I'm not a savior, I'm like doing the dirty work. Like, body like doing the dirty work. That's how it was, at first, man. I just wanted to, they drive me high, be able to catch passes. I thought I was just be able to catch passes, catch touchdowns, but I just be able to do everything to turn into a complete receiver, trying to put myself in that position to do a dirty work. I just, like I said, I want to be every hour's zero. I don't want to come out. Did you kind of have to like reprogram, kind of like how you do it? Yeah, my top process, my mindset, I had a reprogram, really this year. I tried to block something last year, but I wasn't really fully at the area. So this year, this all season, I got to say I wanted to, I didn't want to come out and run a run and play. It's going to take away from the play action. So I got to say, I just try to do everything I can to be in my role. Was week one kind of a test of that? I just like I'm guessing it's really easy to block when the ball's coming in right there with his pot. Oh, yeah, I feel like a lineman out there, you know what I'm saying? I said, that's not going to be some games, not going to see the ball, but at least we winning.

We got the best office in league, so ain't nothing to complain about. I'm just trying to do my job at the highest I can and help the team win. You feel that way? Like best performance in the league? Yeah, I definitely feel that way. We could have made some adjustments last week. I feel like I had a great game plan. They had a great front seven that stopped the run. So that's just a bump in the road. We're going to get better. I'm glad it happened early in the year. And so we could bounce back from it. So it's only going to make it better. Does anyone that helped you with that mindset? Did you go to anyone for advice about? Not really. I was just looking on film. I just say I want to look weak in a running game. Or when I come out and we run the ball. Just felt like I was kind of weak on myself. So just trying to take it took a step forward. And I got to say I try to try to get stronger to be able to make those blocks first of all. I do the dirty work. Does that something you were trying to do regardless? I know the system trial or tires is it.

But if it was a different system that wasn't really common. Was that something just period? I got to do this better. Yeah, for sure. That was one of my biggest weaknesses that I had to improve on. Like I said, I just want to live a week in a blocking game. I had to run in bags and quarter bags and lie in and count on me. So that's something I definitely wanted to improve. I mean, you kind of... Sorry, dude. You can go ahead and get your own symbol. So you're just talking about how when you got drafted, you were like, you know, on first round or I went to ball, things like that. And you would said last year, you know, that was kind of hard for you in that Tampa game when you didn't get the ball. But you see him kind of like at peace with where you're at now. Like is that all part of that, you know, growth mindset of it's not always going to be mean. But I'm still... Yeah, I got to... It's a team sport. I kind of got caught in trying to catch a area pass last year. Trying to be the number one receiver. But like I said, it was just a growing, I was young.

It just allowed me to grow with experience. And it's not always going to come my way, but as long as I'm winning, I'm doing my job. That's the only thing I can control. So just trying to control their controlables and... Lay everything right out from there. Considering the rivalry with Atlanta and how last year ended, do you feel like there's going to be any carryover from how last year ended this week? They always play as good. It's always a good game. We play against them. We know it's going to come down to the wire. Big player or great player show up in big time games. So we have to have our best player show up and play at that best. And it's going to be a great game.

It's actually really big. I just go like, you know, every since just even getting offered from here on my life, I've just been skyrocketing. I just feel it's big. I mean, I just really want to come here and get there. I'm curious about how you get so high on stage. I think it's pretty good. You started to get a lot of good, but I mean in terms of guys don't want to join you. How do you decide? You're already testing to hard. We're not getting so much for life. We're testing to hard and to make our campers in here. We're getting your rocks on. Get your pants shut. Get your stuff in the frame. Got a great, great seat. What do you want out of a coin back in your box? Like a white guy. You're missing a test to hard and to hard and to hard. This is what I want. We're going to have a later tier with our arms and testing for the back. Go to the front. We're done. Which is not a big extra. This is hard to see. Great.

You can just be open to someone. I hear. I'm going to ask you a question. What's your first opinion? You see me at first. I'm passionate about this. I'm going to go with a guy. I'm going to work here. Thank you, brothers and sisters. Thank you very much. Thank you very much. Thank you very much. Thank you very much. Thank you. Thank you. What's your opinion? This is hard to talk with my sister. I tell you about that. I guess this is what we're talking about. I got a car. I guess you have a car. I'm going to go for a car. First time I met her, we just found it really good. What do you think people in this room? What do you think people in this room? I don't know, we just have to go through the locker room. You know, we just have to go through the locker room. We have to go through the locker room. We're going to go through the locker room.

I really kind of want to say something. I didn't like where you just went to California being out of town today. I didn't like the whole lot of people. I really liked the whole lot of people. I really liked the whole thing. I hope you just love it. You know, just like different people. How in the state of New York, there's a point you are just a couple of. The point is definitely different. So flying here. How do you generate a new generation of recruits where I don't think anybody outside looking in the room questions the strength of your commitment like you're locked in the last eight, you send it over and over. But you're making visits around the country. You see other schools. It's almost a totally different mindset. What's that code to the new one? How do you approach these other visits and how do you communicate with Ohio State about them? The next thing the message is that they're talking about. I think it's a kids' house. They had just left the door. I'm always locked in. I'm still enjoying buses. It's been real. This is only one time. I'm very happy to see them.

Enjoying their school with that set of life. It's going to be really hard trying to give you the flip. So how do you stay in Ohio State? What does it mean you want to take part in this? Something that you had to kind of learn or is there something that you had when you came in here? Something I had to learn with him, Cody, do it like Tommy, something I had to learn. It's just to... What does Peyton bring to the defense? Peyton is a great downhill like thumping type of linebacker. Peyton goes talking to somebody. He's like a secure top in the life. That's what type of person Peyton is. Have you talked to him about that third linebacker role that you had last year and what to expect yet? I haven't really talked to him about it. We just... we all claim we all have a friend. We haven't really talked to him about that. How different is this fall camp knowing the spot that you're going to be at as opposed to a year ago when you had Cody inside this room? What's Aaron's point of view?

What I'm going to say is too much different. I know the role I got coming in last year. I knew the role so I just tacked Eric Daye really the same way. It's technically... It's technically a band very rough. It's technically a band different. Are you weight wise, body wise on that from the year ago? I think I got a lot bigger. I'm like 240. I'm like 244 right now. Last year I played at like 236 to 37. What does it feel like at 244 or a belt? You feel like almost a different machine out there. Yeah, like a... What does it feel like to be running around out there like you are with more than a... more band? I just feel like I'm like... like more downhill, like stronger, like I'm taking all the bloods better. It's bigger. Yeah. Is it daunting? Maybe that's not the correct term. But to think you're going to be playing much more than you did even last year. And you played quite a bit last year instead of... What do you have to get straight in your head about being on the field that much more? I just got to get ready to just play 30 more snaps.

But... How would you describe how much you're looking forward to it from an end? Yeah, I'm looking forward to it. I'm ready for it. My turn. The text is open. It's a rematch. But it's not really two different teams compared to last time you all played and stuff. How has that enhanced this camp for you and this team getting ready for the... where an opener of that magnitude? Yeah, with an opener like that. We've been... we've been emphasizing it a lot. We know we got coming so we know we got to do... We've been prepared for it. Already this is probably work today. I think Riley ready to play right now. He advanced freshman like he ended up here in the book. He studied in like he advanced. And his measurements was crazy. Like he saw it like the saw it like to him. I feel like you said you're ready. You know you're ready. What was that process like during last season? Could you feel yourself becoming more and more ready for whatever the team needed for you? Yeah, because that's pretty much what my role was. Just whenever I was needed I had to step up. So I feel like that's what built me into me being able to say I'm ready for this year.

When you say ready is it more a physical thing? Is it a mental thing? When I say ready I think it's pretty much like everything physically, mentally, mostly. I think I'm there. A different is that feeling this year than last year? That's the most possible thing I've ever had. Oh, asked that one more time. How different is that responsibility? That should be ready. That is the most important call of that. If it was last year you knew you were a role player. I feel like it's a way bigger responsibility with me having to step up this year. But I kind of go about it the same way. Like last year I was attention to what everything I did. I feel like this year it's going to be the same thing. It's probably a little bit more. Somebody who's somebody you can tell you today. And what word? How's anybody worked here? I say, describe my game. I say when you think of me you would think of like a bullet, like a silver bullet.

I don't really a bullet. I'm always on the ball. That's how I like to play a thing. You know what I'm about to say? No, I ain't got to be my nickname. I'm saying that the thing can beat that. Oh yeah, that's the idea. Yeah, that's it. I'm going to ask you a question. How does that fit you? And what are you enjoying about it? Hullaying in that kind of style? I think it fit me because I don't know, I just like the defense. I feel like we got, like you said, we got a lot of freedom. And we're moving around a lot of the terms. It's like, you know, I don't know. I don't really not answer that. That's okay. You can go on your instincts a little bit more, maybe. And it's not so thinking of too much. I don't even know if I say that because there's a lot of thinking going on. But it's like, I just like his defense. I like how the pressure is different. I like what he got going on. What was it sad when CJ left the ring? Yeah. No, I wanted to much sad. I was kind of like happy for him. No, that's what you want.

No, no. No, that's my dog. So yeah, kind of missing a little bit. But yeah, I'm happy for him. Well, don't thank you. Go ahead one last bite for the match. I'm just going to be back. And I've been sitting by the frontlines for many days. I talked a lot about the guys who played some last year, but maybe weren't the starters, and the hunger for that wasn't maybe your national championship you guys would win your own. How much do you feel that is the guy who certainly contributed last year, but we'll be in this bigger role and along some of your classified things? Yeah, I do feel like, yeah, I do feel like, I did win an ad without you saying my role wasn't same as how it's gonna be this year. So yeah, I definitely want to go get another one experienced that, like, feeling and we'll need to be on the field, a lot more place, sorry. Great, well, Bill, thank you very much. Thanks, I'm sorry. Yeah. The new boots in last year, did you feel ever run up against an office of other than a field like, do you feel like you're at a good way from now where you can do things against them no matter what, with an office of awesome people?

If you're trying to, yeah, I mean, this year is kind of different because obviously I'm closer to the ball, but it kind of feels the same. The thing I like being able to place is I like tying the things up and being able to run full speed and being able to hit somebody and catch the month guard. And that's just what I'm able to do now, just on the ball and closer to him. Some of those guys who have talked to you about this kind of stuff, they're asking you to be able to see what sort of stuff you have. We haven't really talked about like a few guys, but he's talking about like, what is the beginning? I got this chance to work with him with my junior at the opening, but that was different because obviously I was playing off-road. Boom, yeah, that's the one we got. They know what Smith will do. Let's see the way that he coaches. I mean, he doesn't give a lot, this is last two weeks. Kind of, what is his style? It's very intentional, but he knows that we're human. So, he knows nobody's gonna be perfect and it's okay to mess up, but the thing is being able to learn from that mistake

and not do it again. How different is this? How different is your future? What's up? How different is your future? It's different, but like I said, I've just been enjoying the ride. I like riding on now, so I'm just gonna grow at this fight and get to where I want to go. Imagine that we're in the process. 100%. 100%. It's my set. No, it's very hard. We're just looking at our 2020 hoop class. We've got a lot of guys, now we're probably gonna have like five or six guys here, exactly. So being able to just stick it through and just, no. I feel like me staying here, each year, I feel like I was telling this thing. Because yeah, it was opportunity to transfer, but I just kept telling my God, just stay. Let his will be done, just let his will, no. What's the set to do with what you like when you know you may not make him his position change and you got to know him.

You know, I try to, every little drill that we do, I try to make sure I'm doing it to the team. I don't like to mess up, and that's why you see me after practice working with Coach Johnson or Coach Patricia because of the fact I know it's very urgent, but I still feel like I have time. I'm just only the spring. You have 158 days probably to be played. You can wrap it there throughout December, obviously. What exactly did you start to make that transition though? And when you heard they were hiring and I'm Patricia, what was going on here at home? Obviously in December it was different because we had Coach Knows here and Coach Knows or some of what, he was telling me different ways he was going to use me with the Jagged and where he was going to have me line up and things like that. Coach Day, what he was telling me was, it was going to bring in different coach and just, you know, there'll just be a specific coach just for the position I was playing, just that way it could just be easier on everybody. And that probably was just going to be Coach Knows

because obviously it's his decency, but with Coach Patricia coming in, I feel like it's a lot easier on everybody because of the fact, like I said, his experience and everything that we're doing now, it just feels like everybody can just play fast you to beat themselves. What was your last question? 158 days, what was he going to know? We talk about every day. Yeah, Coach Day brings it up every day. It says the fact we got to, like, yeah, we have one good day today, but we do have to stack day on top of day on top of day because of the fact that we played sex and sex is just in the playoffs, you know, they didn't know it was so much easier. You know that they're probably in the same mindset as we are right now because they lost a lot of starters, but it still doesn't mean that. I mean, see guys like Michael Parsons a little harder, they started their career trying back with the move to the edge. How much does that inspire you to see what kind of success does that have to do with that? No, I feel like watching those guys, I feel like you can see like it helped them the longer, especially with the blue, especially with the blue, the blue last year because of the fact it was the first year on a lot of scrimmage, but I'm, you know,

obviously I watch those guys, I watch other guys, but I'm on the way. Trabia, what's it to you about the loss of being that's going into this season for you? You scamp boxers. I mean, it doesn't take you having really, so. I'm going to see you have the lead right now. I lost your seat. Does it seem like it's a big, big blow? I mean, how would you describe it? I mean, I guess you just got to learn everything slowly. Of course, there's a lot to learn, but I got a lot of hope. You guys had a very unique experience all the early and early easy got a chance to go to, you know, semi-final. Some of you went to the Rose Bowl, you guys went to the Cotton Bowl National Championship game. What was that like? What was that like? How much did you think that helped you? Oh, that was incredible. You just see how other leaders led in that position and just seeing what they did and how they prepared. That's going to help a lot with everybody. What was the highlight of that time, other than winning the National Championship itself? Was there something that stands out to you? Oh, just being able to travel and get to meet everybody, meet all the players, everybody at one in the adding,

and meet all the early and earlys that early. It's been a most difficult part of making the transition from high to the blue. What has been the hardest part? I was really just living on your own. You got to be independent. That's pretty much it, though. Do you feel uncomfortable on that? Are you still trying to get on the South? That's probably the same. I mean, of course, it's adjustment, but I'm getting this for you. How long do you think you're going to be able to do it? I'm going to say, I'm going to be a good journey. Yes, your money is 100%. Could you have been a good journey saying that? I want to be a good journey. It's hard to hold a miss on a good journey. I mean, of course, it's hard to miss on seeing you here. Last year, I was in my best friend's place. What did you do? I think you did my hand right? It was an intervial, really. Yeah. I'm sorry, but I'm sorry, but how did you get your answer in your phone? Oh, really? It was as I was a baby in my dad's.

I called him my dad and my master's phone. I was like, I was. Like, once I was born. Like, once I was born. OK. For every. Why did they make that? My dad looked up to me and I'm a junior. So, I was working here. Here. I think you should be your first name for the part, right? Yeah. OK, so you could wear eight, too. You know, I'm not sure I'm turning four. Yeah. Yeah, you got two choices. OK. It's a desire that can be addicted for people. I think I fell into that, no way, younger age, but super good. That's not what I am. So, do you get it? I watched the last time I started a land band on the plan. I downloaded it. It's a great show. What do you think of that? A little hard, but I don't know that. His wife seems like a bipolar.

I don't know how he handles it. It's a good show, but I like it. Because he always seems to be coming on the come-up. And all that's been all right. So, I'm excited to see how it goes. Where did you get it, Jerry? Where did you get it, Jerry? Oh, I thought you'd been a good job. I was surprised. I honestly didn't seem like you knew what he was doing. He was so cool. This was really cool. So, any important question? You say you hit your mom in the salary. You guess when it all just mama get a pay raise or? I don't know what to talk about that. This year's, have a meeting or something. The good thing? I'll figure it out. I'll talk to everybody. Everybody seems to have a meeting or a better term. People. I'm trying to help you. As I have the people here, I'm trying to find my manager. Yeah, well, I mean, first off, I think I'd be doing this service to my teammates. You know, we even think about what's next.

This is an overview. And that's another thing I got to tell me. So much grew is just being present in every single moment that I'm in. You know, not looking too far ahead because I'm tripping on what's right in front of me. So, again, that's too soft. We should have a thank you for meeting if you think about what's next to me. Did you or you at least were wearing the doing a lot of speculation out there that people are going to throw a huge number and the two are going to go in the portal. It's kind of a decision. I mean, right now, I'm just not worried about all that stuff. I mean, people can say all they want to say, but, you know, I'm just focused on. I'm focused on Friday. Nervous? I mean, I still get nervous for sure, but I just don't think. I think I do a couple of just understanding that. That moment, whatever moment it is that I'm nervous about, it doesn't define who I am as a person.

And it doesn't define who I am and God's eyes. And understanding and knowing that has just kind of put like this force field of peace around me that I think it allows me to be able to be calm in certain situations, but it doesn't. I still get nervous. What, what, what, what, what? I mean, I just love the game so much. And if you don't get nervous or a little bit of work, because I don't think you have that same love. I mean, I've got butterflies since, you know, going into football games since I was, you know, five, six years old. So I don't know what that feels. I didn't, I don't know. You know, football just doesn't mean as much as it did to me back then. I want it to always mean that much. I've been told, but I think it comes from the most real estate plan in the world. It's going to be a high estate plan.

I'm really playing as much. So I just wanted to get like more experience under my belt. So I can bring younger guys with me because I've been through a lot. One of those younger guys, we're seeing it out there. It's the first time I've heard all these last years. What have you seen from Will? Because I kind of felt like last year, we all forgot about him because he was hurt. Now he's running, you know, almost a second man off the high. What have you seen from the coach? Well, it was a workhorse. He, he go stay quiet. He go work hard. And that's what I love about him. He focuses. He don't really talk much. He's going to get the job done. Do a job right. He rarely has any mistakes. So what, what would be a successful season? A national championship. A ring. When all the games we don't want to lose anything, we got a mindset that we can't be beat. And we just got to go show it. That mindset different. It seems like you guys expect a national championship every year. This year even more so. You guys have all come back for this. You guys have all decided like enough as a lot. Does that, does it keep feeling different?

Or is it not really any difference? It's just the same work. It's definitely a difference. Everyone working harder. We noticed our last run. And we, most of us don't have any years after this. So we got to go, go bigger, go home, then. We're not trying to go home. So it's finished big. We know what you guys think of Michigan. But when you look at what they did, they won the national championship. And you guys took them down to the final minute. Right? You know what I mean? You were right there. Something goes a little different. You guys could have won that game against them. Does that tell you anything about like that, hey, you guys want to win a national championship? But you played to the 59th minute with the team that won the national championship last year. Like you're that close. That's how I'm saying. We just like work harder. That's kind of a coach makes a saying, you know, nobody cares. It's just work harder. Like those, you know, when we played Georgia, it's the same thing. Last, last play, you know, they went on the win in 90. So we just got to get over that hump at the end of the season. I think we'll be fine. How frustrating is that? You're that close against the last two national titles.

Of course, as you know, it's frustrating. But you can't change the outcome. You can't really dwell on it. You just got to, you know, come back and work harder. Do things better than you did last year and hopefully the outcome will change. Is that as you get older, you kind of learn. I thought I was working hard and you always find out there's a little more than you could have been doing. Yeah, definitely. I mean, that's how that's what growing up is basically in college. I thought, freshman year, I was working as hard as I could. But now I look back at it. I really wasn't working hard at all compared to what I'm doing now. So just to learn anything. What do you need it to be to be your best? It is at 75. 80, 85. I mean, I can, it's all on me. I think it's a little higher. I was just trying to be funny. But I mean, it's all on me. I just got to run harder in shape. It's been a thing. The idea of a potential is 16 or 17 or 17. I think I definitely can last.

I was just, you know, we got to get the young guys that come along with us. We can't play 50 snaps again. That's just too much on our bodies. Just everybody's like, online, D line. We got to get those younger guys to play, you know, get that pieces on the D line and the online and everywhere else. So we can last that long. Speaking of that, we're not going to be talking about that. Did you like playing that new snap to the end? I don't know if any of us were really expected to be playing that next. Yeah, I did. Unless we were like winning by like a lot. I thought like, there are no mom and Zina, I can go sit down or something. But we're playing them big games, like, you know, Notre Dame, too, or North, those kind of games. Of course, I want to be, because I know I can contribute. And I won't want to put that on anyone else when I know I can get the chance. But I'm not going to be able to play that. And I won't want to put that on anyone else when I know I can get the job done. What stands out about Kaden McDonald is he got the key. You guys in a second? Oh, yeah, definitely. K-Mac is a K-Mac animal. You haven't really seen it yet, but in practice, he shows all the time.

He's just, he's growing right now. He has to work at things. He just has to get, you know, in the playbook and things like that. You guys are about the exact same size. Listen, you're both listening to 630, you're 327, he's 326. Yeah, I kind of look at him like my junior, but you know, K-Mac, he's going to be a great player. He's got to develop more and get into playbook. So really a lot on you, older guys, there's that large group of young guys. And then there's the seniors in the back. Is that part of your task for this year to bring those guys along as well? Yeah, definitely. We got to be leaders. Like I said, we got to have them play this year. We can't just play all the snaps. They got to get in there and get some work. And we got to get them right during the all season. So they can play. And I just played them when I like contribute, like make plays, tackle a sex. It's a very good experience. It seems like these guys get big. Each person in class is a bigger player. Do those guys kind of, does it kind of why you want to solve the first? Yeah, they're definitely some big dudes. And they all work hard.

I've only seen much of some of the day too when I'm not passing on. But throughout the workouts, they've been working hard, you know, they're determined. I just say that. And it looks like they're ready to work with me. How important this notes feels like. There's a lot of great defenses that you have big athletic defensive tactics who can eat up space and also move, you know, right? That is that. Is that an inquire maybe from a great defense? To have guys like you that have some faults, but also a great team. I think that is definitely. I think if you look at the last couple of national championship winners, like team up north, they got two good detacled, two athletic detacles. Look at Georgia, two athletic detacles. I think that's definitely neat if you want to go on that big run and beat those big teams. If you think about this, they want to find what defense attack is like. What's Georgia? Jordan Davis and Daniel Carter. What's Michigan? It's Chris Jenkins. Couple more questions. You might as well find out how.

I mean, you understand it because you play it. But I feel like some time I don't know. Are people realizing how important defense tackles are? A little bit more than they used to? I think so. I think they're starting to develop more and more of these like freakiest detacles. Yeah. Like in the combine, just now you see in like those guys, they're moving four to four seven eights and things like that. So we'll see. And when you think about those freakish attacks, how do you think you fit into that. All of that kind of player. You watch that and say, yeah, that's me. I think I'm top notch when it comes to detacles, but I don't want to you know, get a big head. But you know, watch it come on. I watch it do the drills. I have a tape here. You're like, you're looking like my film. So I think I'm up there with all those guys. Tyler, can you become like an artist? I think it comes in the bad end of passes. The figure wags can be claimed. I mean, when you're going to spring practice, you're not doing it much. I'll let another one. That's strong. How do you work on that? Do you have like a goal? I don't remember how much you have.

You have a goal in mind. How many people want to have? I mean, as many as I can have, I think I have more than that. But I think they've counted. I think they've counted some of them. And some of them were like just listed. So, but I think we work on drills matching the hand. I think that's goes big. And what we do is a D line, you know, just affecting the quarterback is. Any way you can is just great for the defense. You know, just that little thing covered his eye, you know, he might throw it. A little bit to the left to our player. So, it's something that you really, really have to work on. You can do that. What do you think? It's a theory that's one of the things that you've maybe worked on the most. You've got to get your time here because there are a few guys that I've seen. Like, oh, that pastor just took a few takes to do that. We don't have that. It's a style of, kind of, kind of expected. I think I just have like a, like, an eye for the ball, kind of. I kind of just look at the quarterback and just, I see him like load up. I just try to get in his ways. And sometimes he throws it to me. I don't know. I'm your opponent. If you want to be a high state quarterback, skip. You can get back down passes. I mean, they get frustrated by, you know, we're a team, you know, we're just getting better.

I've got you a lot of different backs, man. They just learn and grow for them. You've got to pick your top three backs. You've got to go right now. One, two, three. I don't really have a top three, but I'll give you one. I would say, say, quan, Gibbs. And I like McCaffrey. Auto, he was injured this year. I like McCaffrey. Best back in this drive. I lead out of the yard. That's y'all decision. Playing with Will Howard. What I'm going to remember most. We're a Howard, man. He's just such a great leader. Such a great leader, man. It's just like in moments where, you know, usually a lot of players, they fold, man. He was just always calm and relaxed, man. And he just the leader that he was, man. That's one thing I'm going to remember about him. Yeah, he's shoot. He's going to be really good, man.

He's on Coach Lock. I think he got the transfer in as well from West Virginia. Just that one, two punch with them both as well. They're going to be really good backs. And so James people's, man, he's smart. The way that he goes about his business, man. He's mature. And so man, he's growing, you know, just as a person in as a player. And so man, yeah, definitely Ohio State, you know, that running back room is in great hands. I was right there, like I'm looking at the UFC spot and foot on this. I'm the race and personality and the approach of the battle against all the same way. Yeah. Coach, Coach Hartline, man. He's full of energy, man. And he's creative as well, you know. I'm just learning from him as well, you know. I'm trying to run more outside the backfield. It was being able to learn from Coach Hartline. And so he's definitely creative at what he does. And he brings a lot of energy to the team as well. And so I think they'll do really good. Straight line is a way to play on cards. That's what the question is. Just intensity, man. And since he had the playoffs, every game, man, it's like the intensity got, you know, higher and higher.

And so, you know, being able, I know in the lead, it's the same thing. Even if it's not the playoffs, just every, every game and intensity, it keeps getting higher and higher. And so, yeah, you just, I know you got to bring it, you know, each and every day and come in and work. And just like Ohio State, you know, I definitely feel like Ohio State. They definitely do a good job of preparing us for that. You know, I just remember even before going through this process, I'll talk to a lot of players before that. And they told me a lot of just about how much Ohio State prepared them, you know, for the NFL. And so, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I know I took a couple days off after the national championship. And then, shoot, right after that, I'm writing Sample Florida and I'm right to it. And so, yeah, I think while I trained, I trained at Yo Merch performance. I think it's called the House of Athlete or the Compound now. They did a good job, man. They're just bringing us in and the way they went about training us, man, they did a really good job.

