The New York Giants kicked off the NFL's legal tampering period by agreeing to terms with punter Jordan Stout. This move led them to release their current punter, Jamie Gillan, just hours into the window. No deals can be signed officially until 4 p.m. Eastern time on Wednesday, March 11th. Teams across the league are now reaching out to free agents to lock in interest early. For the Giants, bringing in Stout signals of fresh start at the punter position after ongoing special teams issues. Jamie Gillan joined the Giants in 2022, following coach Brian Dayball from the Cleveland Browns. Over four seasons, he handled 280 punts, averaging 40.5 yards each, but he reached the in-zone 19 times. With the ball no longer with the team and the unit struggling, the release made sense.
