Pirates Honor Mazeroski with Special Patch

The Pittsburgh Pirates are set to honor Hall of Famer Bill Miseroski next season, with

a special patch on their uniform sleeves.

Miseroski, one of the team's all-time greats, passed away on February 20th at age 89.

The patch would debut at the home opener on April 3rd against the Baltimore Orioles,

with Miseroski's family on hand and the crowd joining in.

As the team skips it for their first six games, all on the road against the New York

Mets and Cincinnati Reds.

Fans remember Miseroski as the gold standard at second base for the Pirates, where he played

17 seasons.

He snagged eight gold glove awards, tops among nationally players at his position, and his

defensive wins above replacement still rank first in.

His biggest thrill came in the 1960 World Series, when he crushed a walk-off home run in the

bottom of the ninth of game seven to beat the man.