I mean, that would be cool, you know? The Bucking Nears. No, I haven't. The Reeling of the City in Tampa. Tampa, Tampa, nice. It's a nice city, man. Really nice. The 40, the broad and the vert. You've been on the races and awesome blockers. Do you speak to your mentality of like when you've got a linebacker or the shafts, you're bigger than you when you're in ready to swear a lot of those things? Yeah. Yeah. No, man. It's really all about technique. And then, it's about mindset as well. And so, all my say, you know, it's for the love of my brother. It's for the love of Will Howard. It's for the love of the receivers who I got on the perimeter. Just making sure, you know, first of all, my quarterback doesn't get sacked. And I tell Will, I think it was before the first game. I was like, I got your brother. It's, I said, man, I'm not going to let you get hit, you know? And so, I don't know if I gave up a sack. I'm not sure that. But I know if I did, I haven't given up too many. And so, man, it's for the love of my brother's, though, man, making sure the ball get in their hands,

you know, the guys on the outside and making sure they get fed. You had to hit the practice field later today. What is something you've been working on right now? In my game. You can't really work on this, you know, in all season, I feel like it's more so, you know, you got to put the pads on. You got to go through some inside run, you know, maybe. It's really just continuing to run through tackles. And so, that's, I feel like that's one of the areas in my game. You know, I want to continue to get better. I feel like I did a good job of that my senior year. And so, I just want to continue to build on that. Yes, I did. Yes, I did. So, people say you look like a little more out there. You get back to your senior year. You said you got a little bit more out there. I did meet with New Orleans as well. I never got that comparison. Actually, I know I have a Camera. Sure, yeah, man, I have a Camera. Great, great back, man. Just what he does and those 101 matchups, he's dangerous, man. And he's so smooth. He's so smooth as well. I'm not going to lie. He's smooth. So, I hit your favorite offence. Yeah.

You know, I hit the other one. Yeah. Inside zone from stack, being able to hit that thing downhill. And I'll say the next one is probably just an option route out of the backfield. You know, a man and man coverage. You're getting on that linebacker. And so. Yeah. I say the man, the biggest thing is the way that he carries himself, man. And the way that man, he approaches the game. He comes in with the mindset, you know, he's going to work every single week. You know, every practice, you know, he's working hard. You know, even shoot him. I don't know. Every good. I think he had a, every game was a good game for him, man. And so. But still, man, he always has the mentality to mindset that, you know, he's going to come in each and every day. He's going to continue to work and get better, man. And so, he's definitely, man. He's going to be a special player, man. He really is. I think he looks like it's all in your life. Yeah. I'm going to start getting into the lead out of some entries.

I think it's a massive champion. We're back on it. What do you want to stand down? Man, a lot of ups and downs, man. It's just. I think it's not going to be a lot of ups and downs. I think it's going to be a lot of ups and downs. I think it's going to be a lot of ups and downs. Man, it's just. How you respond to adversity? And I feel like that's something that God has definitely helped me to do better. Is this, um, not have something to lean on now? You know, I remember before I met him, you know, going through those adversity, I had nothing to run to. You know, you can run to people, but they still can't. It's not too much. They can't truly help you. You know, I feel like, you know, I feel like the only person that can truly help you is your relationship with Jesus Christ. And so, um, being able to lean on him, you know, he gives you, in those moments, where it's tough, you know, where it's low. And when you're behind the scenes and you're going through things that people don't know about, um, he gives you, he gives you that peace and comfort, you know, um, even in those moments, man, where it's so hard that you can't, you can't explain. It's like, man, I'm going through this, but like, how am I still filled with this internal joy? You know, how do I have so much peace in this situation? And so that's something that only Jesus Christ can give you.

And so, you know, the back of the firm, uh, he has some power in judgment. Which aspect can you do those other individuals who want to follow the game from being around power to him? Um, man, those guys have such a great mentality, man. Um, I just really love their mentality, especially, um, Q as well, you know, I talked about Will Howard, his leadership, but Quincham mentality, man. Um, that boy just, yeah, that boy just gifted, you know, you see, you know, sometimes he put in a situation where he literally doesn't know how to do it. And that's the situation where you look like, you know, he should have a negative five yards. And then as soon as you know it, you know, he, the running through somebody, still forming somebody and shooting us again to 10. And so, yeah, man, I think it's just like, he's just gifted, man, too, beyond it. He's just gifted, you know, he's, he's a big back. You know, he's strong and so, um, you know, he's, he's able to do, he's able to do those things.

So, um, yeah, man, it's definitely, you know, I look at his game and I want to, you know, at the same time, I want to learn from Quincham. You know, I want to look at his game and it's like, man, where, where can I get better at as well? You know, that's the type of player I am. I'm always looking to get better, man. I'm always looking to grow as a player. What's your last, uh, Julian Sand? Julian Sand. Oh, yeah, he's going to be a great, but he's going to be a great quarterback, man. He's so, so accurate. And so, um, he's definitely, man, I know Coach Dez definitely going to get him right. Just, you know, um, container, grow as a leader, container, grow as a player. And so, he's going to be really good for our state. Thanks for the light, I'm looking to start. Uh, he's, I know just the quarterback position. Um, I feel like, you know, the quarterbacks in the past, they've, they've definitely been vocal. And so, I feel like that's something that they're definitely going to, um, ask Julian Sand as well. It's to be that vocal leader and lead, um, and lead the offense and lead the team. Thanks, guys. Thanks, guys. Thanks, guys. I'm going to be a great player. I'm going to be a great player. Shoot, man. He has, he has a build like JK Dobbins. And, um, I kind of see them, you know, similar, similarities in their game as well.

And I know JK Dobbins, he was a great running back. Um, I feel like he's not talked about his, no, um, a lot, but man, his career here, you watch his highlights is, is great. I remember, um, before I recruit, before I committed here, I remember watching JK Dobbins highlights like every, every, um, one of his years here, like four or five times. And so, man, he was such a great back. And, um, I feel like, you know, um, when I see JK Dobbins, when I see, um, James people, I see similarities to both of their games. I feel like they play the same. And so, I appreciate you all. Yeah, I'll be going. This.

This. This.

All I got coming in, last, I knew the road. So I just tacked every day, really the same way. It's taking a van very rough, physically different. Are you weight wise, body wise on that from the year? Um, I think I got a lot bigger. I'm like 240, you know, like 244 right now. Last year, I played at like 236 to 37. So what does it feel like at 244 or better? You feel like an almost a different machine out there. Like, what does it feel like to be running around out there like you are, but with more, uh, more back. I just feel like I'm like, like, like, more downhill, like stronger. Like I'm taking all the bloods better. It's bigger. No. Is it daunting? Uh, maybe that's not the correct term, but to think you're going to be playing much more than you did even last year. And you played quite a bit last year and stuff. What do you have to get straight in your head about being on the field that much more? Just got to get ready to just play 30 more snaps.

So, but are you, are you, how would you describe how much you're looking forward to it from an age standpoint? Yeah, I'm looking forward to it. I'm ready for it. I'm ready for it. The text is open. It's a rematch. So it's big, but it's not really two different teams compared to the last time you all played and stuff. How has that enhanced this camp for you and this team getting ready for the, we're an opener of that magnitude? Yeah, we're an opener like that. Um, we've been emphasizing it a lot. We know we got coming. So we know we got to do. We've been prepared for it. Already just probably with today. I think Riley ready to play right now. He advanced freshman like he in the, he in the book. He stood in like he advanced and his measurements crazy like he saw like the side line to. Orbel, you said you're ready. I know you're ready. What was that process like during last season? Could you feel yourself becoming more and more ready? Yeah, because that's pretty much what my role was. Just whenever I was needed, I had to step up. So I feel like that's what built me into me being able to say I'm ready for this year.

When you say ready, is it more a physical thing? Is it a mental thing? When I say ready, I think it's pretty much like everything physically, mentally, mostly. I think I'm there. A different is that he won this year. Dan Lai. That's the last question that happened. Asked one more time. I feel like it's a way bigger responsibility with me having to step up this year. But I kind of go about it the same way. Like last year, I was attention over everything I did. I feel like this year is going to be the same thing. It's probably a little bit more. It won't work. How's everybody working? I say, describe my game. I say, like when you think of me, you would think of like a bully, like a silver bullet.

I don't really a bully. I'm always on the ball. That's how I like to play a thing. You know what I'm worried about? No, I ain't got to be my nickname, but. I'm saying that the big thing to be. Oh, yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, that's like. A couple more questions for Patricia's style and how it's free. I mean, how does that fit you? And what are you enjoying about bullying in that kind of style? I think it fit me because. I don't know, I just like the defense. I feel like we got, like you said, we got a lot of freedom and we're moving around a lot. A lot of the terms is like, you know, I don't know. I don't really not answer that. That's okay. You can go on your instincts a little bit more, maybe. And it's not so thinking of too much. I don't even know if I say that because there's a lot of thinking going on, but it's like. I just like his deep. I like her. Patricia Diffies. I like what you got going on. That was sad when she gave up. Uh, now I wanted to my sad. I was kind of like happy for me. Yeah, that's what you want.

No, no. No, that's my dog. I'm not going to say it. Kind of missing a little bit, but yeah, I'm happy for him. Well, don't thank you. Go ahead one last but coach days talked a lot about the guys who played some last year, but maybe weren't the starters and the hunger for that wasn't maybe your national championship you guys will win your own. Yeah. How much do you feel that is a guy who certainly contributed last year, but will be in this bigger role and I wanted to sum your your classmates? Yeah, I do feel like, um, yeah, I do feel like I did win a national national national championship. I don't know how you're like, but like you said, my role wasn't same as how's my beaters here. So yeah, I definitely want to want to go get another one experienced that like feeling with me be on the field, a lot more place. Great. Oh, Belle, thank you very much. I'm sure you've been using you, you know, in that almost safe, you row of stuff. How much is it grown that you can put your finger on? Yeah, I was growing immensely. I mean, uh, Caleb, he makes a lot of checks. Latham makes a lot of checks. Uh, I listen to them. Uh, whatever they need. If I need to cover somebody out, I'll go cover anybody.

If they need me to do run support, I'll do run support. And it's really, uh, what Caleb does, what we do and Latham, it just goes back to the coach G's preparation. Um, and everyone's preparation to give us more flexibility. And it doesn't matter who's in those positions. And we can all play every position, whether it's covering somebody or running, running and tackling. Yeah, did you feel like that was the case before the Oregon game? You're saying what I'm saying? I mean, is that something that's been added? Uh, it just, you know, rely on a little bit more. Go ahead. Yeah, it did. I've probably been a broska game, a meaghan and more safety reps. And we had a five week to prepare. So I really learned to play book a lot more, even though I knew the playbook, I learned a lot more. Mount like in debt, you know, so really just after the Oregon game, it helped me a lot to go back to safety. Go go to nickel everywhere. Uh, you guys had a lot of issues of giving up big plays in the passing game of the first game against Oregon. What do you feel like you guys need to do better this time around to make sure that doesn't happen?

Uh, just the same, same mindset. We got to challenge these receivers. You know, every dog has their day. Maybe some people didn't have their day that, that game, but, um, we'll look out there and hopefully change the narrative. And we still play with the same confidence, same technique and, you know, Bill Rebellion, what's the problem with this batch? And Denzel obviously had a tough game and that one. What have you seen from him and how he's responded? Do you get a sense of from him? How, how he is for this rematch? Oh, yeah, he's super stoked for this rematch. Um, his preparation has been very good. Um, he's always been preparing, you know, it didn't go the way he wanted to go that game, but he just always had, had his confidence. And we're going to see a big game out of him this week. And, you know, I know you guys wanted to play them in anapolis. But the fact that you get to play them at the Rose Bowl, I mean, get a second chance and people have said you don't get that very often. How determined are you guys to take advantage of it?

We're super, super determined. We watched film. I mean, we've lost a lot of film. The first time we played them, now we've got another six games that they played up film to watch. And it's just, they've grown a lot as a team, same as us. We've grown a lot. We're not the same team. We were when we played them week one or weeks, six or whatever. But now we're out there and going to play fast, physical and everything like that. All right, Jordan, we're going to jump to the Zoom question here from Joey Kaufman. Columbus Dispatch. My bad, not you Joey. Cameron T. Robinson, the athletic. Hey, Jordan, you've moved around a lot in the second day in your career and now kind of getting some many more safety reps. What is it like at this point when Walt or Coach Mills comes to you and asks you to do some else? And just how much can you lean on the experiences you've had moving around when you're trying to learn something new in the middle of the season? It means a lot. We always talk about what this is being on selfish, whether that's making plays or not making plays or doing your job so another person can make plays.

That's kind of what we pride ourselves on. And it's just fun. We move around different positions. I'm always up for a new challenge and a lot of people in the country can't do that. I just hold myself to that standard where I can play any position and excel at it. Okay, and anybody else needs a question? Let me know. But otherwise we're going to go to Austin more of the podcast. Jordan, when you were talking about watching film Oregon, which one do you think is more valuable to you watching that against yourself? Seven games ago, even if you've changed or the ensuing six games for Oregon, which one do you put more stock in? Kind of both. For me, I kind of watch what I did, things I did well, things I didn't do too well against them. And their team is changing, that life, their scheme has changed. Some players have been out those stretch of games. So I really watched the past game we played and I know they're going to go back to some of the stuff that they liked, of course. And different games like Penn State, maybe Illinois, they run a lot of men.

So just watching stuff like that, every game matters. So yeah. Jordan, thank you very much. Thank you. I really plan as much. So I just wanted to get more experience under my belt. So I can bring younger guys with me because I've been through a lot of these. One of those younger guys, we're seeing it out here. It's the first time I've heard all of those last years. What have you seen from Will? I've kind of felt like last year, we all forgot about him because he was hurt. Now he's running almost a second man out behind you and Ty. What have you seen from that? Will is a workhorse. He goes, stay quiet. He's going to work hard. And that's all I love about him. He focuses. He don't really talk much. He's going to get the job done. Do a job right. He rarely has any mistakes. What would be his successful season? A national championship. A ring. When all the games we don't want to lose anything, we got a mindset that we can't be beat. And we just got to go show it. It's like, you guys expect a national championship every year, this year even more so.

You guys all come back for this. You guys have all decided that that was an option. Does that keep you feeling different? Or is there probably any difference? It's just the same work. It's definitely a difference. Everyone working harder. We noticed our last run. Most of us don't have any years after this. So we got to go bigger, go home, and we're not trying to go home. Finish big. We know what you guys think of Michigan. But when you look at what they did, they won the national championship. And you guys took them down to the final minute. You know what I mean? I mean, you were right there. Something goes a little different. You guys could have won that game against them. Does that tell you anything about like that, hey, you guys want to win a national championship? But you played to the 59th minute with the team that won the national championship. Last year, you're like, you're that close. So I'm saying, we just like work harder.

Is that as you get older, you can learn. I thought I was working harder than you always find out there's a little more than you could have been doing. Yeah, definitely. I mean, that's how that's what growing up is basically in college. I thought, freshman year, I was working as hard as I could. But now I look back at it. I really wasn't working hard at all compared to what I'm doing now. So just to learn anything. What do you need it to be to be your best? Uh, 80, 85. I mean, I can, it's all on me. I just, I think it's a little higher. I was just trying to be funny, but I mean, it's all on me. I just got to run harder in shape. It's been a thing.

The idea of potentially 16 or 17 or 17 years. I've got that idea. Does it make you nervous about, can you last that long? Where are you? I think I can tell that out there. I think I definitely can last. I was just, you know, we got to get the young guys to come along with it. We can't play 50 snaps again. That's just too much on our bodies. Uh, just everybody's like, oh, line, D line. We got to get those younger guys to play. You know, get that pieces on the D line and all line and everywhere else. So we can last that long. Speaking of that, I'm like playing a golf and a snap. Did you like playing that many snaps again last year? I don't know. I don't know if any of us were really expected to play that next. Uh, yeah, I did. Unless we were like winning by like a lot. Uh, I thought like, there are no moments you know, I can go sit down or something. But we're playing them big games like, you know, Notre Dame too, or North, those kind of games. Of course, I want to be, because I know I can contribute. And I won't want to put that on anyone else when I know I get the job done. What stands out about Kaden McDonald? Is he guy that you guys are the second?

Oh, yeah, definitely. K-Mac is a K-Mac animal. Y'all, you haven't really seen it yet, but in practice, he shows all the time. He's just, he's grown right now. He has to work at the, he just has to get, you know, in the playbook and things like that. You guys are about the exact same size. Listen, you're both listening to 630, you're 327, he's 326. Yeah, I kind of look at him like my junior, but you know, K-Mac, he's going to be a great player. He's got to develop more and get into playbook. So really a lot on you older guys, there's that large group of young guys, and then there's the seniors in your back. Is that part of your task for this year to bring those guys along as well? Yeah, definitely. We got to be leaders. Like I said, we got to have them play this year. We can't just play all the snaps. They got to get in there and get some work. And we got to get them right during the all season. So they can play and not just play, they want to like contribute, like make plays, tackle, and sex. What's the state that we work on especially? It seems like these guys get bigger each in the first-minute class because they're bigger or bigger.

Do those guys kind of, does it kind of allow you to solve the first? Yeah, they're definitely some big dudes. And they all work hard. I've only seen much of some of the day too when I'm not passing on. But throughout the workouts, they've been working hard, you know, they're determined. And it looks like they're ready to work with me. How important this notes feel? It feels like there's a lot of great defenses that you have big athletic defense attacks who can eat up space, but also move, you know, right? That is that. Is that inquiring maybe for great defense to have guys like you that have some balls, but also a great feat? I think that is definitely, I think if you look at the last couple of national championship winners, like Team up North, they got two good, two athletic detacles. Look at Georgia, two athletic detacles. I think that's definitely need if you want to go on that big run and beat those big teams. If you think about this, they're going to fight by the defense attack. What's Georgia's, Jordan Davis and DL Carter, what's Michigan? It's Chris Jenkins.

Tell them more questions. How do you understand this? I feel like some time I don't know, are people realizing how important defense tackles are? A little bit more than they used to? I think there's started to develop more and more of these freaky detacles. In the combine, you see in those guys, they're moving four to seven, eights and things like that. When you think about those freaky shots, how do you think you fit into that ball of that kind of player? You watch that and say, yeah, that's me. Definitely, I think I'm top-notch when it comes to detacles, but I don't want to get a big head, but I watch it come on. I watch it through the drills. I have a tape here, you're looking at my film. I think I'm up there with all those times. Do you become like a artist who comes to the batting up passes? I think your legs can't be clean. When you're going to bring practice, you're not doing as much a weapon on the left hand. How do you work on that?

Do you have a goal? I don't remember how much you had last year. You have a goal in mind. How many people do you want to have? I mean, as many as I can have, I think I have more than that. I think they've counted some of them. And some of them were just listed. But I think we work on drills matching the hand. I think that's, uh, goes big. And, uh, what we do is a D line, you know, just affecting the quarterfegges. Any way you can is just great for the defense, you know, just that little thing covered his eye, you know, he might throw it. A little bit to the left to our players. So, so it's something that you really, really have to work on. You just have to work on it. It's a theory that's one of the things that you've maybe worked on the most. You can turn your time here because there are a few guys that I've seen. Oh, that pass through the back of the down. We don't have to ask this. We kind of kind of expected for the defense. I think I just have like, uh, like, uh, eye for the ball comment. I kind of just look at the quarterback and just, I see him, I load up. I just try to get in his ways. And sometimes he's throws it to me. I'm irritated if you like to be a high state quarterback.

I'm getting a bad dog pass. I mean, they get frustrated, but you know, we're a team, you know, we're just getting better. I've got a lot of, a lot of different backs, man. And just learn to grow for them. You got to pick your top three backs. You got to go right now. Oh, I don't really have a top three, but I'll give you, I'll give you one. I would say, say, Juan Gibbs and I like McCaffrey. Although he was injured this year. I like McCaffrey. Who's the best back in this drive? Best back in this drive. I'm going to let that out of the yard. That's y'all decision. Playing well, Howard. What I'm going to remember most. We're a Howard, man. He's just such a great leader, man. It's just like in moments where, you know, usually a lot of players, they fold, man. He was just always calm and relaxed, man. He just the leader that he was, man. That's one thing I'm going to remember about him.

Yeah, he's, he's going to be really good, man. Coach Locke, I think he got the transfer in as well from West Virginia. Just that one two punch with them both as well. They're going to be really good backs. And so James people's, man, he's smart. The way that he goes about his business, man, he's mature. And so, man, he's growing, you know, just as a person and as a player. And so, man, yeah, definitely Ohio State, you know, that running back room is in great hands. I was right there looking at the UFC spotting for the top of the race, and he was inality. And it was close. I'll keep that open. It's all the same way. Yeah. Coach, Coach Hartline, man. He's full of energy, man. And he's creative as well, you know. I'm just learning from him as well, you know. I'm trying to run more outside the backfield. It was being able to learn from Coach Hartline. And so, he's definitely creative at what he does. And he brings a lot of energy to the team as well. And so, I think that would do really good. You know, just the intensity, man, the intensity of the playoffs.

Every game, man, it's like the intensity got, you know, higher and higher. And so, you know, being able to, I know in the lead, it's the same thing. Even if it's not the playoffs, just every game and the intensity, it keeps getting higher and higher. So, yeah, you just, I know you got to bring it, you know, each and every day and come in and work. And so, I think I'm going to go higher state. You know, I definitely feel like Ohio State, they definitely do a good job of preparing us for that. You know, I just remember even before going through this process, I'll talk to a lot of players before that. And they told me a lot of just about how much Ohio State prepared them, you know, for the NFL. And so, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I know I took a couple of days off after the National Championship. And then, shoot, right after that, I'm writing sample Florida and I'm right to it. And so, yeah, I think while I trained, I trained at YoMurf Performance. I think it's called the House of Athlete or the Compound now. They did a good job, man. They're just bringing us in and the way they went about training us, man.

They did a really good job. The Bucking Nears, no, I haven't. Temple, a Tampa nice. It's a nice city, man. Really nice. The 40 to broad and avert. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. No, man. It's really all about technique and then it's about mindset as well. And so, I say, you know, it's for the love of my brother. It's for the love of Will Howard. It's for the love of the receivers who I got on the perimeter. Just making sure, you know, first of all, my quarterback doesn't get sacked. And I told Will I think it was before the first game. I was like, I got your brother. I said, man, I'm not going to let you get hit, you know. I don't know if I gave up a sack. I'm not sure that. But I know if I did, I haven't given up too many. And so, man, it's for the love of my brother's, though, man.

Making sure the ball get in their hands, you know, the guys on the outside and making sure they get fed. You had to hit the practice field later today. What is something you've been working on right now when you need to? In my game. You can't really work on this, you know, in all season, I feel like it's more so. You know, you got to put the pads on. You got to go through some inside run, you know, maybe. It's really just continuing to run through tackles. And so that's, I feel like that's one of the areas in my game. You know, I want to continue to get better. I feel like I did a good job of that in my senior year. And so I just want to continue to build on that. Yes, I did. Yes, I did. People training to look like, I haven't arrived there. You're back in person. I've been meddling together a lot. I did meet with New Orleans as well. I never got that comparison. Actually, I know I have a Camera shoe, yeah, man. I have a Camera great, great back, man. Just what he does, and those 101 matchups, he's dangerous, man. And he's so smooth. He's so smooth as well. I'm not going to lie. He's smooth. To the rigid flavor of the player, if you don't have a bit of potential for him,

Yeah, inside zone from stack being able to hit that thing downhill and I'll say the next one is probably Just an option route out of the backfield, you know, and man and man coverage you're getting on that linebacker and so Yeah, I say the man the biggest thing is the way that he carries himself man and the way that man Um, he approaches the game. He comes in with the monster, you know, he's gonna work every single week, you know every practice You know he's working hard, you know, um even shoot it. I don't know every good I think he had a every game was a good game for him, man And so but still man He always has the mentality to mindset that you know, he's gonna come in each and every day He's gonna continue to work and get better man, and so he's definitely man He's gonna be a special player man. He really is

I Man a lot of ups and downs man is this How you respond to adversity and I feel like that's something that God has definitely helped me to do better It's just I'm not have something to lean on now, you know, I remember before I met him You know going through those adversity. I had nothing to run to, you know You can run to people, but they still can't it's not too much. They can't truly help you You know, I feel like you know, I feel like the only person that can truly help you is your relationship with Jesus Christ And so I'm being able to lean on him, you know, he gives you in those moments where it's tough You know where it's low and when you're behind the scenes and you're going through things that people don't know about He gives you he gives you that peace and comfort, you know Even in those moments man, we're so hard that you can't you can't explain It's like man, I'm going through this, but like how am I still feel with this internal joy? You know, how do I have so much peace in this situation? And so that's something that only Jesus Christ can give you and so

Man eight those guys have such a great mentality man I might just really love their mentality especially Q as well, you know, I talked about Will Howard his leadership, but Quinchiam mentality man That boy just yeah that boy just gifted, you know, you see, you know Sometimes he put in a situation where he looked like you know, he should have a negative five yards And as soon as you know it, you know, he the running through somebody step on somebody and she was just a gain of 10 Shoot I think Yeah, man, I think it's just like he's just gifted man to be honest. He's just gifted You know, he's he's a big back. You know, he's strong and so you know, he's able to do he's able to do those things And so yeah, man, it's definitely you know, I look at his game and I want to you know at the same time I want to learn from Quinchiam, you know, I want to look at this game is like man Where can I get better at as well? You know, that's the type of player I am. I'm always looking to get better man I'm always looking to grow as a player

Julian San, oh, yeah, he's gonna be a great but he's gonna be a great quarterback man He's so so accurate and so he's definitely man I know coach day is definitely going to get him right just you know I'm continuing to grow as a leader continuing to grow as a player and so he's going to be really good for high state He's I know just the quarterback position. I feel like you know the quarterbacks in the past They've they've definitely been vocal and so I feel like that's something that they're definitely going to ask of Julian San as well. It's to be that vocal leader and lead the lead to offense and lead to steam Shoot man, he has he has a bill like JK Dobbins and I Kind of see them you know similar similarities in their game as well And I know JK Dobbins he was a great running back. I feel like he's not talked about his none A lot but man his career here you watch his highlights is is great. I remember Before I recruit before I committed here. I remember watching JK Dobbins highlights like every

Every on one of his years here like four or five times and so man He was such a great back and I feel like you know when I see JK Dobbins when I see James people I see similarities to both of their games. I feel like they play the same Appreciate you all y'all You You

You You You You All I got coming in last shot new row. So I just tacked every day really the same way

It's a very rare I think I got a lot bigger. I'm like 240 you know like 240 for right now last shot. I played it like 236 to 37 I just feel like I'm like Like like more downhill like stronger. I'm taking all blocks better. It's big Ready to just play 30 more snaps. So I'm looking forward to it. I'm ready for it. I'm ready for it. The text is open. It's a rematch

And so it's big but it's not really two different teams compared to the last time y'all played and stuff How's that enhanced this camp for you and this team getting ready for the Where an opener of that magnitude? Yeah, we're the opener like that. We've been we've been emphasizing in a lot of we know we got coming so we know we got to do We're prepared for it. I already just probably I think Riley ready to play right now. He he advanced freshman like he ended here in the book He stood in like he advanced and his measurements is crazy like he saw like the saw line to What was that process like during last season could you feel yourself? Becoming more and more ready The team needed Yeah, because that's pretty much what my role was just whenever I was needed I had to step up So I feel like that's what built me into me being able to say I'm ready for this year When you say ready is it more a physical thing? When I say ready I think it's pretty much like everything physically mentally mostly I think I'm there

A different is that feeling this year Oh, I still want to talk I feel like it's a Way bigger responsibility with me having to step up this year, but I kind of go about it the same way like last year. I was intentional with everything I did I feel like this year it's gonna be the same thing. It's probably a little bit more It won't work I I say Skrab on gang I say like when you think of me you think of like a like a bullet like a silver bullet I don't really a bullet. I'm always on the ball. That's how I like to play a thing No, I ain't ain't got to be my nickname, but

Um think it fit me because I Don't know I just like the defense. I feel like we got like you said we got a lot of freedom and we're moving around a lot Lot of the times is like no, I don't know. I don't really not answer that I don't even know if I say that because there's a lot of thinking going on, but it's like I just like his I like how pretty deep I like what you got going on No, I wanted to much sad. I was kind of like happy for No That's my dog. I don't see it kind of missing a little bit. I'm happy for Talked a lot about the guys who played some last year, but maybe weren't the starters and the hunger for That wasn't maybe your national championship you guys How much do you feel that is a guy who certainly contributed last year, but will be in this bigger role and along with some of your

Yeah, I do feel like Yeah, I do feel like I did win a national championship, but like you said my role wasn't same as how's gonna be this year So yeah, I definitely want to want to go get another one experience that like feeling with me be on the field a lot more place Want to be on that just like the fed, but you know, you gotta stay Yeah, that's a great question. I mean I don't think I feel like these two can answer that for the year right now I think KJ here. I don't know what to say about that. What do you guys think? Strong

He doesn't give up on the playing He's not like a coach man About maybe like the idea of tack over his garden because obviously his Offensive predilection was for like yeah, the offense blind play Part of you settling in the guard That's um, I was I want to say Maybe I don't know, but I mean when I when I for sure you got the job I was really excited because I'm one of those guys who's the tempo I can run with the tempo You know what mean I'm I'm playing basketball all life instead of football and I feel like Just the fast pace often so we're running really fits the guys we have right now. I'm really excited I know you can throw a football at 65 yards, but can you kick a football 75 yards and wake up? Probably question Lincoln. What's your question? How is your

Your roommate He's a blessing man. I can't complain. He's a great guy His name's linking keen hoes Oh I think we're both really clean. That's why we kind of picked each other's roommates because we're very clean and we don't like our words really messy Well, it's true though. It's a truth. They're both pretty clean So Luke are you still a cross-training at tabbell some or if you just been all guard this spring? Oh so far I've been all guard. I really don't know like I said I'm taking it practice by practice. I could end up being back at tacky good not but You know, I'm just really focused in on this past practice and the next one Yeah, oh, that mean a lot You know you put a lot of work in to play here. He's been a dream just from being in Ohio kid is I'm from Ohio kids perspective It's I mean, that's the biggest wish possible I would as I would say that's that'd be pretty cool. What was it like just last year first game?

