Rape Victim Seeks Justice 37 Years Later

A woman now in her 50s, living abroad, came forward last September to report the attack from when she was just 16. It took place on a Friday evening in December 1987 during a train delay caused by snow. The teenager was heading to a hole when her train stopped at the station, forcing everyone off for two hours. A group of about six men, who claimed to be British Army soldiers with crew cuts and canvas bags, approached her at a nearby pub. They gave her a drink that tasted odd, and soon after, she was assaulted twice, once on the tracks and again on the train, while others in the group watched. Detective Superintendent Sam Blackburn praised the victim's courage for speaking out after decades. He noted how she's carried this trauma most of her life, and stressed that time and distance won't stop the push for justice.
