apply. See terms at sportsbook.fandall.com. Gamlin Problem Call 1-800-Gambler. We're going to hear on these of these sports betting network. Matt Brown. Joe Cerralo in here for the next three hours. Appreciate you guys being with us. Your channel 158-2-TV. Vista Watch app. Terrestrial stations across this great country of ours. We have a golf tournament that's going on. Gary Woodland is one stroke ahead of Nikolai Hoigard, who is five strokes clear of the nearest guy to him. So Menwood Lee, Michael Jordan center, sitting there at 12 under. So they have a long way to come back, try to catch both of these guys at the top. In the what could go wrong, Joe? I have both of these guys.
And so a guy that I have both of them at the top of the leaderboard where our friends at data golf have a 94% win equity between the two guys. And so yeah, of the 6% that's dangling out there, let's try and not hit the outlier here. Let's try and go with the chalk and get one of these dudes home. I mean, it would take a collapse by both. Hopefully, not in the cards today, they will be teeing off in a couple of hours. You know, Matt, I mean, look, you're the golf expert, obviously. You do a phenomenal job on long shots with Weston with Kelly. Golf, not really my domain, the closest I follow this week has been tigers. Do you? Yes. But why is he driving? Why is he driving? He's a billionaire. Right. He's a billionaire. Yeah. I mean, he could be driven in anything, any mode of transportation on the face of the play. If he wanted to take a school bus and just trick it out and like have the greatest, like cool, he could get driven. He's a billionaire. What are you doing driving? I do not understand this.
In all fairness, it was Florida, correct? It was. It was. Like, yeah. So a DUI in Florida, that's like a Tuesday. That's an average Tuesday morning. Well, I think a lot of Tuesday. What am I going to do? You know, or two Thursday, whatever it was, like, I was like, you know, go out with the senior citizen. You can slam a bottle of tequila and a couple sunny side-up eggs and then you get behind a wheel. That's a Tuesday morning in Florida. We can ask our boss, Steve Cohen about that, you know? But yeah, it's the golf scene is not one that I'm all into. I might though, just because while I'm sitting here with you and I have the TV on in the background, I might look to get in on Woodland. I mean, he has gone pretty correctly if I'm wrong. He's been pretty wired a wire here this weekend, right? Like, the guy has looked consistent as hell, normally, you know, someone's got a big day here and there. If you start strong, you might not finish strong. Woodland looks really good from what I've seen. And this is just strictly social media highlights. Yeah, no, he's Matt is the golf expert here. No, no, no, he's absolutely, yeah, he's dialed. This is the best we've seen in a, in a while, his coach came on yesterday during the broadcast.
I was talking about, yeah, we've really worked on a ton of, ton of stuff and whatever. I mean, at 41, he said 40 years old, he's got one of the highest ball speeds on, on tour. It's, it's absolutely ridiculous. So we were talking about the under in the Pirates and Metz. That looked like a rock and chair win until it almost didn't, but that still gets home there as the Pirates and the Metz get great starts out of Keller and Peterson yesterday. Metz win on a Luis Robert three run walkoff in the 11th inning, one of their big pickups in the off season. Another one of the reasons why I like this Metz team as much as I do. I think Luis Robert is going to be one of those guys that the change of scenery is going to do him so incredibly good, Joe. He was so hyped coming through that White Sox organization comes up, plays with a bunch of bombs and then all that pressure, I think, probably really kind of put a ceiling on where he was going to be able to go. Now he's not the guy. He's not even the second guy or the third guy there on this team. And I think that's going to be a situation for him to thrive. I see a pretty big season out of Robert. Yeah, Matt, you know, it's funny.