It didn't like it's gonna be a weird answer, but it feel like I was playing a game yet if that makes sense I did I was pretty locked in I felt like just no anxiousness no stress and nothing really I just went in that first game was like shoot out in here now. It's time to roll, you know It didn't really hit me. I was like it didn't even hit me after but no mom was like what'd you feel there? And if like getting out there in the end? I just like honestly, I don't know I felt less nervous. I didn't ice go and I had makes no sense A lot I mean I'm learning from Josh and Austin. I think prior to where my biggest role model series my bigger big brother My first time I'm up to deal I don't know. Okay, yeah, no So yeah, PD and Austin those are my guys man. I mean even miles to I mean all three of them That's those are my roommates and they're progressing every day as well on and I'm excited to see where they where they can get to I'm excited to plan and feel with them. Oh Yeah, you know it's been really helpful. You know just keep in my mind just settled in straight forward on the next play

It's a great question. Um like I said, I mean I just need to take consistent in my word. I think that's the biggest thing for me is just ain't consistent. I'm worried about the next one So you got it from the guy you were in the play. Yeah Wow, that's weird. Yeah, I mean, I guess they didn't want to get my nerves up But like I was ready. I mean, I did I took most of the ones That's all camping. I mean, I was already I was pretty much it. Yeah, I wasn't really nervous. It started the game What was his advice? Yeah, he said you got it. You mean you're going against Tyleek and Kyle every day and practice me and it's not different Almost different are you now though to attend to the two-star attendants as a player, you know having having that under your belt? Yeah, I'm more confident. I know what's going on. I can see like I can see what's going on with the defense. I know what's going on I know what's coming. I mean I understand the games a lot better than what it was

I mean we get out early it's get the defense change in place I think they're defensive So they're fast me they're trying to get the call in the play, but you start faster I'm not going back you trust a lot of sessions. Yeah, of course days pretty much said You deserve to play Um, wherever they need me if it's left right wherever I need to go in I go in and go back to do the front of me Took me back to high school days, but I should back in high school was really random ball up really into him passes, but It was fun Change got my made my feet better. I would say They want me there I guess I'll play I mean they need me they need me Also in the illness that swept through the office line room a lot of times coaches and players are said that that was still relying for the Grim you know getting you experience among others

What was that like for you and double-dipping playing some tag or playing some guard the same practice? It was based like a group effort like for me new we had guys out and we just had to go back practice All five guys is wherever they were playing. We just got to go You know how much of that accelerate your development like that time with the ones you actually get it really said it then I was jumped in there. I didn't really know So we get like one or two practices with practices, but like after those I was like You know my confidence grew Yeah, it seemed like there was sort of a settling in practice process for you and the Akron game Maybe play got better at the game when on it and really to especially in the ground game Things seem to take on but was there a moment when it clicked on the field for you like was there nerves and then a time of Settling in I guess how taking you through kind of that first game mentally. Yeah First game obviously you can have nerves be the first time starter But then like after the first couple plays

Meaning I'm nerves naturally. That's first complete. I was good. I was rolling Yeah You yeah, it's like I prepared well And camp and practice all week and I was I was ready I'm yeah, I have two multi-year starters It did a lot I mean I could ask them a what we got here, but I was prepared well I was telling Jimmy and says like a way our blocks Not the emotional side of it. What's a guy from Ohio? What does it mean? It was always my dream to come here and play and start and Having that like me as you're like keep going keep building those days and go games and keep building What a much younger Austin No, not I don't think

Even I told like me I asked my younger self even committing and I wouldn't believe that now having a couple of starts Awesome has this happened I guess you're technically a sophomore No, I knew that year two I was gonna see you some playing time now starting week one year two I didn't see that but like I was ready in spring ball like a new I was gonna I was gonna place some What does it mean to you to it's not only get the opportunities of play but like you play well enough now Coaching staff trust I guess it shows like my preparation my hard work and just everything I put into this and I just finally showing up on a field In the end of the spring I don't realize that you could play at this high level

Yeah, but definitely was in a training camp means blocking highly can tie every day Like it feels you feels a lot of confidence and doing it well and not like getting balled or anything Hero in Jason Moore and Taiwan all those guys me pretty much anyone on the deep and wine And Kay and Mac as well, so yeah A lot of more collected how He helped me a lot and I'm proud that he's our starting center not someone else's but um I mean, he's like the captain of the line. He's another voice on the line With guys like Josh Fryer and Josh Simmons Donnie and Tiger. That means another voice and another captain Look ways of having and everything's much experience help Me a lot he can tell you like before to play what's going on and like how to block someone like what you need to do and like

That's a lot It makes us more calm like especially me and pay as a first star. So like we were up here What what said like he brought us down mean we were like fine like our emotions weren't high we were so in Is that like something he tells you is that something you pick up on by how he's acting? How do you kind of mean sense what he's trying to do? By how he's acting and what I mean him when we're on the side of him both Josh Donnie like he was telling us like a Rook who like we got it, but it's pretty much like oh everyone. Oh cool group I said how much do that as a first time starter how much at the end that mean a lot And that was my first time ever using high pads. We didn't use the iPads in high school, but I mean you can say like try to remember the defense and you can just come on a silent bring them we'll play and get help

Probably the first or second after the I thought we say oh Great awesome. Thank you very much Park is a part of but it's not the whole thing they're getting bigger strong It's it's also it's a lot and I mean it's and I feel like you can't Be able to transform your body like I like I have like people here come and do that without having that mentality apart with it It's like we we always talk about competitions here and our Uh Our culture is fight so we're always here to compete and I feel like that is just that's what Gets you in this mindset Transformation you just give us a little sense maybe with numbers or body fat or What do you do the weight group how big is that transformation? I don't have really specific numbers, but I just like It's more just like I can just I feel like feeling when I'm playing like I remember how I felt the play

When I just got here and now I know how how it feels to play like like like just today like it feels Physically different on my body And it's like just it's I'm getting used to it that makes sense He also said about you that you are just a completely different guy from last year We're here to work this year. Let's get it done. Yeah, look so you're here. Do you feel like you weren't At that place mentally. I think I was but I think I had some uh I would say like Kind of like confidence issues like I was just but you know, I mean I work past it and I know I can I know why I am and I know I can be here. So Has confidence issues? Is it yourself as teammates through someone in the family that makes you believe that you can do it? Um, I know I can do it. It's not like that's those are those are all it's on the past now

Did the past the play time in the very obvious opportunity guys had the stuff up the other day on the business That helped you crank you know, that confidence issue there because it's now a neverance of your opportunity So kind of is just like um I Just I mean it's just just being here like I feel like being here every day working with the guys every day It's just like you know you become this person that you might not have like Uh, you might not have like felt like you were before that but like coming here working every day stacking these days like Like you know, I mean, I just feel like I realized who I am and I know what I can do now I knew I knew I could play here. I mean, it's just it was like the

Like I just I don't know how to explain. I just like I've always known I could play here. It's just I'm just Like let's go like I'm ready like I'm ready to attack For sure, I think KJ was a big influence tie Hamilton tie league. They all they all helped me a bunch last year kind of just pushing through you know We playing as much so I just wanted to get like more experience under my belt So I can know bring younger guys with me because I've been through We've seen from well Uh, well as a workhorse he he goes stay quiet. You go and work hard and that's all I love about him Focuses he don't really talk much. He's gonna get a job done do a job right really has any mistakes

What would be a successful season Uh, the National Championship Ring When all the games we don't want to lose anything We got a mindset that we can't be beat and we just gotta go show it Seems like you guys expect the National Championship every year this year even more so you guys have all come back for this You guys have all decided like that Or is there really any difference? It's just the same work. It's definitely a difference everyone working harder We noticed our last run like we most of us don't have any years after this So we got to go go bigger going home and we're not trying to go home Finish big we know what you guys think of Michigan When you look at what they did they won the National Championship and you guys Took them down to the final minute, right? You know what I mean? I mean you You were right there something goes a little different you guys could have been one that game against them Does that tell you anything about like that? Hey you guys want to win a national championship, but You played to the 59th minute with the team that won the National Championship last year like you're that close

This I'm saying We just like work harder. That's that's kind of coach makes of saying you know nobody cares Just work harder like those know won't play Georgia the same thing Last last play you know they went on the win in 90 so We just got to get over that hump at the end of the season. I think we'll be fine Health frustrating is that you're that close against the last two national title Uh, of course as you know it's frustrating, but you can't change the outcome You can't really dwell on it. You just got to you know come back and work harder do things Better than you did last year and hopefully the outcome would change Is that as you get older you kind of learn and I thought that was working hard but then you always find out there's a little more Yeah, definitely. I mean that's how that's what growing up is basically in college I thought fresh me. I was working as hard as I could but now I look back at it I really wasn't working hard at all compared to what I'm doing now. So just to learn anything

80 85 I mean I can it's all on me. I just I think it's a little higher. I was just trying to be funny, but I mean, it's all on me. I just got to run harder It's been a thing The idea of potentially I think I think we I definitely can last I was just you know we got to get the young guys to come along with us We can't play 50 snaps again. That's just too much on our bodies Just Everybody like online D line we got to get those younger guys to play you know get that pieces on the D line and O line And everywhere else so we can last Ah yeah, I did unless we were like winning by like a lot I thought like there are no moments you know I can go sit down or something

But we're playing them big games like you know Notre Dame too or North those kind of games. I of course I want to be because I know I can contribute and I won't want to put that on anyone else when I know I can get the job done And he got it. You guys in a second. Oh, yeah, definitely came back as a Came back to animal y'all you haven't really seen it yet, but in practice he shows all the time. He's just He's just he's growing right now. He has a work ethic. He just has to get you know in the playbook things like that You guys are about the exact same size Listen, you're both listening to six three you're three 27. He's three 26 Yeah, he's I kind of look at him like my my junior, but you know came He's gonna be a great player. He's got to develop more and get into playbook So really a lot on you older guys that large group of young guys and then there's the seniors in the back Is that part of your task for this year to bring those guys Yeah, definitely we got to be leaders. Um, like I say, we got to have them play this year We can't just play all the snaps. They got to get in there and get some work And we got to get them right Burn all season so they can play and not just play they want to like contribute like make plays tackles sex

You Seems like these guys get bigger Each one freshman class Uh, those guys kind of doesn't kind of why you yourself first. Yeah, they're definitely some big dudes Um, and they all work hard. I've only seen much of something day two But throughout the workouts they've been working hard, you know, they they're determined And it looks like they're ready to work athletic defensive tackle to get eat up space Is that environment maybe for great defense to have guys like you that have some fault but Also a great secret. I think that is definitely I think if you look at the last Couple of national championship winners are like team of Northean and they got two good Detackle two athletic detackles. Look at Georgia two athletic detackles So I think that's definitely neat if you want to go on that big run and beat those big teams

You think about this if they want to find by the defense with actors like And what's Georgia's Jordan Davis and Jim Carter? What's Michigan is Chris Jenkins You understand it because you play it, but I feel like sometime that I don't know it's our people realizing how important defense tackles are a little bit more than they used to I think so I think they're starting to develop to develop more and more of these like freakiest detackles Like in the combine just now you seeing like those guys they're moving We're in the 478s and things like that so We'll see and when you think it when you think about those freakish Oh, yeah, definitely. I think I'm top-notch when it comes to detackles But I don't want to you know get a big head, but you know watch the command. I watch it these do the drills I have T.T. like you're looking like my film. So I think I'm up there You become like a artist

Think your legs have your things when you're going Bring practice you're not doing as much a weapon I mean as many as I can have I think I have more than that, but I think I think they're a councilman and it's some of them where I like just missed it But I think we work on drones matching the hand. I think that's uh goes big and uh What we do is a deal on you know just affecting the quarterback is Anyway, you can it's just great for the defense, you know, just that little thing covered is I you know He might throw it a little bit to the left to our player So it's something that you really really have to work on It's one of the things that you can maybe work on the most There are a few guys that I've seen Like oh that passes Kind of I think I just have like a like a eye for the ball kind of I kind of just look at the quarterback and just I see him

I load up I just try to get in his ways and sometimes he's throws it to me I mean they get frustrated, but you know we're a team, you know we're just good Yeah, I should lot of a lot of different backsman and just learn and grow for them Uh I don't really have a top three, but I'll give you I'll give you one. I would say Sequoan Gibbs and I like McCaffrey auto he was injured this year. I like McCaffrey Who's the best back in this drive best back in this drive I lead out of the yard. That's y'all that's y'all decision Playing with howard when I'm going to remember most Uh We're a Howard man. He's just such a great lead such a great leader man. It's just like in moments where you know Usually a lot of players they fold man. He was just always calm and relaxed man. He

Just the leader that he was man. That's one thing I'm gonna remember about him Yeah, he's Shoot he's gonna be really good man. He's um Coastal like I think he got the transfer in as well from West Virginia Just that one two punch with them both as well. They're gonna be really good backs And so James people's man. He's smart the way that he goes about his business man He's mature and so man. He's growing, you know, just as a person and as a player and so man Yeah, definitely Ohio State, you know that running back room is in great hands You Yeah Coach hard line man. He's full of energy man and he's creative as well You know, I'm just learning from him as well, you know Trying to run more outside the backfield was being able to learn from coach hard line And so he's definitely creative at what he's he does and he brings a lot of energy to the team as well And so I think that would do really good You

Just intensity man and since he got the playoffs Every game and it's like the intensity got you know higher and higher and so you know being able I know in the lead. It's it's the same thing even if it's not the playoffs Just every every game and intensity it keeps getting higher and higher and so yeah You just I know you got to bring it you know each and every day and come in and work just like Ohio State You know, I definitely feel like Ohio State they definitely do a good job of preparing us for that You know, I just remember even before going through this process. I'll I'll talk to a lot of players Before then and they told me a lot of just about how much Ohio State prepared them, you know for the NFL and so yeah Yeah Yeah, I know I took a couple days off after the um National championship and then Shoot right after that. I'm right in right in Tampa, Florida and I'm right to it and so um Yeah, I think where I trained I trained that on your worth performance. I think it's called the house of athlete or the compound now

Um, they did they did a good job, man. I'm just bringing us in and the way they went about training us man They were they did a really good job The bucket near know I haven't Temple of Tampa nice. This is nice. It's a nice city man. Really nice Uh, the 40 to broad and avert Yeah No, man, uh, it's really all about technique and then it's about mindset as well And so um, I say you know, it's for the love of my brother. It's for the love of will highway It's for the love of the receivers who I got on the perimeter just making sure you know, um first of all my quarterback doesn't get sacked And I I told will I think it was before the first game. I was like I got your brother It's uh, I said man, I'm not gonna let you get hit, you know, um, and so um I don't know if I don't know if I gave up a sack. I'm not sure that um, but I know if I did I haven't given up too many

And so man, it's for the love of my brothers. Don't man making sure that the ball get in their hands You know the guys on the outside and making sure they get fed In my game uh, you can't really work on this, you know, in all season I feel like it's more so you know, you got to put the pads on you got to go through some inside run You know, maybe uh, it's really just continuing run through tackles and so that's I feel like that's one of the areas in my game You know, I want to continue to get better at I feel like I did a good job of that my senior and so I just want to continue to build on that Yes, I did yes, I did Uh, I did me with um new Orleans as well um, I never got that comparison actually um, I know I've a comrade sure Yeah, man, I've a comrade great great back man Just what he does and those 101 matchups he's dangerous man and he's so smooth. He's so smooth as well. I'm not gonna lie. He's smooth

Yeah Inside zone from stack being able to hit that thing downhill and I say the next one is probably Just an option route out of the backfield, you know, and man and man coverage. You're getting on that linebacker and so He will be here Yeah, I say to man the biggest thing is the way that he carries himself man in the way that man um, he approaches the game He comes in with the monster, you know, he's gonna work every single week, you know, every practice, you know, he's working hard You know um even shoot. I don't know every good thing. I think he had a every game was a good game for him But still man he always has the mentality to mindset that you know, he's gonna come in each and every day He's gonna continue to work and get better man, and so he's definitely man. He's gonna be a special player man. He really is

Man a lot of ups and downs man. It's just How you respond to adversity and I feel like that's something that God is definitely helped me to do better Is this um now have something to lean on now, you know, I remember before I met him, you know, going through those adversity I had nothing to run to you know, you can run to people But they still can't it's not too much. They can't truly help you You know, I feel like you know, I feel like the only person that can truly help you is your relationship with Jesus Christ And so being able to lean on him, you know, he gives you in those moments where it's tough, you know, where it's low and um When you're behind the scenes and you're going through things that people don't know about He gives you he gives you that peace and comfort, you know Even in those moments man, where it's so hard that you can't you can't explain. It's like man I'm going through this but like how am I still filled with this internal joy? You know, how do I have so much peace in this situation? And so that's something that only Jesus Christ can give you and so

Um Those guys have such a great mentality man. I'm I just really love their mentality especially um Q as well, you know, I talked about will Howard his leadership but Quincham mentality man um That boy just yeah that boy just gifted you know, you see you know Sometimes he put in a situation where he looked like you know, he should have a negative five yards And as soon as you know it, you know, he that running through somebody stiff arm and somebody and she just gained a 10 and so You Yeah, man, I think it's just like he's just gifted man to be honest. He's just gifted You know, he's he's a big back. You know, he's strong and so um, you know, he's he's able to do he's able to do those things It's so yeah, man. It's definitely you know, I look at his game and I want to you know at the same time I want to learn from Quincham, you know, I want to look at this game is like man Where where can I get better at as well? You know, that's the type of player I am I'm always looking to get better man. I'm always looking to grow as a player

Julian san oh, yeah, he's gonna be a great but he's gonna be a great quarterback man He's so so accurate and so um, he's definitely man. I know coach dad's definitely going to get him right just You know, um container grow as a leader container grow as a player and so he's going to be really good for high state Uh He's there. I know just the quarterback position um, I feel like you know the quarterbacks in the past they've they've definitely been vocal And so I feel like that's something that they're definitely going to um ask them Julian saying as well It's to be that vocal leader and lead the um and lead the offense and lead the steam Shoot man, he has he has a build like JK Dobbins and um, I kind of see them, you know similar similarities in their game as well And I know JK Dobbins he was a great running back. Um, I feel like he's not talked about his none Um a lot but man his career here you watch his highlights is is great. I remember um Before I recruit before I committed here. I remember watching JK Dobbins highlights like every

Every um one of his years here like four or five times and so man He was such a great back and um, I feel like you know, um, when I see JK Dobbins when I see um James people I see similarities to both of their games. I feel like they play the same So appreciate you all. Yeah, I'll be going You

You You

You All I got coming in last I knew we're all so I just attack every day really the same way It's taking advantage very rough physically different. Are you weight wise body wise all that from the year? Um, I think I got a lot bigger. I'm like 240. You know, I'm like 244 right now last year I played it like 236 to 37. So what does it feel like a 244 or a belt? You feel like almost a different Machine out there. Yeah, like what's it? What does it feel like to be running around out there like you are but with more More back. I just feel like I'm like like Like more downhill like stronger like I'm taking old bloods better. It's big. Yeah Is it daunting? Uh, maybe that's not the correct term, but to think you're going to be playing much more than you did even last year And you played quite a bit last year instead of what you have to get straight in your head about being on the field that much more Just got to get ready to just play already more snaps. So

But are you are you how would you describe how much you're looking forward to it from an 8th Yeah, I'm looking forward to it. I'm ready for it. My I'm ready for it. I think it's open. It's a rematch And so to say but it's not really two different teams compared to the last time you all played and stuff How has that enhanced this camp for you and this team getting ready for the where an opener of that magnitude? Yeah, with an opener like that we've been um with the emphasizing in a lot of we know we got coming so we know we got to do we've prepared for it Um, I think Riley ready to prepare right now. He he advanced freshman like he ended he in the book He stood in like he advanced and his measurements was crazy like he saw like the saw lines What was that process like during last season could you feel yourself Becoming more and more ready Yeah, cuz that's pretty much what my role was just whenever I was needed I had to step up So I feel like that's what built me into me being able to say I'm ready for this year when you say ready

Is it more physical thing? Mental thing when I say ready. I think it's pretty much like everything physically mentally mostly. I think I'm there A different is that Oh Oh I feel like it's uh It's a way bigger responsibility with me having to step up this year, but I kind of go about it the same way like last year. I was intentional with everything I did I feel like this year is gonna be the same thing. It's probably a little bit more It won't work I say Scrub my gun I say like when you think of me you would think of like a like a bullet like a silver bullet

I don't really a bullet. I'm always on the ball. That's how I like to play and think No, I ain't ain't gotta be my nickname, but Yeah Um think it fit me because I don't know I just like the defense. I feel like we got like you said we got a lot of freedom and we moving around a lot A lot of the times is like no, I don't know. I don't really not answer that I don't even know if I say that because there's a lot of thinking going on, but it's like I just like his defense. I like how to put your defense. I like what you got going on Uh No, I wanted to much sad. I was kind of like happy for him Yeah, that's what you want

All right, that's my dog. I'm gonna say yeah kind of missing a little bit, but yeah, I'm happy for him though Well, don't thank you go ahead one last but coach days talked a lot about the guys who played some last year But maybe weren't the starters and the hunger for That wasn't maybe your national championship you guys will win your own Yeah, how much do you feel that as a guy who certainly contributed last year? But we'll be in this bigger role and along the summer year Yeah, I do feel like um Yeah, I do feel like I did win the nadi last year, but like you say my role wasn't same as how's gonna be this year So yeah, I definitely want to want to go get another one experienced that like feeling maybe on the field a lot more place Oh, Bill. Thank you very much Unique offense compared to Especially with the way he uses receivers. How do you anticipate your role? Agent, and how do you view the offense from a receiver perspective specific? Yeah, um, I mean, I think he likes to really push the ball down the field He likes to be balanced. He likes to Give different looks to a difference. You know, we're gonna

Not to try to get too much into it, but you know, we're gonna use some motion move some guys around and things of that nature I think for myself I feel comfortable playing any of the positions that is that is asked whether it's the slot the outside positions and Unique part about our offense is I don't think necessarily you play the X or the Z because the pit on the formation of the hash You can be the opposite you could be the X but then you're to the field now you're the Z So you got to really learn The entire concept and know where you're out in the field which I think Makes everybody smarter players because you don't pigeonhole yourself. I just play X You know, I'm only in this position like you get in two minutes. You're the Z now you got to know what to do You may have the clear out router. You may have the backside dig like you got to know what you're doing So I think he doesn't just say like we're going to do this offense He's really trying to create an office that fits our personnel really well that that field boundary thing Yeah, that's a thing in college, but it seems like it's more to clip is that is that something you're used to seeing Another offense has been in yeah, definitely. I mean, I think if if I'm on the left hash like technically I'm

I'm the X you know, I'm in the boundary, but if we're on the right hash. I'm still on the left side I'm really the Z in the concept because I'm to the field and to the strength of the tight end so um I've been in offenses like is similar like that before and um, you know, I just think he He one thing I think that's really stood out as the compliments of our routes that we have so far um, I feel like we have a chance to really Run similar stems, but there's different routes off those stems and things like that which I think for receiver like myself who uh You get you know a really good look at DB's and they study your film they study your splits like having routes That look the same, but break off a different Different angles is extremely important because it feels like you have some versatility in your bag to go out with versus like You got this hitch again. You're backside. You like that's all you got, you know, I mean so um Yeah, he's just been a really good player's person to work with and he's been really communicative with the leaders and how we want this offense to look like Some of the ideas that we may have as well. So it's it's been a really

Cool transition. You talk about the transitions you're nerd offense in three years probably your fourth and six years Yeah, how do you not kind of build up some barriers? Yeah, man. I gotta do this again. Right um, I think you know human nature is is always um A factor in whatever you doing life, but I think I try to make a conscious choice of coming in with a new year mentality each and every year And I think it's easy because we've had so many changes in um, it's been great working with Marcus and jaden and Jeff and Sam all of everybody like it's it's been great with working with all the quarterbacks and um I just have a mentality and not really being complacent like I try to really focus on the things that I I can come back better at this year and I've been working my my butt off to do that. So um, I think the easy thing and when I was younger You're like dang like you just want that consistency, you know, I mean like you want that um

Something you could depend on, but like life isn't life isn't always like that. So um, I've been Re-invigorated because of just the energy that dq brings in to our building each and every day and and the coaches as well Like it's fun competing, you know, I don't mean and sometimes I could get lost in the grind, but um I think the reason why you make it here at this level is because you you fall in love with the competition of it and I think the competition breathes the success because um That is really where you the iron truly sharpens iron. So you know other guys are going to make plays, but you get excited to go in there and and know that um, the next day we're going to go right back after the defense. So um For myself, I'm just looking forward to continue to grow with the quarterbacks that we have um, I'm in year six now, which is extreme blessing and um Leader one of the leaders in our room and I just try to take the bull by the horns with that and so That's really been my focus and uh, you know, I'm excited for another year

