Pharmacies Prescribe Without GPs for Another Year
About this episode
Pharmacists in Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire, and Nottinghamshire have been approved to continue prescribing NHS medications directly for another year. This pathfinder program, which started as a national pilot, has been extended due to its success in reducing GP workload and improving patient access to quick treatments. The program, which allows patients to receive on-the-day fixes like chest infections and skin issues without a GP visit, has received positive feedback from patients, with 97% rating it five out of five in surveys. The extension of the program will provide over one thousand additional slots for consultations in Nottinghamshire alone, further improving patient access to quick treatment.
