Police Seize Mopeds in Immigration Crackdown

Offices from the Metropolitan Police teamed up with Home Office Enforcement, pulling over riders and checking their bikes and delivery boxes. They arrested two people, a Pakistani national, for overstaying his visa and an Indian national for breaking immigration bail conditions. Many of these drivers faced tough lives, with reports showing thousands in London, sleeping rough or relying on soup kitchens, even though some are. Educated graduates stuck in low wage gigs. Some moped's were taken because they were stolen or linked to other thefts, part of a bigger push against illegal work in the delivery sector where asylum seekers often can't legally take jobs. The government has ramped up these operations, boosting arrests for illegal working by 83 companies like Deliveroo and Uber.