To us, it's looked like you're being more vocal on the sideline. Yeah help young guys. Definitely something you decided this off season or? Uh, I think that's uh been a part of my maturation process as a leader. Um, I've always seen myself as somebody that was a uh leader by example um, but From coaches and other teammates. I've had over the years um guys like to hear what I have to say for whatever reason sometimes You know, and I think the biggest thing where I've tried to Figure out where I fit in with my vocal leadership is I never wanted to be like a dictator You know, I mean, I never wanted to tell guys what to do or or be a yellow or things like that Like when I say something, I wanted to have power. I wanted to have meaning and I hope you know The guys would feel the same way if they were to ask them that question Um, because I want to see all these guys win man like it's it's hard to make it in this league and staying a career And so anyway, I could help the receivers the DBs. I'm talking to some alignment Johnny who's who's rehabbing his foot. You know what I mean? Like everybody has a role and everybody has a different story and path

And so if I could share what I've been through my testimony to help them or Do things that kind of slow down the process. I'm gonna try to do that because um, we need everybody from The rookies to the ten year vets to to make this thing work. So um more so I try to speak to What I what I know and and really those honest conversations that I try to have with guys What they know I'm coming from a good place and I think I'm out of type of guy where I'm just gonna want talking at them like if they see something like I could take a coaching point from Luke McCaffrey I could take a coaching point from day on me from johan from Marcus from anybody, you know like I think that's what makes you a great player when you can really Be coachable from anybody and not take it from a personal standpoint Hi, I'm good. I'm going back to what you were saying about Cliff and how is he as a teacher in teaching all this? Yeah, I mean, I think he does a really great job of making things simple first and foremost

He doesn't overcoach and I think that's the trust that he has in our group and his in his coaches Our position coaches to Fill in the details. So we'll have an install meeting and it'll be a good amount of time But then our position coaches will have time and we'll make it specific to that position and so Then we'll come in and have a walkthrough And then after that we'll have another walkthrough and so I don't think there's been a time where I've come out here And I'm kind of worried about what I got you know I mean and when you get into certain offices, there could be so many details where you could be overwhelmed and I think then it It forces it kind of separates guys in a sense that like one guy may study more than another guy But when you have these these sessions that we have where we're having an installs in the morning We're having two walkthroughs and then we're coming on the field and doing it like I think you notice a lot of guys Are playing a lot faster and more confident because he's keeping it simple But also he's very particular in in what he's expecting but it's not a lot. So There's not a pressure of to get it right but at the same time

You know is expected of you and and you know you're going to have the tools given to you to be successful out there on the field And this offseason just the totality of change from front office players coaches the turf field Yeah, what what does that been like for you just to see what's going on? It's been fun You know, I think from Mr. Harris and the entire ownership group down to Adam Peters down to DQ down to Jada who we drafted and bringing in Marcus and Jeff and all those guys and Down to leaders we have on our team. I think it was extremely specific on the way they tried to build this thing going into this year First having the right people bringing in leaders bringing in guys who love to compete first thing that DQ said when he came here Was and his first meeting like if you love to compete this is going to be the place for you. I love it You know, I mean I love bags and and going at it with the DB's every day like the little mundane stuff can seem a little boring But that's I think that was the Where you make the gains during the offseason where you're really focused on

I'm hey like I'm a I'ma give all I got for this day and I'ma get better And then I'ma I'ma learn from the film and come back tomorrow and ready to do it again And he also understands like the The benefits of having breaks like he's giving us breaks. We've had you know weeks off here in there That we can compose ourselves, but then come back and give it all we got you know, I mean and when you got a coach that Understands the physicality of an entire season where you guys do need breaks by the time the same time We're gonna get after it It makes it fun as a leader because you can take that to your room and be like yo, we got these we got this week You know, I mean that's extremely important, but you know, we have this little break coming up Where you're gonna get your your money your body your soul right? So Coming into this season. I'm really optimistic. Oh what we can be this year And I think it started with the foundation that The ownership group and the entire staff has built and now it's on myself as a leader to continue to hone that in into the locker room But I think it's great because we have so many great leaders from all across the league who have

one and Hell we got Bobby Wagner in there. You know, I mean, I asked a hall of famer so like You know being able to have kind of guys like that that you can lean on that can sometimes take over that leadership Rollward doesn't fall on one person. I think it's uh Extremely refreshing and knowing that everybody's on the same page and the message is the same Allows you to go out there with confidence and know what's expected. Oh you Terry you seem to spend many of your off seasons Learning about things beyond football hobbies. What happy did you do in any of this off season so far? It's a Hobbies are increased your knowledge of this the world around you It's a question um Play a lot of golf As that they just keeps my competitive juices flowing um Uh plan in the wedding that's going well and uh Man, I've just been grinding like honestly, you know, I mean, I've been hungry this all season like I started working out you know pretty early and

You start to see guys like coming back and it's just fun to like to be here and compete and feeling like everybody's on the same page You know what I mean like and so for me I'm a grind every off season, but just This one just feels like it's the start of something you know new and special and the foundation of his extremely important and to be a part of that to have a hand in that um You know, it's it's an honor, you know, and I put a lot of expectation on myself to come out here and and be the guy that I know I'm capable of and also like taking the next step and Being somebody that our quarterbacks that can trust and believe in so um This all season was pretty simple for me um It was just really about you know, working and and and grinding and getting better He talked about jaden before and so far. I know we haven't seen everything But in terms of his his arm strength the throws he's making anything surprising so far about the types that his ability in that regard definitely I think after the second or third cross or that he threw I started telling receivers like hey you gotta get your head around

You know, I mean because again each quarterback throws the ball differently and sees the field differently So sometimes on crossers a lot of quarterbacks may like to see you cross the ball and get into that open zone over there If it's a man flattened off they like to see you get open where him He has a really good anticipation over the middle of the field where he can make those throws and give you a chance to catch and run and He's really accountable too like we had to play today where he felt like he missed me and you know It's not a big deal at all, you know, I mean him and I could talk to those things and there's been a play that I've talked to him about I could do a better job, but again like that open that open former communication from a rookie I think is it's very rare and I think it speaks to the confidence he knows who he is But he's also not afraid to say when he's wrong and he knows he needs room to improve But his touch on the D ball is it's amazing You know, I love getting extra reps with practice after practice with him We're just catching the top end of a D ball as big for me, you know I mean I get to track the ball over my shoulder and it's big for him to be able to Get used to dropping the ball in the bucket, but he just naturally has an ability to throw the ball

He sees the windows really well and now He's just you know continue to get adjusted to the speed in the past rush I think he's these reps that he's getting our unbelievable during 11-11 because he's getting to feel pain and Allen and DA and Clealing Pharaoh like we got some dogs up there who are gonna come after him You know what I mean? And we got some great guys up front who are gonna protect them And so these reps I feel like are even better than just seven on seven seven on seven I think he could do in the sleep to be fair like he throws the ball really well But when you get this 11-11 two-minute drill you're putting them in game like situations and I'm looking them in his eye I'm like we play real ball now like we we we playing you know, I mean and You just see no no anxiousness in his game in his demeanor, which is extremely exciting and and then you know He's extremely lighthearted and he's always smiling So he's joking with lime and D line. He's just cool with everybody and like I said like for a rookie quarterback to come in like that Guys are gravitating to him and he's not afraid to be who he is That's dope. I think he has a bright future for himself

The tough losses the tough seasons. Mm-hmm can weigh on a player sure You're entering the prime of your career. Jay kind of mentioned it last year. All he cares about is winning He wants to win now is there a sense of urgency you obviously always want to win Knowing that you know, you're you're getting to the prime your career like you want to win now Yeah, I think that's a fair question. I think um, you know, you start to evaluate when you i'm in year six and you know It's how fast it goes and I try not to put the cart before the horse were looking too far ahead by at the same time You do want to win you want to be a part of a winning culture and have a chance to win the Super Bowl and the playoffs and all those things like that's why we we do this personally and I'm just excited with being a part of a Organization in the environment where now like everybody's on the same page in the in the In the message is uniform and it speaks from the top down and It reflects in the guys that they're bringing in you know all the guys that they brought in are guys who are hungry who are competitors who

Not only fighting for spots, but we're going to help us win games and when you're around environment like that like that That makes you excited makes you hopeful and um, you know, you don't know how that's going to turn out until we start playing games But um the foundation is extremely important. I think this offseason. We've really done a great job of building that They have and then when a coach quen guy here building with this team So I feel like we're going to be going into this offseason really Knowing we all got to do individually to become ready for camp But the met the message is clear to come back to camp ready to compete and And be ready to win thanks Daryk Appreciate you guys Okay Really playing as much so I just wanted to get like more experience under my belt So I can know bring younger guys with me because I've been to

Time Uh, well as a workhorse he he goes stay quiet. You're gonna work hard and that's all I love about you Focuses he don't really talk much. He's going to get a job done do a job right really has any mistakes What would be a successful season? Uh national championship Ring When all the games we don't want to lose anything We got a mindset that we can't be beat Which we gotta go show it Seems like you guys expect the national championship every year This year even more so you guys have all come back for this you guys have all decided like Difference or any difference it's just the same I was definitely a difference everyone working harder um, we noticed our last run Like we most of us don't have any years after this so we gotta go go bigger going home and we're not trying to go home Finish big we know what you guys think of Michigan but When you look at what they did they won the national championship and you guys

Took them down to the final minute right you know what I mean? I mean you You were right there something goes a little different you guys could have been one that came against them Does that tell you anything about like that? Hey you guys want to win a national championship but You played to the 59th minute with the team that won the national championship last year like you're that close So I'm saying uh, we just like work harder. That's that's kind of coach makes uh saying you know Nobody cares just work harder like those you know won't play Georgia is the same thing Last last play you know they went on the win in 90 so We just got to get over that hump at the end of the season. I think we'll be fine How frustrating is that you're that close against the last two national titles? Uh, of course as you know it's frustrating, but you can't change the outcome You can't really do it on uh do it on it You just gotta you know come back and work harder do things Better than you did last year and hopefully the outcome will change You get older you kind of learned I thought I was working hard and you always find out there's a little more Yeah, definitely. I mean, that's how that's what growing up is basically in college

I thought freshman year I was working it's hard as I could but now I look back at it I really wasn't working hard at all Compared to what I'm doing now, so just to learn anything 80 85 I mean I can it's all on me I just I think it's a little higher. I was just trying to be funny, but I mean, that's all on me. I just got to run harder I think I think we I definitely can rise. I was just you know We got to get the young guys to come along with us. We can't play for the snaps again That's just too much on our bodies uh Just Everybody like online D line. We gotta get those younger guys to play you know Get that pieces on the D line and O line and everywhere else so we can last that long run

Ah, yeah, I did unless we were like winning by like a line Uh, I thought like there are no mommy's you know I can go sit down or something But we're playing them big games like you know Notre Dame too or North those kind of games. I of course I want to be because I know I can contribute and I won't want to put that on anyone else when I know I can get the job done Oh, yeah, definitely came back as a came back to animal y'all you haven't really seen it yet But in practice he shows all the time. He's just He's just he's growing right now. He has to work at the edges has to get you know in the playbook and things like that You guys are about the exact same size Listen you're both listen six three you're three 27 he's three 26 Yeah, he's I kind of look at him like my my junior but you know Came may he gonna be a great player. He's got to develop more and getting to play book So really a lot on you older guys there's that large group of young guys and then there's the seniors in your back Is that part of your task for this year to bring those guys Yeah, definitely we got to be leaders um like I say we got to have them play this year

We can't just play all the snaps they got to get in there and get some work And we got to get them right during the all season so they can play and not just play they want to like contribute like make plays tackles sex Yeah, they're definitely some big dudes um, and they all work hard I'm really seeing much of something day two when I'm passing on but throughout the workouts they've been working hard You know they they're determined I would say that and it looks like they're ready to work I think that is definitely I think if you look at the last

Couple of national championship winners like team of north they didn't know they got two good Detackle two athletic detackers look at Georgia two athletic detackers I think that's definitely need if you want to go on that big run and beat those big dreams What's Georgia Jordan Davis and Daniel Carter? Let's miss again. It's Chris Jenkins But I feel like some time I don't know are people realizing how important defense tackles are a little bit more than they used to I think so I think they're starting to develop to develop more and more of these like freakiest detackles Yeah, like in the combine just now you see in like those guys they're moving four to four seven eights and things like that So When you think about those freakish Oh, yeah, definitely I think I'm top notch when it comes to detackles, but I don't want to you know get a big head

But you know watch the come on I watch you do the drills. I have to see like look at my film. So I think I'm up there I Become like a artist Your legs When you're going I Mean as many as I can have I think I have more than that But I think they said it on I think they didn't count some of them and it's some of them where I like just missed it So but I think we work on drones matching the hand. I think that's goes big and What we do is a deal on you know just affecting the quarter Vegas Anyway, you can it's just great for the defense. You know, just that little thing covered is I you know, he might throw it A little bit to the left to our players

Kind of I think I just have like a like a eye for the ball comment. I kind of just look at the quarterback and just I see him like load up I just try to get in his ways and sometimes he's just throws it to me I mean they get frustrated, but you know we're a team. You know we're just getting back I Watch a lot of a lot of different backs man. They just learn to grow for them Uh I don't really have a top three, but I'll give you I'll give you one. I would say Sequan Gibbs and I like McCaffrey auto he was injured this year. I like McCaffrey Who's the best back in this draft? I lead out of the yard. That's y'all that's y'all decision Playing with well Howard when I'm going to remember most Uh

We're a Howard man. He's just such a great lead such a great leader man. It's just like In moments where you know usually a lot of players they fold man He was just always calm and relaxed man. He just the leader that he was man. That's one thing. I'm gonna remember about him Yeah, he's shoot He's gonna be really good man. He's um Coastal I think he got the transfer in as well from West Virginia Just that one two punch with them both as well. They're gonna be really good backs And so James people's man. He's smart the way that he goes about his business man He's mature and so man. He's growing, you know, just as a person and as a player and so man. Yeah Definitely Ohio State, you know that running back room is in great hands He's Yeah But coach coach hard line man. He's full of energy man and um he's creative as well You know, I'm just learning from him as well. You know, I'm trying to run more outside the backfield It was being able to learn from coach hard line and so he's definitely creative at what he's he does

And he brings a lot of energy to the team as well, and so I think that would do really good Just the intensity man then since the other playoffs um every game and it's like the intensity got you know Higher and higher and so you know being able I know in the lead. It's it's the same thing Even if it's not the playoffs just every every game and then since it keeps getting higher and higher And so yeah, you just I know you got to bring it you know each and every day and come in and work Just like Ohio State, you know, I definitely feel like Ohio State they definitely do a good job of preparing us for that You know, I just remember even before going through this process. I'll I'll talk to a lot of players Before then and they told me a lot of just about how much Ohio State prepared them, you know for the NFL and so yeah Yeah Yeah, I know I took a couple days off after the um National championship and then

Shoot right after that. I'm right in right in Tampa, Florida and I'm right to it and so um Yeah, I think while trained I trained at um your morph performance. I think it's called the house of athlete or the compound now Um, they did they did a good job, man. They're just um bringing us in and the way they went about training us man They were they did a really good job The bucket near know I haven't Temple, temple, nice. This is nice. It's a nice city man really nice Uh, the 40 to broad and avert Yeah No, man. Uh, it's really all about technique and then it's about mindset as well And so um, I say you know, it's for the love of my brother. It's for the love of will highway It's for the love of the receiver. So I got on the perimeter just making sure you know, um first of all my quarterback doesn't get sacked And I I told will I think it was before the first game. I was like I got your brother is

I said man, I'm not gonna let you get hit you know um, and so um, I don't know if I don't know if I gave up a sack I'm not sure that um, but I know if I did I haven't given up too many and so man It's for the love of my brothers though man making sure that the ball getting their hands You know the guys on the outside and making sure they get fed In my game uh, you can't really work on this you know in all season I feel like it's more so you know, you got to put the pads on you got to go through some inside run You know, maybe uh, it's really just continuing to run through tackles And so that's I feel like that's one of the areas in my game To get better right I feel like I did a good job of that my senior and so I just want to continue to build on that Yes, I did yes, I did Uh, I did meet with um new Orleans as well um, I never got that comparison actually um, I know I have a commander Sure, yeah man. I have a commander great great back man um just what he does and those 101 matchups he's dangerous man

And he's so smooth. He's so smooth as well. I'm not gonna lie he smooth Yeah um Inside zone from stack being able to hit that thing downhill and I say the next one is probably Just an option route out of the backfield, you know, and man and man coverage you're getting on that linebacker and so Yeah, I say the man the biggest thing is the way that he carries himself man and the way that man um, he approaches the game He comes in with the monster, you know, he's gonna work every single week, you know, every practice, you know He's working hard, you know, um even shoot. I don't know every good thing. I think he had it every game was a good game for him And so but still man He always has the mentality to mindset that you know, he's gonna come in each and every day

He's gonna continue to work and get better man, and so he's definitely man. He's gonna be a special player man Man, a lot of ups and downs man is this How you respond to adversity and I feel like that's something that God has definitely helped me to do better Is this um now have something to lean on now, you know, I remember before I met him, you know, going through those adversity I had nothing to run to you know, you can run to people, but they still can't it's not too much They can't truly help you, you know, I feel like you know, I feel like the only person that can truly help you is your relationship with Jesus Christ And so being able to lean on him, you know, he gives you in those moments where it's tough, you know, where it's low and When you're behind the scenes and you're going through things that people don't know about He gives you he gives you that peace and comfort, you know Even in those moments man, where it's so hard that you can't you can't explain. It's like man I'm going through this, but like how am I still filled with this internal joy? You know, how do I have so much peace in this situation?

And so that's something that only Jesus Christ can give you and so Um Those guys have such a great mentality man. I might just really love their mentality especially um Q as well, you know, I talked about Wil Howard his leadership, but Quincham mentality man That boy just yeah that boy just gifted, you know, you see, you know, sometimes he put in a situation where he looked like You know, he should have negative five yards And then as soon as you know it, you know, he that running through somebody stiff arm and somebody and she just again to 10 and so Yeah Shoot I think Yeah, man, I think it's just like he's just gifted man to be honest. He's just gifted, you know, he's he's a big back You know, he's strong and so um, you know, he's he's able to do he's able to do those things and so um

Yeah, man, it's definitely you know, I look at his game and I want to you know at the same time I want to learn from Quincham, you know, I want to look at this game is like man Where working I get better at as well, you know, that's the type of player I am. I'm always looking to get better man I'm always looking to grow as a player Julian San, oh yeah, he's gonna be a great but he's gonna be a great quarterback man He's so so accurate and so um, he's definitely man. I know coach dad's definitely going to get him right Just you know, um, container grow as a leader container grow as a player and so he's going to be really good for high state Uh He's that I know just the quarterback position um, I feel like you know the quarterbacks in the past they've they've definitely been vocal And so I feel like that's something that they're definitely going to um ask him Julian San as well It's to be that vocal leader and lead the um and lead the offense and lead the team Shoot man, he has he has a build like JK Dobbins and um, I kind of see them, you know similar similarities in their game as well And I know JK Dobbins he was a great running back. Um, I feel like he's not talked about is none

Um a lot but man his career here you watch his highlights is is great. I remember um Before I recruit before I committed here. I remember watching JK Dobbins highlights like every Every um one of his years here like four or five times and so man He was such a great back and um, I feel like you know, um, when I see JK Dobbins when I see um James people I see similarities to both of their games. I feel like they play the same What's up? Appreciate you all. Yeah, I'll be going You

You You

You All I got coming in last round to the world. So I just attack every day really the same way It's a very very rare physically different. Are you weight wise body wise on that from your Oh, I think I got a lot bigger. I'm like 240. Yeah, I'm like 244 right now last year. I played it like 236 to 37 What does it feel like at 244 or belt you feel like almost a different Machine out there. Yeah, what's it? What does it feel like to be run around out there like you are but with more More bad. I just feel like I'm like like Like more downhill like stronger like I'm taking all blocks better. It's bigger. Yeah Is it daunting? Uh, maybe that's not the correct term, but to think you're going to be playing much more than you did even last year And you played quite a bit last year and stuff. What do you have to get straight in your head about being on the field that much more? Is it got to get ready to just play?

There are any more snaps. So Are you are you how would you describe how much you're looking forward to it from an instant? Yeah, I'm looking forward to it I'm ready for it. My I'm ready for it. It's open. It's a rematch So to say but it's not really two different teams compared to the last time y'all played stuff How's that enhanced this camp for you and this team getting ready for the We're an opener of that magnitude Yeah, what an opener like that we've been um with the emphasize in there a lot We know we got coming so we know we gotta do we'd be prepared for it Um, I think Riley ready to play right now. He he advanced freshman like he in the he in the book He's studying like he advanced and his measurements is crazy like he saw like the saw line to him Or you said you're ready What was that process like during last season could you feel yourself Decoming more and more ready We feel the team needed for you Yeah, because that's pretty much what my role was just whenever I was needed I had to step up

So I feel like that's what built me into me being able to say I'm ready for this year when you say ready Is it more a physical thing? Is it a mental thing when I say ready? I think it's pretty much like everything physically Mentally most of me I think I'm there Oh Oh I feel like it's uh It's a way bigger responsibility with me having to step up this year, but I kind of go about it the same way like last year. I was attention over everything I did I feel like this year it's gonna be the same thing. It's probably a little bit more And what word Uh, I say

Scrub my gun I say like when you think of me you would think of like a like a bullet like a silver bullet I don't really a bullet. I'm always on the ball. That's how I like to play and think No, I ain't ain't gotta be my nickname, but So I'm saying that the Oh, yeah, yeah Yeah Um think it fit me because I'm just like the defense. I feel like we got like you said we got a lot of freedom and we moving around a lot A lot of the times is like no, I don't know. I don't really know how to answer that I don't even know if I say that because there's a lot of thinking going on, but it's like I just like his deep I like how to do because I like what he got going on Uh

No, I wanted to much sad. I was kind of like happy for you Yeah, that's what you want No All right, that's my dog. I go so yeah kind of missing a little bit, but yeah, I'm happy for you I don't think go ahead one last but coach days talked a lot about the guys who played some last year But maybe weren't the starters and the hunger for That wasn't maybe your national championship you guys will win your own Yeah, how much do you feel that as a guy who certainly contributed last year, but we'll be in this bigger role and I Yeah, I do feel like um Yeah, I do feel like I did win a nadi last year, but like you said my role wasn't same as how's gonna be this year So yeah, I definitely want to want to go get another one experienced that like feeling maybe on the field a lot more place I

You know So competitive and we love it. We all competitive people we all love to fish each other And I feel like the springing the best side of all is feel like we're all just Kind of bouncing off each other to see what one person does and we kind of Better than the archival box and we all kind of just kind of build one great thing That idea So I definitely didn't high school I was pulled back and a little bit tired and so I feel like It kind of saw what I could do there and coach Wilson I was for you left watching it too before you left and Feel like you playing that seed and coach day's head and coach day kind of just went for it and Try to do the best I could to do it. Is that continuing now? Oh

Um, I like to think myself as a football player. I can really play any position on the field you need me to just give me a Week or two to learn it and kind of perfect it and try to do my best for you. Kid Jack. You the same thing. Oh, yeah Raffling that's why Came just talking to coach Johnson on Tuesday about some of the conversations and sort of sought you and Out to have some conversations after JT and Jack decided to come back We went into those Respected and and out of that help you maybe get the right mindset I guess Definitely kind of seeing all the way through you feel like People kind of just see what happened and they don't know everything that goes into it How long the season is now? What you got to do to prepare for and what to happen in all that time from here to to that So I feel like we definitely just coached in me kind of connected Maybe kind of just talks man-to-man and Be kind of just straight to me and I feel like We kind of both are I'm making each other better every day. We got the four best the ends five best the ends honestly

College football and we're gonna be one of the best D-rimes in football I don't feel like a better player today anymore Oh, I feel like I've taken big steps in my roles of just being Responsible and being more of a leader and kind of stepping up and taking a step to kind of get out there more on the team and kind of bring people in and I feel like we're kind of helping out more But I mean the season goes by so fast already So when you're kind of like week 10 and you're like wow, it's already week 10. So now it's kind of It's you more time to kind of enjoy it kind of save it because Yeah, definitely definitely gonna have to have the mental stability to handle all those weeks and all those practice How much is Larry talk to you guys around the field last question right here?