I was highly critical of the Metz off season and I didn't like a lot of the moves. I still stand by the boba shit move. I did not like at all. I thought if you asked me which trio you'd prefer, beat Alonzo at first base, Beaty at third and Palanco D.H.ing or Palanco at first, Bishet at third and Beaty D.H.ing, I'd have gone with the former option every time Alonzo at first over Bishet at third. And it felt like because there was such backlash and everyone was so outraged about losing Alonzo, the Bishet signing almost spawned out of desperation like shoot. We've got to do something. We've got to sign a big name, a big bat to keep people happy here. So I didn't like that move. The Robert deal was incredible because even if you got a gold glove caliber fielder who couldn't hit a lick, you gave up nothing. You gave up a pitching prospect I had never heard of and I'm pretty in tune with the Metz farm system. And Luis on Helicunia, who I love as a pinch runner. I love his personality. He had no spot on this team. He was going to be a AAA player. So it made absolute sense.
And then to your point, he had to be the guy in Chicago. He had no protection in the lineup. Of course he was chasing and striking out, not getting pitches to hit. Now he's got protection in the lineup. Now he's got Soto in front of him and Polanco in front of him or behind him and Bati right there. And like now you have no choice but to pitch to him. And oh crap, he looks pretty good when you have the pitch to him. So yeah, that deal was actually my favorite of the Metz off season. I do want to pivot here, not to be ADHD TV and go all over the place. But because I really can't contribute to golf talk, the way that you do, I just checked our friends at Profit X. You can currently get Gary Woodland plus 118 out, right? And then Hodgeguard is that who's a Nikolai? Boyguard, okay. There we go. Plus 112. So you said there's a 94% chance that one of those two guys wins. Yes. Well, you can get Boyguard at plus 112 and Woodland at plus 118 on Profit X. There you go. I mean, so there are two plus monies, by the way, it's very good if anyone was wondering
how to, how to read that. So yesterday you were on Dylan Seas, Dylan Seas, 12Ks, 24 swinging strikes for Dylan Seas yesterday. I'm able to go six innings because you know, whenever you strike a ton of guys out and all this stuff like that, like you rack up a pitch count, he got up to 90. They pull him out to five and a third. But it ended up being an extra eating win over the A's, but you kind of saw the upside there of Seas and what can be, what could possibly be for this Blue J's team if Seas can stay healthy. Yeah, man. I mean, look, you know, there's no disputing what Seas is capable of. It's a matter of his execution, but he was on yesterday. I mean, there's no doubt, no question, the adrenaline played a factor, right? You inked that ridiculous, I thought a ridiculous contract considering the year he was coming off. But when I mentioned, when I took that same game, Parley of Toronto Moneyline and Seas only six or more strikeouts when his total was seven and a half, I mentioned that despite the terrible year he had a season ago, his case per nine of 11 and a half was the second best marketer's career.
So the strikeout stuff was there. He just walked a ton of guys, you know, hardly went over five innings last season. So he had a lot of stuff going against him, but yesterday he was sharp, man. The breaking stuff was just superb. The heater is always there. It's just a matter of locating it for Dylan Seas. You know, I'll admit, when Toronto was down six to two, I was kicking myself because I'm like, man, I brought down his, uh, his K prop from seven and a half to six plus. And the guy had 12 of the 16 out T recorded didn't go deep, which is kind of the usual for a guy who strikes out a lot and walks a lot, uh, five and a third, though, that 16 outs, 12 of them, 75% strikeouts is absolutely insane. And then the blue J is Mount an incredible comeback and they win it in extras. So the same game parlay gets on. We got the Yankees complete the three game sweep of the Giants, uh, three, one win there. The Giants have, uh, one, one more run than you and I have scored in three major league baseball games to start the season. So, uh, yeah, that is going to need to change there over in the Bay as, uh, the Yankees
