0:00In Adelaide, it's March 1st, here's what is happening. Matthew John Davie is serving an 18-year sentence for trying to murder his ex-girlfriend by setting her on fire back in 2017. The attack left her with severe lifelong burns. Now, from behind bars, he's facing fresh charges for trying to intimidate her and break a family violence order. The original crime happened when she was 20 years old and he was 34. He got convicted in 2021 after she testified against him. A family violence order bans him from any contact or coming within 100 meters of her. These new accusations paint a picture of ongoing harassment. Police say between July and August this year, while in RISD in prison, he made intimidating calls and pushed her to recant her court evidence even, claiming she caused her own injuries. He also allegedly used family members to reach out to her interstate and made over a dozen prison phonotimes from January to July last year. All. In the order, emotional abuse charges stem from those prison contacts.