I mean he doesn't have to talk about it. We know about it. We see it in every day. We watch the film We see them all working together. We know what it could be. We know we could become so we know we we're right at the same At the right place at the right time and god wanted us to be here and he knew we wanted us all to come together and kind of play together And be able to bounce off and just perfect our craft together And I feel like we all are just great individuals and we come together Great plan as much so I just wanted to get like more experience under my belt So I can know bring younger guys with me because I've been One of those younger guys we're seeing Well as a workhorse he he goes take quiet you know work hard and that's what I love about he Focuses he don't really talk much. He's going to get a job done do a job right really has any mistakes

Uh a national championship I'm reading When all the games we don't want to lose anything Uh, we got a mindset that we can't be beat. We just gotta go so I think that might be different Seems like you guys expect the national championship every year this year even more so you guys have all come back for this You guys have all decided like the numbers Feel different I was definitely a difference everyone working harder um we noticed our last run like we I most of us don't have any years after this so we gotta go go bigger going home then we're not trying to go home Finish big we know what you guys think of Michigan but When you look at what they did they won the national championship and you guys Took them down to the final minute right you know what I mean? I mean you You were right there something goes a little different you guys could have been one that game against them Does that tell you anything about like that? Hey you guys want to win a national championship But you played to the 59th minute with the team that won the national championship last year like you're that close

So I'm saying uh we just like work harder. That's that's kind of coach makes uh of saying you know Nobody cares just work harder like those no one played Georgia is the same thing Last last play you know they went on the win in 90 so We just got to get over that hump at the end of the season. I think we'll be fine I'll frustrating is that you're that close against the last two national titles Uh, of course as you know it's frustrating but you can't change the outcome You can't really dwell on uh dwell on it. You just gotta you know come back and work harder do things Better than you did last year and hopefully the outcome will change Is that as you get older you kind of learn and I thought that was working hard and you always find out there's a little more Yeah, definitely. I mean that's how that's what growing up is basically in college I thought fresh me I was working as hard as I could but now I look back at it I really wasn't working hard at all compared to what I'm doing now. So just to learn anything

80 85 I mean I can It's it's all on me. I just I think it's a little higher. I was just trying to be funny, but I mean, it's all on me. I just got to run harder I think I think we I definitely can last I was just you know We got to get the young guys that come along with us. We can't play 50 snaps again. That's just too much on our bodies Just Everybody like online D line. We got to get those younger guys to play you know get that pieces on the D line and online and everywhere else So we can last Ah, yeah, I did unless we were like winning by like a lot I thought like there are no moments you know I can go sit down or something

But we're playing them big games like you know Notre Dame too or North those kind of games. I of course I wanted to be because I know I can contribute and I won't want to put that on anyone else when I know I get the job Oh, yeah, definitely came back as a came back to animal y'all you haven't really seen it yet But in practice he shows all the time. He's just He's just he's growing right now. He has to work at the kitchen. He just has to get you know in the playbook Things like that you guys are about the exact same size Listen you're both listen six three you're three twenty seven. He's three twenty six Yeah, I kind of look at him like my my junior, but you know, came in he's gonna be a great player He's got to develop more and getting to play So really a lot on you older guys. There's that large group of young guys and the seniors in the back Part of your task for this year to bring those guys Yeah, definitely we got to be leaders um like I say we got to have them play this year We can't just play all the snaps. They got to get in there and get some work And we got to get them right during the all season so they can play and I just play they want to like contribute like make plays tackles sex

Yeah, they're definitely some big dudes um and they all work hard. I'm really seeing much of something day two when I'm Pass on but throughout the workouts they've been working hard, you know, they they're determined Looks like they're ready to work This looks like I think that is definitely I think if you look at the last Couple nice and much emissary winners Seema North they didn't know they got too good Detackle two athletic detackles look at Georgia two athletic detackles I think that's definitely need if you want to go on that big run and beat those big teams They were defied by the defense attack. It's like What's George Jordan Davis and James Carter what's Michigan? It's Chris Jenkins

You understand How important defense tackles are a little bit more than they used to I think so I think they're starting to develop to develop more and more of these like freakiest detackles Yeah, like in the combine just now you see in like those guys they're moving four to four seven eights and things like that So Yeah, definitely I think I'm top notch when it comes to detackles, but I don't want to you know get a big head But you know watch the comment I watch the dude to do the drills. I have to see you like look at my show So I think I'm up there The I mean you're going Practice you're not doing as much a weapon

I mean as many as I can have I think I have more than that But I think he said it I think they didn't count some of them and Is some of them right like just missed it so but I think we work on Joe's matching the hand I think that's goes big and What we do is a D line, you know just affecting the quarter bag is Anyway, you can this is great for the defense, you know just that little thing covered is I you know he might throw it a little bit to the left for our players So it's something that you really really Because there are a few guys that I've seen Like oh that pastor I think I just have like a like a eye for the ball counter I kind of just look at the quarterback and just I see him like load up. I just try to get in his ways and sometimes he's those I mean they get frustrated by you know we're a team you know we're just getting back

I should lot of a lot of different backs man. They just learn to grow for them You gotta pick your top three bags. We have a goal right now I don't really have a top three, but I'll give you I'll give you one. I would say Sae Kwan Gibbs and I like McCaffrey auto he was injured this year. I like McCaffrey Best back in this draft. I lead out of the yard. That's y'all that's y'all decision Playing well Howard when I'm going to remember most We're Howard man. He's just such a great lead such a great leader man. It's just like in moments where you know Usually a lot of players they fold man. He was just always calm and relaxed man He just the leader that he was man. That's one thing I'm gonna remember about him Yeah, he's shoot He's gonna be really good man. He's I'm

Coastal like I think he got the transfer in as well from West Virginia just that one two punch with them both as well They're gonna be really good backs and so James people's man He's smart the way that he goes about his business man. He's mature and so man. He's growing You know just as a person in as a player and so man. Yeah Definitely Ohio State you know that running back room is in gray hands So Yeah Coach coach hard line man. He's full of energy man and um he's creative as well You know, I'm just learning from him as well. You know, um trying to run more outside the backfield It was being able to learn from coach hard line and so he's definitely creative at what he's he does And he brings a lot of energy to the team as well, and so I think that do really good Just Um just intensity man then since he did other playoffs um Every game and it's like the intensity got you know higher higher and so um, you know being a but I know in the lead

It's it's the same thing even if it's not the playoffs Just every every game and intensity it keeps getting higher and higher and so yeah You just I know you got to bring it you know each and every day and come in and work just like Ohio State You know, I definitely feel like Ohio State. I'll I'll talk to a lot of players um before then And they told me a lot of just about how much Ohio State prepared them, you know for the NFL and so yeah Yeah Yeah, I know I took a couple days off after the um National Championship and then Shoot right after that. I'm writing writing sample Florida and I'm right to it and so um Yeah, I think while trained I trained at um Yo Merch performance um, I think it's called the house of athlete or the compound now Um, they did they did a good job, man It just um bringing us in and the the way they went about training us man. They were they did a really good job

The bucket near know I haven't Tampa Tampa nice this nice. It's a nice city man really nice Uh, the 40 to broad and avert Your mentality of like when you got a line back Yeah Yeah, no, man, uh, it's really all about technique and then it's about mindset as well And so um, I say you know, it's for the love of my brother. In my game uh, you can't really work on this you know in all season I feel like it's more so you know, you got to put the pads on you got to go through some inside run You know, maybe uh, it's really just continuing to run through tackles and so that's I feel like that's one of the areas in my game You know, I want to continue to get better at I feel like I did a good job of that my senior year And so I just want to continue to build on that Yes, I did yes, I did Uh, I did meet with um new orleans as well um I never got that comparison actually um, I know I'm a comrade sure yep man I would come here great great back man um, just what he does and those 101 matchups he's dangerous man And he's so smooth. You're getting on that line backer and so Yeah, I say to man the biggest thing is the way that he carries himself man and the way that man um, he approaches the game He comes in with the monster, you know, he's gonna work every single week You know every practice, you know, he's working hard, you know, um even shoot it. I don't know every good I think he had it every game was a good game for him man And so but still man He always has the mentality to mindset that you know, he's gonna come in each and every day He's gonna continue to work and get better, man And so he's definitely man. He's gonna be a special player man. He really is I Man a lot of ups and downs man. It's just

How you respond to adversity and I feel like that's something that God has definitely helped me to do better Is this um now have something to lean on now, you know, I remember before I met him, you know, going through those adversity I had nothing to run to you know You can run to people but they still can't it's not too much they can't truly help you You know, I feel like you know, I feel like the only person that can truly help you is your relationship with Jesus Christ And so being able to lean on him, you know, he gives you in those moments where it's tough You know where it's low and um when you're behind the scenes and you're going through things that people don't know about He gives you he gives you that peace and comfort, you know Even in those moments man, where it's so hard that you can't you can't explain It's like man, I'm going through this but like how am I still filled with this internal joy? You know, how do I have so much peace in this situation? And so that's something that only Jesus Christ can give you and so

Um Man eight those guys have such a great mentality man. I might just really love their mentality especially um Q as well, you know, I talked about will Howard his leadership but Quinch on mentality man um That boy just yeah that boy just gifted you know, you see you know Sometimes he put in a situation where he looked like you know, he should have a negative five yards And as soon as you know it, you know, he that running through somebody step on somebody and she was again a 10 it's uh Um, shoot I think Yeah, man, I think it's just like he's just gifted man to be honest. He's just gifted You know, he's he's a big back. You know, he's strong and so um, you know, he's he's able to do he's able to do those things And so yeah, man, it's definitely you know, I look at his game and I want to you know at the same time I want to learn from Quinch on you know, I want to look at this game is like man Where where can I get better at as well? You know, that's the type of player I am. I'm always looking to get better man I'm always looking to grow as a player

Julian San. Oh, yeah, he's gonna be a great but he's gonna be a great quarterback man He's so so accurate and so um, he's definitely man. I know coach day is definitely going to get him right Just you know, um, container grow as a leader container grow as a player and so he's going to be really good for high state Uh, he's that I know just the quarterback position um, I feel like you know the quarterbacks in the past They've they've definitely been vocal and so I feel like that's something that they're definitely going to um Ask them Julian San as well. It's to be that vocal leader and lead the um and lead to offensive lead to steam Shoot man, he has he has a bill like JK Dobbins and um, I kind of see them, you know similar similarities in their game as well And I know JK Dobbins he was a great running back. Um, I feel like he's not talked about his know Um, a lot but man his career here you watch his highlights is is great. I remember um Before I recruit before I committed here. I remember watching JK Dobbins highlights like every

Every um one of his years here like four or five times and so man, he was such a great back And um, I feel like you know when I see JK Dobbins when I see um James people I see similarities to both of their games I feel like they play the same and so appreciate you all y'all You You

You You You You All I got coming in last I knew we're all so I just tacked every day really the same way

It's a very very rare Oh, I think I got a lot bigger. I'm like 240 you know like 240 for right now last year I played it like 236 to 37 I just feel like I'm like Like more downhill like stronger like I'm taking all blocks better. It's bigger. Yeah Is it daunting? Uh, maybe that's not the correct term but to think you're going to be playing much more than you did Even last year and you played quite a bit last year instead of what do you have to get straight in your head about being on the field that much more This is gotta get ready to just play there. He more snaps. So Are you are you how would you describe how you how much you're looking forward to it from an age? I'm looking forward to it. I'm ready for it. My I'm ready for it

Two different teams Yeah, we're open like that we've been emphasizing in a lot of we know we got coming so we know we gotta do we prepare for it I think rally ready to play right now he he advanced freshman like he in the he in the book he stood in like he advanced and his measurements crazy like he saw like saw What was that process like during last season could you feel yourself The coming more and more ready The team needed Yeah, because that's pretty much what my role was just whenever I was needed I had to step up so I feel like that's what built me into Me being able to say I'm ready for this year when you say ready is it more A physical thing is it a mental thing when I say ready? I think it's pretty much like everything physically mentally Most of me I think I'm there

That's the one more time Oh I feel like it's uh it's a way bigger responsibility with me having to step up this year, but I kind of go about it the same way like last year. I was intentional with everything I did I feel like this year it's gonna be the same thing. It's probably a little bit more It won't work I say Scrub my game I say like when you think of me you think of like a like a bullet like a silver bullet I don't really do bullet. I'm always on the ball. That's how I like to play and think No, I ain't ain't gotta be my nickname, but

And Um think it fit me because I don't know. I just like the defense. I feel like we got like you said we got a lot of freedom and we're moving around a lot A lot of the times is like no, I don't know. I don't really not answer that I don't even know if I say that because there's a lot of thinking going on, but it's like I just like it's deep. I like how to put it deep because I like what you got going on Uh No, I wanted to much sad. I was kind of like happy for you No No, that's my dog. I don't see it kind of missing a little bit, but yeah, I'm happy for you All right, well don't think go ahead one last but coach days talked a lot about the guys who played some last year But maybe weren't the starters and the hunger for That wasn't maybe your national championship you guys will win your own

Yeah, how much do you feel that as a guy who certainly contributed last year? But we'll be in this bigger role and along some of your Your Yeah, I do feel like um Yeah, I do feel like I did win a nadi last year, but like you said my role wasn't Same as how's my beat is here. So yeah, I definitely want to want to go get another one experience that like feeling we'll need be on the field lot more place Championship in Nican, you know before and everything like that and Also need to get your teeth knocked in, you know first game and you know can't have that happen because I don't you know Really doesn't mean anything and so just the constant mindset to continually get better But on the forefront of my mind and forefront of anyone Here you can ask Yeah Yeah, I know we uh we look at the uh class stats every now and then I can be like oh man. They're gone. They're gone No, it's been um, it's been good. I mean the guys who are still here. I'm as I've definitely kind of bonded together pretty good

Yeah Yeah, I mean Mark came in the other day is like That class 21 best class ever and like yeah sure, okay, you know I can't really can't really even you know just sitting to that, you know, not much left, but um Yeah, I mean to do what we can and do what we can for this team has been really important for all of us and I think um us Now realizing where the veterans, you know, like with all guys now in the group has been um kind of strange at least to begin with You know because you go from All those guys you like Donnie and Josh and those guys and all of sudden it's Sunday. We have a team meeting after the Like the celebration the shoe and all of sudden the next day there's gone and you know, it's just very different So I think us being able to step up as you know leaders and as as vets to help bring out, you know along the team our units and This program has been really important

Yeah No, it could spend doing really well. I mean I could go and he goes to work He's extremely athletic extremely flexible Um, you know, he's a young kid obviously he's a lot of um a lot of development a lot of he's a little adversity at all of us do Um, and I think he's going through that right now, but he's been um coming out on the better end of it so foreign Um excited to see what he can do because he's very impressive at this young stage Yeah, extremely excited. I mean Trying to just build that culture back up again, you know like what we had last year I we're trying to do a little stuff here in there and I can know I think we're going to Ray raise a barbecue. I think tomorrow So shout out Ray raise, but um, but yeah, I just trying to get that brotherhood back get that you know that oblock spirit back

sure it's coming soon hopefully but just to kind of get those Uh, not those same faces with those same kind of mindsets back and our our group is important right now And it's it's been fun to meet new guys from different backgrounds and stuff like that um and try to Figure out how to you know build that and mend that together. It's been pretty cool. Now as you are one of the most experienced veterans on this team How much do you feel like you have to be a leader for the students here? Yeah, for sure. I mean, I think that comes um I it's obviously I don't feel like it's natural to anyone to you meet to least step up and that's something I've been working on Every day and talking to God about But I have to understand that and that's something I want to continue to work on. I want to be able to um Be a guy that people can fall back on and like coach was saying before like we're gonna have highs in those But the great players the ones being set our clocks to and I kind of want that's my goal as to be one of those people that you can do that um And I think for especially a very new set of eyes um in the woody

Not only coaches but players um, I think it's very important to kind of keep that steady mindset and I think for me learning how to be a leader has been important just uh Not be too hard on myself, but also not let myself kind of slack off in some departments. They try to keep um steady Just your story itself though is Testament Of what it means to like for perseverance is tough too though right car some mean You know, that's sir that's gonna have to stand up from somebody to say that right? I mean just Yeah, what do you what do you think you've shown more than anything else in every card? Yeah, I mean, I've been blessed You know, I've you know, I've been blessed with a lot of adversity. I think that's definitely maybe better on the back end and You know Coach to it coach day only talks about it and you don't You know great leaders aren't you know, they can show it but you know a lot of people can show it a lot of people can just talk about it But to be about it is important and I think To be enough went through a lot of that adversity. I went through a lot of that stuff and um My testament you know has been um written in an interesting way

But I think for me to take that next step is really important for not only for this team but for myself personally Yeah, he's been doing great. I mean he came in um Big freaking strong. He's fun to be in the weight room with uh, he's uh He's kind of quiet look like that's kind of my first impression on but he's actually pretty funny dude He and his dad come over in the kind of joke around So he's been doing a great job. All right. I can't talk he's been doing a great job Um for his size. He has like freaky athletic feet like I watch him do the ladders and I That's a lot of massive overrun on those things, you know doing a little itch shuffle But I mean he he was killing it and so he's been doing a great job. I can't wait to see How he kind of continues to develop um throughout this summer and throughout this fall camp Yeah, Piggy's been doing great. I mean he uh He stepped up piggy. Yeah. Yeah, everyone refers to this piggy is his username one time nice everyone's piggy But anyway, um, you know pigs been doing great. He uh

He's been able to step up and kind of bring around along those younger guys You know, everyone's kind of trying to figure out their their new roles and I think he's been uh He's been doing a lot of things big body guy that he catch the bar can run between the tacos Um His feet are quicker than once you think for a big guy Yeah, really good feet you get balanced so best for me I Well, tight end background now. I don't know many with that type of background But he's a high school. We see that they try to play as an age back Well When you look in the portal for Actually, we try to recruit running backs. Does it matter to you if you have two different styles of running backs Maybe one guy can do certain things better one guy can do Or is it you'll just say the best running back you can find you want to have different style Guys with different

Whether they're big guys small guys Catchers in between I don't want to say I Know I had drawing James at the world He's my Running show y'all In probably way to two ten or twelve. I wish it's not very big But then you got to do it again. You know some guys you got to know so sticking about his own You play with a lot of aggression down here running And that could be CJA that could be James or we could be the freshman. No Jackson You know, it's just who has a nose for giving his own But that's that's what I'm over in Just because you're being there

We need to get obviously you know fresh running back to him and then But what do you need to see from a freshman to feel comfortable with that In the first day with it on the ball Well, they would they do the little small detail. They take care of the ball The second game will be all good Passport because it's the hardest thing by school best because they're not really hearing high school Do you have to understand the passport by all their files on who? So like So that's why I need to see first You feel comfortable with with oh and then I say where they're at or at least you know where their time is Yeah, I think they're gonna find I like say I tell all the young guys is a marathon The first day first you've been to earn a spot on special teams. No, you earn spot specials to you Then they you earn the right to be a buck out So they get out down the field so

No, I think they're training the right first practice Like it wasn't married so to build off Good yeah Long day Have you seen some of the younger guys in your room develop? I think about like Etrick Houston is coming in this year seeing him working with you guys Joshua making sounds to you coming I feel like they're definitely picking up quick. I mean I was in their shoes one time and I had Zach Harrison and Javonte and Tyler Freidel in front of me, so I feel like I'm just trying to be kind of one of those peers that they work for me And kind of just giving them the steps to get there and I feel like they're definitely picking up quick And they're definitely going to be one of the great Russian

After champs Um, I feel like all the camps I've definitely gotten a big course learn and I love that side as coach j4 I love getting more reps because I just like protecting my craft so I mean Some people may not need it some other people needed but I mean it's like you as me I mean for me it's always just kind of getting my little details perfectly like my steps my footing Kind of just affecting my toolbox is what we call it my craft and just trying to be a So I can win every place what kind of Yeah, um definitely just getting stronger faster everything all the above But uh one of my big things is being leader and kind of just not trying to look still look up to jack and jatine kind of Have my own kind of leadership and be able to bring people into so I feel like kind of have a lot of leaders on the b-line At the d-in position so we kind of all kind of just counts off the chiller and others

Um, they've edited and we love it. We all competitive people. We all live with each other And I feel like the screen and the best side of all is I feel like we're all just Kind of bouncing off each other to see what one person does and to kind of build it into our toolbox and we all kind of just Kind of build one great So I definitely did it in high school. I was pulled back and a little bit excited And so I feel like it kind of saw what I could do there and coach Wilson honestly he loved watching it too before he left and I feel like he planned that seed and coach day's head and coach day kind of just went for it and I tried to do the best I could to do it. Is that continuing now? Oh New playbook I did not know you haven't got that far Um, I like to think myself as a football player. I can really play any position on the field you need me to just give me a

Weakertu to learn it and kind of perfect it and try to do my best for you. Kid Jack you the same thing. Oh, yeah Graphically that's why He's talking to coach Johnson on Tuesday about some of the conversations So aside you and out to answer conversations after JT and Jack decided to come out Just better wait into those for your perspective and how did that help you maybe get the right mindset against Um, definitely kind of seeing it all the way through I feel like people kind of just see what happened and they don't know everything that goes into it How long the season is now? What you got to do to prepare for and what happened and all that time from here to to then So I feel like we definitely just coached in me kind of connected Maybe kind of just talks man-on-man and Be kind of just straight to me and I feel like You kind of both are pretty honest and we know we're making it yada making each other better every day We got the four best the ends five best the ends honestly College football and we're gonna be one of the best you guys in football

Oh, I feel like I've taken big steps in my roles of just being Responsible and being more of a leader and kind of stepping up and taking a step to kind of get out there more on the team And kind of bring people in and I feel like I'm kind of helping out more I Mean sounds bizarre, but I mean the season goes by so fast already so when you're kind of like week 10 and you're like wow It's already weekend so now it's kind of give you more time to kind of enjoy it kind of save it because I mean Yeah, definitely definitely gonna have to have the mental stability to handle all those weeks all those practices I mean he doesn't have to talk about it. We know about it. We see it in every day

We watch the film we see them all working together. We know what it could be we know we could become so we know we We're right at the same we're at the right place at the right time and god one of us to be here He knew me one of us all to come together and kind of play together and be able to bounce off and Just perfect our craft together and I feel like we all are just great individuals and become together I feel like I've made the plays that came to me and that's where the awking and control Had more opportunities as he years progressed and been in spots to be here on the ball um But the expectation was to come here and contribute to the team and try to help find a way to Push the team to win games at high level And to be better than They were actually and for me to play better than I was actually I so really just coming to try to grow with myself and with the team So that was my big goal and I feel like

I've done a good job and the team has done a good job progressing through the game getting better So yeah, so I'm excited about that We're here to the right to make a lot of money, bro Yeah, I feel she's standing here right now. This is still like like a different season What does it feel like for you going into the playoffs? You know, y'all didn't get the goal you wanted necessarily to make your season but here you are You know, right? I mean, what what is that sense that you have right now? That's different About the great season I mean everybody wants to say it's a new season in terms of Because if everybody's more zero and zero right now you be when you keep going if you lose your done So I mean, but genuinely like that's how you play every game You know that play every game like it's your last game So for me, I don't think it's really any difference because you have to go play at high level every game That can't be based at home Um, so I would say in terms of that no, you just have to play the game and play the game this day

What feels difficult about this defense right now going into this no y'all feel even more Finally, you know, look by tight. I mean close together. What with this? I mean, what was your sense of The further hood so to speak of the defense um, I feel like we progressed throughout this season We didn't make a change after Game six because we lost and we didn't play well like a minute. I feel like we've grown from that and got into a better place and Over these past two weeks off just Realizing okay, these are the things that we messed up throughout the year These are what we need our face these are what this team is trying to exploit on us So just really going back to everything seeing what can do better for this kind of game or for the next coming Let's have a question I'm The I feel like it makes the game more I mean, you're receiving the DVDs at the place that we're getting the guys up front

And it makes it truthfully like those guys have to do their job when these guys have to do your job You gotta be able to stop the run with the people you have in the run fit and yet to be able to stop their path with the people they have out there So that's that's what they do and they do it. I really leave them So All right, it allows you to get your clear senator So earlier just a ability to see the formation see what keys that you have before the play and have knowledge of your job And not really thinking being able to play and I think during the games are a big thing So whenever you can get the call that faster and play a high-level and play without

So I definitely didn't high school. I was pulled back and a little bit tired And so I feel like it kind of saw what I could do there and coach Wilson honestly he left watching it to poor he left and Feel like you playing that seed and coach day's head and coach day kind of just went for it and try to do the best I could to do it Do anything new play about guy to not know you haven't got that far Um, I like to think myself as a football player. I can really play any position on the field you need me to just give me a Weak or two to learn it and kind of perfect it and try to do my best for you. Can you check me the same thing? Oh, yeah Graphically that's why Can you just talking to coach Johnson on Tuesday about some of the conversations and sort of side you in there Out to have some conversations after JT and Jack decided to come back We're going into those Um definitely kind of seeing it all the way through I feel like people kind of just see what happened and they don't know everything that goes into it how long the season is now

What you got to do to prepare for and what to happen and all that time from here to to then So I feel like we definitely just coached getting me kind of connected We kind of just talks man-o-man and Be kind of just straight to me and I feel like We kind of both are Making each other better every day. We got the four best the ends five best the ends honestly And then college football and we're going to be one of the best D lines in college football Better play today anymore Oh, I feel like I've taken big steps in my rules of just being responsible and being more of a leader and kind of stepping up and taking a step to kind of get out there more on the team They kind of bring people in and I feel like I'm kind of helping out more I I Mean sounds bizarre, but I mean the season goes by so fast already So when you're kind of like week 10 and you're like wow, it's already week 10. So now it's kind of Gives you more time to kind of enjoy it kind of save it because

I mean Yeah, definitely definitely gonna have to have the mental stability to handle all those weeks and all those practices I mean he doesn't have to talk about it. We know about it. We've seen it every day We watched the film we see him all working together. We know what it could be. We know we could become So we know we we're right at the same right place at the right time and god wanted us to be here He knew we wanted us all to come together and kind of play together and be able to bounce off and just perfect our craft together And I feel like we all are just great individuals and we come together Great you get like good coaches who believe in you and like they give you the tools to go out there and just play with confidence You know not they're doubting those stuff like you got your teammates who got your back like my first play when I got up there to See like when to sail I G.B. In a germane like first thing they say is like no where you just go out there play with confidence You know the tools is usual tools is go out there and make a play and we're about to play coming to you

Now we're just so time to show job and just do it and then like Same goes why he gives me He puts me in a position like like the drills we put in the work you put in the 101 So just go out there and just perform at the highest level. How much better are you right now? Then maybe last month and force break right? I mean, I got way better just because I've transitioned a little bit to the inside Nicholas Fawcett like now I'm essentially like catch catch technique and is And often preppers not it's not always press at the line So it's like now maybe like move my feet move my hands like See like what I gotta do just like just a case. I gotta go back in corner. I can I'm playing off now. I'm very confident out there Do you think that that was a natural fit for you or have you had the kind of To get yourself the transition around? I mean, I feel like it's natural for me because I feel like me Individually, I'm a fast learner fast learner like coaches help us like learn fast I'm like because they're always honest about the techniques and stuff So you like you play down like you pick up on all the things And then like when we get out here they coaches to like the techniques always you just go out there and play like fast spot

And it's been like it would like reversitilly. You're able to just go out there and just compete Is that where you kind of stuff this spring or do you get kind of mountain? So I'm really been stuck there this spring a little bit Whenever you get us like other things I just bounce out there every once in a while Just like have fun See if I still got it every once in a while So this is good to go out there to compete at most spots You mentioned the technique what technique you know tips and things that you had to pick up and learn from What you're from taking the answer. I mean, this is always like you are Because what which is the ass you hands like see it You see it move your feet and then get your hands with your hands on the man So it's like when you be like Are you out there you able to like process like the way the receiver come off the ball looking at the hips and seeing like the way he moving Are you able to pick up like the row constant you can get out of that like so it's being like other coach walls for me Like as a player and just like him breaking out football to you like one-on-one It's like very beneficial

Really say like the corner you got your cover two you cover three each or cover one us like it's easy And you got nickel now so many responsibilities you got to see like the row concepts You got to be able to process fat like dying those rows faster than what you got to do in that corner and just be able to like everything Quit like a transition. You got like you got to move fast And move fast is like game recognition I'll definitely say I'll definitely say yes because how you get to like college? Just a little bit different my high school. We don't got to worry about things like that when I want you to get some like college or school like this Like your recognition of plays And like you know your jobs the way like the coverage is supposed to be played understand all your teammates or plus if you have them feel like it is easy Very talented Is it great? Do's a humble. We's a humble guy great teammate very supportive as I can guide that you don't want to wrong because You can feed off your energy because you can see like we make it play he's like he like IGB

It's like IGB 2.0 so he's like When you get off the window like that with good energy, it makes you play a little bit harder And then like when you make a play it's out there and I'm just helping you like it's being out there with him He's a good player one of those guys question So now what is it about one bill that gets you to play at a high school? It's a big question I know I'm just a bit wasteful because we have so many kids come out of global and just play at games I lead like school was and then like like tracks a big part of it because I mean like to be actually in a global everybody that I run track like it's minutes right You don't really get a choice To be able to just like get out here and like know how to compete and then like G like Game builds that mental toughness into you so like Have you like if you're down you got to be mentally tough because I mean Life's not going to be easy. So it's like being out here You know we could pee when you down just pick yourself back up. I mean that's what he has done for me