get that done there. The Dodgers start three, you know, on the season six, strong out of glass now. And I don't know if this is a, oh boy, uh, they're getting it done here, uh, Joe with Shohei's hit in 125, Tucker's hit in 182, Betz is hit in 182 and Tiasco Hernandez is hit in 100 and they've started three, you know, so, uh, better things are still yet to come here for this Dodgers team. Yeah, I mean, they're, they're just like a pig and you know, right, you know, they, they couldn't lose if they wanted to, uh, I mean, Arizona's out there and they're playing, you know, seven, eight good innings and they just can't finish. So it's early. I don't want to overreact, but my goodness, Arizona, you've had a chance to take two out of the first three of your season and you're just squandering this stuff. Like at least give the rest, the diamond backs aren't contending in the NLS, but give the rest of the leagues some hope. Like show other teams that the Dodgers can be got and, uh, no one's hit and their pitching looks eh, but they're still winning games. I mean, I just, you look at this, Dan, you see the like all their dudes are hitting sub 200
and you're like, and they're still winning games like this is, this is the embarrassment of riches, you know, continues there for this team. We'll get to your plays. I've got a couple of plays today as well whenever we get back on the other side here, but I said I wanted to look into that ABS and I guess the computer listens to me or, you know, if there's just smarter people than me out there that are also tracking all of this stuff. And so early on, obviously, there's only been 35 games in all major league baseball so far, but early on here, the 10 oldest umpires in major league baseball are losing 70% of the ABS challenges. 70% of them, the 10 oldest umpires, including yesterday, if you did not see this CB buttoner, uh, uh, sequence with the reds, it is absolutely fantastic. So Yohenio Suarez is at the plate and he's got a one two count ball comes in. It's rings him up Suarez instantly taps the helmet, looks, didn't happen. No, sorry, that's a ball. One pitch later outside rings him up, taps the helmet, crowd goes nuts because it comes
back at the ball again, 40,000 people lose their minds like it is like it lose their mind. This guy tried to ring him up twice on balls, right? It's just like again, but the 10 youngest umpires in major league baseball are only losing 40% of the challenges now. Very small sample size. We are only a few days into the season, but this is definitely something I'm going to track because you might be getting to the point Joe where we go, Hey, man, you're just too old to do this. Your eyes don't work the same. I know it's Sunday morning. Did we just become meet the press? Are we talking politics or umpiring? I mean, I'm serious. I know. It's across the board, you know, at some point, like, let the young guys take over at some point. Yeah, that's CB Buckner. By the way, credit Geno Suarez, that first pitch to Buckner's defense, which I don't really like him too much. That first pitch was a quarter of an inch off the day. What is I just absolutely unbelievable come back with a major league baseball and maybe just a minute fell draft. Welcome back to Ready, said bet with Matt Brown and Mike Sommage on V-Syn, these sports
betting network. Off and running here, ready, said bet, decent, these sports betting network, Matt Brown, Joe Swallow. So this is probably going to come as no surprise that you and I ended up on the same bet here and this one because I have a love affair with Nolan McLean, okay? I do. I'm going to admit it. I love every single thing that I've seen about this guy and he is on the mound today for the New York Mets against the Pittsburgh pirates and start with your angle because I kind of, you did this one yesterday. I do think that this is an interesting way to kind of mitigate when a team is a big favorite
in a game, how to get a more palatable number. Yeah. Matt, first off, how could you not love this guy? You know, yesterday we spent a good deal of time talking about Jacob DeGrom, right? Because he got scratched with the stiff neck from his, uh, his start. It's like when DeGrom came up and I discussed this yesterday, it was Noah Sindegarde, it was Raphael Monteiro, he was an afterthought, right? Nolan McLean wasn't necessarily an afterthought, but Jonah Tongue and Brandon Sprote were more highly regarded prospects going into last season than Nolan McLean. And he comes out debut against Seattle, five and a third, eight K's, Shubb's mates, eight starts, looks like a Sion candidate in seven of the eight. And I expect him to pick up where he left off today. So yeah, the angle, it's what I did with Cease and the Blue Jays, I'm going alternate line on the strikeouts and the Metz money line at alt line. His total is you can go over five and a half if you want to lay 50 cents or you can go over six and a half at about plus 120. So I'm going over five and a half, six plus strikeouts and the Metz money line. And I got this on the prediction markets at plus $1.35.
