Rams' Backup QB Concern Amid Stacked Roster

The Los Angeles Rams have checked off several key spots this off season, like cornerback,

safety, and special teams with additions such as Grant Steward, and Joe Cardona.

They also brought back tied in Tyler Higby and a couple others.

Overall, their roster looks pretty stacked heading into next season.

Still, ESPN analyst Bill Barnwell points out one clear weak spot for this contender.

The backup quarterback position.

With Matthew Stafford returning as the Raining League MVP, it's not a huge red flag,

but it stands out amid all their other strengths.

Stafford bounced back strong and healthy last year, after dealing with back issues that

clouded his start.

Right now, fourth year guy Stetson Bennett is the only backup on the roster, but he's mostly

been the third string option so far and might not be.

Before a bigger role just yet, Barnwell suggests resigning Jimmy Garoppolo, who's still available

and served as Stafford's backup the past two seasons.

The coaching staff likes him a lot.

He also mentioned Carson Wentz, who already knows the system from his time with the Rams.

Looking ahead, the team has the 13th overall pick in the draft, and while they're focused

on winning now, they might grab a long-term successor.