I know we asked why? Did you how would you describe the mentality of the defense right now? It's opportunity for a rematch the board in yeah hungry. Thank you I mean, we know how the last last time when you know we uh we had a chip on our shoulder I mean we're riding high before that game and we took that loss and we came back Had to make a couple changes, but I think we understand what you know everything's that stick right now I mean, oh just fighting to where another house they jersey for next game That's what's on stake and just to be able to represent this this uh this state and this uh this team I mean we understand what's as uh what's on the line and you know We're just hungry and blessed that we get this opportunity to play in the Rose Bowl Right behind your Adam King W. Bannes What do you remember most about walking off the field in Eugene? What was kind of lost your mind in that moment? I mean there was a I don't think anybody imagined it imagine us losing um you know I didn't That's for sure and I think after that it was uh kind of head deep I understand it that man we still there's still a lot of ball left to be played

I mean you can let it sting for a little bit But you know if you let it carry over too long then you know there there goes there goes your whole Season by I think we did a great job of just understanding coming together in this room right here um not being afraid to display um or hold accountability for one another and you know as as that happened He came back we grouped and you know we're just You're going right now um and and I'm just blessed for those specific moments, you know losing I mean no one wants to lose but the the testimonies and the things you're taught within those little situations speaks of all him Jay what did you see from King? Yeah, I mean that's that's my boy he's in the r2x club too but um you know Kiata I mean every time his his numbers call he goes out there and makes the most of it no matter uh

Where where we at in the game when he goes out there he's just hungry He wants to go make plays and and you know we see it and practice those it's not surprising to us Bill Rebino, it's a bonus this back Still in Gabriel's obviously very elusive and he's not very tall How important it could be to just kind of stay in your Past rush lanes and then collect a lot of balls and kind of make a difference that way Yeah, I think it just comes on being disciplined No one who you're playing against like you said don't he's a he sure but he's very elusive I mean he can He is making throws. I mean he get out the parking do everything um so I think for us we just got to discipline and just continue to just Meet with coach Jay me with the coach knows and understand how we can uh just eliminate that What should about you and jack? I mean Your personality seem to be a little different you more on the quiet side. He's How about you play together four years both five store guys kind of describe your relationship with him Friendship with him. Yeah, just kind of how you cop with each other man. That's uh ask my brother like he said

We're different but very alike um think outside on like you said he's louder. I'm quiet But you know once we're on that field like the same person We'll do anything for this team. You know, we'll die for our players and we'll give everything we got Room together for four years correct. Yeah fall camp Yeah, sometimes go over there. So go over there We have our share of days when we when I'm neat. He's neat or you know, we might both be messy, but we do a good job Yeah, I'd probably have a better kick in the jack though When you're playing a team for the second time and that was almost a season to go by now How much of are you at square one with with the scouting and preparation or how much do you take in that game? How much do you avoid taking so that you don't have any preconceived notions of what you're going up against? The offense flying I say it's pretty 50 50. I mean uh that game like you said it was it was a while ago

But at the same time they elevated as a team and so did we so we understand that they they had they made some changes for sure You know, there's team there's a certain density we can take back from that game But we also understand that um they went on a little run after that and we can see that they elevated as an offense So we just got to continue to watch those games dissect the other games and just continue to see um What stands out and what they change from the for the past game We got a couple calls on on zoom that will wrap up with first. We have Nick Hamilton from nightcast media Nick Uh Was wanted to ask you basically about the synergy of this defense and how you guys were able to Not only celebrate the triumphs but get through the adversity be able to be this top notch defense that you are a college football today Uh Here you get the question one more time. Yeah, no problem Want to ask you about the synergy you are we're able to develop over course of the season obviously celebrating the triumphs

But also getting through the adversities to where you go all all the top notch defense that you all are today Yeah, I mean like you said that we went through a lot of trials to trials But there's also there's a lot of things we can take away from all the wins and losses Um and from those those wins we understood that hey we can be the best defensive country and from those losses We understand that there's still Things that need to be fixed and I think when you take all that in at once um That comes out to the the common goal or the common talk, which is you can there's always learning points everywhere and Depending how we dissect those games or how we just continue to come as one and elevate You know, we we continue to just Collect all those those learning points and just continue to grow from them And you want to find a question Joey Coffin Columbus dispatch Joey JT uh what have what have you guys done better and the Especially in the Tennessee game and just latinist season you think about turning some of the the pressures that you've got on a quarterbacks in the sacks and getting a home in some of those situations

Yeah, I think it was more just uh understanding the defense as a whole understanding everybody's job Think as the season went on we get to understand that you know, we have to know what's going on in the back And we know it's going on to align back recruits to understand uh What plays we have room of freedom and I think once we understood that and got a better understanding of the of everybody's job I mean it it showed this play because you know everybody knows we're each other's doing it's not like the linebackers know what they're doing Uh the corners and be I they know only their job. I think we all know each other's job and we continue to ask each other questions Um on you know, if they're listening how they can get to the quarterback and you know if I'm dropping Playing quarterbacks by I can ask Cody on how to open field tackle So, you know, we just we just kind of lean on each other's understanding because uh, you know Like I said like Denzel knows how to play corner better than I know how to play corner So, you know, he has more more wisdom at that position than I do JT. Thank you very much. Thank you Especially the moments like that in the ball time

Uh definitely a little bit of both Um Obviously, I just wanted the team to win. I think we got a chance to win No, definitely towards it and then stretch that last drive Uh, I was a couple plays here a couple calls that he made me should have gotten but um I think the frustration more so it just comes from no one's into win or anything You said he was a little surprised how much attention you got right away from your defense. How about you? Yeah, definitely. We maybe killed a more one-on-ones kind of how the game plan was set up um Getting about like different covers out of cloud to my side and this is kind of how the game goes What's the process been? Where whatever reason just just see that Yeah, definitely um, especially in college a lot of the game friends defensively were taking the away um, you know, he had a lot of success at a high-speed One of the boys having different um the weapons and kind of still get the victories and Um, I was yet you continue to do better jobs when I hear My motivation the process has been like post-game

Getting on the same page with Kyler Just you guys exchange text or you guys Yeah film definitely um kind of asking what did I see there kind of go where to play and um That's how I get him what I saw and kind of different feedback there Change words mark. I get it. We're asking questions about the previous game bar Are you the type of guy to let a game like that winger or how do you flush it? You got to move on kind of move on some long season Got what 16 more of them. Hopefully no, I can stay healthy throughout the year and Just continue to build and get better each week Okay, did so much work throughout the offseason to get on the same page how different is it when you get into that Bring it to season 10. Yeah, it's totally different. It's totally different You can do a lot of things know in shirts and shorts and then once you go out there put practice and get pads on You do like the point practice we do with the colds, but there's nothing like actually going out there Not in live action and really trying to be on the same case so I think that relationship Continue to develop Yeah, definitely um like I said, I was kind of my first live action together

So can we continue with when your early impressions on the field together and Yeah, but now obviously I have a death respect no jg's call or preseason and obviously be also really healthy That's kind of best the most important thing that obviously get all healthy and going for it so Marvin your early impressions of the Rams What do you think of the Rams? Yeah, I mean they're a good team. They're good physical team. I got a new lot of new guys upfront I think that's kind of where they're strong suit is um kind of a little different to Buffalo come over a little match coverage So I'm excited to build this Wasn't many of them Wasn't many of them so Bethlehem you could I'm just where you thinking versus just playing you know not getting a preseason Game actually into the box because definitely definitely thinking a lot out there and um You know, I think I'll come with reps think to think and less and just going out there and playing definitely come of reps

And it's something you know I'll get better at but They definitely say I was thinking a lot up there Yeah, I mean you just got to team you get open for You know yourself making yourself available on the one the ball does can't wait making the play Um this He's just taking you away. I mean for the guys are having a chance to get open Oh, that's not kind of how I look at it. It's no longer since you know offense Hopefully sooner or later I think I'll continue to see we'll see I don't think we're in a bad place right now at all. Obviously. I don't really think that But uh just a live reps will continue to grow and show Somebody else maybe you know like And practice at least like the positive you know, I mean so but He the energy yeah, we're beyond just though hyper the beyond So I was kind of how

Go on living my whole life on again. I felt Team captain like specifically and I felt I wasn't a captain in high school Wasn't a captain in college But I want to make a joke That would be awesome, you know, but you know happens up you great, but not either way I want to assume the world as a captain from Perspective the guys on TV video words and get back to that point. Yeah, I mean I can't say that um I mean, I guess the biggest thing is that I felt like how You used to pass but it didn't take just the first LTAs it took Train and left and right once this season because I know what was gonna be true So a lot reps Just to give back to feeling like myself for day one

And then that whole first week, but now like today specifically just changing some small things with my feet that visits I come up along coach Things that do my feet to get to that to sell my nutritional angle that I love to sit on Thought even I thought I felt I thought I felt great already but I felt even better So I need more excited tomorrow now get on my feedback and how I like the right side and on the left side So I'm excited. I mean obviously I feel like In the league whether I left the right you're still going against premier guys Obviously your high expectations for the left and right tackle but um, there's definitely like the A level of energy Expectations definitely taking the human Because now tonight the blind side that's the as the tackle world you know, so So yeah, I would say in terms of communication as far as this even outside of the facility Just stuff like that like really creating that but tackle core value You

Yeah, I've been training both I've been training both you know, I asked after the season there like honestly You know, we'll talk you some free season and I just got a text I have this with the free agency Then so I was like you know what I have old season right tackle So if I get the word I'm going I'm standing right tackle I did before I build on that bus I was I was trying to let tackle now As if we're gonna be left tackle And I'd rather do that than train on right time with the color You know what I mean so I'm like, let me just prepare an advance and I was like yeah, it's got you know I think occasionally on third down there be a lot of twists I was just not like it's automatic And I think that was my mindset for like the first half of the season Like I didn't have to go into game with surprise like oh my gosh, I did that. I tried to figure it right okay This is this is the type of rush man again. This is how this guy usually rushes

If I get the vibe this is how the ends like the rush you know Tackles that first year guys you got the premier patch on Already know what it was gonna be already know every stud and honestly just knowing that's kind of an advantage So you're not you're not you're not oh the brother twist my side It was never air gone You know what I mean, so I want you more everybody else and you really you know it goes out there on occasional third down Me you know what I mean so Fact it's kind of it's also kind of the energy away, but it's also exciting like okay, I'm gonna get the You know So it's a real real rest Really out on our way to kind of process And I was like hey when I tell me But let me know about I'm just gonna train it. I was training all left To TAs. I guess if I didn't hear anything about tays out of came in like

So you know what I mean Cuz just like I'm cool with training both continue. I would have been cool training both continually But I feel like anybody any position will be like okay like you want us as soon as possible Is But they're definitely but in terms of the development It's definitely faster Stand on one side, but I think having that the weeks that we had the transitional seasons over You know Go try to get up put up When it comes back I'm gonna show them the house. I've got a house not too far from So I told them I got that house like I got a yellow side

That's that's not having you stock or anything doesn't mean anything so We're we have to play on Friday and that's really all that matters We're gonna take two more from zoom before turning it back a first one's gonna come from Stephen from pleveland.com Go ahead The fine. I'm sorry Hey Caleb We've seen you were talking about the Ohio State Office the success that they've had Obviously Jeremiah has been a big part of that. What's it been like this year going against him in practice and you know after doing that There's a surprise at all to see him having a success. He's had as a freshman No, it doesn't bring surprises It was pretty pretty easy to see the talent that he has and the blessings that God has put on his plate But it's always a it's always a challenge going against Jeremiah and the other receivers and mecca and carnival practice And even guys like Brandon and his impression Rogers. They they do a great job bringing looks for the defense Create a lot of obstacles I'll find a question from zoom is gonna come from Dan hoop

Go ahead Dan Hey, love you Quinn had a lot of success against you guys when you played him at Alabama last year Just what do you remember from going up against him last year and what can you learn from that game? Really smart quarterback knows how to operate their offense Puzzle ball in the right places and then uh coast arkies and does a great job putting him in positions to win All right back to you. Yep. Thank you Rob all our Columbus dispatch Caleb GT and jack land opposite sides are they is opposite off the field as they are on in terms of personality and just People they are They're offices, but they uh, they're also like One of the closest people I know they spend a lot of time together um They've come from different sides of the country so they're different people for sure, but they're both Really great people are really great men Um, sorry spec both

Um I'm not gonna do that. I'm sorry Throughout the throughout the season we would always see you on like Wednesday nights you and latin would be some of the last people off the field Uh for the things that you're working on after practice always the same is it a routine? What are the things that you're hoping to get out of those extra moments after practice? Uh, it's a routine pretty much the the keys that we need to go into the game with and then also changes Week to week on based on what our jobs are gonna put us into doing um, so Every week we go through the same things and then we add certain things that we do for the week for the what the team that we play is gonna ask us Yeah, I promise Bill we've been with Columbus this batch. Yeah, I already got one here. Oh, okay. Uh, Joey Gothman club is this batch Killin one Texas uses play action and they use action to prepare but what's what do they do? Well, and those spots and most things you guys in those moments with Quinn

They uh they do a really good job with iKandy Um, and it creates a lot of challenges for defense in order to see if it's runner pass and see um Because that's when they're gonna take their shots to as well So really just having great eye discipline seeing the line and seeing what is telling us um, so that's Miss what it does Hey, you guys had a pretty good game plan for Tyler Warren when you guys play him You guys have another Texas has a good tight end and gunner. Um, what do you guys gonna have to do to limit him and how to what do you think about his game? Uh, he's a really good player. He makes a lot of plays and he's Has a lot of Receiving ours this year So really just do the same thing we've done all year just Be disciplined in our responsibilities and if you're on them you gotta make a play when it comes Right When you get their receivers is kind of a whole you know they spread ball around

Really good athletes. I play with Isaiah Bond last year who's a really great receiver A lot of speed um, and then all their receivers have made a lot of plays So I mean everybody has to be on that peasy cues if we're gonna Stop them and have a do a really good job Uh, brother on here. Tim may let him grow. Yeah, kill but you moved up here I don't have to tell you when you move it basically year ago and stuff It was a little bit of a leap of faith because you know you know how Many athletes are on this team get athletes to stuff Why did you really feel this defense come into its own and then then pass that man watching in Rosebow you You're recognition of what was coming seem to be on point did it feel like that? I mean you personally Um, I think the defenses played really well throughout the season I think we've had games where we played better and games where we haven't put it all together, but I think that's how all defenses are So I can't say there's a certain moment where I think we put it together

um But Was it second party question? You seem really on point uh Against Oregon about recognizing what was what was coming. I mean you were really active out there Directing and things like that did it feel like that? I guess I feel like As Luke said earlier the preparation that we put in goes into that and just feeling comfortable And what we're doing comfortable and what we're seeing with the other teams. I feel like that's a That allows us to play fast and Uh me and Laketon to communicate to everybody else Did I miss anyone for questions here Steve how long in front of you? Yeah, Caleb, but you came to high state to play for national championship and there were a lot of ups and downs throughout the season Just to be in this position the last four teams still live just you feel validated by that and did you always have Faith that this is how it was gonna turn out. I came to a high state to become a better player and to help the team be as good as it can be not to When a national championship not like that wasn't the only goal for me coming here

Really just wanted to be in the team and be my be with the brotherhood But it's a it's a great feeling being in the final four and being with the team and Everything that comes with that, but it's a blessing to be here And one final question, Boer, Ben, what's the club is this guy? Yeah, I did a lot of follow up when I talked to At that game you said when they scored there first and second touchdown You were really hot on the sidelines. What was what was your message to the team and you know that's a good offense They're gonna score against most kids. Why were you so hot really just because we didn't execute which let them score so We've done that a lot which is something we can't do in these big games and these games where It's winter go home. So we got to make the plays when they come and Got our competitive excellence as coach Dases make the play where your numbers call Caleb, thank you very much I feel like they're definitely picking up quick. I mean, I was in their shoes one time and I had Zach Harrison, Javonte and Tyler Friedell in front of me So I thought I'm just trying to be kind of one of those peers that they were for me and kind of just giving them the steps to get there

And I feel like they're definitely picking up quick and they're definitely gonna be one of the great rushmen You I feel like all the camps I've definitely gotten a big course learned and I love that so I asked coach J4 I love getting more reps because I just like protecting my craft So I mean some people may not need it some other people needed but I mean I'm just like you as me I mean for me it's always just kind of getting my little details perfectly like my steps my footing Kind of just perfecting my toolbox is what we call it in the craft and just trying to be a So I can win every play some kind of

Yeah, um definitely just getting stronger faster everything all they but but one of my big things is being leader And kind of just not trying to look still look up to Jack and JT and kind of have my own kind of leadership and be able to And people in there so I feel like kind of have a lot of leaders on the D line at the B-In position So we kind of all kind of just pounds off the chair and kind of Um, it's very competitive and we love it You're all competitive people we all look at Christian Jeathers and I feel like the spring and the best side of all is I feel like we're all just kind of bouncing off each other to see what one person does and to kind of build it into our toolbox and we all kind of just kind of build one great thing

So I definitely did it in high school. I was pulled back and a little bit tired and so I feel like It kind of saw what I could do there and coach Wilson honestly you love watching it too before you left and Feel like you playing that seed in coach Day's head and coach Day kind of just went for it and Try to do the best I could to do it. Is that the chin ring now? Oh Um, I like to thank myself as a football player. I can really play any position on the field you need me to just give me a Weakertu to learn it and kind of perfect it and try to do my best for you. Kid Jack you the same thing. Oh, yeah Graphically that's why Kids is talking to coach Johnson on Tuesday about sort of the conversations and sort of saw you and Not out to have some conversations after JT and Jack decided to come back Got to win into those perspective and and how do I help you really get the right mindset? Um definitely kind of seeing it all the way through You feel like people kind of just see what happened and they don't know everything that goes into it

How long the season is now what you got to do to prepare for and what to happen in all that time from here to to then So I feel like we definitely just coached in me kind of connected And we kind of just talks man-to-man and Be kind of just straight to me and I feel like I'm kind of both in person and we know we're making it yada Making each other better every day. We got the four best the ends five best the ends honestly And the college football and we're gonna be one of the best allies in college football I feel like a better player today than you were again this year Well, I feel like I'm taking big steps in my roles of just being Responsible and being more of a leader and kind of stepping up and taking a step to kind of get out there more on the team And kind of bring people in and I feel like Kind of helping out more I Mean sounds bizarre, but I mean the season goes by so fast already So I'm you're kind of like week 10 and you're like wow, it's already week 10 So now it's kind of gives you more time to kind of enjoy it kind of save it because

It's been on your powder For a year Yeah, definitely definitely gonna have to have the mental stability to handle all those weeks and all those practices I mean he doesn't have to talk about it. We know about it We've seen it every day. We watched the film. We see them all working together. We know what it could be Come so we know we we're right at the same got the right place at the right time and god wanted us to be here and He knew we wanted us all to come together and kind of play together and be able to bounce off and Just perfect our craft together and I feel like we are just great individuals and become together Doing it what we work with the deliberations. I'm surprised to see the conversation like it should always be live Let's tell you Tell you play football so Obviously, there's a proximity to the season which is is a little reckless. I understand that

But in spring when you're competing for jobs. I mean if I'm a quarterback I'm asking to be live so I can show him how I'm different than You know Anyone that can't be live, you know, I mean, they're always trying to find an edge and if you're never fully alive I don't think you fully give guys opportunity to to be who they want to be or who they can be so That being said You know, I will cast my vote, but that will not be my final decision on that But I will cast my vote the guys have handled it well It was good for all parties involved and more we can do that the better But I'm sure that is coming to a close here very quickly. So Right General Maya off the field we saw after Practice on the side of the day that the mob that came to Get autographs and things When you're working with him on all these things you're talking about but also dealing with the life of being one of the biggest names in college football How do you help mentor him in that aspect? Yeah, I mean

It's a blessing to be able to be in a position where you know can provide insight or I wouldn't say recommendations, but just you know give perspective What how he chooses to receive the first perspective or not one and not me he always does, but which is fine But to be in that position is really humbling that being said He does a really good job on his own. He doesn't need checked on too much He's really done a great job again the way he was raised in his morals and Humble would always sign and taking pictures I'm always trying to be the bad guy for him because he's not gonna be and just says again more about his character But he's not the only I mean he's not the only guy any guy would kind of do that We have a group full of awesome young guys But Jeremiah has done a great job with it handling it and it's definitely growing at an exponential rate to say the least but I think he's built for it and he's been handled at a high level But those around them were trying to help my little bit

What made The first freshman to do this is black Yeah, I mean That's a good question. I think that uh, you know Frankly, you know it I I don't I'm not really fully evolved about that so that can be but I wasn't you know, I think that People on the outside would be defense or even coach day or anybody brought it to my attention You know, we're kind of just going about practice and that's our expectation and make plays not make mistakes Um, and he was starting to make a lot of a lot of plays consistently I think the consistent level that he's been as a person being on being on time and and doing what his job description on each play and The ball is coming your way and making some big plays and uh, you know It starts it starts being seen by your peers and your peers start asking for it They start barking getting straight off all those kind of things that's the ultimate sign of respect. I think with your peers um, you know go to your bat

He's not going for his bat. No one other people are bringing it to your position coach I think it uh speaks volumes of the uh the general respect that you're earning Through the process. So I think it's something like that happened and uh, you know, as well as they're based on his peers and the other coaches So on christianekleadland.com Ryan day was talking about how impressed he's been this spring with Austin cerebelled all that he's been able to do and Tyler bones talking last week about the importance of the cross-training and all that that goes into that How much have you seen Austin benefit from this spring and everywhere that he's been and how big of a piece You think he's going to be regardless of where he fits on this offensive line? Yeah, I think Austin's been awesome I mean he literally, you know what was they say he played every spade every position We just move around you know and handles it and you know He's one of those guys. I feel like you watch film over and over again day after day His name never really gets brought up, you know, in a good way like you know the old line your name gets brought up when Usually not going as well, you know, I mean, they're literally at the point of the tack on every single play

So there's nowhere to hide and so But Austin when his name is brought up is like man, how's a good job right good job pass off that combo Whatever it's it's always positive and Been really impressed with him you start in the winter to a great job through the winter Again continuing to build their respective peers and then he's gonna good job really good job Just being very consistent to spring Jeff Gilbert Brian Since you've been working more with the whole offense When comes the quarterback play What has grown in your I don't know appreciation of that position and what those guys have to do and go through What do you think more about those guys versus maybe what you thought before? It's just a wide receiver guy. Yeah, I mean I mean, there's no just a wide receiver guy. If you are just wide receiver guy You won't be a very later on It's all about it's all about quarterback play, you know, so I think in that same world though to the point is that You know, or to be a great receiver or great receiver or you know receiver guy whatever you want to call it

There's only one page just the quarterbacks page. So everything is based off them there Whether they be their progression their timing the the stresses they have is what we're trying to minimize so If you don't fully understand the quarterback play it's hard to You know maximize receiver play I think you know That being said Yeah, I'm still always learning you know, I think that I can't say anything's jumped out massively right now but I would say that You know, I guess I would say that the preparation level I mean the what is required to execute and play at a high level It's just not capable in the a lot of time right? I mean, there's only so much time where I'll be with players If you're not willing to spend you know your own time getting prepared for practice to be To maximize one's ability Uh, there's a good chance you're not going to maximize your ability. So you know other positions I mean online same thing. I mean receiver play sometimes can can you know get away from it We do a great job studying and being in the room extra for sure

But the requirement of a quarterback to know uh, the fixed protections uh The BR run game coordinator based on the calls, you know to get us in different checks I mean, there's so much they need to know and uh, and frankly uh You know the old lines only as good as the quarterback the receivers only as good as the quarterback They're often as good as the quarterback and it's our responsibility to put guys in position To maximize with their capable of maximizing But their inability uh, to notice that they can just spend extra time outside the a lot of time I think it's critical and the amount that it takes I guess that was maybe a little naive too But uh, the guys are doing a great job doing it Meeting uh rob all our Columbus dispatch Brian you get reach the mount top. We got a banner out there national champs I think you keep these guys grounded Being in the moment looking ahead not back Are you tougher on them because no, I think that I mean I I think we have a lot of guys You know what? I think it's understanding that we were trying to build the map to get to where you wanted to get to

But now that we have the map Doesn't mean we've traveled the path so Like we know what it looks like the guys that are here know what it's supposed to look like the guys before us Staten unbelievable example how to get to where you want to get to So the focus is on trying to you know replicate what they just did and how they operated Can't say we've done that right now. So it's very easy to stay motivating because they already know it's not good enough frankly and so The last thing they want to do is put in a ton of effort and then not reach their goals. So Motivation, I don't think is needed. I think there is a catching up of those and maybe aren't quite sure what it takes you know and but overall Motivation is not what we've needed clarity of message is definitely what we've been focused on and I think the message is being received so not concerned about you know motivation and and the uh Looking back if you will. I think everyone's pretty pretty focused on being forward and knowing we haven't accomplished anything So

Who would you say is the leader of your why we see you in the room right now? I would say carnal tape Brennan innis probably done the most Most outspoken you know in the room Yeah, I would say they're doing a good job those are probably the two guys that would jump out my room. Yep I mean He's been obviously Carnal taking on that role. Yep more being more vocal. He's a good football for obviously. He's the only thing that That process for heaven becoming a more vocal leader took for you to say that on him What someone's a question? Carnal like what do you think like the growth? Yeah, I mean he's I think he's pulled guys aside, you know, it had one-on-one conversations with him He's locked in You know just I think he saw the impact that a mecha made and the role he played and to think that we're gonna lose that and then be a better group Part doesn't mathematically make sense to him. So someone's got set up in that role and one and on respect some two He knows he's capable of it and it's just the desire and the appreciation

I think to be at the order at table now the order head and And appreciate the way a mecha probably went about his business and so um he probably valued that appreciated that And he's just being assured we still have that Could you assess the running back room? I think it's pretty much assumed both is running back to CJ and and A James think that's hand-in-system is probably the way you got to go again How do you think? How is it working and you see third and maybe fourth guys Up in the mirror. I think that you know in college football We're in a football any football really you got to have depth in the running back room. I think that It's very apparent in the NFL. It's usually a two-back system You know very very rarely is it one guy But in college. I think we saw the benefit of that last year The ability to complement each other is really important The ability for us to identify what they do great and put them in good positions to be what they are Or what they're best at I should say is really important as a coaching staff

It's been very impressed with even the younger guys Sam and And in a bow and the way they've come along Consistencies so what you're chasing right you're always able to that's why you're here But how often you do it ultimately dictates how much you play so But overall I think locks been on them. They don't understand the standard and in past pro and Not being a guy we got to sell out because you can't pass protect so We were blessed what especially with tray last year and and quenchon so But no these guys are done a good job. They're competing. They've been very coachable No, it's very it's shown a plot on film But uh, yeah, I mean it's always hard on backs. I mean every opportunity you get to go live and and break tackles really Gives you the most feedback on what these guys are capable of you just playing tag out there You never get any art at least you shouldn't but the running backs You know on contact days have done a good job James has done a really good job growing really excited about him Everyone's really excited about him and CJ

so You know, I think ultimately now group the uh, how will all go with the group be it's probably based on you know The top the bottom rising right and you're gonna have some guys at the top but you know, where's the floor and so I think Bow and Sam has done a really good job and many some more guys to get healthy and more more guys on campus, but very encouraged And you saw him improve and then um McLean I think is a is a great plus. I mean he is a guy that has football intelligence. He's picked it up You know, he's kind of of those incoming freshmen who still should be in high school He's a guy. I think you're gonna point to and you can see right now. He's gonna be a player Over to the right Austin Ward the podcast A healthy Mitchell Melton how does he fit in for your defense? What does he bring to it? Yeah, he's You know, Mitch is that combination player You know in um In our four down um, you know, he's a guy that can do a lot of things