So I love the price. Look, he went six or more strikeouts in seven of eight starts last season. The guy's phenomenal, his 30.3% K rate was about the 91st percentile if he had qualified way above the league average of a 22% K rate also. And I know take opening day out, you know, put it in a little jar, forget about it because he had a lot of weird stuff going on with a Neil Cruz in center field and Paul Schienes didn't look great. The laborious at bats, but also Cruz not helping him historically day games at city field play towards towards pitching towards low scoring affairs. It's tough to see the ball. And you know, one of my good friends, he's been on visa with me a million times, Anthony Recker, former Metz catcher, who would know better about sightlines than a former Metz catcher. It is really hard to see the ball. He hated hitting in day games at city field. So you get a guy who's got like all sorts of elite spin rate and you make it hard to see the ball. I would say he's going to strike out six or more pirates in this.
Yeah, I went, I played over five and a half and over six and a half strikeouts that averages out to kind of about minus kind of about minus one 20 ish because you're getting plus money on the six and a half and then the minus money there on the five and a half. I'm just again, I'm a believer. I'm a believer in this pirate's team being able to have some swinging miss. I know I'm a little bit higher than the pirates. I think the most people are, but I'm not going to deny what you get out there from this team from a swinging miss standpoint. And so I put the five and a half and the six and a half on the clean. I think he's going to come out and this is a dude, obviously, WBC and all this. So Joe, this is like, he's played competitively already. He has gone up against, you know, stacked lineups in the different style. Yeah. So I mean, this is a dude that's going to step in against his pirates lineup and go like, this is all this all going up against today. Let's do it. And so took the over five and a half a and the over six and a half averages out to kind of about the minus one 20, whatever you put the two together. The met I'm curious when you do that, when you go a ladder like that, right? It's not like a crazy ladder. You're not including ults that are like eight to one, 10 to one in there.
Do you have it so that if he lands on six, it just essentially cancels each other out. Or do you bet the five and a half heavier so that if he lands on six, you make a profit. Yeah. What you said, it's basically a wash. It's so it's basically a push if I middle it, it's basically a push. And so it's all the all the upside is on the is on him getting to the bigger number. And mainly that's because the different books out here were just at different numbers. And so like MGM's at five and a half right now. But then the but one of the other local books here is it six and a half that they use fandals numbers. It's boy here uses fandals numbers. They're at six and a half, whereas MGM's at five and a half. And so the prices were not I didn't love either one on both sides. I just kind of split the two and and we'll go from there. But yeah, I, I think McLean is going to show some people some stuff here today. And hopefully we're right there on that one. Some other very interesting games though on the slate today whenever you kind of start to look up and down here. I mean, right off of the bat, right off the bat.
This national team, I understand they got they got throttled yesterday. But they have put up at least an early fight in a couple of these games. They get him an aga today with Irvin going for them, but they are massive dogs. So early on in the season, John, very curious as to your betting thoughts here. I mean, we're getting plus you can get plus two. What's the biggest number out there? Plus two 17. I'm seeing out there on a national team. And it's like, man, I get it. The Cubs are definitely the better team. But buddy, we are still early on in the season here and we're getting, we're getting these types of prices. I don't know. It's very tempting to me just because hey, round ball, round bat, weird things happen. That is an accurate statement. Do we know what the wind is doing at rigley today? Because I'm seeing 57 and sunny at game time. You know, that bodes, I think pretty well for potentially some runs. You know, like what I would look at here is more so the total.
Now the thing is, it's nine. We see it rigley sometimes if the wind's blowing out. We'll see a total of like 11 and a half, right? The total's nine. The thing is Jake Irvin last year had an ERA near six for the full season. Big Irvin stinks. You might be on top of this because if this is correct, it is saying 12 miles an hour out to right center. So it is, it's blowing out. And if we're only getting a nine total there in that, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I'm an aga did not look good last second half last year. He really struggled, right? Like September, he had an ERA of six and a half, um, July, four and a half, August, he was really good. It was two and a half. But, you know, I mean, yeah, for the bulk of July and September, I mean, I'll get kind of stunk in the playoffs. He got hit around. Actually, there it is. We just found, we found the, we found the dealer. So I'm going to play the over nine in that one. I think we're betting this together. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, if this weather report is correct, and again, you know, I'm not a weather guy,
never, never spent one single second of meteorology school. But I, this, I'm going by somebody else's stuff here. It says like 12 to 14 miles an hour out to, uh, to write, uh, well, we're more accurate than weather men. I mean, they're only right about 30% of the time. We have to be at least 53%. So, yes. Let's go with us. This is, this is true. So, all right, there we go. We found us a bet. That's fun. I like talking through that and seeing where we are. That's how we end up on, on stuff like that. So I really do. Oh, I'm getting nine and a half on the, because the prediction markets don't ever get flat. Yes. Yeah. I'm getting plus money. Yeah. Or even money. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. What, what did you lay on the nine? Uh, it is. It is. It is. It is 20. So minus 120. It laid 20 cents. Okay. Yeah. At nine and a half. I'm taking the over even money. We're locked in. Yeah. There we go. Let's get some, let's get some, uh, get some runs over there and that one. Let's hope that the weather report is correct. So one, another. And it comes one over that by themselves yesterday. Sorry. Yes.
