In 2013, Ontario-born Gerald Cotten co-founded the cryptocurrency exchange QuadrigaCX. A recent graduate from York University, Cotten had become immersed in the world of Bitcoin, and wanted to fill a much-needed void in the crypto market.

Over the next five years, Cotten's company - Quadriga - would have many ups and downs. During that time, it handled billions of dollars in crypto exchanges, cementing itself as Canada's premiere digital exchange platform... but Cotten's untimely death in December of 2018 would reveal the house of cards he had built...