Drop fold in there and make plays you see some of that all the time really athletic um, you know We're kind of loaded at that end position. So He's gonna play there, but You know, like I said last year and we We haven't needed it, but he's a guy you would point to along with C. J. Hicks You know for the for the long season Um, people get injured you get a little light inside. It's always hard on the defensive tackles But if you're gonna play with three ends You know that's Mitch is a guy who definitely can do all that he has that Over to the left Joey Kaufman Columbus dispatch. Jim you've talked about this before, but I think in pastures Where you're going up against a really talented receiver group offense to encourage your players to it's not okay If they give up to the play and to go nearly almost the first half today where you The offense didn't get in the end zone till the late in the second half just And you guys have guys down the second area just what what did you think of that sort of trend and how it's evolved in the way you guys almost shut them out the first

Yeah, I think it's become um You know an expectation now um, you know our DB's you know our BIA best in America we We Led the country and past defense right I think It was 96 when I When I got here and it was number one last year. So They've they've taken that spirit. So it's a competitive spirit. It's an expectation now It doesn't matter who we're going against. It's it's they view it as a standard So that was good to see in the first first half Over to the right Spencer Holbrooke letterman roll Jim we've talked about safety changing the way that you play defense in the Leo and the linebackers But how much does having the depth that you guys have a defensive tackle change the way that you can do things defensively? Yeah, I mean You're going to play to your strengths, you know, and that's that's my job is to What do we have and what do we do best and When you have defensive tackles um, but I've said it before it helped our defense so much last year

When you have defensive tackles that actually make tackles Which is what we have right now It changes the way you call a game You know, it certainly helps you be um In better shape on explosive plays on the back end you don't have to do a whole lot to help those guys out because they're making tackles So you got to go you got to go with that, you know, you got to let those guys play and and they're good so You can't get too far away from the scheme of having those defensive tackles make place because they're doing it and it works Over to the left Tony Gurdman Buckeye Huddle Jim Ryan talked about the quarterback run being more of a Thing with the offense here during the season. How much of when you're facing a team like that? How much does that impact your day to day throughout the week prep preparing for that? Yeah, it's a time, you know, it I think it changes everything you do on defense You see it everywhere from the NFL on down if you have a quarterback who can make plays with his feet Your scheme better be designed

That you know to to take that away into account for it. So it changes the way you look at everything when you're game planning Thank you, Donovan over here to the right Tim May the Tim May podcast Jim you might be when I asked Ryan about just for example Calvin Simpson Hunt But the corner scene to be playing almost with the chip owner shelter to a certain Xtanami Davis and Nick Benosin took today personally it looked like you know to make is a some of the height going into the game But what what do you see from that group in particular that Buies you going into this offseason? Yeah, when you can when you have corners that you can count on Again, it's just like having defensive tackles In the run game when you have corners you can count on that are going to compete all the time no matter what the situation Is and we've developed that again, it changes the way you call the entire game. I mean you you're able to leave those guys on an island You're able to switch out coverages And they know what they're doing and they take great pride in it. So

Having those guys out there in the development. It's a big deal. It really is Yeah, I mean he's He did come in late and you know He's one of those guys that just competes every day doesn't say much You know he's trying to live up to the standard or the other guys And you you see him coming along, you know, you see him step-by-step coming along and and you know put him in a You know competitive atmosphere. See him step up. That's a great sign And final question for coach Knowles Dan Hope 11 warriors You mentioned CJ Hicks a few minutes ago. Have you seen him take the strides? You need to see the spring to trust him as a guy who could be a potential starter on his defense Yes, I mean I think CJ has shown that He has talent and I think it's my job to put him in the best situations for him because he can be a force

You know he's much better when he's blood-sing or he's directed because he's able to use his athlete Athletic ability, but he has certainly shown that he's going to be able to help this defense coach. Thank you very much for your time All right, and we will bring offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach chip Kelly to the podium now We'll open up the questions over to the left bill Rebinoid's Columbus dispatch at chip What are your just general impressions of the offense coming out of spring especially at quarterback You know We'll look at all 15 so I think you know This day is is a big part of it, you know because it was the first time they were going to play some of those guys that were got to play in from the crowd And it was an amazing crowd and you need to 80,000 for spring game Now you could see some of the young guys kind of looking around like wow. This is different in the indoor um, but that's what they have to get ready to play it so um We got better from practice one practice 15, you know It's still in evaluation through the whole process, but

It's not something and in the players bill to the will we're not making a decision walking off the field today Saying hey, this is the direction that we're going in will We'll be very authentic and and look through everything and make sure that we get a really good feel for what it all looks like and then Who will best move this offense? That's that's what our decisions will do. So I do I think we got a lot of guys there That part's tough. I think because you got you there's guys that deserve reps You know, and they're all competing for it. So you know Sometimes you'd like to be sometimes when you had a guy who was in the initial startup Well, he's gonna get the bulk of the reps to get him better, but They capitalize on we really rolled them, you know, if you were at some of our screen praxis You're watching all those guys rotate and rotate out Um, and as we talk about all the time, you know, the old adges is don't count your reps make your reps count You know, and we'll put it all together and really come up with you know, which guy do we really feel is gonna make gonna help us move this offensively Over to the far right bill landis the podcast kings of the north Hibb. You some of me first talked to you that the the basis of a lot of your success running the football just kind of figuring out what your guys do best and then

Meeting into that over 15 practices now. How good of a field do you think you have for that? And then what are the next few months look like as you try to piece that all together? Really good question it's It's interesting because the one thing that I think Sometimes makes tough and an evaluation is what a good front we want to get Um, you know, so for 15 practices Those guys on the other side of the ball were pain, you know Jack and JT and tylie can those guys, but I know come fall There's not gonna be anybody more happy that we have those guys on the defensive side of the ball because of what they can do So um, I still think we'll have to really evaluate that what we're good at what we're not what we got to get better on what we got to work on But I think the work we got against such a quality defense was uh was really key for us Over to the far left Nathan baird cleveland.com So you were go at this time um came out of the spring with still a lot of question marks about the offensive line Um, and even I guess that last season came out with question marks What have you seen that progress in the time that you've been here and and what's your confidence level that that offensive line is gonna allow this offense to do

Everything it wants to do this fall. Yeah, I mean, I've been here Short amount of time so I didn't know I really don't have anything to compare to so I kind of Tabula rassa come in with a blank slate and just observe it. I think we're really athletic I think gani and and and Seth and those guys inside are really smart and really intelligent They allow you to to be able to make adjustments in game Just tucking football with some of those guys. It's like well These guys are wired the right way and a lot of those guys have played a lot of football so They can bank on their experience there You know, I think we We've got about four guys that have played significant amount of snaps and we got to make sure we can find out who the fifth guy is Um, but that's similar to where the quarterback spot is. I think and I also think of the offensive line You're not gonna play a 16-17 game season and just playing the five guys You know, you really have to develop your depth there Um, there's gonna be a number two center that's gonna play a lot of football It's gonna be a number two guard whether it's on either side of the ball. There's gonna be a third tackle I think you you're gonna get tested especially with this new in this new playoff format You really have to think that way so you know, you're not looking for five starters

You're really looking for ten starters because you're gonna have to you're gonna have to probably play ten guys to get when you get through a 16-17 game season Over to the right Austin Ward the podcast chip. I think it was the first play of the game the T formation and then the reverse I don't know spin move with Will Howard Understand what's the inspiration for that package and that sort of uh rink of what the quarterback mr. Hayes Do you have uh There's a looming figure around this whole program. You know, we get to go to work every day and the Woody Hay's athletic center So um, it was good enough for Woody. We're gonna stay with him. We're gonna do it We ran some last year. I think we took 21 snaps at UCLA and T Been a short yardage formation for us and we've done some different things with it, but um I also I think our players had a lot of fun You know practicing that and doing some different things so um It's a small part of our offense, you know, we will not be in the T 21 times in one game, but you know, we may get it in some short yardage situations And I think it's come back. There's a lot of schools right now that Um are starting to do that. You know, it's really just you're trying to you know, you got a half a yard to get

You know, you're trying to get your big guys in the game and I think we use three tight ends and and two running backs in our formation today with Packard being the the fullback in that situation. So um, there's a lot of different things you can do in short yardage, but um A little bit of a tribute to coach coach Hayes and and then and what he means in this program Joey Kaufman Columbus dispatch over to the left chip as you look back now Even your two months 15 spring practices or something you feel best about what you've been able to accomplish with This offense Well, I haven't accomplished anything because I didn't take a snap but um I think the most impressive thing since I've been here is how close close this football team is You know some programs talk about the brotherhood there. This is really brotherhood Our practices as we talked about how good our defense is it's they're highly competitive, but they're not combative and and those guys Really work very very well together both the old line and the D line the secondary receivers Um, the competition is the but it's got to be the best there is in the country You know and that makes you better, but I think sometimes competition You know guys can lash out and it gets really combative and then all of a sudden the fight breaks out and the fight breaks out

And we're trying to accomplish and get footballed on but I think the way these guys cooperating work together as a group Uh, as a special bond and I think you're you're gonna need the the the closest team and the most connected teams are the ones that win Over to the right here Andy Baxter and letterman or all chip obviously there's been a lot of talk about Jeremiah But a mecca is the big return in this group. He kind of reminded everyone what he can do today What's it been like working with him and what kind of weapon can he be for you guys? Good point and a mecca has reminded me and the other 14 practice sessions of what he can do Special player, you know and and J. J. is a really talented player also, but you know I think I think all of the the whole group My car now take did some really good things watching him this spring and for all of them You know, I mentioned it with the elephant spline. I I came in with the blank slate You know, I had no opinions formed Not that really just wide-eyed and just observant, but you know that I think that wide receiving Is really special and I think there's a bunch of guys in there and again when you have to play multiple Multiple games after the regular season is over You're gonna make sure you're gonna need depth like that and in the fact that it's you feel a little bit

Constable right now that we got some guys there that can make some plays on the perimeter And that really dictates how people are gonna defend you, you know, so You got a couple really good running back, you know So are they gonna load the box? Are you really gonna load the box and leave those guys in one-on-one coverage? Well then it's the core back responsibility to decipher that and get the ball of those guys So or do they at least a double covers a list of double coverage and now it's a little bit lighter box and you can run the ball so Having too many weapons is a good problem to have Second roll left pat Murphy 24-7 sports chip. We've talked a lot about kind of the quarterbacks Maybe vying for the the starting spot, but some of the younger guys What have you seen from them? We got an opportunity to see more of them today than we probably have What's your assessment of them as they kind of get in this? I I always am so impressed with Young guys that enroll early in watching how they get acclimated and what they do, you know You look at Julian and air and in JJ, you know, they should be in the hot lunch line of their high school

and they're out here playing in front of 80,000 people and They've really progressed when you watch them in meetings and listen to them and they interpret, you know, so Basically the whole concept is we throw them in the deep end and see if they can swim You know, this we didn't baby anything. We don't put the install in with hey you guys are in stock We're an install this with the older players and then you guys you know go set at the kitty table And we're just gonna do the really simple things with you, you know, they get it all in The more they can digest the more when you're in a room when when you're checking for understanding and asking questions And they can spit back to you the more confidence you have when they get in there with the plays that you can call for them. So Those guys have been in process. They're still learning, you know, they were the The guys today that we're kind of looking around and saying, well, there's like 80,000 people here Along with the offensive coordinator in the quarterback coach because I was kind of looking around because I had actually never been in the stadium until yesterday when we had Um our 14th practice in there. So I played Ohio State once when I was at Oregon But that was in the Rose Bulls. I had never been actually in the stadium until yesterday. So I caught myself when I went into

The stadium today looking around saying 80,000 for spring game. That's impressive Got time for just a few more folks over here till the right Dylan Davis Delaware Gazette Given what you just said about throwing them into the deep end What stood out the most to you about Julian's progression through 15 practices and where he is that you guys head out to spring Julian is a very fast processor You know, he really thinks very very quickly on his feet like he He makes really quick decisions. He doesn't stick on and read he can progress and any sees things really well for For a young player, you know, and not having been exposed to a lot of college defenses and especially What Jim does, you know Jim Jim can make Jim can make a young freshman quarterback Cry with some of the stuff he does, but you know, I never saw that with jules and I I that's been in press of his his ability to retain and You know him and JJ the compliment I would say them is if you got here and you didn't know what class They were and you wouldn't say that those guys were freshmen in terms of how they've picked things up and and you know

Sometimes freshmen act like freshmen But the guys who are special they don't act like freshmen, you know, they act like their football players And those are two guys in our examples of that far left camera and tea Gromitzon the athletic You you on the topic of freshmen James people's exam Run the second half. Yeah, you talk about how deep you need to be in this era of college football, but As you search for rb3 What did you see from them today and what is what is their growth been like in this spring? Yeah, James really flashed early for for me not knowing again kind of let's just take Don't worry about what the background is where they're from who they are The this guy of this stars. That's guy of that stars. It's they're all bakais. And there's how they do and I think James has got really good feel and vision He can hit things I thought sand is some really good things today TC is another guy who really came along during the spring and in work constantly talking in Our staff meetings about depth were very cognizant of the fact that the playoff situation has changed So you have to develop that depth, you know

Used to be maybe have a parent affair. It was what everybody says But I think you may have to have more than that you're talking about 16-17 games You're really gonna be tested that way so I was really happy with with how those young guys have come along You're in the 15 training sessions that we've had. Oh here to the right. Tim made the Tim May podcast Thank you, Jerry. You have your own podcast. Yeah, like these guys all have like a name next to their You're a name show. Okay. Yeah, that's pretty cool He must have some juice if you got you got your name in your podcast definitely By the way, I like it. It's not just the lunch last hot lunch last while it's a hot lunch line. Yeah Just two quickies number one. Do you feel compelled Delicie's quarterbacks know where they stand here? You know, it's coming up Tuesday. You know to me there Yeah, you know, where does that go? I mean in your mind. Yeah, we're all sit down as a staff and visit meet on it and then nine Maybe he does an unbelievable job of I think all our players understand where they fit and what what the picture is and we'll give them our assessment This isn't you know, we're not gonna come back and but we do it after every day

They know where they stood after practice one after two after three after four we grade everything They're getting constant feedback in terms of where we are and then after 15 which we had today But but we can't do it unless you watch the film and can can really look at the The things because you may see something but you're on the sideline You know, why did he make that decision? Well, I couldn't really see the field safety from where he was Okay, now I understand why you made that decision. So You know, what what what the well meetings with all our players and that's that's always been the method. So this week during You know between Monday through Friday. We're all scheduled no one's going on the road to recruiting until after that But we're all a player meeting said every position You know offensive line defensive line linebacker safety is everybody everybody's gonna sit down with their position coaches Know where they fit and we see them But do you feel a pressure with with the transfer portal looming? I mean you've been a head coach for a long time It is that on your mind at TSD. Yeah, I think I'll do it for all aware of it I'm 100% and I don't think it's pressure But I think you just open lines of communication and everybody knows

You know, which What your evaluation was through the training sessions that we have guys we got to have we got real quick Last two questions Dan hope and then Rob all are Feel like you need to have a starting quarterback named by and whatever biggest things you're going to be looking for between now and then in determining who that guy's going to be Well between now and and whatever then is we're not allowed as coaches to go back out And practice with him, you know, in college football you get 15 training sessions in the In the offseason and then they'll go back to work and with Mick in the in the weight room and Getting bigger getting faster getting stronger. They'll have organized activities themselves And they they do a really good job of that But once there's a football out like we're not allowed to be there to evaluate and even assess So they're really from a football standpoint on their own until August so You always want to do it earlier But I also believe every time I've been involved in this is that it kind of happens organically and authentically You know because the players know

If you say we decided we're going to be with Joe and they all think it's him You know, you know, they're in the locker room with him every day players Players understand, you know who they'd feel is the guy and most of the time it The decision is very obvious, you know, when you just say this is where we are with it, you know but There's that timetable thing I don't I can't give you an exact timetable on that so Rob chip You talk about Julian, but typically in your experience you've done again like Tim said a long time How long does it take for the game to slow down for a prey on QB? I think it depends on the individual, you know, I've had some kids Um Where early, you know, you were like wow Marcus Murray, I was like that Remember vividly second practice and he got to the fifth reading the progression and threw it out here in this big game And I asked him why I do it all I asked why because just one of us and it and I said why did you do that? And he goes I don't know what we call that defense, but there was like a lot of guys over there

And they didn't seem like there was anybody over there But for him to process at that thought and he was right And he came back the other day whether that was cover 60 other day coach like I learned what you guys call the cover But um it all happens differently. I've got guys that for two years seem like They're just you know They're really struggling and then the light bulb goes off and you know, whoa like they got it so Everybody has different learning styles, you know, our job and the evaluation process is to identify those learning styles So you know they cognitive learn they an auditory learner, you know, do they do they learn by feel is it is it more A feel guy, you know a more film guy, you know, it's all different And I think we have to keep poking and prodding and and and for us as coaches that's the challenge too is what is their best learning style and how can we convey it? Because education basically is just a transportation knowledge But it really doesn't matter what I know or what Ryan knows it matters what they know so That's that's always kind of What we're working on and studying and thinking about and kind of where we are and how much can they handle and then how much is too much

You know because this may be a great play. I agree 100% but if he don't feel it's a good play Then then why is it in you know, I mean and that's that's this whole feeling out process that we're all they're learning awesome. We're learning them This is have identities so to coaches really Running quarterbacks. That's something you've always sort of lean toward or is it year by year case by case What advantages do you like about because all your guys can run a little bit? Yeah, I think a running quarterback causes problems for defense So when when plays break down the unscheduled plays You know if you just go back to the recent Super Bowl on that last drive the two big plays where my homes run But petrol my homes is not a runner Andy's not calling design quarterback runs for Pat But when the defense matches up and plays two men and turns their back to the quarterback Well, maybe the best decision is to take off you know the second one he took out. I'm like he may score You know a lot of guys go and they want a hook side You know and and there's times where you have to understand if you do have a running quarterback

We talk about the best of the best ability is availability You know you're not low on your shoulder and taking people on but we are always looking for quarterbacks that have the ability to run We're not looking for running backs that can throw you know, so you're not gonna see us 20 times a game we're running the quarterback and there are people that run it offensive styles and are really successful with it But with this group we have right now. That's not now they can hurt you with the feet We'll did it when he was at case date, you know Obviously Devin took off a couple times today air took off a couple times today Lincoln's a really really good athlete Julian can run but you know we're not calling design quarterback runs, you know you're not gonna see You know I tremendous respect for co-chays and the legacy that he left here This straight T is about as far as we go. We are not going single wing So we are not gonna snap it and run quarterback ice on quarterback power. So But it is a it's another weapon You know and if it also keeps defenses honest, you know if your defensive and is gonna continue to bend From the quarterback pulls it he's on the edge and he's gaining first downs

Well then the defensive and has to stay outside and contain the quarterback Well then we can run the ball up and hand the ball off sometimes in our running game our quarterback really is a blocker He's responsible for a defender if the defender was cheating and fitting it on the run Well then his responsibility is to make make the defense be honest and and that's really air did that a couple times today And we had a block that safety was sticking his face in there So we took off around the edge what happens in next play the defense is wider Then what do we get to do? We got to get a chance to hand the ball off to the running game Great coach. Thank you so much for your time and thank you for being a buck. I uh thanks It was definitely addressed here, uh, you know, this pretty easy. I think Austin, Sarah, they'll stuff up in a big way, you know with the thought of being out Um, and and then you know, you know, Carson can can play both guard and center, which is good Um, and you know, we've actually you know said it's been a nice job as well um But it was good to see Austin, you know, he moved from guard to tackle a couple times and even with the ones He was in their battle in his tail off. So um, I think we have built some depth there But again, you know, we got to go play some games and see where

Yeah, you know, again, I whether it's whatever happened last year's last year But I know that the message to our to our offensive line is we want to play one of the hardest playing offensive line The country now we got to play with technique But at the end of the play like knock the line of scrimmage back and play with your hair on fire as hard as you possibly can There's a lot that goes with the playing in the offensive line. It's all the communication There's a lot of things that have to get into place. I think chef has done a nice job of communicating And it's getting the offense better now who takes control up front and brings everybody together Uh, which is great But but to me like that's it now we could list a bunch of other things But to me we've got to move the line of scrimmage We've got to be just playing with our hair on fire and knocking people back and playing physical And that's the start to game that's the end of the game No, no, I don't see it that way at all. I think Um, you know, we'll see what we got this year, but I feel like you know, we've got some really good young players in the system I think that

You know, we should have the best offensive line in the country. That's that's the standard here Has been for a long time and You know, and so you know, we'll keep pushing towards that this year and Um, you know, I think you know, everybody in that room and play the same thing So uh, sunny has really stepped up and played well. He's made this transition from safety to linebacker Very well. I think he did a nice job in the spring, but you could definitely see as he went into the the summer Bigger stronger Being more comfortable closer to the line of scrimmage It's different when you're closer to the line of scrimmage I was doing a better job getting his you know hands on on You know on offense alignment and getting off of blocks You know, using a better job and doing a better job with his hands Or he understands the communication The linebackers always have to be involved at the front They can be involved and fit into the back end. He's doing that Um, you know, I think he sees you know looking forward to play

Uh, playing in a game and you know, getting an idea of what it all looks like But I can tell you in practice. He's playing fast. He's playing violent and I think he's you know He does a nice job of taking the meeting in the field being very intentional about his work, but playing really hard Yeah, I haven't talked to Jim because you know, we'll make that final decision here over the weekend He's certainly the leader in the club boss Can you tell Ryan I mean Seth McLaughlin can tell he's been there. Have done that is he Is he projected that to the offensive line here still and I'm saying for the leadership stand going a grown man How does that just come up? How does it show uh? Uh, a bunch of ways it just poise. It's Not getting rattled when you know coach parks at you. It's you know, okay. I got this let me get it under control It's seeing something in practice and being able to adjust on the move. It's Being prepared when you walk on the field It's Recognizing how hard you have to play at the position. It's

You know kind of all of those things into one, but he's got great communication up front. He talks to the guys He's moving quickly in there and when you have experience like he has you know, the game seems to slow down at times yet You know, he seems to be playing it off at a fast level You Hey, there was a point where uh, you got a black stripe off and I feel like you took a step In the right direction when you come in in the summer it is very difficult to get on the field especially early in the season Whether he does or not. I will see But if he continues to practice the way that he's been practicing then he'll give himself a chance to be in the rotation Maybe through the season Or later in the season which is similar to some of the water series we've had before you know, you've seen Some of those guys get some reps really in the season, but then make an impact later in the season

I think that's probably more Uh, his path right now. No, you know, it shows up and starts to the grape and you know, well You know, we'll give him the reps he deserves Where like Jeremiah is in a different situation because he came in here in January And he was a little bit ahead Anybody who comes in and generates a me out look at them as a freshman anymore They've been here. They're in the program and we expect them to contribute Stay Still in there right there talking and communicating but Um in the scrimmages we've had it's you know, it's it's been offense very defense So I've mostly been in the offensive side still kind of going through all those types of things And there's a lot to work through this year just with you know the playcock and then

uh To me that is you know the close to play communication inside of 15 goes off There's a lot of things that go on there We don't really get notification on that so I'm trying to you know, just help chip with that and some Some communication that we're a person now um But I'm going to very much involve with special teams I think with a two minute warning there's some strategic things that are going to go on in the half and the game that you know I'd really be involved with Um, but to your point just overall just looking guys in the eye making sure that you know Uh, they have to write looking their eye to you know that you know they they understand um You know with the situation what's going on in the game, you know Like that happens sometimes in young players, you know, they're just like playing the next play You know like that's not just how that's not how it works. We've got to win the situations and so you know all those things will come into play and And make it in game adjustments You know be involved with on all three phases, you know watching you know the game in a tab with the try to identify what happened in the last series I think all those things will be happening

Right now uh Nick is going to be the starter And uh, you know that that competition will go into next week, but Um right now as we head into the weekend he is the starter Um and the plan is ready to be the first part of the go up and go Um excited against actor He's got a strong leg. He's he's made it um a good transition into You know the country, but also just playing you know football um and not Estraining with football, which is very very different um The um you know snap to kick is really improved, you know, that was one thing has he's a taller guy So the ball has to get out of this you know get out just quick faster I think he's done that um his time time has been good Uh, and he's been more consistent um you'll see you know he'll he'll kick a few I'm just going right out of the stadium and we just got a strong strong leg So we're looking for that consistency. He's he's shown that here most recently So uh he's got the upper hand right now

Well, I don't know if it's because Will maybe took a little bit longer to make the decision in December When some of the other top of the line quarterback to us Or because maybe there was a thought he wasn't going to be the starter at Kansas State this year But it seems like people are doing kind of as a game manager type of quarterback After eight months with him Where do you see his ceiling or what what what is Will's special fate to you and where do you see him take himself? I see um You know a bunch of trades there. I think the first trade of size There's big you can stand in the pocket and see he's strong Um, so I mean that's the first thing you notice about him Again, whether it's standing in the pocket with poise. I think that's another trade that he has that's excellent He he feels the rush Um, but he stands right in there. I think the next trade is just you know, he's top end speed And he can run 22 miles an hour at that size which Uh, there's not a lot of guys who can do that. So I think that's the extraordinary and that would I would say his overall leadership

Command in the huddle is is another You know something that he's he's really you know grown into in the last few months and he's been here Uh, and then his accuracy. He's been very accurate since he's been here Um, and when he knows what's going on and he can't to spell what's happening I mean it looks right his feel and and he can hurt you, you know a bunch of different ways so um, yeah His ceiling that that's that's gonna be kind of you know up to how he plays his season but um You know, I see a player who has a lot of great skills that you know translates well to the next level. So we'll see but I know his first focus is on winning games around here Please Meaning I'm nursing naturally. The answer first complaint I was good. I was rolling Also, it's a weird mean

Yeah You Yeah, it's like I prepared well And camp and practice all week and I was I was ready um, yeah, I have two multi-year starters I did a lot. I mean I couldn't ask them. Hey, well, we got here, but I was prepared well I was telling Jimmy and says like I Probably emotional Um, it was always my dream to come here and play and start and Having that like mean I just keep going keep building those days and those games and keep building What a much younger Austin You No, not I don't think Even I told like me I asked my younger self Even committing and I wouldn't believe that now having a couple of starts. Yeah

Awesome has this happened Faster than you I guess you're technically a soft one No, I knew that year two. I was gonna see you some playing time Now starting week one year two. I didn't see that but like I was ready In spring ball like I knew I was going I was going to play some soft But About there I guess it shows like my preparation my hard work and Just everything I put into this and I just finally show up on field There are moments the offseason Yeah, uh, the definitely was in training camp I mean blocking highly can tie every day

Like it feels it feels a lot of confidence and doing it well and not like getting Ball or anything Hero in Jason more in Taiwan all those guys me pretty much anyone on the deep and mind Okay, mag as well. So yeah He helped me a quite a lot and I'm proud that he's our starting center not someone else's but I mean, he's like the captain of the line. He's another voice on the line With guys like Josh Fryer and Josh Simmons dining Tiger. That means another voice and another captain Me a lot he can tell you like before to play what's going on like how to block someone like we need to do and like

That's a lot It makes us more calm like especially me and pay as a first star so like we were up here What what said like he brought us down and we were like five like our emotions weren't high we settled in Is that like something he tells you? Is that something you pick up on by home? He's acting. How do you kind of mean sense with his It's by how he's acting and what Mean him when we're on the side of him both Josh Donnie like he was telling us like a cool like we got it It's pretty much like everyone old cool group As a first time starter how much of the end that mean a lot That was my first time ever using high pads. We didn't use the iPads in high school But I mean you can say like try to remember the defense. You can just come on silent and bring them You

Probably the first or second back after the I thought we say all right Awesome. Thank you very much That's um, I want to say Maybe I don't know but I mean when I'm pretty sure you got the job I was really excited because I'm one of those guys who's the tempo I can run with the tempo You know I mean I'm I'm gonna play basketball all life in set of football and I feel like Just the fast pace often so we're running really fits the guys we have right now. I know you can throw a football But can you kick a football 75 years ago? I probably question Lincoln. What was your question? How is your Your room at the community? He's a blessing man. I can't complain. He's a great guy. What's his name's linking? Teen hoes Oh He's cleaner. I think we're both really clean That's why we kind of picked each other's roomies because we're very clean and we don't like our rooms really messy

Oh, it's true though. It's a true. It's a real pretty clean song Are you still a cross-training at Tag Bullsom or if you just been off guard this way? Oh so far I've been all guard um, I really don't know like I said I'm taking it practice by practice I've been in that being back attack like good enough You know, I'm just really focused in on this past practice is the next thing Oh, that mean a lot um, you know, you put a lot of work in to play here And I spent a dream just from being in Ohio kitties and from a high-o-kitts perspective It's I mean, that's the biggest wish possible I would say that's that'd be pretty cool What was it like to play this year's post game getting on the field for the first time? It didn't fly This can be a weird answer, but it feel like I was playing a game in it that makes sense like it I was pretty locked in I felt like just no anxiousness no stress no nothing really I just went in that first game was like Shoot on here now it's time to roll you know You didn't really hit me I was like it didn't hit me after like I want to like what you feel doing And it's like getting out there at the end of it just like honestly

I don't know I felt less nervous that then high school and that makes no sense Um a lot I mean I'm learning from Josh and Austin I think prior to when my biggest role model is here is my bigger big brother when I first made it I'm up to the okay Yeah, no Yeah, yeah, so yeah, to be an awesome those are my guys man. I mean even miles to I mean all three of them That's those are my roommates and they're progressing every day as well on and I'm excited to see where they where they can get to And I'm excited to play the field Oh, yeah, you know, it's been really helpful You know, just keep in my mind just settled and straightforward on the next blood It's a great question um like I said, I mean The I just need to stay consistent in my work. I think that's the biggest thing for me is just ain't consistent

Absolutely, I mean when you see defensive And you see defensive start arguing with each other and things like that. I mean Makes a lot easier So For taking Austin it's just more of down for Jackson preseason all-american Donovan Jackson is a very good When he's on the field he makes his presence stuff I mean we

Watching you guys Yeah, I mean we put in the work during practice we practice really hard coach. They really challenge us in practice hard Physicians coaches really challenge us in practice That's a result When you work hard for something and you're able to see like What comes out of it like that's there's no better feeling in that I Know I mean I was really funny to see Take what what has Seth been off of you guys for the first two games? What's it been like playing XN for the last two?