This is true. It comes. Yeah. You know, they put up a couple of digits. A, another interesting, uh, angle here. If you guys are following kind of some of these pitching prospects and some of these guys that are going to be names that we talk about, probably, Joe, I would imagine, you know, a, a ton over the course of the season of claim being one of those guys. But Connolly early is starting for the Boston Red Sox today, going up against the Cincinnati Reds early is one of those guys. It has a, about a 22-ish, 24-ish to one attached to him for rookie of the year, but had a cup of coffee last year with a ridiculously high strikeout rate for this Red Sox team, nearly 38% in his, uh, few starts that he had last year. Yeah. My only thing with that strikeout number, it's a dash inflated by his day. Maybe you, when he pumped out 11 in, uh, in five innings, but yeah, still, I mean, pretty consistent couple of seven spots, you know, he's not going to go more than five innings. So when you're looking at early, it's, all right, well, how many do I think this guy can
get in five innings? The Reds lineup, pretty swing and miss heavy in there, especially like the Suarez edition. I mean, you know, he's going to give them power. He's also a high strikeout guy, right? Ellie, great hitter, also a high strikeout guy. So they've got some, uh, some high whiff percentages in there. I could look at early, but no pun intended. It's just too early in the season for me. Um, you know, this game, you got two young stud. Don't forget Rhett Louder on the other side, like this kid has insane potential. They both made five or six starts last year, Louder and six starts at a 1.1 ERA. I mean, young pitching in the National League, there was no shortage of it. You've got Louder and Burns with Cincinnati, McLean with the Metz and the American League early, obviously, who's opposite Louder today. This should be a fun game to me. This is the kind of game where you just sit back and watch and enjoy, you know, watching these two young guys learning a little bit about their games. I don't know if I can get there on anything in this one. If anyone's curious, though, the louder strikeout prop is only four and a half at plus 126 on the over.
If you think that he can get five cases, yeah, I know against the Red Sox team. I mean, like goodness gracious. He is, like you say, he is also electric. So that is, I'm going to have to do a little research here on the break. I'll see if that one ends up in the account as well. Wow, that is disrespectful almost in my, in my opinion. Unless they just, he's only clear that once in his career. Yeah, I wonder if we've already heard they're not going to let him go deep or something in that game. We'll do some research here whenever we come back to Greg Peterson. We'll get all his college basketball thoughts. Welcome back to Ready, Set, Bet with Matt Brown and Mike Savage on V-Syn. V-Syn, V-Syn, force, Betty, Network. Right to bet here on V-Syn, Matt, Joe, and we are proud to be able to welcome to the program.
The one, the own, the superhero. It is Greg Peterson joining us here, Greg. We know baseball season is upon us. We will get to baseball because I know that you love baseball as much as Joe. And I do that being said, we got to start with college basketball. And before we get to the games today, any takeaways for you from yesterday? Not just yesterday, but how about all tournament long? What we have been seeing is that these underdogs they give you a good half. Sometimes they give you a good 30 minutes, even like 32, 33 minutes. The favorites, they just keep pulling away late. We saw with Iowa getting the lead in the first half. Illinois, they storm back in the second half. You see it in the late game. Purdue, they get up 39 to 32 at the half. And then Arizona, they put the clams down. They absolutely destroy Purdue in the second half. It's been happening all tournament long. If you've been doing nothing but taking live numbers on these favorites that fall down, don't let's see how the world's greatest first half.
