Private Coalition Outshines State Center in Veteran Support

The main photo from the event featured mostly politicians like Governor Ivy, Speaker Nathaniel Ledbetter, and others, along with the Alabama Power. CEO Notably absent were representatives from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, the Alabama Department of Veterans Affairs, or any veteran service, groups. Just five days later, on February 23rd, the River Regions Veterans Coalition marked its first anniversary with a cake-cutting and Montgomery. This nonprofit, funded entirely by private sources, filled its group photo with over 20 public and private organizations, plus many veterans, their spouses, and supporters from groups like the American Legion and disabled American veterans.