He's You know he's really You never see real panic and having a guy like that next to you and you know you're having really Play it as many meaning for snaps There's no one outside rather absent my left and to my right, you know for our hands set Those guys they do so much Offence People talk about his intelligence really kind of showing up in the film room and on the field Where have you noticed that intelligence and how is that helped you? Oh, yeah like I said and crunch time You know when when things aren't exactly looking like how we practice it, you know Having a guy like that We'll do this this this and then we execute having a guy like that like this There's none better now You know You know

What's my favorite tape I almost came back to Curvuscerkt that has big 10 bodies. Absolutely. What do you see when you look at their tape and see just team seven, a couple of those guys are pretty big. This is such a thing. Yeah, those guys here, they're real players. They're real players. And so they're coach well. You can sell them. They go hard, you know, they're real players over there. We've been practicing since the best of our quality. So you know, expect that. And I'm prepared for that. You see, they made Virginia Tech last year. They're doing. They take the. Yeah, they play, they play a good ball over there. You know, their defense plays hard. They challenge teams, you know, sometimes they might be overlooked.

And they still challenge teams. And so they come out there with the mentality like, no matter who's in front of the civil war. I don't know. This is something that's good. I mean, the actions right there right in front of you right now, which is kind of a good thing and kind of a bad thing. We should shift off the rest, you know, hidden back in inside. You talking with your. Yeah, I mean, I hear from Chris every once in a while trying to not survive there. Too much. It's always. It's always good to hear from guy like that guys like the one, even Matt Jones would turn him back. All right, Tyler, thank you. Thank you. Thank you very much. Thank you. Thank you. And for this year, just be able to convince that. We've all been skill set. I'm thinking of a lot of things.

I wait my. Just my height is more regard height. But I'm faster my feet and I'm just saying that you can kind of sometimes like basketball or want to be on that just like defend, but you know, you're going to stay. Stitch playing sometimes. Exactly. Yeah, that's a great question. I mean, I feel like these two can answer that for the year right now. I think KK here, okay, answer that. Well, I don't know what to say about that. What do you guys think? I don't know. I go and make a day. This man is strong. Well, I'm talking about like he got the basketball here. He's not like you can just do a thing. He's kind of really proud. Just the whole way. And he got the real thing. He doesn't give up on the playing. Like you said, he's going to go in and watch the film. He's doing it every day. He's going to better. He's feeling on the field.

From the practice one. He's like a coach man. He's like a coach. Chip Kelly's influence changed your mind about maybe like the idea of tack over his dark. Because obviously his offensive predelitions for like, yeah, the offensive blind play. Has he been a part of the Centreland in the car? That's um, I want to say maybe I don't know, but I mean, when I first heard he got the job, I was really excited because I'm one of those guys who's the tempo. I can run with the tempo, you know, I mean, I'm playing basketball all life in the seventh football. And I feel like just the fast pace often. So we're running really fits the guys we have right now. I'm really excited for that. I know you can throw football at 65 guys, but can you kick a football 75 yards? I think it just. I probably question Lincoln. What was your question? How is your, uh, your room at the boot? He's a blessing man. I can't complain. He's a great guy. What's his name's Lincoln? Clean hose.

Oh, he's a cleaner. I think we're both really clean. That's why we kind of pick each other's roommates because we're very clean. You don't like our rooms really messy. Well, it's true though. It's true. It's a true. They're both pretty clean. Luke, are you still cross training at Taggol-Som or if you just been all guard this way? Oh, so far I've been all guard. I really don't know. Like I said, I'm taking it practice. I practice. I could end up being back attack. I could not, but you know, I'm just really focused in on this past practice is the next one. What do you think? Yeah. Oh, that mean a lot. You know, you put a lot of work in to play here. It's been a dream just from being in the Ohio kid. It's from a Ohio kid's perspective. I mean, that's the biggest wish possible. I would have thought it would say. It would be pretty cool. What was it like last year at first game getting on the field for the first time? It didn't feel like, this is going to be a weird answer, but it feels like I was playing a game that that makes sense.

I was pretty locked in. I felt like just no anxiousness, no stress, no nothing. I just went in that first game and was like, shoot out here now. It's time to roll. You know, it didn't really hit me. I was like, it didn't even hit me after. I was like, what would you feel doing? It's like getting out there at the end. I'm just like, honestly, I don't know. I felt less nervous than I did in high school and it makes no sense. What is the anxiety about the snow? What is it? What is the snow that makes us feel like? It's just a matter of time. A lot. I mean, I'm learning from Josh Ann Austin. I think, prior to that, it was one of my biggest role models here. It was my bigger brother, my first game ever. So I'm up to Dia. I don't know. This is the idea, okay. Yeah, no. Yeah, yeah. So, yeah, to Dia, Austin, those are my guys, man. I'm even miles to, I mean, all three of them. Those are my roommates and they're progressing every day as well. And I'm excited to see where they can get to. I'm excited to play on the field with them. Oh, yeah, he's been really helpful. You know, just keeping my mind just settled and straightforward on the next play. What is the biggest sport you've ever played?

It's a great question. Like I said, I mean, I just need to stay consistent in my work, I think. That's the biggest thing for me is just taking consistent and worrying about the next play. To my game. And I was like, whoa, I never had that happen. No other school, like just Ohio State field can't win me. And I was like, wow, that's crazy. Do you like, I mean, you're quiet, but also do you like that? Do you want everything that comes in? I do, but at the same time, I just like to be a normal person. I don't really like that. What's going on there? I don't feel are you a showman? I mean, I was going to describe this kind of like your art form. Yeah, I mean, yeah. I want to feel, I'm a little bit more chipy-alive. But sometimes I still require them. What do you want in competitive art of you? What did that, when did you know the set about yourself? Oh, I've been had that, I mean, since I was like eight, nine years old. I mean, haven't, I mean, just high-end, how's it just to be competitive? That's the reason why I chose to come to Ohio State. Just to compete each and every day, just to go against the best DB group in the country.

That's all I'm saying is if it enhanced the last several months, I mean, you want to just, it's been nuts and then, then, then, they'll burn, etc. Oh, yeah, for sure. I'm just going to get them two guys, the best two DBs in the country. I mean, that's the reason I came here. Just going to get the guys just going to make me better each and every day. Yesterday, I went out playing the red zone. Yeah. Yeah. You just said, you're in the two plays later, you call one or the other. I'm in the four down there. Yeah. You just said, you're dead. I said, I said, I said, well, he said, when he defed little boys, he said, I'm here. I said, okay, I'm going to be back. And that's something, be back. Then when I'm in the play, I just, I'll just walk off. That's it. Yeah. I said, I told you I'm coming back, right? Yeah. What's it like to be back to the car now, say, you're in the right hands. You guys, it feels great just us three to be on the field together. We're going to make a lot of plays this year. What are you learning from that? I learned a lot, especially from Carnell, because we both play outside. So me just learning from him and, you know, the things he learned.

He just teaching me, and you know, he was behind Mar, and stuff like that. So he just teaching me the game for sure. What specifically, you got better at that? Yeah, compared to what you first got. I said my footwork. That's the biggest game. Me and Coach Alon was looking at that's one thing I need to get better on. So, I mean, I just worked on that in all season and just got better over time. What, what can still be your work aspect in the end? Well, still my work at the end. I mean, just, I really don't know. I can't really answer that, but it just, it just in me like I just want to work. That's one thing. I think I say I get it from my dad. My dad really do a reason why I worked so hard, because since I was like eight years old, he just wanted me to just work and be the best at what I do. So, I mean, I really, I said different. Why actually like this is a clip of my day, you know, like on Johnny Day, when, what show? Yeah. Yeah. Yes, and how close did you come to? I wasn't, I wasn't super out of, I don't know why. I could have made it seem like it was that I was a bug car.

And that's it. How did you guys have your table? He said a big example. I mean, just, I ain't going to say it was only just my dad. It was, I mean, I have a cousin's name. You know, it's really played for the Seattle City Hall. So, I was, I looked up to him as well. He was doing a West Virginia with table Austin and Steadman Bayley. So, I mean, he was a motivation for me. And just all the guys that grew up before me in my regardless area, Broward area for sure. I mean, just looking at those guys. Guys, like, I say Brandon Anderson for sure. He was a class ahead of me. So, I seen things he was doing in eighth grade. And I was just like, whoa, I mean, that's something I want to do. What do you think about the expectations for you? I mean, I, Chris Cardinal, my podcast team is going to be, I think it's going to be a factor from the first place, first day, first game, et cetera. Those are big expectations. Do you have bracelets? I really don't, I mean, I know it's big expectations for me because, you know, no one playing the country coming in and all the hype around me. So, I mean, I just try to block out all that stuff and just focus on the main thing,

just the team and I receive a room and a locker room. And, you know, just first game come, if I don't, you know, see the expectations that you have for me. I mean, I don't really care. I just want to go out there and win a game. How much of a confidence these boys have for you when people like Chris Cardinal, Marvin Harrison Jr. are saying, this guy can be the next greatest hero in the whole house. I mean, it's something great. I mean, I just got to go out there and on the field and just show you guys that I could beat a nice, you know, part of the great, the highest they've received with a company here. So, I mean, it's a blessing and know how that, but, and as I go out there and play and show you guys. What do you think about that? I mean, it's a lot for me to be, was it the first freshman? Yeah, I mean, just, that's aggressive for me for sure. Just, you know, shows all the hard work that I put in, all the, I mean, on the way to the room is the. What is your matured? My dad really, I mean, the maturity, you know, just be older than, don't act my age.

I go to my age. I mean, a lot of people tell me that I don't act my age. I'm way, I'm way beyond my, way beyond my years. I mean, just, it just gotta be mature and, you know, at, don't act like a kid. What is the couple more questions for Jeremiah? What is it about? Seven and thirty. It's just, you know, when I see a 50-50 ball, I mean, just, I just think it's, I gotta make the play. It needs to be on me, you know, matter how the ball is. If it's a bad ball, I just feel like I gotta make that play. It don't matter what the certain sense of this, you know, matter if it's a bad ball. It's for like the ball is mine, no matter who I'm fronting you or, no, no matter. Where's your dad going? Getting between the ball and the fender come from. I mean, that talent sets you apart in my opinion in a lot of ways. Do you always have that net? Oh, yeah, I did. I always had that net because I was like, since I started to parents see it right like eight or nine years old, I just found a way to, you know, make sure that ball is mine when it's in the air. And I just, I always find a way, you know, find a way to make my quarterback look good.

And for sure, he definitely made a big jump from industry. Um, I like his confidence. Uh, he's starting to talk more talk a lot of mess on the field. And I like that about my quarter, but I love quarterbacks. About the talk and, you know, just get around as players and making a feel. About to talk. Are you talking on the field? You just say a lot of stuff I can't say but he'll talk for sure. Jeremiah, thank you very much. It was on me. My split was two-hour. He wanted me to come and split down. That was on me. That wasn't a good one. There was also that play aside. Clear that will, the offense, the record is. If you're single about one on one, Brent's man, they're willing to take that shot to you every time. Were you expecting to have this big role in the offense this early?

Not at all. Just coming in, no, just a Ohio State. And just all the receipts that I've been here and I was here before I got here. So I did not have no expectation that I was having the role that I had right now. So I mean, I just get all the things that go and then they would have been this position right now. Is that so real to you then? To be putting up kind of numbers you already have? Oh yes, for sure. I mean, but no job, nothing I still got. That didn't mean anything to him. What does this have on the trust? He tells me a lot each and every day that if you're single, single covers one on one, I'm going to you don't matter who or you don't matter. Just throwing it up. I just got to make a play. I was up to you and realized that you're pressing the other thing. Was there a moment of the spring or this in the trend camp? I say fall camp. That's really when he was just trusting me just throwing it out and I'm just going to go get it. Yeah, for sure. On the play Saturday was the thing you said you should put this to Y? Yeah, to Y. Yeah. I should have cut my split.

No, I think I was, you know, like part of the numbers, I should have been like numbers plus, numbers plus two, I believe. Yeah, something like that. So that's the reason why he just played over top. That's who is the only one in the session. We look at your numbers. You gave history as a freshman on Ohio State. This is the whole coach's program. You feel like a normal freshman. I mean, you're an exceptional freshman for this universe. Yeah, national in the sky. I mean, I love it. I still feel like I'm just a regular freshman, but you know, a lot of people say I'm not, but. I mean, just the role that I have is coming in. I mean, I just, it's been a blessing that I just can't think. Uh, can't say it's on me, it's on God and just the coaches for trusting me to have a put a freshman out there. And just to go out there and make plays and just do what I do. Hearing from your teammates, you've been involved in confidence in you, but you said you didn't expect to have playing time when you came in.

So what did you actually expect? How much do you think you would have gotten? Not that much because you know, you got you got a car. No, take you got meco, Google. I came back. You got bringing in that big, you're all a little guy. So really my mentality of just coming in and just working, learning and just no special teams and make plays on special teams. A lot of my mentality was. Expect this to be different. Big 10. Yeah. What do you expect to be different? Um, me just watching them, they, uh, we've been attending last three teams in place. I mean, it's gonna be better team that have last couple years that, um, we played a higher state play them as we could they said. So, I mean, it's gonna be a good game. You gotta go and, uh, be a higher state as always. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Oh, yeah, for sure. We hungry right now. I can see everybody. I was, uh, everybody in office always a long quarterback, well, however, we're receiving. We definitely hungry for sure. Ready to go out there and has a dinner and just put on the show.

Awesome. More of the podcast. Should you? I have to set up a little bit of no you more. Being interfered with not getting the call or not being able to make a catch. I say be able not to make the catch anyway. Uh, I feel like everybody's throwing me. I have to catch it no matter how the defender on me or not. I just feel like I have to make a play no matter what. Um, I mean, I played Saturday. I feel like I could have caught it, but, you know, it was a passing difference, but it touched my hands. I should have caught it. Uh, Dan, hold on. Let me worry. Jeremiah, there's a lot of, uh, discourse from fans this week about you not winning the Sean Alexander freshman year of or just what's your thoughts on that? Uh, I mean, me calling is a great player as well. I mean, I can't really not kill. Um, no, Sean is a great guy. I talked to him, uh, two weeks ago. It's a great guy. Uh, learned a lot of, uh, things from him outside of football as well. So I mean, I really can't focus on that. I'm just worried about, uh, beating Oregon and, you know, just going out there to pass a deal and just put on the show. And, but I don't have a question. Tom Moore, fuck, I don't mention getting bragging.

It's like, mission getting used to that. Frustrated. You see that from the bottom teams. Yeah. Is that frustrating? Is that, you know, you and it feels like you always think you're over there. Are you still open when you're bragging? Oh, yeah, for sure. I feel like I'm still over no matter what bragging or not. Um, I mean, they just came out with a, uh, good game plan to bracket me and a mecha. And, you know, uh, I mean, just, you know, things didn't go as planned as we thought it would, but we just got to keep moving on and just move forward. As I said, uh, Steven, how are you doing? 24-7 sports. Did you mind that the two touchdown plays that you had with Will Howard? How many times do you think you guys rep that to get, you know, those were perfect throws, perfect patterns. And you beat your guy off the line of scrimmage. Just how many times do you think, uh, and what does it take to perfect that? Uh, I think we read the least. I don't know how many times I practiced over the weeks that we had off. Um, I mean, just came down to, you know, they pressed me. We, we taking a shot. That's what they told me, uh, the week we was off. And he told me, uh, before they gave him the locker room, I just got to give you a shot. And that's what he did.

And I just made a play. The first game to get historic and just how tough was that challenge against their secondary? I know you have to finally get into the game, but you guys made plays all day long against them. Just what, what's your thought about the challenge those guys gave you? Uh, I say the challenge is going to be, you know, a good challenge. They have some great global guys there. Jabal Muhammad number seven, uh, Niko Rhee, uh, the other corner of my nine over there. They, a great global guys. Um, I mean, probably the best we go see all year for sure. Um, we just got a good, you know, B.O. Ohio State. That's all Tony. Uh, Tony. Jordan, fuck I have a, do you ever buy that? So why are you not open? Uh, you know, probably when the whole team on me, I should say, uh, uh, I mean, I'm always open for me for sure. Um, let me just know, throw the ball in my area. I'm going to find a way to make a play as I was always there. Step on Christ. Please, one dot com. You talked earlier about, you know, some of the great athletes that you got challenged and you aspire to be like, I guess.

Where's that confidence kind of come from for you? How long have you had that confidence that, you know, you have the ability to be one of the greatest in this sport? Uh, I mean, a lot of people told, tell me that I'm going to be great at what I do. Um, since I was about, um, going into high school, a lot of people tell me that, um, me just, you know, football is all I know. And that's all I really want to do. Like I live, breathe, sleep football. Like that's all I really care about. Everything outside of football, like football is all I know. And I just want to play football rest of my life. And for all of us, let them grow up. See what you have to do. We're trying to connect on some of those deep balls throughout the year. You'll be able to finally do those in that moment. Kind of carried that forward. Was it the same on the way that you had been able to continue to progress? Just to chemistry. Um, I mean, just, you know, the weeks that we had all we were just working on deep, deep shots, uh, cause they tell us, uh, we have, uh, we got to take shots down. Feel, um, we just got to connect on them and, you know, will tell me before, uh, before the games, like I said, um,

you just got to throw the ball out then just give me a chance and I'm gonna make a play for you. That's what that's what he told me and I just got to make a play for. At a change, don't be a bad ass. We can all joke, we can all talk about the expectations and the start of this become, you know, you were just 13 games. How do you handle that? I mean, just a freshman, how do you take all these expectations? Know when you step on the field that you're always open and still go out there and play? Uh, I mean, expectations. I mean, I can't know how you're staying for a reason. That's what I wanted. Um, when it be childless, I wanted the expectation, expectations, I should say, um, I mean, Coach Hotline just helped me, uh, throughout the whole year, just preparing me for each game, each week, uh, a mecha, buka, uh, carnival tape, bringing in just really the whole receiver on just helped me, uh, stuff I don't really know about, uh, it just helped me throughout the whole week. And, you know, I can't really say as all of me because my talent is, but they really been a big part of the reason I'm having the season that I'm having for sure. I'm Andrew Gillette, what do you think about that?

Jeremiah, over a thousand years, professional sessions in the first year, when you look back at your freshman year, what was the most difficult part about adjusting to the college game? What was the part that you had, you know, the hardest part about trying to train this one? Uh, learning that playbook. Uh, I playbook is something else, uh, just coming in, uh, spring ball, uh, mecha's new plays in every week, I'm like, whoa, what is this? Like, this new plays every day in Coach Hotline, like, you, we go, you go to be good, uh, we got no summer fall camp, we go to be scary. So, I mean, just, you know, that's it, that's definitely was the hardest part just learning the playbook and, uh, a lot of other things, I have to say for sure. You try to get that down pad, how long will it take me to come up with a flip over? Uh, my, I'm pretty, I'm pretty sure I got it down pad right now, but, uh, net season, I really want to learn everything, the H, Z, uh, yeah, I really want to learn everything in the, uh, playbook for net sure, for sure. That might be 24-7 sports. You mentioned, you know, how many guys it might take, because you did not feel a little bit. So, when you are one-on-one, and Will's talk about what EC's, you be one-on-one.

What is going through your mind as you wind up and realize there's one guy covering you? Win, that's all I could say. I mean, as a coach hard-law, uh, we do something like, in a hotel, uh, Friday night before the day, he asked me like, a question like, you get one-on-one, something like that, he asked me, uh, what do you do? I say win, and everybody just started laughing. I don't know where I be like, it's true. Like, you got a win, you're one-on-one, uh, about us, so. Yep. Um, I'm here for the right-build landed teams of the North. Jeremiah, did you move around? So, I'm gonna send a seed to the point where you get a couple matchups against the linebackers. Yep. What goes through your mind when you find yourself matched up against the linebackers? Uh, I just started laughing in my head a little bit. Um, I mean, linebackers can't really cover receivers like that, so I just know like, it's, I'm most likely gonna be open. Um, but, you know, they just try to move me around a lot, because, you know, people try to bracket me when I'm outside, just alone by myself. So that's why they just move me around a lot. Or less, they'll have been more in the land for it.

Jeremiah, you mentioned the most difficult part of your freshman campaign, if they don't earn me the playbook. What has been the best part so far? My way is, we're gonna rub off on people eventually. Um, and I would also say that, you know, you kind of have to understand who you're talking to. You know, people, certain stuff makes different people tips, so you kind of got to know your guys. You know, if you got to get harder on somebody to make them go or if you got to kind of relate to them, you know, pull them aside, I haven't talked so. I think that all goes into leadership and you have to be able to, that has to be a skill that you have to be able to do. What's the good thing about Coach Day now that he's a true hit coach, you know, he's given the lead calling duties on his set. What's been different about him? I want to say, you know, too much has necessarily changed, but you can tell you how tremendous trust in Coach Kelly. I'm in what he's, what he's going to do in the kind of the schemes and everything that he's brought into our program. So, the fact that, you know, he has such confidence in him and his play calling ability makes us tremendously confident. So, Coach Day has always been coached to be instantly continuing to stay that way, but I'm glad he's able to focus more on what he needs to focus on.

He's kind of a field general in a sense, kind of a quarterback on that side. A lot of people may think just, you know, the Mike linebacker, we have Cody Simon, who does that as well, but Caleb's kind of that for our secondary, how to make sure things are clicking on all cylinders. And he's just a very cerebral kid, very smart. And he's able to kind of take control of the defense. So, make the right calls, make the right checks. So, he's definitely annoying for the office to deal with, but it makes us better. Is that the case? In fact, do you have any way where you are? Do you have to worry about where he is? You don't worry? I would say, in fact, it's an entire office. It's not like, you know, we're not oblivious to the fact that the caliber player he is, but, you know, as an offense, you come out and you expect to execute on anybody who's lined up a question. That's your first catch. Yeah, I never really thought about it like that, but we definitely come a long way since my freshman year.

They fall to the lower days, you know, these years, and come ahead and illustrate and allow me to, you know, develop into the person that I am now. But, so, you know, coming full circle, it is really surreal moments to be in my senior year playing against, you know, the feedback on my first catch. I mean, it sounds really cool. I remember Kyle getting yelled at, and it was a ball he was not supposed to throw, and I also remember getting pushed out at like the one or two year online. So, that's kind of a bittersweet memory, but it was a great memory. I mean, I have to say yes, if I don't think I should explore it, I don't think I should be playing football. What did you think of that? Who's up? My, yeah, my, my, came in, he kind of has all the intangibles that we've received, you can tell you just love the game, the way he goes about his business. He runs every route to perfection. He's a, you know, very cerebral kid. And every time he gets on the field, he expects perfection. So, he's just got to continue to develop, continue to work, and I'm really excited to see me.

How has that been seen to your eyes? Can I roll over camp to be able to put this opportunity at the start of the Saturday? Yeah, I think, you know, it's no secret that he has all the physical capabilities that you would want to receive a really any position he could play. Because there's not a football field with his athletic ability, but so a lot of it for him was putting together the mental piece of the game. You know, not just understanding what he has on a specific play, but the whole concept, understanding defense and all that type of stuff. There's nothing really that can get you ready for that moment for your first- habit college because it is different than high school, but you know,