And then just you've been on them to be able to cover the number. They've been able to do so time and time again. Big is takeaway for me. These favorites just romping in the last 10 to 15 minutes of games. Really, the big is takeaway for me. Yeah, it's a great point, Greg. I mean, we saw it with, you know, you mentioned two instances yesterday. How about Michigan the other day? Again, Salabama down 11 to 2 right out of the gate down to at half time. They win end cover by double digits here. Well, now they're laying it was seven and a half at open. That was the contest number that we got against Tennessee. It's been bet up to eight and a half at most shops today. Would you lay that with the Wolverines? Are you looking to bet it live? I mean, you've got two very different contrasting styles of basketball here between Rick Barnes and Dusty Mays Swads. I did take the eight and a half with Tennessee. And the biggest reason why they are so good on the glass, they rebound 44.4% of their mishats as an offense rebound. That is number one in all of college basketball. Now, you've got a Michigan team that's really good down low.
A day, Mara, Yaksal, Lendabor, all these guys. They're going to be six F plus rebounds per game and for Michigan. The team is number two in the country with regards to their own two-point shooting percentage. So they do a very rock solid job there. But for the Tennessee team, I do think that they're going to be able to hold in there because they've had a turnover issue all season long. They're about to our 37th in the country. In terms of turnover, it's on a perpossession basis on offense. But now you go up against a Michigan team that the one thing that they really do not do is generate turnovers about to our 80th in the country in terms of turnover, it's on a perpossession basis generated on the defensive side. Things Michigan relatively rocks on three-point shooting team as well. They're shooting about 37 or so percent from three parts. That's the top 50 mark in the country. But with Tennessee, they do such a good job with regards to their three-point shooting defense. They're two-point shooting defense. I think that they find a way to hold in there, especially with this summer, getting up to 8.8 F in some spots, did take the place here with Tennessee. Really feel like Rick Barnes. Last few seasons because this is his third straight e-need aid appearance
starting to find something. So just the points with Tennessee. Greg, if we're going to play devil's advocate here, if we're watching this game and Tennessee's not able to slow it down and Michigan is just running up and down the court and you find them playing to Michigan's tempo and falling into the trap of playing into their game. Is this one of those where you were just talking about off-air to us and then obviously we brought in with the talking about the favorites? Could you see yourself switching how this game might end up? Or would you have confidence in that Tennessee team to realize that we can't fall in the trap of Michigan and we can't just sit there and run up and down the court with them? I don't think that it's necessarily going to be based on tempo because Tennessee's a team that has two really good scores. Jacobi, Gillespie, hold on, Dave, Aiman, both of these guys give you 16 plus points per game. I actually think that they can do it. Okay, job in terms of scoring. I think the biggest thing is taking a look at this game, making sure that Michigan isn't like super cold from three and then able to turn it on a little bit late because I do think that when it comes to the Tennessee team, they are one of those teams that can be able to hold on
late and we saw them pull off really one of the loan offsets of this week's 16. Being able to take down, I would say the way that they were because I would say could get nothing going from three parts. Joy that they were able to contain a lot of members. Sullivan was very, very impressive in my opinion. So with Tennessee, I think the big thing is not necessarily tempo, but taking a look at this game like if you could get Michigan instead of being like a seven and a half, eight and a half point favor, being able to get that down like two and a half, three and a half, I think that that would be more of the buy point for Michigan rather than just taking a look at the tempo itself. Well, Iowa went up big early, Alabama went up big early, Purdue went up early. So maybe you do get a Michigan minus two and a half, three and a half of Tennessee follows suit with a pretty consistent trend that we've seen over the past two or three days. Greg, how about the other game? Yukon Duke, speaking of favorites, trailing early. Duke has either been tied or behind with 15 minutes to go in all three of its games. If Yukon has a lead with 15 minutes to go,
