Professor Debunks Election Cancellation Rumors, Boosts Civics Education

He says the U.S. Constitution flat out requires house elections every two years and Senate ones every six years so they have to happen no matter. What? While there is some wiggle room on exact dates, history proves elections go on during big crises like wars, tough economies, and even pandemics, the professor stresses that skipping them just is not an option under the law. This expert also runs the Center for Leadership in American Principles at the University. The center just landed a $2.6 million grant from the U.S. Department of Education to boost civics lessons statewide. The money will fund summer seminars for teachers at Jacksonville State, starting with those for kindergarten through 5th grade. Students will lead sessions on history docs and trips to key Alabama sites.
