Ragtime Revival: A Timely Musical

Set in the early 20th century, it weaves together the lives of three families from different backgrounds, a white upper class family from New. Rochelle, a black couple from Harlem, and Jewish immigrants on the lower east side. Star Casey Levy plays the role of mother, the matriarch of the white family. Levy says the show's themes of racial injustice, struggles, and unlikely connections feel especially timely today. It highlights how distinct groups can learn from each other and spark important conversations without easy answers. She notes that audiences from all walks of life find something relatable in the story. Levy has been a Broadway staple for the past two decades, originating Elsa and Frozen, and starring in Caroline or Change. That show shut down right before his dress rehearsal and early 2020, due to the pandemic. She and her husband returned to Canada with their young child, then came back to a deserted time square that left her in tears wondering if theater would ever recover.
