0:00Waves of precipitation will be coming and going across the northern plains and upper midwest as we move our way through this work week and there will be some accumulating snow. A meteorologist drew Learner for the Red River Farm Network. Our first disturbance is expected to be a very brief and quick moving through the region that is expected to take place as we go forward through the night to night and into the morning tomorrow. Now early indications suggest this system will be so quickly moving across the region that snow accumulations are going to be limited. Mostly a dusting to an inch or two will keep a close eye on it. There's a possibility of a pocket or two that might get a little bit more. The snow, though, will be quickly moving in and out and by time we get done with the morning tomorrow there should be a short-term break but there will be yet another disturbance coming in as we go later into the day on Tuesday and that will linger until Wednesday morning. Now that system might be a little bit more significant and could produce a little bit greater snowfall across
1:01the area. Early indications suggest that event will be focused on central and southern parts of Minnesota and eastern South Dakota accumulations of a dusting to two inches will be most likely there could be some local three inch amounts. It is looking a little questionable though. A final little disturbance at least for this work week will occur along a northern parts of North Dakota and the Canada border into northern Minnesota. This will come along as we get to the end of the week probably Thursday going into Friday and that system may produce a little bit more significant snow accumulations and we'll watch that pretty closely. It may end up producing between two and six inches of snowfall but again hugging the Canada border primarily. A little bit of rain and snow mix will occur farther to the south. Now our temperatures are expected to bounce around quite a bit this week. We will see some temperatures today in the 20s and 30s near the Canada border while we'll see 50s and some 60s occurring in southern South Dakota and southwestern Minnesota.
2:02Tomorrow we'll see temperatures down just a little bit especially in those southern areas. We'll see 30s and 40s occurring across a big part of the region with a few upper 20s near the Canada border. We'll see again a similar temperature regime on Wednesday but Thursday will be warmer with temperatures in the 40s and 50s and even some 60 and near 70 degree temperatures in the south. That would be South Dakota and the extreme south western Minnesota in contrast some temperatures will be stuck near the 32 degrees along the Canada border. As we get into Friday and Saturday, cooler air will overspread the region once again in 20s and 30s in the north and 30s and 40s will be common in the south. Our nighttime temperatures may slip into some teens and some 20 degree readings as we go forward through the week. I wouldn't be surprised to see a few upper single digit lows occurring on Tuesday morning. For the Red River Farm Network, I'm meteorologist Drew Learner.