can the Huskies hold it? What do you like? I see the five on the screen here still quite a few five and a halves out there. What's your play? What's your read on this one? I did lay out with Duke. I was able to find a four and a half on Friday. Still like it here at five to five and a half mainly because with Duke, they're finally fully healthy. And I think that that's a big key for them. Caleb Foster was missing for five games in the five games without Caleb Foster. The team was shooting just 30% from three, 44.7% from the field and in that sweet 16 game, again, St. John's. He had a big impact coming off the bench. He was able to give the team 12 points. I really do think that he's going to be able to go out there and be able to give this team just a big positive booster. Along with Patrick Negamba, a guy that was missing towards being playing for the NCAA tournament as well with Yukon. There's still deal with the Silas Emory injury as well. Guy, that's been able to give them about six assists per game this far this season. And for Yukon, while they do a nice job down low, Tarris Reed being a WVA rebounds frame,
Alex Careman, all sorts of versatility out of them. It is a Yukon team that they still do have just a little bit of difficulty with regards to perimeter offense as well. So LeBal just is up on the same three point shooter that he has been in the pass and for Duke. Really, the big issue for them this season has been the fact that they've been an ordinary three point shooting team. Not going to call them bad, but relatively ordinary. But I mean, with Yukon being sort of in the same boat, I think that Duke having the most versatile player out there on the floor and Cameron Booser with them really being able to find their swagger in the second half in that game against St. John's. I think that this team finds a way to be able to get it done. I think that this is a Duke team that we were all expecting to be at full force a few weeks ago when they knocked off Michigan and they were really rolling through the ACC. So with Duke, I laid it. I felt like they should have been at some point favorite. So we're going to lay the five to five and a half. Greg, we got first pitches coming in Major League Baseball here in about 45 minutes or so, Rangers Phillies, Twins, Orioles, Royals, Braves, A's and Blue Jays, Pirates and
Mets all happening in that time frame. Any games that you jumped off the pace of you that you wanted about today? I know that you guys were talking about that Cubs over. That is a game that made my right up. I really like that one right now, seeing that right around 9.5. Chote in Managa. He was very lucky to not have in North of four-year allies here. Fielding in a penalty was more than a full point higher than his ERA and the wind is very much blowing out there. So that's one that I'm looking at. I also like the run light here with the Atlanta Braves. They're going to be taking on the Kansas E-Royals. Gran Homes, he does give up about four walks for 9.8. So that's a little bit suspect, but I don't trust in South Lugo whatsoever. Guy at about a four one five-year ERA last season, but that fielding independent about a full point higher for the Royals. Are we going to be able to find a little bit more of this offense at a season? I think so. The Royals last year, I felt like that was a little bit outlier when we sat out of that offense, but for the Atlanta Braves, finally, they're pretty close to fully healthy. Sean Murphy is right now to have a little bit of an injury, but
outside of that, you got Matt Olson, who a few seasons ago had 50 plus home runs. You've got Ronald Kuhnye Jr., who's a guy that's capable of being able to win an MVP, Austin Riley, all those guys. I think that the Atlanta Braves do a great job getting into South Lugo. So find that run line plus one 35 plus one 40 like that over, and I do like the run line as well. Greg, just about 45 seconds or so left here. Any interest in Nolan McLean K-Props? Matt and I are both in in a slightly different ways on the young stud for the Metz against Pittsburgh. What's your take on him in that game? I did not take the K-Props, but I do trust in him in this game. I took the Metz on the run line. I think that they do a great job of showing down the Pirates and Carmen Malodzinski. He gets a start for the Pirates. He was really good coming out of the bullpen, 215 ERA coming out of the pen, 499 ERA as a starter. And you do have to wonder what you're going to be able to get out of the Pirates bullpen after they give up zero runs in the first sight and endings in that game. Yesterday, Luis Arbarr, it's a walkoff home run. So if you like me at the Metz run line in that game,
you're feeling really, really good about things. So didn't get it out of the K-Props, but I like Nolan McLean in this spot. And I do like the Metz on the run line here on Sunday. He is Greg Peterson.
