0:00It's April 2nd. You're listening to Vancouver News today, AI-powered local news. I'm Corey with the story. That spot at 1864 Westforth Avenue in Kitsilano just went dark. After years as a go-to bakery, Purebred pulled the plug on March 29th, less than two years after opening there. Before Purebred moved in, the place housed pie hole starting back in 2019. That spot wrapped up in March 2024 when their lease got cut short. Folks in the neighborhood filled a pinch, but the team shared some warm words of thanks for all the coffee runs and chats. No hard feelings, just gratitude for the local love. Purebred kicked off in Whistler, got scooped up by co-ho commissary in Vancouver and kept growing. They still run three spots in Vancouver, one at the airport, plus more up in Whistler and Squamish. So this Kitsilano corner takes a breather, but those familiar faces and pastries aren't vanishing. They're just shifting to the next block over.
