Peralta Seeks Long-Term Mets Deal

And even though he is not thrown a pitch in a regular season game yet, he is already pushing for a long-term stay. The All-Star pitcher wants a seven or eight-year contract extension as he heads into the final year of his current deal, where he is due $8 million this season. Last year, Peralta had a standout performance with a 2.70 earned run average and led the national league with 17 wins. He struck out nearly 30% of batters faced, earned his second All-Star selection, and finished fifth in Sao Young voting. Over eight big league seasons, he has kept a solid 3.59 earned run average. The meds brought him in to anchor their starting rotation, which ranked 18th in the majors last year with a 4.13 earned run average. Felix Hernandez at $175 million. Dollars, Clayton Kershaw at $215 million. Steven Strasberg at $175 million. And Jose Barrios at $131 million.
