QatarEnergy halting LNG production after Iran attack

But I do think the one piece of news that we might remember today, by the time the day is over, is that Qatar has stopped or at least suspending, producing what is its main resource and main export and what it's famous for, liquefied natural gas. That is correct, and this is likely to have major knock-on effects in the region and broadly in the global energy markets. Now liquid natural gas is the lifeblood of the Qatari economy, it is the lifeblood of this country, it is the thing by which they are able to exist, they literally pull it out of the ground, sell it, and that is where the budget to operate the nation comes from. And quite simply, an attack on this facility. We don't know the extent of it yet. We do understand that there has been some level of damage, perhaps, from the statements that are coming out from the government, we can glean that there has been some kind of damage to interrupt any sort of functioning of this major industrial hub.

1:05But an attack of this kind has a practical functional impact, but it really cuts to the core of this country's national capacity to operate. And it cuts to the core of the lifeblood of this country and it will be a major diplomatic problem moving forward.
